Random BSODs disappear when I uninstall BootCamp on MBP 13" late 2011, w7 x64

Hi, I am wondering if there are faulty drivers in the latest version of BootCamp 4.0 (downloaded on 29.05.2012).
I have MBP 13", late 2011 (MBP81.88Z.0047.B27.1201241646, 24/01/2012), and have installed on it Windows7 Ultimate SP1 x64 using BootCamp. Prior to unistalling BootCamp software, MBP was randomly freezing under Windows7 with a clumsy display. It was logging nothing to the dump files. I have run several times driver verifier and all the times recieved c2 BSOD until I unistalled BootCamp!!! (I can post the dump files if needed.) After that, although I have no access to special features of keyboard and trackpad, I have no problems in Windows and MBP runs fine under driver verifier's stress tests.
An interesting observation that I can make is that without BootCamp CPU cooler seems to be noisier.

  • Windows 8.1 for MBP 13" late 2011 BootCamp

Hi guys i have a MBP 13" late 2011 and I am installing windows 8.1 using bootcamp from an usb. I have reached the Install Windows part on EFI device ( the yellow usb). It is the part when i have to choose partition (1-4). Partition 1 is the Macintosh HD and partition 4 is the bootcamp. When i was about to choose the partition 4 it said that it can't be chosen because of windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space because. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much before.

    Hey Timothyrg,
Long story short, if your computer doesn't meet the requirements, it doesn't meet the requirements. There are some Thunderbolt -> PCI X boxes that can run almost any GPU. However, in OS X, a Thunderbolt Aware driver for the graphics card is necessary for these to work. This is a limitation of the OS, not the hardware.
As to what a GPU is, it stands for "Graphics Processing Unit." This is a chip that's designed to manipulate and alter memory to accelerate the creation of images. The better the GPU, the higher the FPS/details that can be loaded at once.
    tldr;
If your system doesn't meet the requirements due to graphics card limitations, it doesn't meet the requirements. You can't open your MBP up and throw in a new GFx card. If it's RAM limitations, that's fudgeable a little bit. If it's processor (CPU), you're in the same boat as you were with the GFx card.

  • I have MBP 13 late 2011:Will it be able to support a 3tb hardisk?Secondly, if i delete a song from itunes,is that song removed from the mac and is the space freed up?If not then what should I do to free up space when i delete songs from itunes?

    I have MBP 13 late 2011:

Secondly, if i delete a song from itunes,is that song removed from the mac and is the space freed up?If not then what should I do to free up space when i delete songs from itunes?

Your MBP will support a 3T HDD provided it is formatted correctly and has sufficient power.  Most large HDDs require an outboard power source.
When you delete songs from iTunes you will get a message if you want to send it to trash.  If you send it to trash, space will be freed up only when you empty trash.  An individual song does not consume much space so if your HDD is becoming full, more drastic action s should be considered, such as moving an entire file to an external HDD.
    Ciao.

  • Random music disappears when ipod is unmounted. help.

i have music on my ipod that is only accesable when it is attached to my computer. when i unmount the ipod the music doesn't appear in any of the menus. plug it back in to the computer and its there and can be played through i-tunes. i've installed the current update and tried a reset. it seems like a bug involving the table of contents or something.
have you heard of this or do you know what i can try to get my ipod to list and make availabe all the music currently stored on it?

i always eject my ipod and any other drive before i disconnect it.
i also shut down my computer before i do something like remove the battery.
i'm an audio engineer and i know how to use a mac and the drives i have connected to it.
the problem with my i pod seems to be with the software on it. it has the mp3's stored on it. i can locater them through various apps on my computer. they just don't appear in any menu (artist, album, genre, etc.) when the ipod is not connected to the computer. when it is connected they are available to be played from the itunes interface. i click on my ipods music menu and they are there and i can play them. this alone indicates that the files are not corrupted, have an identifiable script for their name, are organized properly by artsit, album, and so on. but after i eject the ipod they can't be accessed through the menus. like the menus on the ipod need to be updated so that they contain a path to the music on the ipod. and to be clear this is only random files. most of my music appears in the menus.
as a side note, my wife has an identical ipod and all the music on mine was also put onto hers on the same day. these files can be accessed on hers when it is not connected to the computer, once again indicating that the files are fine and that the problem is with my ipod alone.

  • Bootcamp: Macbook Pro 13' late 2011 won't boot from USB, no superdrive.

Some months ago I replaced the superdrive in my Mac with a SSD. This resulted in my Boot Camp not working, therefore I deleted it. The thing is that I have been wanting to install Windows again but it just seems impossible. I find myself pretty confident at a computer, so it frustrates me really.
The thing is that no matter what I do, everytime I boot up from windows installation USB, Windows 7 and 8, or something like it, it gives me "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key". I searched everywhere to solve this problem and nothing helped. I tried different images, even 32bit of both Windows 7 and 8. Even tried with my original Windows 7 64bit dvd. There is no more solutions out there on the internet I can find, so therefore I'm shouting out for you guys!
Here is what I already tried.
    - Altered Bootcamp so it would create a bootable USB from a windows image. Worked like a charm, except that it would boot up to "No bootable device...". And the USB didn't show up in the boot menu pressing alt when booting. Tried four different usbs and the same story with all of them.
    - Tried with a SATA-USB connector to a 250gb harddrive, "No bootable device...".
    - Tried to make my own bootable USB on a Windows-computer with bootsect.exe/nt60 and everything, also Microsoft own program for the purpose, "No bootable device...".
    - Tried with making a partition on both my HDD and SDD in the Macbook to boot from, "No bootable device...".
    - Tried transfering all the files of the image to the created boot camp-partition, "No bootable device...".
    - Reset PRAM with cmd+alt+p+r, "No bootable device...".
    - Installed rEFlt, because the standard boot menu would not recognize anything else than my Macintosh SD. It did work so I could see my windows devices but still didn't boot, "no bootable device......".
    - Tried to boot with rEFlt with all the before mentioned methods.
    - I even desperially installed Windows from a pc on the HDD and tried to boot it on mac.... same **** story, "No bootable device...".
I really hope that someone can figure this out, because I'm ripping my hair out. I simply can't get this **************** to boot anything Windows .

Can I rebuild the USB flash drive using the discs that came with the new Macbook and if so, would they be the resulting USB flash drive be backwards compatible with my older Macbook Pro?
Yes. The version of Mac OS X that shipped with the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros is newer (even though it's still numbered 10.5.5) than the version of 10.5.5 that's available from software update. You will have to startup the MacBook from the original install disk that came with it and choose to install Mac OS X onto the USB drive. NOTE: If you want to keep any software or files that were already saved on the drive, choose only "Archive and Install" or "Update" options. (Not the "Erase and Install" option.) In my experience, though, the only option was to "Archive and Install".

  • MBP 13" late 2011. when I turn it on it goes to an update screen then just shuts down

Lately I had problems  when I recharged the battery, charging is constantly interrupted... And now, when I turn it on it goes to an update screen, then just shuts down.  O.S: MAVERICKS
    PLEASE  HEEEELP!
    P.D: Sorry for my english.

    LaCalle,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, select the First Aid tab if it’s not already selected, then press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get past the update screen now?

  • Help please! In InDesign DPS, my folio files are fine, but when previewing, random elements disappear?

I tried resetting my preferences, and I updated my DPS Tools... not sure what else to do.

  • I uninstalled bootcamp but when my MacBook Pro starts up, I still have to press "alt/option" when the screen goes grey. Otherwise, a black windows screen pops up. What am I doing wrong?

At one point in time, I believe I had attempted to install bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. My university support center said that I had to press "alt/option" when starting up everytime, otherwise it would be a black windows screen and I had no idea where to go from there. (So I never was able to fully utilize the Bootcamp application. Unfortunately, even after I uninstalled bootcamp, this is still happening. How do I fix this? Thank you.

You should have asked us and looked at 10 posts a week -- same as yours.
OS X: System Preferences: Startup Disk control panel
    Set and done!
x = Mac OS X on startup also
And no to needing to hit Option every time. Obviously they never actually booted and used Mac.
All it was is the startup parameter was saved and still set to look for a partition that does not exist and got lost.
ZAP PRAM is also helpful but you would still use Startup Disk.
About This Mac.... More... will also take you to control panels (why System Prefs if they are control panels? to be different?) as well as S.P. from the Dock

She would have to ask her carrier if they unlock iPhones and if she qualifies for this service.

It opens after initial install of 3.6.8, but as soon as I add the roboform and downthemall add-ins it restarts and won't open again.
I have had these add-ins for awhile without issues, but for the past two days, I have had to reinstall it twice, and this time it won't work.

  • Random BSOD after installing port replicator drivers.

Hi, my boss just got a new laptop (TP T400s running Windows 7) and after configuring it, it was working fine. But then I installed the drivers for the USB port replicator with digital video and after rebooting, right after the login screen, it BSOD, complaining about igdkmd64.sys. Rebooted again, it didn't crashed upon login this time, just a little while later when clicking on the start menu. After more test, the replicator seemed to work, but not the digital video port. The DVI connector didn't worked correctly, just the mouse pointer was being displayed. Trying to set resolution didn't do anything and switching output source via Win-P provoked a strange flickering for a minute or so and then the machine automatically rebooted. Tried the driver found on the CD (1.0) and also those available through Lenovo website (1.5.6.8), always the same thing. Now I've uninstalled the drivers and the random BSOD keep reappearing.
Is this issue common? Is the port replicator faulty or is it the ThinkPad? Is the windows installation screwed, can it be repaired? What is Lenovo return policy?
I've also seen lots of complaints on this forum about random shutdown, this would be as unacceptable for us than the current BSOD we're experiencing. Is that situation widespread?
P.S.: We're trying to get work done, not beta test Lenovo products!
    Thanks

The win7 driver for the usb port replicator with digital output is not out yet. So, you cannot get it work under win7. I recall seeing an official flyer of the product, in which there is a line stating that a win7 driver will be out in December.

  • Gt70 dragon edition 2 random bsod

hello everyone ,, 4 days ago i bought a new msi gt70 dragon edition 2 with these system specs
    i7-4700mq processor
    nividia geforce gtx780m
    750gb +128g ssd(super raid)
    ram 32gb
    os: windows 8
and i got random BSOD's a lot until now i got like 8 BSOD's and it just happens randomly .. i tried a lot of thing ,, changing drivers , deleting programs and even the (Killer's network drivers only [without software suite])
driver ... please tell me what to do .. this is the dump file to read the error or something like that
although i tried attaching the file on the post but i couldn't so i guess i'll have to upload it to mediafire
    www(.)mediafire(.)com/download/d82175lxyof34zd/SF_04-01-2014.zip   <<< please remove the () between the .
guys please tell me if it's something related to the hardware so i could replace the laptop itself within the given days because i bought it couple days ago

Okay. I see the confusion. He is using the drivers that Svet recommended. Which are slightly newer than your own, but are also without the Killer Network Manager and must be installed manually. (10.0.1.263 for the Wireless and 8.0.2.42 for the e2200)
My issues with the wireless seemed to go away with Svet's drivers - which was essentially a newer download pinned to the forums of what Warner gave to you. He could give Warner's a try but they basically are the same. I assumed my issue didn't go away as I was having another BSOD issue that didn't exactly specify which device was causing the BSOD.
As for my issue - I have uninstalled the Logitech software and haven't had a crash within the past day and a half. I noticed the longer I have the laptop on, the more likely the BSOD. So, I am leaving it on all day playing games off and on.
I did notice that SetPoint does install software that is meant for keyboards. Simply because Logitech has a unified driver suite between their mice and keyboards able to use a single wireless dongle, eliminating the need to use one for each device. This could, in theory, be causing an issue with the MSI SCM. Most people think of the SCM as a control app, but it also installs a service (called Micro Star SCM) which handles event communication between several different driver packages/software. This is why when the SCM is uninstalled, the keyboard light manager fails to start up as well as Hybrid Power and a few other MSI apps. If uninstalling the Logitech software does work, then it could be that the keyboard manager in SetPoint is intercepting events that should be going to the SCM service.
If it crashes again, I will swap out the mouse itself. I'll update my thread on this issue on the next crash or in a few days if I have no further issues. I'm crossing my fingers and thanks for the tips.

    EDIT: RESOLVED
For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick.  I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally.  I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again.  I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time.  Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black.  I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
    Hope this helps someone else!
