RAM requirement for iFS

If I do not want to use all protocol servers,
how much RAM would require to run Oracle database and iFS on same machine.
Documentation states 512MB RAM is required,
if you want to use all protocol servers.

Satheesh,
Assuming you are running iFS + web server and db on the same machine, 256 MB RAM is sufficient. I had set this up on a 256 MB machine and it is okay...

  • RAM required for Lion

I have a macBook Air 11" built in 2010. It has 2 mb RAM. Is there any problems running Lion with this configuration. If yes, can you upgrade to more RAM.

Ram is soldered to logic board so it cannot be upgraded.
This page lists the system requirements for lion.  It says MBA 2008 or later so, yes, you can run lion on it.

  • Is There a minimum cpu speed an Ram requirement for Nano

I use xp pro and want to know if Nano has a cpu/ram requirement.
    thanks, Ken

I don't think that the nano itself, or any other iPod for that matter, has a requirement from the computer that has iTunes other than the type of cable used to connect the iPod to your computer (USB, Firewire), and perhaps what version of the OS you have.
The only requirements CPU/RAM requirements you should adhere to are the ones that are required of iTunes. The requirements for Windows are as follows:
Windows XP or 2000 (latest service packs recommended)
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
    QuickTime 7.0.4 (included)
    256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music
    Additional Video Requirements
1.5 GHz Pentium class processor or better
    32MB video RAM
The Requirements for the iPod Nano are as follows:
PC with USB port or card (USB 2.0 recommended)
Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
Also - it might be more helpful, for yourself and for other users, if you were to post this inquiry in the Windows section of iTunes.

  • Minimum Router's RAM requirement for Cisco CME

    Hi,
Does anyone ever try to use below 1 GB RAM when installing CME for router 29XX? I know that Cisco recommend to use 1 GB RAM. I just want to know, what problem we will may face, if we implement CME with 2921 router for 50 users with default RAM (512 MB).

    Hello,
As you mentioned; for 2911 routers the recommended is to use 1 GB of RAM as per the link below:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/cme105spc.html
As you also going to deploy it with its maximum ip phones that can support, I'd highly recommend you to use 1 GB. If you use 512 RAM,  you may fall into performance issues and your setup will not be supported by Cisco TAC.
    Thank you,
    Shadi

  • RAM requirement for solaris 10

I just had an Ultra 5 given to me, and I wanted to install Solaris 10 on it. But now it seems 128 MB of ram isn't enough for the install?? With the cost of sun ram, its hardly even worth trying to upgrade it. Does anyone know if there is a way to get it installed? Is there any kind of off the shelf ram compatible with it?

I have it on a few servers with less than 200 MB RAM,
    and it works really well.
One thing to keep in mind though is that its a quite
bad idea to try and run Java Desktop or Gnome when
you only have 128 MB of RAM, you should try and
download a small/flexible window manager such as
fvwm2 instead. Thats what i do on my laptop (which
    has 192 MB RAM).
.7/M.What about CDE with 256 MB RAM?
OpenSUSE 10.2 runs GNOME responsively with 256 MB RAM?
I have another issue with the install - it doesn't even start up on my 256 MB system.
I'll try the nowin option and see what it does.
I let it run all night and it didn't start up.
Bad karma when you're replacing a working Linux installation.

  • Set me straight on RAM requirements for 8 core

I have been hearing you need 1gb ram for each core. Or at least that's what people are recommending. Isn't 8gb a little overkill?
I'm going to do HD editing. I would think 4gb ram would be pretty good. Of course, I realize more is always better, but is 8gb really necessary?
Feel free to chime in, but I suppose we will find out when the 8 core's are shipping and what Leapard/FCP will bring us in the next few months.

"Phil, do me a favor... PLEASE... check your page ins/outs and try running your machine a little harder and you tell me if you see a difference when you do get your RAM... "
Of course I'll see a difference. I EXPECT to see a difference, that's the point. But where you and I differ, is that you're expecting the upgrades to make your machine more stable. Mine is already stable - the only thing I'm expecting is increased performance. I'm sure page outs won't be completely eliminated, but they'll be much, much more reasonable that what they are now. I also use a G5 Quad with 8 gigs of RAM and rarely are the page outs "zero". However, even with them about 5-20%, the Quad doesn't skip a beat.
"Mr. Shockley only has 2 GB of memory, but I bet he can go to dinner and come back by the time his workflow has completed."
Well, not quite that long but sure - the limited RAM I now have is causing tasks to take longer than needed. (I've developed a serious hatred for the sounds of disk access!) But while they take longer, the tasks DO get completed. Keep in mind I use several apps in Rosetta, including Photoshop CS3.
"Uh oh, I ordered my Ram before I knew it used different chips."
It wouldn't hurt to call but I don't think I'd worry about it. The 8-core blurb probably just means the new part numbers reflect what Apple has tested. None of the third party RAM vendors/companies are showing a "specific" module for the 8-core. (Even before the 8-core machines, Apple would never publicly say third party RAM was "compatible".)
Apple also says the same thing in the blurb about hard drives. I can't imagine one SATA hard drive is compatible while another is not.
Their term, "qualified" means they've tested the part.

  • Hard disk / RAM requirement for Oracle RAC

I'm using the following configuration for RAC
    Oracle 10gR2
    VMware Server
    Host Server - Linux CentOS
Two Guest Servers - Linux CentOS
Now I'm trying with Pentium 4 and 1 GB RAM. But it is very slow and even hard to finish full RAC step.
What is the best hard disk / RAM configuration to support above specs?
    Kindly advise me.
    Thanks
    Karti

i am using 3 gb RAM, 160 GB hard disk, intel Due core processor. Its working fine for 10gR2 same as you mentioned os & oracle version.
i dont know the minimum RAM Size, but i have seen tarry singh's RAC installation DEMO in dbasupport site with 2 GB RAM size.
so you need atleast 2 GB RAM. Minimum 1 GB for each guest OS.
i am new to RAC. wait for expert's reply.

  • Is 4gb RAM enough for os x mavericks?

I am on a limited budget and thinking of getting a macbook air 13 inch base model and wanted to know if 4gb ram is ok or does it run like crap.

Are the RAM requirements for Mavericks significantly greater than that  for Mountain Lion?  If not, than I can probably upgrade to Mavericks (strange name this. Sounds like some sort of nightcap) with the RAM I have.
My mid-2007 iMac can't be upgraded above its current 4GB - as far as I know.  It is working fine with ML as long as I don't have too many apps open.  I can still have three or four open at the moment depending on what they do and, interestingly, the pedigree of the company that originated the software.  By that I mean if the originator a Mac only developer (possibly with PC as a secondary line) I experience no problems.
If the originator of the software is basically a PC developer with Macs catered for mainly as an afterthought I find apps from these developers tend to take up most, if not all, the available RAM I have even when nothing else is booted.  Stereomerger.app is a good example of this.

  • CS6 Design & Web Premium RAM requirement?

    Hi all,
CS6 Design & Web Premium RAM requirement for Windows 7 64bit is listed as 2GB but 8GB is recommended. We're getting a new PC with 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard disk space. I'm just looking for a staff member's advice, do you think the Adobe software would run too slow on this machine with 4GB of RAM?
    Many thanks for the help.

    Hi AdobeUser1985,
Its hard to say what too slow is for you - more RAM really makes a difference when working with large files. If you have the option to add more RAM in the future I'd recommend it. The speed of the RAM is pretty significant as well. I'd push for best you can get currently and try to get hardware that allows upgrading in the future.
    Hope that helps,
    - Dave

  • Environemnt required for Installing essbase??

    Hi
I am Planning to Install essbase in my Organization on Linux servers and Can some one help me out with prerequisites required??
    Installing essbase 9.3.1
How many servers do i need??
Do i need one seperatley for shared services and one seperately for essbase server??
What is the ram required for these servers and we have to build application that will have a size of 40gb in future
Do i need to have 16 processors for each of the server??
Since the previous organisation i worked for had made their application run on 4 thred and each thread has 4 cpu'c??
I Had an idea to get Servers each with 32gb of ram with 16 cpus each
Can any one suggest me are these requirements sufficient or What are the Components i need to install on each servers
Is this the correct way of setting hardware??
    Thanks
    Kumar

    Hi Atul,
Can you send me any document which gives the general information about the Configuration details for installing Essbase software.....
In your earlier reply, you have mentioned have that increment in CPU and RAM size does not result in increasing perforrmance. In application optimization way, I agree this is not helpful. But if hardware configuration is good, system performance will be better right...Please clarify me I am wrong.

Please click Profile Update and follow the directions for updating your profile. Your computer may be too old to support Aperture however without knowing anything about your iMac it's impossible to say. Also there is an Aperture forum to use and you can look at Aperture's System Requirements below to see if you have the minimum.

  • HT201364 I have most of the requirements for mavericks, however, can I still upgrade to mavericks with 1GB of ram??

I was wondering If I can upgrade to Mavericks if I have MOST of the requirements available..... The only thing I need to do is upgrade the ram. I currently have 1GB of Ram
Or MUST I upgrade the ram???????

And check the Mavericks requirements again. A MacBook that shipped with only 1 Gig of RAM is probably too old for use with Mavericks. As I believe that all of the qualifying MacBooks shipped with a minimum of 2 Gigs RAM.
The minimum requirement for the MocBook is:
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
Note: It always helps to mention your exact Mac model when posting a question in the forums.

  • "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed..."

I realize my explanation of my problem is long-winded, so if you want a shortened version, here it is:
I've followed all the instructions trying nearly everything, and no matter what I do, iTunes gives me the error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." My G5 iPod (60GB) works on two other computers (both without any music on them), so I assume there something wrong with my computer and not the iPod itself.
Now for the long-winded story of the last eight hours of my life...
I just got the Generation-5 iPod Video (60GB) a today and I'm having problems already. I followed the instructions and installed the iPod software and then plugged in my iPod (iTunes has been on my computer for a while now). I was expecting iTunes to open after plugging in the iPod, but my device manager only detected and installed "a new device". I manually opened iTunes and got an error saying: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software."
After re-installing the iPod software and iTunes, and restarting my computer countless times, I came looking for help here. I found this page, which seemed to outline my problem exactly. My computer recognizes the iPod as a drive, but iTunes won't have anything to do with it. I have all the symptoms outlined in the heading, so I hoped to solve my problem there. I followed the instructions step-by-step, and after the final restart, I open iTunes to get the same exact error message.
I decided to determine whether there was a problem with my iPod or if it was my computer. I plugged my iPod into my uncles's powerbook, and got to the point where I can name and configure my iPod. I expected it to work flawlessly on a Mac (which it did) but there is no way for me to continue using a Mac (after tomorrow) for my iPod. This formatted the iPod for a Mac, so I went to another (different from the original) Windows computer, clean of any iTunes and iPod software, and followed the instructions exactly as they're supposed to be followed. After the installations, I plugged in my iPod, and although iTunes didn't open, I was able to format back to Windows and name my iPod (a step in the right direction). I should note that my (anti-iPod) computer is a Windows XP Pro, and the working one is Windows XP Home Edition. This was all well and good, until I remembered there was no music on this computer. So my iPod is completely working there, but there isn't anything I can do with it.
Next, I came back here and browsed around the discussion boards, hoping to find somebody with a similar problem to mine. There seems to be alot of errors concerning iTunes not recognizing the iPod, but none of the solutions I tried worked for me, including changing the drive letter. I get the "iPod Service Error" while trying to restore to factory settings through iPod updater.
Of course, I could transfer all 32GB of music from one computer to another, but the second (working) computer isn't mine and I won't have access to it in a couple months. It would be most convenient if I could get my iPod working on my own computer. Any help would be appreciated, especially from somebody who has solved this problem or know how to solve this problem.
    P.S.
Here are some other minor details that my be important, but I didn't feel they were worth including.
    - My brother has his iPod mini set up on my computer, under a different user login. He gets the same error once in a while, but re-installing iTunes always solves the problem for him. I had him try solving my problem his way, but nothing worked for him either.
    - My computer is an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+, 512MB RAM with Windows XP Pro SP2 installed. My internal hard drive is partitioned, using the letters C, D and H (C being my system files, D used for recovery files and H for my applications and games). My E drive is used as a DVD/CD-ROM Drive, and drives F and G are reserved for virtual drives (none have been running during this entire ordeal). My external hard drive uses the letter I, and I manually set my iPod to use the letter J (I've never used 'J' for anything else before).
    - Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest versions of iTunes and the iPod software.
    - I'm assuming there is a problem with my computer and not my iPod, since it worked on both other computers I tried. I'm hoping it's as simple as changing a registry file or cleaning out (yet another) temp directory.

Solution to "Software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed"!
I battled this same problem for about 5 hours. Going through re-installations, the "5 R's", all these discussion boards. Nothing worked.
The problem is that iPodService was repeatedly crashing after minute or so. You can verify this by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete and noting that iPodService is missing from the process list (sort by image name), or by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting "Manage", then going to Services and checking out the IPodService service - if it gives you the option to "Start", then it's not running.
    Here is what worked.
    1. De-install iTunes and iPod (if you have the updater installed) completely by going to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Also delete the C:\Program Files\iTunes and c:\Progam Files\iPod\bin directories. (Don't worry, this doesn't affect your saved music files.)
    2. Log in as an Administrator
    3. Go into the registry (note this is dangerous - you should be careful) and remove the iPod entries that the uninstaller misses.
3.1 Go to Start menu --> Run.
    3.2 Type in "regedit".
    3.3 Go to HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodService.iPodManager.
There are two keys here, iPodManager and iPodManager.1. In my case, I did not have permission to view either of these. I think this is the root cause of the problem. I think the installer can't properly update these because it doesn't have permission. So you need to change the permissions:
    3.4 Right-click on IPodService.IPodManager
3.4.1 Select "Permissions..." A warning will appear saying you don't have permission, but that you can change permissions.
3.4.2 On the window that launches, click on "Advanced..."
3.4.3 Click on the "Owner" tab.
3.4.4 Select a valid account (the one you're logged in under) under "Change Owner To".
    3.4.5 Hit "OK".
3.4.6 Back on the main Permissions window, hit Add and add the same account as a valid user.
3.4.6.1 Where it says "Enter the object names to select", type in the account name, e.g. "Smith".
3.4.7 Click on the "Allow" checkboxes for "Full Control" and "Read".
    3.4.8 Hit "OK".
3.5 Repeat procedure for the "iPodManager.1" key.
3.6 Now right-click and delete both of these keys.
I think that's all that's required, but I also searched through the registry and deleted the following keys.
    4. Other keys I deleted:
    4.1 HKEYCLASSESROOT --> IPodManager.IPodManagerUI.1
4.2 HKEYLOCALMACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Apple Computer Inc. --> iPod
I think that's all I deleted, but I'm not positive. I seached for instances of "ipod" using the Find... and Find Next functions under the Edit menu.
    5. Exit out of the registry editor.
    6. Re-install iTunes. I re-installed iTunes and reconnected the iPod, and everything worked.
I want to repeat that editing the registry can completely mess up your computer if you modify the wrong things, so only do this if you're comfortable, and be extremely careful.
    Hopefully this helps!
Apple support people: assuming this works, please add it to your solutions page, and feel free to reimburse me for spending half of Christmas figuring this out.
