1. Remove and replace avast! with Microsoft Security Essentials for temporary troubleshooting purposes as it's likely causing conflicts:
avast! removal -
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
MSE -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
2. AppleCharger.sys is listed and loaded which is the GIGABYTE On/Off Charge driver. See here for
details - http://www.gigabyte.us/MicroSite/185/on-off-charge.htm
Very troublesome software, so please uninstall ASAP!
3. Ensure you have the latest video card drivers via the manufacturers website. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only
issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your video card a try.
4.In your loaded drivers list,
dtsoftbus01.sys is listed which is the Daemon Tools driver. Daemon Tools is a very popular cause of BSOD's in 7/8 based systems. Please uninstall Daemon Tools. Alternative imaging programs are: MagicISO, Power ISO, etc.

  • Thinkpad T510 Random Bluescreens

    Hi all,
I've got a Thinkpad T510 (4313-CTO) that I am having trouble with. It is only about a month old.
What happens is, when I boot into Windows (including Safe Mode) I get a BSOD at varying stages of the bootup, sometimes I can use the machine for 3 or 4 minutes, and sometimes it just BSOD's at the Windows Loading screen.
The fact that it happens at various stages, in normal and safe modes, makes me think that it is a hardware issue. I'm not sure if this series (or any) of Lenovo's machines used the Sandy Bridge lot, but it is possible that it could be the problem.
It doesn't bluescreen in Acronis TrueImage that I loaded from the bootable CD.

Any help that anyone can provide is appreciated.

    ShaunSforza, welcome to the forum,
you don't mention which version of Windows you have installed, or if it's a factory or manually installed version of that system. Maybe you could add this information.
    Thanks

  • K7N2 bluescreens

I'm on my second K7N2 board. My problem is with both I keep getting seemingly random bluescreens in XP. I get a large variety of them stop:0x00000050, stop: 0x0000008e, stop: 0x0000000A, stop: 0x000000c5, etc.
My system's pretty basic really. Athlon 2100+, GeForce 3 Ti200, Sony CD-R, Sony floppy drive, 512MB Crucial 2700 DIMM and Antec TruePower 330W PS.
Would it be worth trying new memory? I'm at a loss trying to figure out this problem since it's throwing me problems from all over the map, bad hardware, IRQ conflicts, etc. Very odd.
I'd sure appreciate any help, thanks guys.

New ram is on the way. I called Crucial for a refund. The guy guessed before I told that I had an nForce. He said that unless you specify when ordering it's possible to get incompatible ram. They're sending me a new DIMM that is 'guaranteed to work'. We'll see. I'll know on Tuesday.

  • MSI x58 ProE and Corsair 12GB (3x4GB) RAM Issues

    Greetings!
New poster here with a question that I cannot seem to find an answer to anywhere. I've looked over the forums but have had no luck figuring it out. My goal is to identify the culprit and replace the appropriate parts.
I built this computer in 2009 with the intention of doing OpenCL/CUDA computing and handle all my multimedia. At the time, 6GB DDR3 RAM (3x2GB) was about all I could afford. The machine works great, but lately, attempting to do some video and image processing has been hitting limits on my available RAM. I also want to run a linux VM or two. I thought I would order the Corsair 3x4GB DDR3 kit from NewEgg and not have any problems upgrading. I didn't have any plans of running the 6 and 12 GB sets simultaneously because I thought there would be some sort of memory density/timing issues.
New RAM desired: Corsair Dominator with DHX Pro Connector and Airflow II Fan - DDR3 Memory Kit (CMP12GX3M3A1600C9)
Old RAM in system: Corsair Dominator with DHX Pro Connector - 6GB Triple Channel (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8)
Request 1: Can I mix the 6 and 12 GB sets (for a total of 18GB) if I keep the density the same across each set of slots? There are 3 black (primary) and 3 blue (secondary). I was thinking of putting the 12GB in black, and 6GB in Blue.
I placed the order, received it, and went to install it yesterday. Took the existing 6GB out and dropped the 12GB in, saw that BIOS recogized it with the right timings, and proceeded to boot Windows up. Blue-screen at the very first Windows logo. I thought "well that stinks, let's check to see if the RAM is defective through MemTest." Downloaded an ISO of 4.2, fired it up, and it hung right away. Hung in the "Address Test, Own Address" test. Big fat A note: BIOS and MemTest both recognized the full capacity of the sticks.
My next thought was "Well, one of them might be bad, let's try to find out which one." I individually put each one in the first slot on the board, ran MemTest, and showed 0 problems on any tests with each of them.
Summary thus far: Individually, each 4GB stick works perfectly. In combination, they fail. The full 3x2GB set works perfectly.
My next theory was that my board might be bad (even though the 3x2GB set in the same slots has no issues). Knowing that the first slot was good with every bit of memory I put in there, I left a 4GB stick in slot 1, and dropped a 4GB stick in slot 2. MemTest hung again. Thinking it might have been that one stick, I put the other one in there, and it hung also. So, slot 2 looks suspect. Move the sticks to 1&3, and they look fine, but that still leaves me missing 4GB of RAM.
I've followed advice and re-seated the CPU, looked for bent pins (none found), and tried manually setting the timings to the 9-9-9-24 that is printed on the sticks. No luck with any of that.
Request 2: So, my question to you is what am I missing? I feel like the board is the problem, due to the slot 2 problem with the 4GB sticks. However, my 2GB sticks don't have any problems at all in the same slots. Could the 4GB sticks require a little more power that my board might not be pushing out (the board is labeled at 1.5V, the sticks are labeled 9-9-9-24, 1.65V)? Would a bent pin be causing this that my eyes just cannot see? I read somewhere that a guy had a pin that was 0.25mm off that was causing his problems.
Or should I be looking at the memory? The 3x2GB set works fine, but the 3x4GB does not.
I'm not sure what my next step should be other than replace the RAM first, motherboard second. The RAM I just got, so I could RMA it if I knew exactly what the problem was. The motherboard is approaching 3 years old and presumably is out of warranty. I wouldn't mind replacing it, but I don't want to spend money right now if I don't have to.
I don't have a second machine to test on, although I'm trying to locate one (most of my friends don't build custom PCs). I have also tried putting the 6GB in the black slots and 12GB in the blue, but the machine doesn't work with that configuration either.
Request 3: Could someone explain how I could aim for 1066MHz on my RAM? I read that on the X58 Pro-E that this resolves most problems with random bluescreens. When I try to do this, I get lost in the numbers/options within the BIOS.
Anything else I might be missing? I'm out of ideas
Thank you all so much for the help!

    Hi and welcome,
You have 2 "bottlenecks": the processor and the mainboard.

Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) : 24 GB
    Memory Types : DDR3-800/1066
    Memory Channels : 3
    Max Memory Bandwidth : 25.6 GB/s

    • Supports six unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333*/1600* (OC) DRAM, 24GB Max
As you can see, above 1066MHz you need to overclock both the processor and the mainboard.
    I think for your config the best shot is 3 x 4GB DDR3-1333 (9-9-9-24 at 1.55-1.60V)

  • Wireless Problem in windows 7 intel wifi link 5100agn

i bought a dv7 1270us laptop in january. everything was fine until the last 3 months i started having small problems in vista. it would take 10+ minutes to connect and the speed would go up and down. then i installed windows 7 and am either having problems with the card or driver but ive tried every driver i can find and nithing has worked.. the wireless drops randonly. when it drops it doesnt lose connection the signal drops all the way down to one bar and i get maybe 10Kbps of bandwith well it takes 2 minutes to load a page of this forum atleast. When it drops it also only drops for maybe 5-10 minutes or else it stays like that until i restart but resarting always fixes it tempoparily for 10 minutes or so. toaday i tried to disconnect and reconnect to my network. as soon as i cicked connect i got a blue screen it pointed torwards netw5v64.sys i have tried re installing the drivers multiple times and the problem isnt resolved. i have sent the laptop in twice in the last 2 months one for the blue ray drive and wireless problems i am having now. they sent it back with a new blue ray drive and a new antenna for my wireless saying the card was fina it was a driver and maybe a new antenna would help with connectivity. well they were wrong. i got it back and it started overheating to 90+ degrees celcius and wireless problems were still there even though they re-imaged the hard drive so all drivers should be perfect.so i sent it back again. now i just got it back and they cleaned the heatsink and completely ignored my wireless problems. the sheet that states the repairs that were done has a circle aroubd cleaned heatsink/fan and thats it n comments or anything. then to make the icing on the cake there is a 3 inch long fairly deep scrath on my laptop i take verygood care of all of my laptops so that i can sell them used for more than a scratched up one. i am very disappointed in hp and almost dont want to send it back and loose it for another week just to get it back without anything being done again i am almost certain they would re0image the hard drive again and send it back since they didnt even do that the second time. okay back on topic is there anything anyone has heard t fix this so i dont have to send it in again. any help is appreciated

Intel! They make processors and a variety of motherboard hardware, but they seem to have a devil of a time making decent drivers. Particularly with their wireless NICs. Lately I’ve noticed a number of errors springing from the Intel WiFi Link 5100/5300 AGN family of wireless adapters. They seem to cause random bluescreen errors on Windows Vista systems. Fortnuately, there is a viable workaround:
-Right click on Computer and select Manage.
-After Computer Management opens up, go to Device Manager.
-In Device Manager, expand the Network Adapters category.
-Right-click on “Intel (R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN” and select Properties.
-In Properties, go to the Power Management tab.
-Under the Power Management tab, make sure that “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is unchecked.
Apparently, the driver for the WiFi Link 5100 can’t properly handle the device going to sleep, and pulls down the whole system. Hopefully Intel will fix this in future driver updates. Until then, this workaround will have to do.

  • Another X48C + DDR3 Thread

    Hey guys.
It's me again. I asked Mushkin again for the memory timings i should use and they gave me the timings. They alsosaid that i should make the Dram voltage between 1.8-1.9vand the NB voltage between 1.3-.1.4v. So far my pc is actually running stable, only been testing it a day while playing games.
The problem of the keyboard and mouse going dead while the sound goes into a loop haven't occured again. Only random Bluescreen's which may be driver related.
Here is the link to the Mushkin forum thread if you need to have a look.
    http://forums.mushkin.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14425
I would like to know what your opinion is of the high voltage and if you would recommend it? The values in BIOS @ 1.8v and above is in Red text. The guy at mushkin says that they dont know why it is like and that it should be fine.
    Thanks

    Quote
Your memory command rate is currently set to 1T which may have a negative impact on overall system stability.  Set it to 2T at all times.  This may give you a stability bonus and allow you to reduce the memory voltage somewhat.
Also, try to raise DRAM TWR, DRAM TWTR, DRAM TRRD and DRAM TRTP to "12".  And see how the result is in terms of stability and memory voltage.
One more thing: The SPD Tables for 666 MHz operation state "9-9-9-24" as the recommended main timings.  So I am not entirely sure why that guy is recommending you to set it to 8-8-8-24 as this will usually require increased DRAM Voltage as well.
Oh, and one more thing:  The performance level for the two memory channels seems to be "7" for the one channel and "8" for the other one.  Please test what happens if you manually set it to "8" for both channels (look for the tRD option in BIOS Setup).

  • Audigy 4 and B

Ive just built a new computer with a Amd X2 processor and an Asus A8N-E motherboard, nforce4 chipset. Everything is working great except when the Audigy 4 card is in the system. About once a day I recieve a BSOD which points towards the ctoss2k.sys as source of the problem. Ive now unplugged the Audigy and im using the onboard audio chip instead which give me no BSOD.
I would really appreciate if someone could explain the dump below and tell me exactly what is happening in my system.

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.

My laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad T520 4242-4UU
    Hardware configuration is:
    Core i7 2620M / 2.7 GHz - vPro
    RAM 4 GB
    HDD 500 GB
    NVS 4200M / HD Graphics 3000
    OS Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate
I've got this laptop on July, 2011. At first, it works perfect. But since 2012, the bluescreen problem, as attached, has happened frequently and really annoy me a lot.
I've reinstaled the Windows 7, and tried different driver, but none of them solve the problem throughly.
    The driver I've tried are:
    - NVIDIA Official
    - Verde 296.10 Driver WHQL
    - Verde 295.73 Driver WHQL
    - Verde 295.51 Driver BETA
    - Verde 290.53 Driver BETA
    - Lenovo Official
    - NVIDIA Optimus Display
    - 8.17.12.7593 (NVIDIA Graphics Driver)
    - 1.2.23.3 (NVIDIA HD Audio Driver)
    - 8.15.10.2538 (Intel Graphics Driver)
    - Details of this driver is here: http://download.leno...es/83de42ww.txt
Normally, bluescreen will happen when I drag a picture into Photoshop CS5, or open some PDF files with Adobe Reader 10.1.2. It happened so sudden, that I have not got a chance to see the picture be opened in Photoshop, or the PDF be displayed in Adobe, bluescreen befell. These are two major software came across bluescreen. However, when I reboot the laptop, and reopen the same picture, or reopen the same PDF, it won't cause bluescreen anymore. (But the Photoshop will prompt that the driver of GPU is crashed and has automatically turn off my GPU acceleration) It just like a random bluescreen by the god.
Other software, like Internet Explore 8.0, Firefox 10.0, QQ 2012, or came across bluescreen once or two, but not often.
It's so weird that I cannot figure it out why and how to solve.
Is there any friends have the same problem. Or any ideas to solve it?
Many thanks and wish everyone has a great weekend.

    Hi,
as far as I know you can only get a recovery CD from a Toshiba service partner. You can search for them on Toshiba's homepage.

  • BIOS Update Bootable or Update Utility

    Hi,
I am in the process of installing all updates on my new W520.  Regarding the BIOS, I noticed there are two options as following:
BIOS Update Bootable CD for Windows 7
BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7
Is it preferable to use one over the other?  What is the reason why Lenovo offers this choice?
    Thanks
    W520 (4270 CTO) | i7-2820QM (8mb cache) | BIOS 1.40 | 1920x1080 FHD | Sensor |
    Hybrid Seagate 750gb | 16 GB 1333 mHz RAM | 2000M NVIDIA GPU 2gb | Ultimate-N 6300 | Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can tell you that with previous models the bios update utility wouldn't run under a 64bit windows version so their solution was a bootable dos type disc that would do the flash, however I don't (personally) think it was designed well. The bootable disc will do the job just fine assuming there are no problems with the computer, but I had it destroy a computer because I hadn't realized that a used computer I picked up had a failing optical drive, so a few simple read errors on the disc and it flashed garbled data onto my bios chip and there is no easy way to recover.
Since your unit is new and in top condition, it shouldn't matter, and even if the bios flash did ruin your system board, it would be fixed under warranty, but if I was designing the bootable disc I would have it pause with a "do not continue if your system appears unstable", instead of having it continue no matter what state the system is in.
The update utility is my method of choice now, but keep in mind that you do need a stable operating system. a random bluescreen crash in the middle of a flash and you could end up with an unusable system.

  • P67A-gd65 boot problem after BIOS update

I'm not optimistic about this, but...
My P67A-GD65 was delivered with BIOS 1.5. (However, the stickers on both chips read 1.4.) I updated the BIOS to 1.7 using a DOS formatted USB flash drive. (The EM was updated as well.) Things seemed to be running OK.
I foolishly experimented with the 1.8A beta BIOS. I flashed from DOS again. After rebooting, I went into the settings to reconfigure the machine as it had been. The EFI screen hung, so I powered the machine down (from the button, not the PSU).
I've been unable to boot since. No display appears on the monitor. If it is powered down, the power comes back on for an instant, goes off again, and comes up again with nothing on the display. The USB keyboard and mouse never become active, as far as I can tell. I tried a PS/2 keyboard; no difference.
If this board has dual BIOS indicator LEDs, neither illuminates, which indicates that all is serene.
I have cleared the CMOS several times, using the jumper or the button at the rear I/O panel.
Any advice? Is there any way to force the use of the second BIOS? (I've read the MSI dual BIOS FAQ posted elsewhere, but didn't spot anything of use.)
    RMA time?

    Hi,
The blue screens started after a clean Bios flash to the 18b10 bios then eventually it stopped working complety (just doing the start up cycle over and over)
I had tried reseting cmos and it doesnt make a difference, the motherboard will not post , boot , start up at all so default settings cant be set (although reseting cmos would set to default anyway)
Each time the board goes through the start up cycle (i.e. upon pressing start button the board will start up with fans spinning for a second then shut down, start up again with fans spinning for a second then shut down, continuasly repeating until main power is removed) I have used a multimeter to measure the voltage read points on the board and they show that there is no vcore being suplied to the cpu but all other points show the voltage is being supplied to those componants, so imo that is where the problem lies and I would sugest that the other ppl who are having this issue to also try  measuring the voltage read points and see if the same thing is happening on thier boards .
If others are getting the same results (no vcore) then the msi techs should be informed of this issue..(imo)
1.8b10 still is a beta bios. I got random bluescreens with that one also at some point a blinking bios led. So I flashed back from secondary bios (using the first option (change disable in enable)in "security" in the EFI shell to allow flashing from secondary bios), blinking bios led now stopped, Then I flashed with 1.7, no issues sofar cpu now running stable at 4.5Ghz (already 2 days).

  • P67a-c43 boot loop after bios update

Last night, I attempted to update the bios on my P67A-C43 (B3) board using the version 5.1 bios. After the BIOS installed, it restarted and came up with the "all settings were reset to default values. press f1 to run setup. press f2 to continue" I hit f2 and my system keeps resetting in an infinite boot loop. I was able to reset the BIOS using the reset button on the back of the board to get back to the bios prompt, but pressing either f1 or f2 puts it back into the boot loop. Any help would be appreciated.

  • MSI K8T Neo FIS2R - Memory problem???

I have bought myself a second stick of ram for my computer, being careful to make sure it was exactly the same brand and model.
In spite of this I now get random bluescreen errors of varying types, the first was PFN_LIST_CORRUPT and the latest:
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
    STOP: 0x00000050 (0xC5AD0D7C, 0x0000000, 0x8050298A, 0x0000000)
Is the new ram incompatible?? this makes no sense though.....   ???

I have tried switching ram sticks around but no luck there
Got three BSOD's yesterday, no specific error just STOP: blah blah blah when trying to burn a CD and then after that just when using IE.....
........and then I played call of duty 2 for 3hours without a single problem
Today when trying to run FS2 open I got two IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors (with no driver mentioned)
Anyway, I have been doing some research on socket 754 athlon 64's, and I found some interesting info from AMD:
Where MSI says that the board supports that config at DDR400. so the board supports it but the CPU doesn't! what is the point of that??
I tried running at DDR333 but the CPU stuck at 1.8GHZ (150FSBx12) according to everest
Is it possible at all to run two sticks of Double sided ram at DDR400? surely someone has done it and has it working....
Another thing, after the first IRQL error my computer hung at detecting the CD-RW drive and I had to turn off and on again  ???

  • MXI-3 with PXI-7344 etc blue screens

    Dear support folk,
This is a follow-on from unsolved problem discussed below. I have this problem on multiple computers now with varying severities. One machine is unuseable due to the frequency of blue screens. Is it our C-code perhaps? Please help - this problem is going to be the death of me!
    Old question:
"Okay, this is driving me crazy! I've asked this question before and really didn't resolve the problem fully so here we go again. I have an MXI-3 card with PXI-6052E, 6508 and 7344 in cPCI chassis. Trouble is I get random bluescreen errors (especially towards the end of boot process but they can be anytime). This happens on just about every machine I install this hardware configuartion on. Disabling stuff like the c
om ports and killing background processes such as virus scanners seem to help a little but have never solved the problem. The latest installation won't go at all and bluescreens every time. I tried a Win 2000 installation and the boot-up blue screens disappeared but our software would not work properly (this could well be our fault though so I will restrict my question to the boot-up bluescreens). Any help would be very much appreciated!"
    Old answer
    "Hi,
There was a bug in the MXI-3 software that could cause a Windows page fault exception (0xE) on Windows 98. It is very rare, but there is a patch to fix it. I attached it below. If this does not solve the problem, please email us so that we can help you further. Go to http:\\www.ni.com\ask and select Email an Engineer. You will want to select PXI/VXI for the product.
    Thank you,
    Katie Shiels

    Marcus,
The most common cause of problems with MXI-3 systems is simply not using the correct boot order. I would first verify the proper boot order (chassis first, then computer). Verify that the LINK LED comes on right after the computer boots, and that the LINK LED never, ever, blinks or strobes during operation. If the LINK LED goes out, strobes, blinks, etc, then a hardware problem with the link (PCI-MXI-3 board, PXI-MXI-3 board, or cable) is indicated.
If you continue to have blue-screens at boot, then the next step is to "divide-and-conquor" the system. What we want to do is make sure that none of the cards in the PXI (or CompactPCI) chassis are themselves causing the problem (for example, if a card has a resource conflict). For troubleshooting purposes, remove all cards from the PXI chassis, shutdown, and then power-up again with the proper boot sequence (chassis first, computer second). If the problems disappear, then a problem or resource conflict with one of the PXI / cPCI cards is indicated.
If the blue-screens continue, even with the hardware removed, then the next step would be to uninstall the MXI-3 Optimization software. What we are going after here is if it is during the run (every time at boot) of the MXI-3 optimization software that the blue screen occurs.
If none of these indicate the problem, then the "divide-and-conquor" approach requires us to determine if the problem is with the MXI-3 kit itself, or something specific to that computer. Two things to try. The first is to try the MXI-3 kit on a different machine. The second is to try another MXI-3 kit (if available) with that machine.
Through these steps, you should be able to isolate a single piece of hardware (a PXI card, the MXI-3 kit, the PC, etc) that is common to the problem.
(note, the bug referred to by Katie was specific to running the MXI-3 optimization software, not the MXI-3 hardware in general - so if you are seeing the problem she referred to, you should see the blue-screens disappear when the MXI-3 Optimization software is uninstalled).
As always, National Instruments Technical Support is only a phone-call away (7am - 7pm CST) if you want to work with a NI engineer on this procedure.
