Random 3 note tone, low high mid tone sound in succession.

Hi All,
Occasionally I get a three tone sound from my MBP. It sounds like something you would hear on a station with a low high mid tone sound in succession. As it is too random it is hard to capture using opensnoop and filemon.

If you are running Skype, it could be alerts that contacts are available. You can turn the off in Skype/Preferences.

there is no tone under setting - sounds. You will need to go into ringtone or text tone and find the tone you created.

Satellite L350D-20F - very high peep tone causing headache

Hello there,
A few weeks ago I bought a new Toshiba laptop Satellite L350D-20F.
Does somebody recognize my problem with this laptop; a constant *very high peep tone* that causes headache?
It is not caused by loudspeakers but comes from the inside body of the laptop.
What can I do?

if the sound is still audible this could be a broken coil on mainboard.
this have to be repaired means new mainboard.
consult a servicepartner.

Trophy: Speaker Noise. quiet yet high pitch tone?

so i got my HTC Trophy yesterday. so today i noticed that my phone makes a quiet, yet high pitched tone when the screen is on (maybe its when it is not asleep). so i turn the screen off.. (its quiet).. turn it on (i hear the tone). unlock (unlock sound plays, and there is something a second after that). then i hear that tone again.. its kinda like the speaker is always on and there is some kind of noise. (my volume is on 7).. could be my phone. could be the OS. anyone else have this sound?

Odds are it's the hardware. Do a reset (settings, about, reset my phone, yes, yes), and if it still happens, take the phone to the store and tell them you want it replaced under warranty.
You will lose all your data that isn't synced to the cloud, but that is a troubleshooting step they'll make you go through anyway.

High pitched tone with XtremeGa

Hi, I keep getting a high pitched tone after a few minutes. The only way to stop it is to close down all processes related to my card. I have updated all of my drivers. I called Tech support and was told that it was bottlenecking and they gave me a printout of suggestions but none of them seem to work. My problem was happening while the Azalia was turned on. It was still happening after I turned it off as well. I get the high pitched tone if I'm listening to music, but if I'm playing a game, the sound will just cut out. It is also related to my speakers. I can lower the volume by turning them down. I disable my firewire and the X-Fi is the only thing set to IRQ 22 right now. I left my pc on last night playing music to test it out and I still got the tone. I've called Tech support and both times they said it was a resource problem. I called yesterday and the guy said that it was because the X-FI was sharing IRQ 2 with My IDE Controller. I couldn't figure out how to disable that so I disabled my Firewire on IRQ 22 and switched my X-Fi with my Lynksis Wireless card so the Lynksis is now on IRQ 2 with the IDE controller and the X-FI is on IRQ 22 by itself. But like I said that didn't help cause I still had the problem last night. Lately it takes a while for the Tone to happen. Last night I was listening to Itunes and playing C&C3 for about 3 hours without a problem, but when I woke up this morning, I could hear the tone. Right now I'm trying out the suggestion from the ASUS forum. He had an X-FI Fatalyt but didn''t specify what motherboard he was using.

Sending MIDI tones to Nokia!!

Now four days and still having this problem, I am facing a big problem in sending a MIDI (Polyphonic) file to a Nokia handset, my testing handset is 6610, I am using SMSJ API (http://sourceforge.net) for my projects, I have sent lot of different tones but not the MIDI til now, have you any experience on this? What about the NBS Port x1581? Shall I change it when I sending a MMS? What about the UDH format? Does it have some special format for MIDI? Plz help.

the best way to send midi tones is through MMS... attach the midi file just like an image...

All text tones are available in General-Sounds. Some are missing via Contacts-Edit Contact.

I have confirmed that this issue is also present in the iPhones in the Apple store as of 28-April-2014. I told one of the guys in the Apple store about it and he said that the iPhones in the store have a custom version, so I asked him to check his own iPhone. He did, and the issue is present on his phone, so it's definintely a general IOS7 iPhone issue.
If you go to General -> Sounds -> Text Tone -> Classic, you can see all the classic text tones.
If you go to Contacts, select a contact, select Edit -> Text Tone -> select Classic, some are missing.
I used Choo Choo for one of my contacts while I was on IOS6 and when I switched to a new phone with IOS7 and performed a restore, their text tone changed to Tri-tone. I tried to change it back and saw it was not availble, so I figured they had taken it out of IOS7. Then I heard a friend's iPhone 5 on IOS 7 who had Choo Choo set up as their default. I investigated and saw that more Classic text tones were available via General.
Is there some logical reason why some text tones are not available for Contacts?

Do you maybe have your contacts separated into groups? If so, perhaps you have unchecked the group that the missing contact are in.
In the Contacts app, click the Groups button in the upper left corner. Make sure all groups have a check mark next to them.

High, mid, low reference level calculation

    Does anyone know the equations for calculating the high, mid, low reference voltage?    I have set the reference voltages to 10%, 50% and 90%. I just don't know based on what the digitizer calculates the level.    For example 1, the Mid level is calculated as (Vtop+Vbase)*0.5. Should it be (Vtop-Vbase)*0.5?   The Hi and low reference calculations also do not add up. I was using a signal generator to generate the signals.
I am using PXI-5224 and niScope.lib verison 3.5.

    I think I messed up the calcuation. The reference voltages are are correct. It is the (Vop+Vbase)/2 for mid ref level. The Lo and hi are also correct.

Can the adjustment brush be set to mask for highlights, mid tones, or shadows individually?

I am a recent convert from Apple Aperture, where one can brush adjustment masks onto an images highlights, mid tones, or shadows individually. Can this be done in Lightroom? It makes adjustments around trees, for instance, so easy to do precisely...

The answer to your question is:
No. (masking based on specified tonal range(s) is not supported).
And, yes - auto-masking brush is tone-sensitive and will mask, to some extent, based on tone (also color, I think, and who knows what else.. - it doesn't work very well in my opinion).
If this does not sufficiently answer your question, then perhaps you need to elaborate and clarify the question.

Faint high-pitched tone

For a few days now, I've been hearing a faint high-pitched tone coming from my macbook pro. I've never heard this before, and it starts after I've used my computer for about 15 minutes to half an hour. It's not very loud, and you can't hear it over music or a video. I have been using it a lot lately, and it's usually on for several hours a day. Can anyone tell me what this is about? Thank you.

You may want to try the "yes" command again, and this time wait longer. Or to load the processors even more heavily, download and run the freeware [SystemLoad|http://www.bresink.com/osx/SystemLoad.html], which will heat the system up as fast as anything can. Apple's default setting for the fan(s) in your machine may not prompt them to speed up until the processor reaches 180°F or higher, and that might take ten or fifteen minutes.

Is anyone else experiencing high frequency tone at the beginning of "Katy Perry: Part of Me" Trailer?

I was watching trailers on my Apple TV 2nd Gen, when my ears were viciously assaulted by a terribly unpleasant high-pitch tone. This occured at the beginning of the trailer for "Katy Perry: Part of Me". I tried other trailers and the tone was not repeated, but every time I watched that trailer through my Apple TV, the tone persisted, or rather, every time I selected that trailer through the AppleTV-Movies-Trailers. When I streamed the trailer from my iPhone, the tone was not present, nor was it present in the version watched from my MBA. I am curious if anyone else can duplicate this problem.

Yes it is the correct workflow, I've done it before.
I found a workaround: instead of transcode the clips I digitized from 29.97 to 23.98 first, I create the merged clips while the video is still the same frame rate than the audio (29.97). Then I apply the "cinema tools reverse telecine" on the merged clip.
This merge doesn't present the problem I had before. It is a bit much more complicated than the other way, because the transcoded merge is not always sync to the frame.
Does anyone had experienced the same problem than me with the 6.0.2 update?

EXS24 loading samples become one semi tone lower than assigned key

When I load samples into a new instrument as a zone by dragging them to a key, somehow they become assigned to the adjacent key, one semi tone lower than the note. Eg: I put a sample on C2, when I hit the keyboard it is tiggered by B1. How to resolve this ? Is there a setting somewhere ? It certainly does not appear to have any thing to do with my 'mother' keyboard (M-Audio Ozonic).

Yes. Ironically, modern batteries liked to be always charged - at least partially.

That is applicable and advisable for old batteries - early Nokia batteries - and especially NiMH and NiCd's. But not for modern batteries at the present.

No. It won't pose any harm. As I've said, modern batteries like to be charged partially.
