Random corrupt video from 3GS

After transferring a number of video clips from my new iphone 3GS to my mac using image capture, I have found that a seemingly random number of them are corrupt and won't play.
The message quicktime kicks out is:
The movie could not be opened.
Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -50.)
I have found that maybe 2 or 3 videos out of 20 have this problem and just won't load. There was no difference in the circumstances or environment where the video was shot. I do a lot of work with video, quite frankly this is totally unacceptable. I may absolutely NEED a specific clip and it's just down to chance or not if it'll actually play.
However. I think I've found a work around, but it'll be nice not to have the problem in the first place.
A clip that won't initially play on the mac, that comes up with the error. If I trim this clip in the iphone and save and transfer again. It'll magically work!
Like I said, a workaround, but when dealing with a lot of video this is just not practical.
Anyone else having this problem?

I have had a simular problem with some of my videos. One that was too long, was trimmed so it could be emailed. And email it did, every minute it uploaded the video to my email server and I had over a hundred copies. I redid the yahoo.mail acount. I then resent the video and it did the same thing. I deleted it from the outgoing box and tried several others. They worked fine. It seems that the video that I had had trimmed for email was corrupt or something. It would show at the bottom of the phone trying to load and when it was sent, it would load again and again..again.
don't know if this is close to your question or not, but maybe when the 3.1 software is released, it will be addressed.

  • Uploadng videos from 3GS to MobileMe issue

Hi I am having problems uploading a video from the 3GS to my mobileme account which is longer than 60 secs .Is there some kind of restriction on the size of file you can upload ?
    Regards
    Nick.

    Me too.
The shortest video I have is 7s though most are longer. All crap out. The 3GS compress the video then sit on the MobileMe publishing screen saying 'loading...' for a couple of minutes before finally saying 'Unable to connect to MobileMe'. It makes no difference whether I keep it awake or let the power saving work.
In the UK, the use of MobileMe is profoundly frustrating. It's like a BMW 716. Lovely on the outside but gutless.

  • Transfering videos from 3gs to 4

    Hi
I'm about to switch from using the 3gs to the 4.  I've a whole load of videos that I've recorded on my 3gs.  Does anyone know how I can transfer them over to another phone?  I'm backing my 3gs up now and can't see the videos in iTunes anywhere.  But I know they're stored on my PC (somewhere).
    Thanks!

Do you have a Mac? I know in iPhoto '11, it manages both your videos and pictures taken with Camera for iOS (default camera application), which syncs to iTunes. Video files taken through the camera app count as a picture.

  • Can not xfer videos FROM 3gs

    Hi All,
I am having some major issues trying to get a video off of my 3gs to my computer(s).
I am on a Windows XP machine and every time I use the scanner and camera wizard it tells me "The current picture could not be copied." It (the scanner and camera wizard) then asks me to Try Again or cancel. Trying again does nothing.
This happens on two different machines.
Does anyone have any advice? The video is too large to email and I would rather not part with it.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried just going into "My Computer" and see if you can see the iPhone as a camera? Just cancel the scanner and camera wizard. From there, just doubleclick on the iPhone, you should see any pics and/or video in the iPhone. From there, just click and drag the video to the desktop. See if that helps.

  • Emailed Video from 3GS only playing in portrait

I have been taking video in landscape mode on 3GS and then emailing video. The attached video only plays in portrait even though I filmed in landscape. How do I fix this?
    Thanks

Seeing the same problem here as well. Will shoot video in landscape (camera shutter button on the right in landscape view); and then either watching the video on the iPhone or after sending off the video, it plays in portrait and NOT landscape.
This is annoying when trying to watch a landscape video taken on the 3GS. If you turn the phone 90º to view it as you shot it, the video rotates on the iPhone. Turn it back to portrait, then it goes to landscape. Try to quickly compensate by rotating the iPhone now that it's in the view you want it, and it rotates to portrait again.
VERY annoying. Landscape videos can be watchable in "Edit" view (sometimes), but it just doesn't seem to be working right.

  • MMS video from Iphone 3GS to Iphone 3G

I know we can send pictures from Iphone 3GS to Iphone 3G, but can we send videos from 3GS to 3G. I wonder because the 3G doesn't have the video feature and therefore, I suspect it won't be able to play the video. Someone knows anything about this?
    Thanks in advance

the 3G doesn't have a video RECORDING feature..... why would that prevent the 3G from being able to play videos? playing videos and capturing/recording videos are two completely different things.
    you suspect wrong.

  • Getting movies (not just video) from iPhone 3GS to Mac

I did the following in order (question at end)
    captured video using iPhone 3GS
synced video from iPhone to iPhoto on Mac
    imported iPhoto video to iMovie
    created movie in iMovie
used "Share" feature in iMovie to share the movie in iTunes (so I could play on Apple TV)
    synced movie back to iPhone
deleted movie from Mac (where iTunes was accessing it)
Now, the movie content only resides on my iPhone...can I get it back from the iPhone onto my Mac (so I can eventually get it back into iTunes)?
    Thank you in advance...

I've found another thread dealing with the video part of this problem, which, for me, has solved the image problem as well. Here's the thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2489460
Thanks to Grognard for suggesting this:
Step one: turn off and on your iPhone.
Step Two : launch iTunes and iPhoto
Step three : connect the iPhone to the computer
    Then importation will be possible.
Clearly this still seems to be a glitch -- these kinds of work-arounds are a huge pain. Hope an update will solve the problem.

  • How do I undelete video from iphone 3gs?

Accidentally deleted video from iPhone 3gs.

    Hi Friend,
If you placed the video using iTunes you can just sync your iPhone with iTunes again and the video will be in your device again.

  • Cannot e-mail video(s) from 3Gs

    Hi -
I have the new 3Gs and largely it is working well. However after I take video with the unit it does not allow me to send it? It compresses and shows up as a .mov file but the unit will not send it. It hangs for a long time and then gives me the "cannot send mail" error message.
Any thoughts? Until we have attachments in MMS this is the only way to send video from the phone so I need it to work.
    Thanks!

I had the very same problem.....I was using Yahoo, but any video longer than 10 seconds would not send. It is the server problem on Yahoo's end.
I switched to my gmail account to send video, and it works beautifully.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • I just want to sync photos not video from my 3gs. Possible?

Everytime I sync my 3gs with my computer videos from my 3gs that have previously synced to my computer sync over and over again.  My computer / itunes is not recognizing that it already synced the video.   It is taking all of my computer space!

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
Type "move itunes library" or similar into the google search bar to learn how to copy the itunes library.
Your computer should have a method for moving everything else (pics/docs/files/contacts/calendars/etc).

  • Stop recording randomly. Video is corrupted.

I used my camera to record myself riding a motorcycle. Whenever I stopped my bike to check the camera, I noticed that the camera had automatically switched off. I kept pushing the record button but got the same result all day long. I went home hoping that some of my day was caught on camera. They were priceless memories that I cannot get back. When I tried to retrieve the videos, they were all corrupted and not recognized by my computer except for a couple short test videos I took at a standstill. I have a Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSDHC Class 10 memory card. I have the camera mounted on my motorcycle with Ram Mount hardware. Why is my camera doing this? What can I do to fix and prevent this problem?

    Hello Kay,
Depending on the camera and battery temperature, the power may turn off automatically to protect the camera.
When you continue to shoot for a long time, the temperature of the camera rises.
If the temperature reaches above a certain level, shooting stops automatically.
Leave the camera for 10 minutes or longer to allow the temperature inside the camera to decrease to
    a safe level.
When the temperature of the camera rises, the image quality may deteriorate. It is recommended
that you wait until the temperature of the camera drops before continuing to shoot.
Ensure that the battery is fully charged before operating the Camcorder.
Set the “Auto Power Off” option in the Camcorder as OFF.
Did you try transferring the videos using PlayMemories Home (PMH) Software?
For importing the videos to the Computer, refer the below link.

  • How to transfer 1.7 GB video from iphone 3GS to pc

I have tried everything to import a 1.66 GB video from my iPhone to my PC running Windows XP. I have plenty of disk space.

The video plays on the iPhone, but the save to an external harddrive seems to time out. I tried the scanner and camera wizard but it just says error, try again, repeatedly. I copied a 30MB video, so I am thinking that the size is an issue and I don't know how to get around it. I tried opening the video in Quicktime but that failed too.
    Thanks for responding!
