Random Blank Pages

Since Saturday afternoon I've been getting frequent blank pages. The page usually displays correctly after one or more reloads. Same issue on multiple devices (Windows, Mac and IOS), multiple browsers (Firefox, IE and Safari) and with both WiFi and wired connections. I've tried restarting the router (twice) and BT modem (once) and also cleared the Firefox cache on one machine just to see if that had any effect, but no change. I had an online chat with a BT advisor and they said it is not a BT issue. Any ideas?

No I didn't decide to revert back, I just wanted to see if by going back I would get blank pages again. And I did. My wife's iPad is now on Google and is working fine, so that does seem to be the solution, despite BT's Chat advisor claiming that it could not possibly be their DNS server.
Yeah, I will change the router's DNS if it's still OK in a few hours. I gave up with the BT HH a few days after installation when I got fed up of constant (hourly) WiFi dropouts. BT kindly sent me a replacement and that was even worse ; the HH really is junk, and I hate not having control over router settings anyway. I've always been happy with Linksys so went for an EA4500, which has been great. Oh, and I also have an old WRT54GS running DD-WRT as a wireless bridge to reach the parts of the house and garden that are out of range of the 4500.
Finally, thanks for your help.

  • Random blank pages with JSPs

I've written several web applications, and I've never encountered this before. I have a servlet and several JSPs. As I continue to run the application as I am developing it, I am having problems where a page will be blank. What I see is a URL with the servlet context plus a parameter for the page name that should be going to the servlet. If I click the back button in the browser, and do the exact same thing again, that post request is sent to the servlet, processed correctly, and a new JSP is dispateched to present a web page. That is, when I can't predict it, a page does not render because it seems as though the post request does not actually reach the servlet but this does not happen most of the time. I can't figure out how to debug it, since it happens at random moments on random pages. I'm running on tomcat 5.1. Any suggestions for how to debug this? My log for the application (created by log4J) shows nothing, nor does catalina.out or current localhost log file. Thanks.

  • Random blank page generated at beginning of Epub

Okay, so I'm using Indesign CS6 to author an epub document. Everything is golden except for one last issue...
When I export the final file and look at the book on my iPad via iBooks, the first page is not the actual first page of my book. Instead it's just an extra blank page with a small '?' box at the top--similar to the symbol given whenever there is a broken image embedded.
FYI, there are no images in the entirety of this book, aside from the actual cover file...
    Any ideas?

I opened it up in Sigil and selected the first xhtml after the cover image...

  • Hp laserjet 200. Random blank pages. Jibberish. USB not recognized.

I am posting this for a friend.
The printer is one year old. They ended up buying a new computer and the same problems happen on Windows Vista AND Windows 8.1.
    Please advise!
We were away for a week. It printed strange gibberish each day we were gone. Sometimes I can turn it off and on and make it print a desired document, but other times I just have to give up. I tried to take the ipad off again to see if that would help, but I probably didn’t do that correctly. Today it is just printing blank pages. There is an error message on the computer screen asking for a certain kind of paper. That makes no sense. It printed with this paper before. Usually there is an error message on the computer screen that it does not recognize the last USB inserted. That makes no sense either. I haven’t inserted anything into a USB port. Now I just had to turn the printer off to keep it from printing blank pages.

    Hi @timothypcook ,
I see that you are getting blank and gibberish print when trying to print by a USB connection. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Printing a Configuration Report. Did it print properly?
I have provided this document with some steps to try, to see if it will resolve the issue.
Resolving Strange, Garbled or Illogical Text, Incomplete Printouts, or Missing Text or Graphics.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor if you are still having issues. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools
If the printer is also networked, download and install the Microsoft hotfix in Step 3 of the document.
Wireless HP Printer Prints a Partial Page or Fails to Print All Pages in Windows 8.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print, any error messages)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • Randomly Inserts Blank Page

    Hello,
I'm trying to format my thesis with InDesign. I've got about 80 pages loaded so far and have worked out all the kinks except for a few. My main problem right now is that InDesign sometimes puts a random blank  page in between pages where there should be no break (see Image below). I've been able to fix the problem either by repasting or some other way most of the time, but I have one really annoying blank page that I can't seem to get rid of. If I try to delete it, everything - including the blank page - just gets shifted.
Is there something in paragraph styles that I'm missing that could be causing this? Also I have two sets of grouped images where this is happening - I'm not sure if that matters...
Sorry this is so small, but I thought it might make it easier to understand the problem.

One common cause is that the style or styles of many consecutive paragraphs are set to keep with next or previous, and ID can't separate them at page breaks. Another is that some paragraphs are set to start on a new page or in a new column or frame.
Move your text tool through paragraphs and see if your paragraph styles in the Control panel, or in the paragraph styles panel show plus signs after their names. The plus indicates that the style's been modified. You'll have to go through the paragraph styles panel keep with property area for the normal paragraph style to see if keep with is set ON. If so, set it off so that runs of paragraphs don't do the YoYo you're seeing.  If not, then the plus-signed paragraphs are probably the ones that are keeping with too much.

  • Random Blank Image Field

We are using a c# DataSet with a byte[] field to store a .tiff (one .tiff per each record).  We bind this DataSet to a Crystal Report that has this image field for (most of) the report.
When we load more that 5 records, we randomly have blank images displayed in the viewer (and printed with blank images). Oddly, when we hit the viewer refresh we get different pages that are blank.
When we export to .pdf, all images are present in the pdf.
We have converted the .tiff  to JPEG, and stored these JPEG images into the DataSet byte[] and get similar behavior; that is, we get random blank pages.
      Any ideas will be appreciated.
    thanks,
    bill

    Not enough basic info:
What version of CR are you using?
What CR patch level are you on?
What version of .NET are you using?
Is this a web or a win app?
Is htis happening on your dev computer or after you deploy the app?

  • Page sequence adds a blank page

    Hi,
when I use the hierarchy palette to change the order of my pages I get an extra blank page. Sometimes.
    Page1
    Page2
    Page3
When I move Page 1 down a blank page appears at the top. If I move page 2 down nothing happens (incorrectly that is). If I put Page 1 back where it was the blank page goes away.
I cannot see the blank page in the Hierarchy pallette.
If i place objects on the blank page at the top they actually appear on another page at the bottom. However that page doesnt exist in the hierarchy. What does exist is the objects that I placed, directly child to the form1 node.
Moving Page 1 back to the top removes the blank page but the objects stay in the hierachy list and seem quite useless.
I suspect there is something set with Page 1 that I cannot determine. Can you?
I have looked at the xml but cannot really determine anything there. Incidentally viewing the xml tab really strains the performance. Is that normal?
    Thanks
    D

Here's the problem. I just figured this out after several months of frustration.
Look on your hierarchy tab that shows all of the pages in your document. Click on the page below the random blank page. Should be clicking on something like (Untitled Subform) (Page 1).
Now look on the right at layout toolbar. In every document that I was having problems with the height was higher than 10.5in which is what the document was set at. Try to reduce the height to 10.5 or whatever the size of your document is. If it goes back to the larger value, then you have page elements that either too high up, or too low and they need to be moved. Once all of the elements are withing the correct height, you can re-size the page and the blank page will disappear.

  • Blank pages inserted during duplex printing

I just installed an OfficeJet 4500 G510g on a 64-bit Windows 7 system and configured it using the network interface.  After having some initial installation problems I downloaded the latest Full Featured driver and was finally able to get everything (printer, fax, scanner) working okay.  Tonight I tried my first duplex printing job and found that the output has random blank pages inserted.  The first time I printed, I got page 1 on the front of the first page and the back was blank.  Page 2 was on the front of the second page, page 3 on the back of that page and so forth up to another blank page between pages 6 and 7.  After looking at the configuration to see if I had something set up incorrectly, I tried it again.  This time I got page 1 on the front of the first page, a blank page on the back, another blank page on the front of page 2 and from then on it was correct up through page 7.  I am an embedded software developer and the ability to print duplex listings is very important to me.  Unfortunately, at this point I have no idea what to try next.  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi,
I'm hoping for an answer to this problem also. Here's what I've found so far:
"I am printing statements on a double-sided stationary capable printer. To ensure that each new statement starts on a new physical piece of paper, I need to add a blank page if the previous statement had an odd number of page sides. How can I do this?
Place an invisible boilerplate line before the repeating frame that contains your data. Give it a Page Break before and anchor it to the repeating frame. Then write a format trigger that only prints the boilerplate object (and thus the page break) if it is an odd page number. "
I've tried this but it isn't working for me. I'm using this logic for printing the page:
    v_page number;
    begin
    srw.get_page_num(v_page);
    if mod(v_page,2)=0
    then
return (FALSE); --if an even page don't print
    else
return (TRUE); --if an odd page do print
    end if;
    end;
If you find an answer I'm hoping you'll share it with me. Thanks!

  • Cannot print -- random text & blank pages when printing -- HP Color Laserjet 3600N

    Apple Support Community,
I'm having some trouble connecting my computer and printer via a network connection. The printer functions fine among other computers (Mac, PC) connected via a network connection, but one particular MacBook is giving me trouble.
I can get the printer and laptop to connect, however when I try to print, it gets buggy on me. Usually it will print a page with some random text, followed by an excess amount of blank pages, then another page with text similar to the first. The text usually has information including font types and other formatting data, but not what was "printed."
I have tried to update the printer drivers, but I cannot get the printer utility to utalize them. After installing the most recent drivers, it will continue to suggest the generic laser printer drivers (1.0 verison), or I can choose other printer drivers (including "base" 3000 model drivers), but the 3600N drivers are not avalible on the list. Both the generic drivers and the HP drivers give me the random text upon printouts.
The laptop is a MacBook Pro with 10.6.
What is the best course of action to remedy the printer problem?
    Thanks!
    Jel.

Over the holidays, I spent a couple of hours on the phone with HP, a couple with Microsoft, and previously with Apple. Microsoft said they are working on updates, should be fixed by the release of Office 2008. Apple says there's a compatibility issue among the HP printer and Leopard and "some" programs. HP tells me it's an "old" printer (which they were happy to sell me in April 2007) and they may not release new drivers. HP also says Apple knows there are printing issues.
In the meantime, I'm using Pages and shopping for a new non-HP printer.

  • I need 3 or 4 blank pages which I can add to at random - How, please ?

    Hello,
I have my home page on FF but I need several extra pages. I didn't realise that it could be difficult. I've used FF on my old PC for 2/3 years but I've added a few years and a new PC and I'm now 78yrs so please excuse the fuss !! Why would it be difficult to add fresh pages ?
    Roy C.

See this article about using tabs:
You can always open extra pages if you need them via "Firefox > New Tab" or you can middle-click a link with the mouse scroll wheel (holding down the Shift key and left-clicking does the same) to open the link in a new tab.
Note that Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
If you really need empty pages then you can open an about:blank page.

  • I click on a website, it loads, and then immediately goes to a blank page

This problem just started about 2 weeks ago. I will click on a site, and for a second i am there, then the page goes blank. sometimes I get the word "Done" in the lower left-hand corner of the page. This appears to be random w/pages. Some, never have problems.

By "tabs", do you mean something like this -
If that is what you see, then you may be right-clicking on the icon instead of left-clicking on it.
Right-clicking or Control-clicking on an icon in the Dock will bring up a menu like that (it is a contextual menu, so its content varies a bit from program to program).
Usually, it is necessary to only click an icon in the Dock once in order to start up the program (if it has been quitted) or make it active (if it has not been quitted).

  • REPORT SERVER 6i Patch1 PRINTING BLANK PAGES

I have a problem that is occouring on three different report servers. It will start printing blank pages instead of the report and the only way to get it back to normal is to stop and reastart the service. I get this on a version 6, version 6i and version 6i patch1 report servers. It makes no difference what call method I use (command line or OCX control). I can also force this behavior on one of the servers by selecting a HP 895C as the default printer in the windows printers and then starting the service. All pages print blank after that. At the customers site it appears to be random as to when it will start printing the blank pages.
Any ideas on what the fix is for this?
    null

Is there any ideas on this?
We have a Reports 6i server up and running and I'm getting stuff out OK to postscript printers, but some HP older printers are just spitting out blank pages. Is there a desformat= that I need to set differently? I've tried most of the options ( dec, psport, psland, hpl... all blank )
Appreciate any help, I haven't used this stuff long, so am quite naive about how it hangs together.

  • Pdfs open as blank pages in Safari, Preview, and Evernote

    Hi everybody!
I am experiencing problems with viewing pdfs in Safari and Preview, as well as third party apps such as Evernote. Some pdfs open fine and as always, others will just open as an assortment of blank pages.
Interestingly enough, I have had some of these pdf files before I migrated from a Snow Leopard MacBook to a Lion MacBook Pro.
    Anybody?
    I much appreciate your help.

    Linc,
yes, I was able to view the file just fine before the migration to Lion and the MacBook Pro. And I have not had problems with most of the pdfs I have downloaded / opened in Safari / Preview / Evernote.
However, I cannot view a single pdf from this site, for example: http://www.swp-berlin.org/en/start-en.html. Pick any of their pdfs. Or, randomly, the newest one: http://www.swp-berlin.org/fileadmin/contents/products/comments/2011C17_bsh_janet schek_srj_ks.pdf.
Do you also have problems viewing them? (Again, I never had issues viewing their pdfs so I am reluctant to just blame it on them.)
    I hope you can help.
    Thank you very much already!

  • When I closed out of yahoo email, get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser.

When I sign off on yahoo email. I get a blank page on every tab if any are opened. I have to exit out & restart firefox . It does not happen w/any other browser. I have no malware or viruses. Please advise.

Actually, it's not obvious & common sense would dictate that users' bookmarks would not be left stuck to random computers even once they've logged out of the account. No one wants that if it's a public work computer or if they're traveling & use an Internet cafe. As I am not the only one who has noticed this issue or had bookmarks disappear/be deleted, in addition, common sense would indicate it's not really a very good system. And carrying around a flashdrive to run Firefox off of it is a good solution? Really? Just curious why a useful feature such as being able to login & use your preferences & bookmarks & then logging out removes your preferences when you're gone hasn't been developed. Yahoo keeps my preferences when I logout (it's called My Yahoo!). Maybe a My Firefox or My Chrome solution could be developed.
