Random bookmarks, one at a time, changing folders?

My problem began with the previous version of Firefox and continues with version 26.0. My HP Compaq dc7800p convertible is running XP Pro 2002 with Service Pack 3 installed.
I will look for a particular bookmark, and it will not be in its correct folder. I have to search all of my other bookmark folders until I find it, then move it back to the correct folder. This problem only occurs with one bookmark at-a-time and approximately once a week. So far, it has never been the same bookmark, always a different one.
These are just three examples:
1) A bookmark for Filmjunk.com, which is normally under "podcasts", was under my "local" folder. I access FilmJunk several times a week.
2) An article I wanted to read later from AMC.com, which I placed in a "general" folder, was found under "games". The article was bookmarked approximately 30 days prior to my deciding to read the article.
3) A bookmark for citizens Bank was filed in "Betsy", but was found in a folder for my school "ECC". This last bookmark I had not used in over a year!
I have reset Firefox several times, re-imported my bookmarks from Internet Explorer 8. Each time, after a day or so, the problem begins again. There doesn't appear to be any correlation between when I last used the particular bookmarks and where I find them or even where I originally placed them.

You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

  • I can only import bookmarks one at a time?

When I navigate to my favorites folder it only lets me select one at a time? I have hundreds to import. How can I do the whole folder??? Control/select & shift/select won't work to select the list.
My old computer was backed up online including favorites. I downloaded them onto the new computer but firefox won't let me select more than one at a time with either the import or restore functions.

Export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • Where did "Boomark all tabs" go? I only see how to bookmark one at a time now. :(

In versions before 4.0, there was an option that let you "bookmark all tabs" as well as an option to bookmark individual tabs. It has gone with the new version and I used it all the time and it will be a pain without it. I hunted through options and couldn't find anywhere to turn it back on. Is it gone or am I blind?

    * "Bookmark All Tabs" no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

  • With Firefox4 I no longer get the "Organize Bookmarks" option. I can only edit bookmarks one at a time with the "star" button

I still have the bookmarks list, the toolbar, and all of my old bookmarks, but the option to "Organize" them is not there.

The option is now called "Show All Bookmarks", and it opens the same window as before.
Took me a minute to figure that out.

  • For some reason, I can not delete bookmarks. I did one at a time, then tried 5 or 6 and it worked once then no more. I then tried 1 at a time and it worked once the no more. This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago.

    # Question
For some reason, I can not delete bookmarks. I did one at a time, then tried 5 or 6 and it worked once then no more. I then tried 1 at a time and it worked once the no more. Why is this happening? This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago. Do not know how the bookmarks even got in there. Some were ok, but no order and some that were never bookmarks. Looks like FF tried to import some BM's from the Virtual XP installed, but did not get it any where near right. I need to completely delete all of them and install from a saved .html file.

Well, I did not see the exact problem that I was having listed in the articles, BUT the problem is solved for now.
I opened FF and the Bookmarks to Organize again. I deleted all of the folders and entries, ONE AT A TIME, AND IT WORKED. Evidently, for what ever reason, FF did not like "Batch" deletes of ANY amount greater than 1 and the HANG UP would occur.
Deleting one at a time then importing the good .html from a good file, loaded the wanted Bookmarks. Yea

  • When I upgraded from v4 to v5 my bookmarks was lost. I do have the one that is in the firefox toolbar. Apparently I had a bookmarks add-on. V5 changed my browser how can I determine what the program was and if the bookmarks are still there?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • On my windows Itunes I changed computers and ended up with two of every song. How do I delete the duplicates without doing it one at a time?

I have duplicates of all the songs on my windows 7 computer.  I changed computers and ended up with duplicates of all of my songs. How can I delete them all without having to do it one at a time? thanks!

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

My apple ID password works for all of my devices but one.  i only have one account and have changed the password several times but still cannot get it to work on my iPhone.  any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris.  I actually did not resolve the issue which is why i did not post an answer.
it turns out that my iphone seems to default to an incorrect User ID (it defaults to an @me account, which is not something that i have ever used).
even when i change the User ID in my settings for the iTunes store, it still appears when i attempt to get updates for my existing apps.  however, it does seem to use the correct ID when i attempt to purchase new apps.
If someone actually had an answer to correct this, i would love to update my existing apps.
    Thank you.

  • Do I have to change file associations in Windows 7 one at a time?

I changed my ancient Paint Shop Pro for Elements 11 but the file associations are still PSP. I can change them one at a time but that will take forever! Is there a way to associate all the appropriate files in one go?  I managed it many years ago in PSP and Windows XP but have no idea how; I'm hoping someone will know. Thank you.

    ok.
You can add to this menu.

Not sure this will work but if you go into the Keyboard preferences, then click the Keyboad Shortcuts tab, and then the '+', you can add your own shortcuts for any application.  I am not sure what happens if you try to override an existing shortcut since I haven't tried using this.
    Edit/Update:
Probably against my better judgement I'll also throw this out there - there's an Unsanity haxie called Menumaster which might also allow you to do what you want.  Against my better judgement because personally I stay clear of haxies.  It's (all haxies) probably almost certain to break in Lion.  They always do with each major release.

Firefox doesn't store the bookmarks as separate files in a folder, but uses a sqlite database file with the name places.sqlite.
You will have to export those favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"

  • HELP!  Is there a way to change column information in iTunes such as name of artist, genre etc, other than deleting them one at a time? Such as the way you delete an entire group of songs by holding down control keys or selecting the Select All command.

HELP!  Is there a way to change column information in iTunes such as name of artist, genre etc, other than deleting them one at a time? Such as the way you delete an entire group of songs by holding down control keys or selecting the Select All command. Thanks.

If you select all the songs you want to change, Be it one song or an akbum, or an Artist, Or Genre, or playlist. Then Right mouse click  and Get Info. You then get a slightly different from normal Get Info box as this is the One for Multiple items.
In there have a look at the tags and see if the one you want to changes is in there. There are a few tabs so if for example you wanted to change the Media Type from Home Movie to Movie go to the Options tab and select Movie and OK and it will change the whole selection.
