Random Automatic PowerUp on MacBook when connecting MagSafe

Hi everyone.
I've searched a lot before posting but nothing useful for me.
I've already tryed resetting smc, nvram, pram etc.
I've read about moving the MagSafe pins with the plastic cap of a pen, but it sounds me very strange.
I have a brand new battery and charging and everithing it's ok, but in the middle of the night (when charging) it's a little scary ear "BOING" came out from the mac
I remeber that it won't happen with 10.5.2 and I also remeber that it happened with 10.4.9
is it probably something going wrong during the updating?

  • Will my Mac automatically stop using wifi when connected to an Ethernet enabled thunderbolt display?

Will my 2012 Macbook pro retina  automatically stop using wifi when connected to an Ethernet enabled thunderbolt display?

    Depends.
If you go in System Preferences / Network, you will see a list of all the network interfaces your current configuration has. If you click on the gear icon next to the minus sign, the drop menu will offer "Set Service Order...". There you can prioritize the order of use: Ethernet above Wi-Fi and wireless will be ignored if Ethernet is available.
Note that the Wi-Fi card will remain active and associated with an access point nonetheless. It just won't be used for communications by the OS and apps.

  • T530, Windows 8/8.1 Multiple Screen Random Automatic and Frequest Discontect/Re-connect

I'm running 3 external monitors on a Lenovo T530 docked laptop. With Windows 7 on my previous lenovo T500 it was running perfectly. Since 'upgrading' (and I use the term loosely) my laptop and OS to Windows 8.1, at the most inopportune times, randomly and frequently throughout the work day, everyday, all the monitors will cut out, making the disconnected sound. They will briefly, maybe half a second consolidate all the open windows on the laptop that is docked with an illuminated screen, then go black and then all the monitors will turn back on, consolidating all the open windows on the one external monitor set as my default main monitor. Then I will continue working, moving all my windows back to where I want them, and it will randomly do it again, usually when I'm concentrating on something important. It's like it knows!
The same thing has happened with an external projector, though not with all projectors.  Sometimes it works fine with projectors.
I have updated Windows, and all the graphics drivers and BIOS. And my business partner is having the exact same problem, with the exact same laptop and multiple monitor setup, so it's not isolated to my computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having this same issue with my T530. It just started a week or two back. Not trying to necropost but I didn't see an answer.

  • How do I get my Macbook Pro to automatically select the location when connecting to the wireless network?

Each time when I want to connect to a different network I have to manually select the location and it's becoming very annoying. How do I get it to automatically select the location?

Check the following settings on your MacBook
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
Click on AirPort on the left
Click Advanced at the lower right
If you have a "favorite" network, make sure it is first in the connection list. If it's not, drag it there
Make sure that there is a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined"
No other boxes should be checked
    Click OK, then click Apply

  • How can I use my TV as a display for FaceTime and the camera of my MacBook when connecting it to the TV via HDMI?

I can connect my MacBook to my TV via HDMI and when I FaceTime everything works normally except I would like the display for the MacBook to be turned off so I can see video only on my TV. Closing the lid is not an option since I am using the MacBook's camera to FaceTime. Is there any way to achieve this?

    Not that I could find.
The easiest workaround that I could find is a trimmed piece of Black Construction Paper taped over the Mac's display.
Alternatively, you could use an external Mac Compatible Web Cameras and then close the lid, but that is a higher cost option.

  • Automatically disable auto lock when connected to charging device?

    Hello,
I am aware that you can disable auto-lock in the settings by selecting 'never.'
Is there a way the auto-lock feature can be disabled automatically when the iPod Touch is connected to a power source like a dock, car charger, etc?
It's a pain to have to change this setting each time I get into the car, and when I forget, it has the potential to become a safety issue. (Of course, I would never mess with my iPod settings while driving...)
Perhaps a 3rd party app that does this??
I've seen this question posted on various forums, but have never seen a good answer...

    Hello Ats65,
Make the pairing again and make the device update with system update
Also check another Bluetooth keyboard if available.
    Best Regards,
    Tanuj

  • Automatic import when connecting camera?

My PC is a Windows Home Premium 64 bit system. In one of the Adobe tutorials on importing, it sounded like Lightroom would automatically start the process when connecting a camera to a USB port. But that doesn't happen for me. I can import by starting Lightroom, clicking the import button, then selecting the camera device. Can Lightroom be configured to automatically start and select the camera device when the camera is plugged in?

  • Macbook won't turn on when connected to ac, magsafe light green

Hi all, so I've seen a number of similar issues but none with symptoms quite like mine, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction here. Here are the symptoms I've been experiencing lately on my MacBook pro purchased in '08:
-macbook will not turn on when connected to power adapter, regardless of whether or not the battery is in
-the LED indicator light on the magsafe adapter is green, even though the battery is currently dead
....it should also be mentioned that this current battery (my second one) is less than a year old.
With similar issues, it typically turns out to be a fried DC board, however since there is always a BRIGHT green light present on the magsafe this would lead me
to believe that there is in fact a power exchange between the two devices, correct?
I've already tried disconnecting the power source, taking out the battery, holding down the power button for 10 seconds then reconnecting the power source THEN the battery but to no avail. When I've encountered this problem in the past I've just reconnected the adapter a number of times until it finally turns amber, at which point I am able to power on the MacBook after the battery charges for a few minutes. Today I've been trying to get this to work for almost 5 hours and the magsafe LED remains green and the MacBook unresponsive! Somebody pease help!

  • My MacBook Pro will not powerup (even when connected to power supply).

My MacBook Pro will not powerup (even when connected to power supply). The caps lock key is the only light on.

    Hi PatB11902,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your MacBook Pro does not seem to power on, but the caps lock key will light up when you press the caps lock key, you are likely seeing a video issue.
There are several steps that can help troubleshoot this behavior, found at this link:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays - Apple Support
    Start with these steps:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Start up in Safe Mode.
If your Mac does not start up normally after these steps, here are some additional tips that can help:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on - Apple Support
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.
If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
    Sincerely,
    Jeremy

  • Macbook air can't go to the internet when connected with hard disk

Hi, so my macbook air can't go to the internet everytime when it is connected with my hard disk. The wifi icon on the top right corner says my macbook is connected to my wifi but my macbook just can't go to the internet. I unplugged my hard disk and I have no problem connecting to the internet right away? I would like to know if there is any solution for this problem.
    Thank you

    Try resetting your SMC.
Resetting the SMC of an Intel-based portable Mac with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: This will not delete any data.
The SMC is responsible for controlling various system functions. None of your data will be deleted by resetting the SMC.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.
Release the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.
    I hope I helped.

  • Mag Safe power cord sparks when connected or disconnected--whereupon the MacBook Pro 13'' dumps date and time, and all passwords, plus any/all unsaved information.

I purchased my MacBook Pro 13" from the Apple Store in Tucson, AZ, in mid-January. Since then, every time the Mag-Safe cord is jostled, not even disconnected, sparks fly from the power terminal on the computer, the computer shuts down, and dumps its passwords, as well as the date and time.
Any work in progress is also lost.
I work overseas, and Apple's advice was to give them my credit card number, await shipment of a new power supply and cord, and then, when I return the old power supply and cord, i'd receive a credit. That won't work, as packages from the US to my location take weeks if they arrive at all. There is no Apple Store within a reasonable distance. Or, Apple suggests, when I'm home on leave in mid-June, I should bring the computer to the Apple Store for repair--I have only days in which to do that, but I suppose I'll need to try. My concern is that I'll need to return overseas without my computer and won't be able to retrieve it for months, until my next leave.
This issue shows up elsewhere online. Is there a short in the power terminal in the computer, or on the Mag-Safe power cord, or within the computer itself? It's a known issue, thus I wonder why it hasn't been fixed.

  • Is there a way to prevent iTunes from starting up when connecting an iPad to my Macbook?

Is there a way to prevent iTunes from starting up when connecting an iPad to my Macbook?  We use Apple Configurator and would love to be able to set up the MacBook to open Apple Configurator when we  plug in an iPad.

When you connect the device open iTunes and select it from the sidebar. Click on the Summary tab in the main window. Uncheck the option to automatically connect to iTunes. You will find it in the collection of options near the lower part of the window.

  • What is the right way to connect the adapter to my macbook when charging?

what is the right way to connect the adapter to my macbook when charging.
is it connect the magsafe connector first before plugging the adapter to the outlet? or the way around? or both ways will do?
what if i'm using a surge protection with a on/off button, can I just turn the surge protector extension on and off without disconnecting the magsafe connector and adapter plug from my laptop when i'm not using it?
    thank you very much

If there is any arcing it may be because the adapter is dirty. It is best to plug in the wall wart then attach the magsafe to the MacBook. As GfulDedFan mentioned this reduces the chance of power surging the MacBook. I have done mine this way since he day I bought it and have never had an arc. I keep it clean to reduce the chance of this happening. The following will help in the care of your supply.

  • 2nd iPod Classic locking up when connecting to MacBook Pro

I'll sum up the lead-in story as best I can.
I have a 2010 MacBook Pro 13". Just got an new iPod Classic a couple weeks back. I discovered that when playing the iQuiz game, I had a few lock-ups (freezing). Then a handful of times, it locked up when connecting it to the MacBook for charging or syncing. It didn't lock up EVERY time. But about 1 out of every 4 syncs on average.
I naturally thought something was wrong with the Classic, and brought it into the Apple store when it was locked up, and they gave me a new one.
But now this one is doing the same thing. Occasional lock-ups when connecting to the MacBook Pro. Doesn't matter which USB port. And doesn't seem to matter if the computer has been on, or if it's a fresh boot.
What could be going on here? I doubt highly that both Classics I've gotten have the same exact issue with occasional lock-ups when connected to the computer. My MBP otherwise has given me no problems. And no problems with other USB devices, ever.
    Any ideas?

Update: bought a new usb sync cable to try, and no change. the Classic locked up the first try with the new cable.
