Ram preview green line goes away when changing zoom level

I did a ram preview of my project, about 12 seconds long. Everything looks good until I want to zoom in or out on the comp, then the green line disappears and I have to render it over again. I don't remember AE doing this before. If I zoom to say 25% and render part of the comp, then zoom to 50%, that part with the green line is gone. I can render a different segment of the comp while in 50% and switch back to 25%, and the green line from when I rendered at 25% is back. I've turned off adaptive resolution in the fast preview options, and I turned off the disk cache. Is this a bug or just the way AE works now? I'm using CS6 version 11.0.2 on Win7.

Actually, I think I am. I didn't notice it before, but when I zoom in, if I have the resolution set to Auto, it changes between quarter, half and full depending on the zoom level. I've never noticed that before, or maybe they only recently made it so it didn't say Auto all the time, but now says what effective resolution it's set to. So is that the answer to my problem? Leave it on full resolution (or whatever I need at the time)?

This never used to happen--its a new thing:
After a RAM Preview--if I click somewhere, the green line goes away.

Did I inadvertantly change a setting somwhere?

I must confess, I've noticed this behaviour with almost regularity lately, on several different systems. Not quite consistent enough to prompt a bug report (or thread here) but I have definitely seen what the OP is describing.
Originally, I thought it was being caused by VCP Optical Flares plugin, but since then have seen it happen in projects without the plugin in use.
I've also seen it in both CS4 AND CS5, which got me wondering if an OS X update may have done something to memory management or something.
I'll keep an eye on it and post back if I can find anything consistent enough to report.

Textedit and preview crashing in osx lion when changing network location

I did upgrade to lion on launch and noticed that textedit and preview work quite well except when changing network location: after a few seconds of spinning ball, both crash.
Tried repairing permissions, deleting "containers" folders in my library and so on, without luck.
Anyone is experiencing the same problem?

UPDATE 2: I'm having this issue both on my iMac and my Macbook, so I suppose it's a lion bug and not simply something related to something that went wrong during the update (permissions or something like this). It's both in 10.7 and 10.7.1.
I'm going to try on my wife's Macbook to see if it's something related to some software or setting I'm using; in the meanwhile, can someone out there try to reproduce this issue? Just open textedit and change the network location from the menu bar (you should create one other than "automatic" for "locations" to show up just below "dock"): at this point you should get the spinning ball and then a window telling you that textedit just crashed. Try to do a couple of times if it doesn't crash the first one.
BTW I noticed that textedit doesn't crash if you have the network preference pane open and active ("system preferences" showed on the menu bar) and change the location from the menu bar.
I think I'm going to give a call to Applecare to see if there's some plan to get this corrected in some next update.

Try the standard trouble-shooting steps: Restart, Reset, Restore. If these don't solve the issue then you may have a hardware probem. If so, contact Apple Support.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
Restore: Use iTunes on your computer to Restore your iPhone to as new.

HD noise when flat, goes away when tilted back now wont boot

hey guys... i've been reading some of the discussions about HD noises and sounds. it seems like everyones HDs make noise or slow down when tilted. I HAVE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE PROBLEM. i apologize for the long post:

its kind of weird. i was running ichat, iphoto, safari, photoshop, and iflash [flashcards] all at the same time when i noticed a significant slow down in performance which stalled all programs. i then head a loud whiring humming buzz that sometimes turned into grinding. of course this freaked me out. i tilted my powerbook backward to give it a listen and then the noise went away. not only that all the programs completed all previous requests faster than ive ever seen them perform before. well i repeated this to see if the effect was reproducable, and it was.
well the next morning i turned it on and my powerbook was working fine. no noises or indications impending failure. well i had to leave the library so i shut my powerbook off but the filevault program wanted to recover unused HD space so i let it do its thing. when i tried to power on my powerbook it got to the grey screen with thespinning gear and wont get past that point.
figuring that it was an HD problem, i got my buddy's ibook, set my powerbook into firewire mode by booting and pressing "T", and connected them. i was able to recover data off of my non admin accounts using Migration Assistant but my main admin account wont let me even touch its files due to the filevault settings. i found away to at least get to my files in the main acct by mounting its .ars [i think thats wht it was] image i found under my non main admin account user folder. the thing that gets me is that i can easily access my HD in firewire mode, but the powerbook itself wont get past that grey apple screen. it makes unusual noises and then stops and stays stuck on that screen with the spining gear going.
now this is a major headache since im a med student and i need my powerbook to access my flashcards, notes, and online resources. ive come to realize how dependant ive been on this machine. can anyone help me? is it my HD thats the problem? is it a filevault thing? do i just need to reformat? why do i get that sound when the PB is flat but it goes away when its tilted? now im kicking myself in the butt for not getting applecare.

Last week, my PB started making the same noise that you've described, which is opposite of the other posts, ie buzzing when flat, quiet when tilted. I ran disk utility, TechTool Deluxe (that came with AppleCare), etc without finding anything wrong. Yesterday, I noticed that my s.m.a.r.t status shows my hard drive to be failing (in red letters). My understanding is that it will fail eventually, even though I am using the computer without incident right now. Suffice it to say, I have backed everything up and am waiting for the inevitable moment. I plan to call AppleCare today (sorry to hear you don't have it) to enquire about what I should do. In particular, I cannot go without a computer right now, this malfunction being at the least opportune moment. Can anyone say if AppleCare will give me a loaner until my PB is healthy again?
I realize that this post is of little use to your situation, but I just wanted others to know that the "opposite buzzing sound" exists and that it seems to indicate an eventual failure if mine is the typical result of the first buzzing symptoms.

When entering a website my history will pull down in a list but when I hit enter to go to a site after typing it in that drop down doesn't close anymore, how do I fix that so it goes away when I navigate to a page?

Example: facebook.com
My history will drop down from the navigation bar and highlight the letters I am typing so I can choose a previous page if I want to. But when I press enter to tell it to go to a site the drop down does not go away I have to click somewhere to make it go away. It is suppose to just go away when you click one of the history items it shows or press enter to go to a site and it doesn't anymore.

RAM preview green bar vanished

Hi, does anyone know why the green bar that displays cached frames for RAM preview wouldn't display?
Yesterday it was working. Today it isn't.
I've naturally tried restarting my pc but it's still doing it. I've not altered any settings either in After Effects or on my pc. I literally came in to work this morning and it's gone.
Anyone any ideas? Is there somewhere where I turn it on?
I'm using AE 7.0.1
Windows XP sp3
Intel Xeon 5110 @ 1.6ghz

I don't see the green bar filling up at all.
I've opened up some old AE files to see if it's just the new files it's affecting, but it's affecting all my AE files.
I click the RAM preview button, I see the frames numbers being rendered in the Info panel, and I see the animation rendered in the composition panel.
But no green bar on the timeline filling up to tell me it's progress.
Also scrubbing the timeline would make the green appear, but now it doesn't. It's just totally vanished and not working.
My settings are exactly the same as the identical machine next to me yet that is working just fine.

Media Encoder goes away when launched from Prem-3.2 CS3 (help !)

Need help fixing Adobe Media Encoder - Dies after launching from Pre-Pro cs3 v 3.2 Vista Platform.
Very short clip. Just goes away.. no messages. I've gave it time to "soak"... 15 minutes - source clip is only minutes long.
The only way to recover Premere is to kill VIA task manager and re-start.
I've reinstalled CS3 master collection from scratch - all Adobe products have all the latest patches/updates applied.
I've appiled the latest Vista Updates and the OS is current.
I HAVE to fix this any idea's what going on here ?
PLEASE PLEASE help.. and let me thank you in advance for your efforts.

Welcome to the forum. While it might not yield even a clue, their might be a bit of a "trail" on the crashing of AME. Take a look at this ARTICLE, and see if you can locate any useful clue.

My Macbook display changes color when I open applications. It looks like there is a light blue layer over the screen, thus changing the color of my display. This layer goes away when i quit the applications.

I am facing a problem and I am not sure if its a graphic card malfunction. When I open applications like Chrome, VLC player, and most apps, my display suddenly changes color. It is as though the Theme was changed. The normal grey panel on opened windows turns to light blue and everything else seem as though there is a light blue layer on top of it. When I close these applications (quit) the display returns to its normal self.
My MacBook Pro is 2 years old, and I have an extended warranty. Will Apple replace my graphic card if it is actuall the graphic card's problem?

I had that problem, too, and it's been documented both here and on the Adobe forums. What happens is that when you have dynamic switching on, when an application that uses your discrete GPU kicks in, the screen will change color. My problem lasted for a couple of weeks then just vanished.
What you need to do is download Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus and turn off dynamic switching and leave your GPU set to discrete only. That's the only fix that I know of at this time. I don't know why it happens or why mine stopped.

Sounds like a problem with the app. Have you checked the app settings for a setting for this?
If so with no change, contact The Daily customer or technical suppport.

Rating goes away when added to mobile album

From the organizer "all media" tab, when I drag a picture to a mobile album, the picture in the mobile album lost the star rating. Unpredictably, the shot date will change to whenever I put the pic in the album. Anybody know what is going on?

About the dates, it seems that there is a real problem with videos. I don't do videos, but the problem is linked to the fact that you can't store metadata in the video file like with still formats. The pertinent 'Date Taken' metadata is not carried on with the video file, whereas the 'date modified' assigned by the OS can be used.

JmenuItem not going away when I click outside of the applet

I created a swing applet with JMenu and JMenuItem. If I click within the applet area, the JMenuItem will go away. But when I click out side of the applet, the JMenuItem will not disapear. How to fix this problem?

OK, here are the main parts. First your class must implement the FocusListener interface:

Essentially you are checking for when the focus is lost on the JMenubar, you might try using the focus listener on the menu item and if that doesn't work they using it on the toolbar, or even the main frame. Once the focus is lost the focusLost method is called you want to reset your menu bar and repaint it.

Steady hard drive writing sound goes away when computer is held sideways

I just had my hard drive replaced because it started making this awful sound and I thought well it's about to go, backed everything up and bring to apple for a fix. they agreed after we could not boot up from any external source, cd or hard drive, so they replaced it. I opened it there after the fix, was ok, brought it home, the noise was virtually the same as when I droped it off, so I picked my computer up thinking it might change the sound since something is moving and or spinning, when I turn it sideways all is well, no sound, but I can't work like this, does anyone know what it could be??? and no I'm not running my cd drive and I have run disk utilities from the install disk, no signs of problems, just a loud noise.

oh common don't get ur panties all caught in a bundle, I thanked them, I appreciate it very very much, the answers were just ones I was expecting and not looking forward to, same as yours, I don't have the tools right now to open up the machine and tinker, I even have a hunch that the guy picked up my hard drive after putting it down next to the working one which I'm sure was refurbished and accidentaly re-installed mine. I was really looking for the "if you use a hammer and hit it right "here"" approach.
