Random connection dropout issues, stumped the cable guy!
Hi, we just got our internet upgraded and it is blazing fast. We are now using a Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 modem with speeds up to 50mbps.
The bad news is that my Macbook and Mac Mini have started having random dropout issues. It is running really fast (almost instant webpages) and then sits when trying to load a page for a long time. Generally, it's when I try to go to a page and nothing is loaded yet. It says "sending request" at the bottom-left side of the screen. Here's some more details about it:
- It seems to only be a problem on the mac platform. My wife has a Win 7 PC and she has had no problems. They cable guy also tested his PC with no problem.
- It happens BOTH wired and wirelessly. Same dropout issues.
- It didn't happen with the previous, comparatively slower cable modem
- It seems to happen randomly on both the Macbook and Mac Mini
- It happens no matter what browser I use. I tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox
- It may work for a long time, like half a day, and then start acting up again. I can usually get it to start happening if I try to open a lot of tabs and load pages consecutively.
My cable provider is going to check with some people and get back to me after the weekend, but so far he is stumped.
Anyone have any ideas what to try?

Cisco ASA 5505 Ipsec VPN and random connection dropping issues.

We are currently having issues with a ASA 5505 Ipsec VPN. It was configured about 7-8 months ago and has been running very well..up until the last few weeks. For some reason, the VPN tends to randomly disconnect any user clients connected a lot. Furthermore, sometimes it actually connects; however does not put us on the local network for some reason and unable to browse file server. We have tried rebooting the ASA a few times and our ISP Time Warner informed us there are no signs of packet loss but still unable to pinpoint the problem. Sometimes users close out of VPN client completely, reopen several times and then it works. However it's never really consistent enough and hasn't been the last few weeks. No configuration changes have been made to ASA at all. Furthermore, the Cisco Ipsec VPN client version is: 5.0.70
Directly below is our current running config (modded for public). Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, if everything looks good...then I will defer back to our ISP Time Warner:

Stumped the Tech Guys...
Alrighty, I just spent 1 hr 45 min on the phone with an Adobe Tech named Dan, and didn't get this problem solved. If anyone on this forum knows the solution, you would be a living god to me.

I'm trying to install the Adobe CS3 Production Premium package on my new computer. After I select "Install Adobe CS3 Production Premium" from the initial dialog box, a new box saying "Initializing Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium" appears with a progress bar. When the progress bar completes, nothing happens. The license agreement window fails to launch. I've tried copying the Adobe CS3 folder to my desktop and running setup.exe alone with no success.
When I use the same disks on a different computer, the license agreement launches.
With Dan, the Adobe Tech, I ran through the solutions found at:

None of these solutions fixed the problem. I'm supposed to get a call tomorrow morning from Dan or his supervisor, but if anyone can take a shot at it, I'm all ears.

Then about two weeks ago I tried After Effects and get the C++ Runtime error. Others give the "Encountered a serious problem" and shuts down. Here is the line-up.

42SL417 Connection or Compatibility Issue with Explorer Cable Box 8642HDC
I have the TV listed above and recently switched to Brighthouse cable. Intermittently my TV loses the connection to the cable box and the input information (1080i, 720p, etc) comes up across the top of the TV and the picture resets. I had the cable guy out and he said that there was a compatibility issue between the TV and the cable box. I didn't get all the information since he talked to my wife, I was at work. I don't believe that this is the issue, but wanted to check to see if this was a known problem or if anyone has had a similar experience. My firmware is 2.2.2, which I believe is the most current. Any thoughts or ideas? The best I could get from my wife was that the box was trying to communicate with the TV to maximize resolution and the delay creates the connection problem. Before I call the cable company back, I wanted to get some opinions. My thought is that there is a signal problem since the internet had connectivity problems as well. He changed the cable on the internet connection and said that would fix that, but I can't believe they aren't related.
That is indeed the latest firmware.
You may want to perform a factory reset, as described on page 44 of your user's guide. After the reset, ensure your TV is off and unplug it for a few minutes. All your settings will be reset, so you will have to set up the TV again.
You might also want to try disabling CEC (page 39) or auto aspect ratio feature (page 47).
I don't know for sure that any of this will help, but these are your best bets. Unfortunately, if none of this helps, I'm out of ideas.

Hello and thank you for posting back. What it sounds like is the cable that connects to the screen from the motherboard has either come loose or has a issue after the fall.
To fix this it would have to be opened up and the connections checked. If there is an issue with the cable then it would have to be replaced. This will require either you opening up the system yourself and checking the connections and tha cable or sending it in for repair.

The cable to my integrated webcam/mic broke
I posted a problem about my integrated webcam/mic not working a few months ago. I was looking for the manul so i could take it apart and look at the cable to make sure it was pluged in. I didn't have time to do this until today. When i did I found that one of the wires (the black one) that connect the webcam/mic were broken, I'm guessing this got broken when my fan was relpaced. I am wondering what this wire/connection is called and if it would be cheaper to buy a new one and install it or if I should just buy an external mic and webcam? Very slow downstream + Connection dropout.

I hope I am posting in the right forum, as I urgently need some help with this problem.
I am trying to solve a problem on behalf of one of my relatives since I am the admin of their network. Recently their connection has been experiencing a very, very slow downstream speed. I believe, (but not sure) they're with Option 3 unsure of their speed, but previous tests have given somewhere in the range of 5-6Mb. They have the original BT HomeHub. I've performed tests this end, and I have run out of ideas, so any help would be good.
It seems the router keeps re-syncing with the DSLAM every few hours, connection time never surpassed 1 day. The internet is so slow here that I am almost unable to load a web page, to me it seems that the traffic has been severely throttled. I am unable to run the test at speedtester.bt.com because it gets stuck at checking user details, slow connection?
I ran a test over at speedtest.net that took nearly 5 mins for the page to load and got the following results:
Ping: 145 ms
Download: 0.13Mbps
Upload: 0.23Mbps
The DSL Connection page on the hub reads the following: (Some information is omitted)

So as you can see the downstream bandwidth is very low, which makes even loading this forum very slow. The Hub is connected to an Telephone extension cable, to rule out any issues on the cable and connections, I have directly connected the Hub to the telephone socket with no improvement in speed.
As a side note, apparently they exceeded their bandwidth at the beginning of the month so, only other guess is that their bandwidth is being limited due to exceeding their download limit, but that doesn't account for why their Hub keeps dropping its connection daily.
Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest RegardsStill connected to the test socket. Ran the quiet line test and held the line for about 20mins, noticed loud but intermittent crackle, tried with another handset, same result.
Contacted BT, they ran a line test, noticed poor SNR. Ran test at speedtester.bt.com with low throughput result. Chap on the end of the phone said (called via mobile) that speeds should be up to normal in the next 24hours. If no improvement after 10 days call back and they will send a tech out.
In a passing conversation with my relative, the last time they had crackle on the line was due to sevear corrosion of the telephone line entering the house at the outside junction box on the wall, and resulted in them cutting a whole length of cable off for rewire. If its corrosion again, then that would explain the poor SNR and a technician will be required to look at the box again.
I re-flashed the FW of the Hub, with its original FW, defaulted settings and that made no improvement. So guessing that the issue is certainly with the line, more likely at the circuit termination at the entry point to the property. -
Bluetooth connection dropouts, Mouse-MacMini
I have been experiencing random connection dropouts between my Apple wireless mouse and my mid 2010 MacMini. Connection dropouts typically last only a few seconds. Battery swapouts and replacements seem to have no effect. Anyone have an idea on how to isolate the problem to either the mouse, or the Mini? I guess i could try the mouse on my MBP and/or G5 PowerMac. I'm wondering if this might be a fairly common problem?
Well, after posting this question, i stumbled into the right discussion/community area, and found that the problem is nothing new. One suggestion was to turn off Airport. I turned Airport off, and now the mouse seems to be perfectly stable, smooth, and wonderful, as it was before i got the MacMini.

Connecting Apple TV to Comcast Cable...
I have a new Apple TV and also have comcast cable...also a oder bose lifestyle system (I know its not great sound). When we connect Apple TV to the HDTV via HDMI I no longer have sound out of the lifstyle system since it is connect to the cable box...Can we connect Apple TV to the Cable Box? Or does the bose system need to be connect to the TV so it works with both?..thks
The Apple TV also has an optical audio out. If the Bose has that kind of input you can connect to it and leave the cable box alone. If the Bose system does not have digital inputs, you can connect cable and ATV2 using HDMI to the TV and then connect the Bose to the TV audio out....

My ipod 32gb 1st generation battery went totally dead because the usb cable was defective. I have since replaced the cable but now itune will not launch automatically as it did before and windows xp does not recognize it. Nonetheless it is charging. However can i resolve these issues bearing in mind that i am not tech savvy?

Try disabling a/v software and turn off the Firewall on your PC.
Disable antivirus software
Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
Then connect the iPod to your computer. Launch iTunes. If your computer still won't recognize the iPod check out this article.

Once your iPod is functioning again, with it connected to your computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPod under Devices in the source list on the left.
Select the box next to: Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected
That way iTunes should open automatically when you connect your iPod to your computer.
And iTunes / Preferences - Devices. You can have your iPod sync automatically whenever it's connected from the Devices pane. -

I am trying to connect my laptop to my TV. The computer flashes blue after I plug the cable in but the TV says there is no signal.
I have a Mac Book Pro 2009 and a Samsung 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) 450 Series 720p LCD HDTV (2010 model).

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

Hi, I want to use my Capsule just as a back up via wireless. How do I set this up without connecting it with an ethernet cable to either a router or the iMac??
I misunderstood what Time Capsule is and had hoped for a wireless backup device that didn't have to be connected to the router.
The TC is a wireless backup device.. it does not need to be connected to the main router..
The problem is the computer.. not the TC.. the computer has only one wireless card.. if your current internet is by wireless.. then you must choose.. internet or backup.
But my other suggestion will work.. get a wireless USB stick compatible with Mac OS.. there are plenty and cheap.. since you are in the same room as the TC they will work fine.. plug it in and load the driver.. taint hard.
You should do the first backup by ethernet though.. wireless is too slow.. once you have that, you will do fine.
Search ebay for wireless n usb.. Mac compatible..

As you can see.. they are getting smaller and neater.
I have no idea if it works .. haven't tried one.. but I have used USB wireless stick on the Mac to overcome this issue.
You will need to set static IP .. not hard but you need to set specifics if you do buy one post again for the setup.
