  • Portege R100 - Random Blue Screen of Death (IRQL not less or equal)

    Hi,
I've been getting random "Blue Screen of Death" screens in the last few weeks. The error is "IRQL not less or equal" and it's performing a memory dump every time. If I get the error and try restarting the laptop after, I usually get the same "Blue Screen of Death" screen when booting.
I didn't install any new hardware lately. Last upgrade was about a year ago; upgraded the memory. I've tried replacing the RAM with a spare one I had and I was still getting the same error.
I didn't install any new software in the last weeks that would coincide with this error.
I'm monitoring the CPU temperature and I doesn't go higher than 48 deg Celcius.
I'm not an expert but I would assume this is purely an hardware problem ? Since I rarely hear the CPU fan, I thought it could be the CPU overheating.
But even after making the CPU fan run at 100% using a freeware called "Speed Fan" I was still getting the same random "Blue Screen of Death" screen.
I would really appreciate any feedback and help. I really like my R100 and would like to fix it.
    Mark.

Hello, I have a Portege R500 and I am also too having this error message. I was getting a blue screen when loading the pc advising of a memory dump issues.I ahve replaced the ram inside the laptop and this has failed to resolve the issue. I am now having the error, IRQL not less or Equal everytime. I have run a memtest86 scan and this did show up possible memory issues. SO I have replaced the memory chip again. Still showing up as memory issues.
You have mentioned this could be a cpu or memory controller. If this is the memory controller can this be replaced? or would a motherboard replacement be the best option?
I have not tried a re install of windows 7 32 bit as yet, As the memtest86 program has identified possible memory issues. Please can some one advise if replacing the cpu and possible memory controller would resolve this. Memtest log available if wanted.

  • Mid 2010 MacBook Pro: Will randomly blue-screen and Safari repeatedly crashes.

I bought my MacBook Pro in June/July of last year, and it has worked perfectly fine up to this point. However, for the past 2 months or so, my computer will randomly go to a blue screen and log me out. Also, Safari will crash several times (it had never crashed on me until the blue-screen problem started. Both of these issues surfaced at the same time). For the most part, the blue-screening problem only happens when I'm using the internet, but sometimes it will happen when I am offline as well. This is an infrequent/inconsistent problem, though. It will blue-screen and Safari will crash one week, but then it will be perfectly fine for the next three or four weeks. What's wrong/how do I fix it?

    Hi JRC8.8,
It sounds like you have been on the right track in trying to troubleshoot this issue. You may want to see if your MacBook Pro will boot directly to the Apple Hardware Test, as outlined in the following article:

  • Help! Random blue screen appears and won't go away also getting glitches.

    Hello,
So recently a blue screen has been randomly appearing taking up the whole screen, it won't go away until I hold down the button that turns laptop off. My screen has also been glitching and just now a glitch took up the whole screen then my background dissappeared to be left with this blue screen. Please help, I can't afford a new laptop!

That is odd and I'm not savvy enough to tell you what it means. But I'd venture a guess that you're in some kind of a debug mode. Again, a wild guess, but perhaps if you created a new admin account and log in with that, maybe the more (if that's the issue) will go away?
I'd start up in safe boot mode first and see if that helps. Maybe it's something running in your startup items?
Have you Googled the phrase? You might find something on a more technical Mac site that way? I just Googled <<event sysontoc>> and came up with a few leads you might want to check out.

Please help - Built this setup from new, Gcard and HDD used from old system. I used origianal installatioin on HDD to start with and when windows was loading up i got a
blue screen error for a split second and then it would restart but i was able to start in safe mode.
I then re-formatted and everything appeared to be working fine. I installed a few basic programs like winrar, firefox, Adware, Norton etc and out of nowhere i got the error and restart again it then happend on windows loading again and even in safe mode and selective startup. I was also able to load windows normally when it let me but it would restart with the error
    quite randomly.
CPU temp is stable and ive run memtest86 which was fine. One thing i have noticed in bios is my ram was recognised as 333 intead of 400 which i changed but to no effect I am even writing this post on this very system praying it wont crash on me.
    Any Ideas??? Thanks in advance.

    What toms tested !
    What Xbits said !
What MSI say ! :  As for ram your running double sided ?  in green slots ? this will set the speed to 333Mhz.
It could be the combo of running a 6800GT + 3500 (even though Venice's are not as power draining as other A64 core's).  The 6800GT needs  4 pin power, is there any other part on the same cable from the PSU ? Try it with only that on one cable. Have you tried prime 95and HD-tune! . I would also try update to the newest nforce drivers and BIOS then test each stick of ram 1 by 1.
Best to check out options before upgrading to a new PSU, because if it not the PSU your problem will still be there. And your bank balance that bit lighter. Then again PC's have a way of making endless holes in your pockets.
    Good luck !

  • Random Blue Screen Crash with 5S and iOS 8.1

Since upgrading to iOS 8.0 my iPhone 5S randomly gets blue screens and then crashes and goes into a loop of boot up, blue screen, reboot, blue screen, reboot...etc. My 5S did this again today when during my upgrade to iOS 8.1 via USB and I was forced to do a factory restore on it. The blue screen is still occurring after the restore and 8.1 upgrade. Is this a known issue? I was hoping this was going to get fixed with 8.1 but unfortunately, it doesn't look like it has.

    Same here,
yesterday i updated my 6 plus 64gb with iTunes.
After the update, my phone crashes (blue screen) in games (Maze Runner) and Safari.
I tried to downgrade to ios 8.0 because i didn't had any problem with 8.0 but iTunes says that the file is not valid "iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Restore"

  • Random Blue Screens

At random times the blue screen you see at startup before the purple universe picture loads up in the background covers the entire screen, with nothing else on, and then fades out to reveal where I left off. I'm wondering if this is a security breach or a bug.

I am having the same exact problem. I am continuing to search for other matching threads.

  • Random blue screen - all programs fail at once

    Hi everyone,
My MBP 7,1 has been frequently and randomly crashing. When it "crashes" a blue screen is displayed for only a few seconds, after which the computer displays my desktop with all programs closed. In otherwords, all the programs that were running crash, the screen turns blue and then it returns to my desktop. The problem makes it impossible to word process (or do anything, for that matter), because all informaton is lost when this occurs. There doesnt seem to be anything in particular that is causing the computer to do this. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

If it's under Apple Care, I would be taking that in immediately.
It sounds pretty serious to me.

    Hello,

Since December 2013, they have been experiencing random reboots (once or twice a month), so I ran debug on the memory.dmp and found that ntkrpamp.exe wa scausing this issue:

  • T400 Random Blue Screen and reboot

    Hey Everyone!
Back in October I upgraded my T400 with a Crucial M500 (240GB SATA SSD) and 8GB RAM. I successfully installed Windows 7 as well.
Its been about two months running strong (I think), but sometimes I'll be working on the computer and it will just restart (it happens while I'm away or sleeping too) and greet me with "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" with details of the problem.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the problem details...please help me!
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!!!

You run them manually? Sometimes I have the impression automatic updates can screw things. I would try to do a restore from a previous point of time to see if any update was the culprit.
Otherwise you can start checking the components. Use MemTest to check your RAM, CrystalDiskInfo or HDTune or similar to check the SSD and post here the results (if error appears)

  • Is anyone else experiencing their phone randomly locking up and going to a blue screen after the most recent update?

iPhone 5s Random Blue Screen after last Update

I have had 9 iOS devices either just show the apple log and go black or a dead battery even thou they were on the chargers for hours.
I brought them to the Apple store.  No one could give me an answer as to why it did it.  All you have to do to fix it is do this:
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. ...
When you see this screen, release the Home button.
From the consensus of the people in my office that did the iOS 8.3 update.  The ones that did the update while the iPhone or iPad was on a charger are not experiancing any issues.  The ones that did the update without being on a charger are the ones experianceing the issues at hand.

  • Blue Screen, kernel_data_inpage_error, disk drives missing on reboot

I just bought a new laptop, ASUS ROG G750JW, and installed a Mushkin Chronos 240GB SSD. I clean installed Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD, and kept the original 750GB HDD, as well as a 500GB HDD, as secondary drives. I have been having rather random blue screens.
I had to disable auto-restart to see the error message: kernel_data_inpage_error.
The fun part is that when I soft restart after the blue screen, my hard drives are missing from the BIOS. I have to completely power down and then restart it for the HDDs to be detected. Since all 3 drives go missing, I can be rather confident that the problem
is not caused by any one of the drives (i.e. my SSD is not defective).
The problem originally occurred when I was installing Office 365 - the laptop would blue screen every time I tried starting the installation. However, each attempt would proceed a little further and eventually Office installed, so I can't use that as a reliable
test. Other occurrences have been, as far as I can tell, completely random. I was noticing that the BSOD occurred often enough during Windows Update installs, but I could not find any significant correlation when I compared my event log to my update
log. I was able to install the most recent Windows 8.1 Update released this Tuesday with no problems.
I have run diagnostics on all of my drives, which come back completely green. I have run chkdsk and sfc /scannow, none of which reported any errors. I have also run Driver Verifier according to the instructions
in this article which did catch several "0x000000c4" bug checks, which I was able to narrow down to the miniport driver.
My last action was to disable checking this driver in Driver Verifier, and I have not since experienced any problems. I have just finished running a 2+ hour long stability test using AIDA64 portable trial version, which caused no problems.
Since my drives go missing when this happens (whether as a cause or effect, I do not know), I have no memory dumps or event logs to share. I have since configured Windows to save memory dumps to my laptop, but with no reliable way to cause the blue screen,
I've been unable to capture a dump yet.
Soooo who wants to help me fix this? I've been offered warranty RMAs by both ASUS and Mushkin, but until I can reliably reproduce the error and confirm the cause, I'm not sending anything back (cause I don't know
    what to send!).

If you don't have dmps lets take a look at your event viewer logs
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The
work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

  • MSI 770-C45 locking up/blue screening/other errors on boot

I recently built a new HTPC and have been having allot of problems getting it to boot.  It may take 10-15min of trying to boot up over and over with random blue screens, lockups, or errors that the C drive needs to be checked for consistency before Windows will finally load up and work.  At first I thought it was a bad drive, but according to Western Digital’s HDD Diag util, both the controller and the drives surface checks out OK.  I just wiped the drive out and reinstalled Windows 7 again, and this time went with IDE instead of AHCI, hoping it was a driver issue.  It only worked well for a day before the same problems started rearing their ugly head again.
At this point I don’t know if I have a memory issue, a CMOS setting wrong (which are All Auto), or what.  I hoping someone here might have an idea of what this problem could be.

According to MSI, my motherboard supports the following modules:
    DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600*(OC)
    http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodmbspec&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=171&cat3_no=656&prod_no=1812
This are the speeds of the DDR 3 RAM supported ,1600Mhz beeing done with overclocking ,because the CPU memory controller is no able to do 1600 by default.
    Quote from: Mavrick007 on 23-July-10, 02:39:51
When I look at the test results for my Motherboard:
    http://www.msi.com/uploads/test_report/TR10_1812.pdf
I see 1333 RAM list like PC11000 DDR III RAM (DDR-1333).  However, If I go to a site like Bestbuy or NewEgg and search for DDR3 1333, it shows results like Corsair - 2-Pack 2GB PC3-10666 DDR3 DIMM Memory Kit.  I see PC3-10666 and PC3-10600, but nothing for PC11000.
The only mention of 1333 modules on the test report is for 1333 OC
When you see the PC 11000 DDR3 or PC3 10666 specifications they are refering to the theoretical bandwidth ,it s related to the frequency of course ,but it s something else it s a data rate. Its wikipedia but it s good enough -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_3 Some specs are atipical like 10666 ,marketing thngyes
Search the internet for memory that works ok with your CPU ,look for "real" DDR 3 1066Mhz or DDR 3 1333Mhz."real" means that that memory should be able to run at those frequencies without voltage increase over the default one.Usually when a memory vendor says you need to increase voltage for a specific frequency it means that you overclock and that there is no warranty they will work in your configuration.
So you need DDR 3 1066Mhz or DDR 3 1333Mhz ,it needs to be AMD tested memory and it needs to be a known to work RAM on MSI motherboards timings wise.Look up on newegg and see what works.
The performance gaps between 1066 and 1333 are small in real practice and you can overcome some loss by using a "real" DDR 3 1066Mhz , tweaking different timings ,using Command Rate of 1T for example ( you may "feel" it smoother in desktop than a 1333Mhz at 2T).

  • Satellite X300 PQX31A - Blue screen appears for non apparent reason

    Hi,
I have had my Qosmio X300 for 2 months with no problems till now. I got some random blue screens so checked the driver site and found the Bios update 1.60.
I installed this now the blue screen thing is happening every time I push the machine hard. It does not seem to be getting hot but when I tried the ntune utility to find temps this made it blue screen every time.
I am starting to get a little lost how to diagnose this.
I cannot find the 1.50 bios to downgrade to.
The blue screens are IRQL, Page Fault ect. Seems to be in Adobe CS4, Matlab and ntune i.e. anything which tried to access the mainboard or pushes hard.
I have not installed before the first series of crashes.
    Any further thoughts?
    Cheers,

    Hi,
The bios is now 1.60 from 1.50 wich did not resolve the issue. There are no new display dirvers for this model. Sorry I can not remember the BSOD codes and currently dont have the laptop as I have sent it back to Toshiba. I suspect bad memory.
