Random crash caused by URLLoader

I'm trying to debug this extremely weird crash that we keep having which is being caused by URLLoader. For some reason it will spit out an error message "Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error..." but when I add an IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR it goes away and the event handler never gets called. Any idea what the hell is going on? Because this is really damn weird and confusing as hell. Is this event handler required or something? Because that's what it seems like.

  • As of Firefox 36, disabling OMTC causes random crashes

As of Firefox 36, disabling OMTC causes random crashes in Firefox. This is particularly concerning, as THIS very support site (support.mozilla.org) has "please try disabling OMTC" as a common suggestion for a number of screen rendering issues. I think that going forward, asking people to "try disabling OMTC" will only WORSEN the issue, as a catastrophic Firefox crash which could cause loss of data is much worse than a screen rendering glitch.
To be clear, I am referring to the following setting in about:config:
    layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = FALSE

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter '''about:crashes''' into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with '''bp-''' & paste them here into a forum reply. thank you

  • Pidgin 2.6.1 is randomly crashing. [Handwriting thing caused it]

Is pidgin 2.6.1 randomly crashing for you as well? It seems to be for me :S

Surprising. Most of my complaints are about the earlier versions, not the current repo one.
What you can try is disabling all sounds, somehow that used to help for me.

  • Security Update 2007-006 Univ causing randoms crashes

Right after i did an update yesterday, i have had around 6 random crashes where i have to hold down power button to turn comp off. This is after the screen does a fade from the top of the screen to the bottom, greys out. Happened once on launch of Safari, and other times when its idle.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    Cesar,
Wonderful. I'm really glad to hear that. I have not had a chance to do it myself but will soon. I feel I need to get a backup drive first, even though you managed without any problems. I did call apple today and got my case started and got a case number. I suggest everybody with this issue do the same. the more people reporting the problem the better.
also, i was told there is a battery update in downloads that does not show up when you do a software update. It is something you have to go and get. The techie did not know if it would help but suggested getting it since the issue does seem to be related at least in part to battery power.
Go to Support, then Downloads and scroll down until you find Battery Update 1.2.
I don't have my computer with me so i can't download it myself right now, but if anybody is willing to be the guinea pig, it may be worth a shot if you haven't already gone back to 10.4.9.

  • Smartview causing Excel to randomly crash

We have recently installed Hyperion Smartview 9.3.1.2 for a number of users who are now experiencing random crashes in Excel. they are not using Smartview at the time but this has only started happening since Smartview was installed and enabled. Disabling the plugin seems to stop this issue from happening. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? We are using Excel 2002 (XP) at the moment.

I found a fix for this issue and others involving smartview and Excel.
    1. Ensure Excel is closed down and is not in any browser sessions - checking the processes tab in task manager is a good way to ensure there are no hidden sessions of Excel open.
    2. Search the local user's C drive for *.xlb and be sure to check 'Search hidden files and folders' under advanced options.
    3. Delete all files with the xlb extension found. These are normally called 'Excel10.xlb' for Excel XP and are usually found in documents and settings folders under the user however they can be called anything with an xlb extension and can be located anywhere on the local drive and there can be multiple files so be sure to delete all of them - they will be recreated in the next step.
    4. Open up Excel. Any required .xlb files will be recreated when Excel opens.
These steps have resolved 3 different issues we had after installing Smartview. Hope this helps others.

  • IPod Classic 120GB random crashes

    Hi,
I have a iPod Classic 120GB that for the past year has been randomly crashing in the middle of playing songs. For a long time it was once in a while but then it became daily and now I can't even listen to a complete song.
I've done several RESTORES and for the first 24hrs it seemed to fix the problem, but now it seems to be deteriorating. Any suggestions? Would it matter if the host sync computer is a PC or a Mac? Possible problem in the code of iTunes that when syncing would cause a problem? Could this be a sign that the HD is seriously deffective?
Any insight or tricks to fix the problem is appreciated.
    much thanks

My new 120gb classic survived a 7 hour bus ride on Saturday without crashing once, however I was watching videos for most of the trip.
Over the weekend away I was using my small sound dock and again, no crashes what so ever.
After picking up my car from the workshop (the reason for the trip away) I plugged the classic into my Alpine IDA-X100 stereo (first time using the USB cable on the X100, as opposed to the older style connector) and no crashes at all during a 6 hour drive home.
And yet - after an hour of using the classic in the office with just headphones I've just had a crash.
This confuses me further - if it was firmware I'd have thought I'd have had crashes when using the sound dock, or car as well.
Have any of you who are also having crashes/skips seen this behaviour?

  • Why Mavericks 10.9.1 frequently & randomly crashes? Please Help! Here is a crash log...

Hi guys, since I have updated to Mavericks 10.9 I have been  getting rundom frequent (up-to 5 in a day) crashes. After updating to 10.9.1 - my MacBook Air Late 2011 still crashes.
    1.8 GHZ i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
If any of you could help me to understand the crash log! Probably we could find a reason for these random crashes!
Is there anything to see from the crosh log? Can you come to some guess/conclusion?
I'd be very thankful for your inputs.

It's the "Spector Pro" keylogger, and it's probably causing the panics.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

they are running the application off a citrix presnetation server 4.5 server (windows server 2003 R2 with service pack 2). each server is hosting about 8 or more users per server per day. every now and then, ie once a day, adobe acrobat crashes during use. there doesn't appear to be anything consistent in so far as the action the user is performing. they will be mid-way through marking up a document and it will just crash for one of them. all the others will continue working fine.
i have access to numerous crash dumps and nothing seems to really stand out...other than 'Acrobat_3000000!AVAcroALM_Destroy'. For example...

is 'AVAcroALM' to do with licensing?
other than advising them to bring citrix presentation server 4.5 up to date (HRP2) i'm at a loss what to advise. citrix often have issues with seamless published applications when spread across multiple monitors (as in this case), hence, my reason to ask them to bring their software up to date. often the funtion called will be different - often times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocCreateWordFinderEx', other times 'Acrobat.dll!PDDocAcquirePage' and there are others.
i can post more of the mini-dump if required. any - and ALL - assitance appreciated.
    thanks.

  • Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2

Been working on the SAME big project over 18 months, in Pr Pro CC, 2014, working on the SAME PC:
Win 7 SP1 pro 64bit, i7-3770K, 32GB fast memory (25.7 available for Pr), Intel HD 4000 graphics on Asus motherboard with 30" NEC Multisync screen at 2560 x 1600 (same as for years)
42GB free on my SSD drive C: and 54GB free on my SSD drive S: for preview files, 24GB free on my SSD drive T: for caching files.  Project files etc stored on a normal hard drive F: (for Files!) 1.25TB free.
NOW last update to 2014.2 and I get constant RANDOM crashes (Windows encountered a fault and had to close this program) despite updating graphics driver and trying different settings in preferences, use mercury etc.  No particular action causes it  - sometimes I am just watching it play a sequence and it just stops. Though of course it may be rendering the last edit at the time.
Sometimes it runs for all of 15 mins and I think the problem has sorted then it goes again and I have to restart the project, find where I was and re-do my last edits.  If I remember to press Ctrl-S very frequently (every few seconds) it seems to run for a while then I forget for 5 mins and it crashes.
Grrrr what did you do to the latest version, Adobe??  I need to get this project finally finished in a hurry.... I wish I had not updated the program!  Of course I cannot go back as it says the saved copy is now incompatible with earlier Pr Pro versions.
I then tried running a previous version at the same time, as simonray suggested in his post - it worked!  So I am able to continue as normal provided I do this stupid bodge fix.
So it really is down to Adobe as it is the same project, same PC, just different version update.  You did something to a great, stable, program that made it unstable, Adobe...
To ANSWER RAMEEZ from previous thread:
A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin. >>  DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING since 1½ years running previous PrPro versions on SAME PROJECT on SAME PC
the graphics driver  Checked for latest version - didn't stop the crashing
    third-party plug-ins - don't have any
a problem with the cache files. I am using the same 2 x SSD I have been using for years for autosave and caching. 54GB free space / 24GB free space (current cache in place)
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)  Doesn't apply
the Preferences files be set to read-only  How would that happen? Never happened before on any other update and I can change it.
the user not having administrator rights  Only one user on PC since installation, full rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting  Haven't changed anything
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.  I'm signed up to full Adobe CC. Everything else works, Ps, Lr, Id ...
A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

    Thanks,
    Rameez

Problem Solved! (with a small catch)
While searching crashing issues I came across this thread,"Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2"
Marc_Lec  Answered (and I paraphrase here)"...I had the same problem and this is what I did. In 'Preferences Memory'  I increased the memory reserved for other application to at least half the installed and changed the optimize render from 'performance' to 'memory."
Thank You Marc_Lec for what has been a game changer for me since my last computer and the beginning of PremiereCC problems.
I changed my Memory reserved for Other Applications from the default 7gigs to 1/2 of my approx.31 available Gigs = 16Gigs. Viola!
    No more crashing what-so-ever!
I still have to purchase an older  GTX 980 graphics card to take advantage of Adobe's approved code to utilize X=Cuda Cores and GPU, but I think I'll hang onto my new TitanX, in hopes that Adobe will write code and approve it someday in the near future.
Now why doesn't Adobe say this officially about Memory Settings? (I don't know maybe they do and I missed I somewhere)
Mine and probably many peoples computers problems here on this board may be attributed to a simple Memory adjustment, because the computer needs more than 7Gigs to run itself, not to mention Premiere.

  • X randomly crashing, cannot ctrl-alt-bksp

The first crash was a couple of months ago, and I will admit I just ignored it, especially since it didn't crash again for about a month. Then I was starting to think I might have a problem and did a bit of research. I thought turning off compositing might be the solution so I did that and it still crashed about a week later. The crashes were so dispersed that I just forgot about them, but I think I have to do something now.
Recently I installed xdm. The problem is, now when X crashes, xdm tries to get X to run again, and it goes into an endless cycle of crashes. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does not work, Ctrl-Alt-F1 does not bring me into a terminal, and manually powering off is the only way to get out of it. Before I installed xdm; after it crashes I can Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go into a virtual terminal and reboot. (Rebooting seemed to be the only way to get it working. There were no X or xorg processes running after the crash to kill, and I couldn't startx again.)
I also noticed that I'm definately not the only one with this problem, but I can't seem to find a solution anywhere (that works for me):

No, I don't have ndisswrapper. (I have a laptop but I never use wireless so I haven't set it up yet.)
I don't believe this is a hardware problem, because I run Windows on the same computer and have never had this problem on it.
Also I should note that now X is slow to start. Before (a couple of years ago) I could type startx and then I'd immediately be in X, but now the screen turns black and flickers a little before going into X. X has had this problem ever since I returned to Linux.
While it is going to be hard to find an immediate solution to this, does anoyone know how to get the magic sysreq key working in Arch? I have a very good feeling that the magic sysreq key could save me from manually turning off the power, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. Would I need to compile a custom kernel? (I sure hope not)

I have saved my xorg logs from right after the crash, but I don't see anything funny in them (well I'm not really the person to ask) and they are too big to fit in a post. If they are required I can try to find some way to show them.

    Hi
    Did that fix you?
I have been having the issue for a while, seems pretty random though I suspect virtual-box and/or wine to be tricker, but I have seen it crash without either, I think.
Anyways, black screen, lose keyboard, cold boot.

Don't feel like downgrading kernel or update to beta drivers if it's not the pit at all.

  • Random crashes in programs compiled with sunstudio 11

    Hi all,
I am porting some server stuff from Windows to Solaris and have the problem, that I have random crashes of our main server what didn't happen on Windows, Linux or HP with the same code base.
I think that there is perhaps a structural problem, what I can't find. Perhaps somebody can look over the attached info's and try to find out, if something is wrong.
Because of boost I have to use stlport4 stuff and I have also to link both thread libraries (libthread.so and libpthread.so). My concern is that there is some missmatch which causes my problems.
See somebody some dangers how I compile and link the stuff? Any help      would be appreciated.
    regards

I'm looking into the mtmalloc issue and I'll let you know what I find.
To use the LWP thread library, add the -L and -R option to each command that performs a link step. (It does no harm to put them on compilation commands, but they have no effect.)
Example of link steps are creating a shared library (-G option) or an executable program.
The important point is to use the -L and -R options on every link command, or you could wind up linking two different versions of the thread library into the program.
Most C++ programs, and the C++ Standard LIbrary in particular, depend on function inlining to allow separation of programming concerns while still getting good performance.
One classic example is a member access function:
    class T {
    int foo;
    public:
int get_foo() { return foo; } // implicit inline function
Access to private member foo is restricted. Non-member functions can read the value via function get_foo. The definition and use of member foo, and the contents of function get_foo, could change without affecting any code that uses T. You need only recompile, not modify source code that uses T objects.
The disadvantage is the cost of a function call to get at the int member. If access to foo is high bandwidth, program performance could suffer.
But in this case, foo is declared inline. The compiler replaces the call to get_foo with the body of get_foo at the point of the call. When you write x.get_foo(), the compiler generates code as if you had written x.foo.
You get the benefit of program modularity and separation of concerns without any runtime cost.
When you use d, you tell the compiler not to perform the inline substitution, and generate a function call instead. You often want to do that during debugging, so you can set breakpoints on calls to get_foo, which  you could not otherwise do. In fact, the -g option sets the d option to disable function inlining. There is seldom any reason to use +d explicitly.
For production code, you don't want to throw away the designed-in performance benefits of function inlining. Remove the +d option unless you have a specific reason for wanting it.

  • Early 2006 Intel iMac, does not boot, randomly crashes

    Hi everyone,
So, I bought a used 2006 Core Duo Intel White iMac off of a friend earlier last year. The iMac has been running like a champ, I installed Snow Leopard on top of Leopard and it hasn't given me any problems until much recently.
I installed Bootcamp, secondary to the desire to play a little Team Fortress 2 and during the Bootcamp installation it actually randomly crashed. Weird, it's never actually done that, but since that time it would crash and would not power up for anywhere from half an hour to half a day. At first, it would only crash during Windows Vista, but now I found it crashing during OSX with the same problems powering up.
During the crashes, the computer will not respond to mashing on the power button, and sometimes, I will hear the high-pitched whine of the boot and the light in the bottom right of the iMac would go on and then crash at the gray screen. At other times, it will boot right into OSX and then crash with the same problems.
*Things I have tried:* Resetting the PRAM, resetting the PMC, deleting Windows Vista and removing the Bootcamp partition, Disk Utility on the few times the machine booted with a clean bill of health.
Results: Resetting the PMC seems to help rebooting, but does not prevent other crashes. Neither the PRAM reset or removing Windows Vista has helped with the problem.
*Things I will do:* Send the machine to Genius Bar and suck it up
Impressions: I strongly believe it to be a power supply/motherboard issue. I ran RAM tests and the RAM itself seems to not return any errors. If these are in fact the repairs I need, then it's beyond what I can actually repair on the machine, so to the Apple Store it will go.
I am however looking for any input into other people's problems like mine or any other thing I can do to test/bench the system (when it doesn't crash). I dig the machine and I thought I got a good deal, I am looking for any other insight you may provide. Also, if anyone has a good place to buy parts to test/fix Intel iMacs I am handy inside a computer, tinkered with PCs throughout my life. Thank you in advance!

    Strange,
It’s beginning to look as though we have similar iMac characteristics. Here’s a couple of other things I did that you might try. Each of these seemed to improve the stability of my Mac.
    1. One of the differences between a normal boot and a safe boot has to do with what fonts are loaded. Since my system seemed to run fine in “Safe Mode” it was suggested to me to run Font Book and verify all fonts. I did that and it found numerous (90+) minor font problems and 1 major problem. I deleted all fonts that showed any problem at all. I didn’t expect fonts to be a significant source of problems, but after doing this step and #2 and #3 below, my Mac began to behave better
    2. Over time a lot of junk builds up on your Mac – caches, languages that are loaded with applications but not needed, logs, etc., etc. There are a lot of programs that will do clean up of these files. I really don’t know which ones are best, but I came across one called “CleanMyMac” and decided to buy and download it. When I ran it, it found a ton of stuff during its Scan which I then Removed.
    3. Reset the SMC
    4. Here’s an interesting one. I came across many comments about the importance of cleaning out the air in/out ports on your computer. I have a small compressor that I used to blow through the ports on my Mac. A not-insignificant cloud of dust came out of my Mac when I did that. Any dust sitting on components will act as insulation, retard heat dissipation, and cause those components to run hotter. After doing this, I swear, iStat began showing temps 10 deg F cooler than before.
    5. I downloaded SMCFanControl. After a little trial and error, I set the minimum speeds as follows: Optical Drive fan at 1000rpm, Hard Drive fan at 1400rpm, and CPU fan at 1400rpm. This brought temps down another 10 deg. F at least.
I haven’t had a crash or hang of my system since.
Here’s the main temperature readings I’m seeing now:
    CPU A: 91 deg. F (33 deg. C)
    Graphics Processor: 93 deg. F (34 deg. C)
    Hard Drive: 96 deg. F (36 deg. C)
    Memory Controller: 93 deg. F (34 deg C)

  • Photoshop CS6 Randomly Crashes using Intel HD Graphics 4000

When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:
Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.
I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?
    EDIT:
Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware.
Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.
Graphics hardware enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences.
    For more information, visit:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/photoshop_gpu_en
All my drivers are fully updated, and all Windows updates are installed. No other applications have any problems with my graphics hardware.

If Intel does not have an updated driver, I would check the MS Surface Pro Web site.
If no updated driver exists, you might get it to run, if you turn off all graphics acceleration.
Unfortunately, Intel graphics chips are good, but driver support has been horrible. I recommend against using them, if one has programs like Ps CS 6, Premiere Pro CS 5 - 6, Premiere Elements 9 - 11, After Effects CS 6, any 3D applications, etc.. The Intel chips and drivers are OK for checking e-mail, surfing the Web, doing light wordprocessing, or some spreadsheet work, i.e. the tasks that they were designed for. They fall far short with video-intensive applications, that need to interface with the video driver.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • MacBook Pro 13-inch 2012 Yosemite - Random Crashes and restarts

    Good afternoon,
My Macbook Pro 2012 running Yosemite randomly crashes and restarts itself with no pattern or discernible cause.  It has previously gone into the Apple Store several times for fault finding and come back with nothing that they could find.
Attached to the MacBook are a large monitor and a Evoluent upright USB mouse.
I typically run LibreOffice, iwork numbers and Adobe Reader, in addition to emails, calendar and safari
    MacBook Specs:
    - Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    - 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    - 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
The latest crash report is below.  If anyone has any similar experience, advice or fixes it would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,  Dave

    Like Bee said.
The problems are caused by third party input managers/enhancers that have not yet been updated by their developers to comply with the standards used by Safari 3.2.1.
    In your case these are:
AcidSearch (you need to delete this and update to version 3.8.4 which does work with Safari 3.2.1)
    SIMBL
You fill find them in one or either or these folders:
    Home/Library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/Library/Application Support
although the exact location is indicated in your crash report - look under 'Binary Images'.
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally.
