Random Crashes, Application Errors

I'm using Adobe Premiere 4 on my Dell Latitude D610, Windows XP 2002 (SP2), 2 GB of RAM and 23GB of hard drive space.
I'm trying to do about a 8-10 minute highlight film for work, but it keeps randomly crashing on me. I have it on auto save every two minutes so I don't lose everything.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason for the crash, but I do on occasion get the "Application Error" that says memory can't be read.
I've tried my IT department and they say it's not the computer, we don't use that program, etc., etc,...
Does anyone have a solution(s) to my problem? It's a very important project that needs to be done by next week and this is very frustrating as you can imagine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again,
Matt

There could be a number of reasons for your crash:
1) Outdated drivers, Quicktime and RealTek. And you should be on XP SP3.
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c057647
2) 23 gig is barely enough free hard drive space for editing video, particularly if you haven't cleaned off the temp files and defragmented lately.
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc43f9a
3) You also don't say what type of video format you're editing. Video other than DV-AVIs (captured from a miniDV camcorder) can require considerably more scratch disk space on your hard drive -- and photos that haven't been resized to no larger than 1000x750 pixels can require even more. You also say you're working on a highlight reel, which seems to imply that, although you're only cutting together a 10 minute project, you may be working with many gigabytes of raw video, which also require scratch disk space on your drive.

  • Random crashes iMac mid 2011

    Hello fellow iMac users.
    I’ve been experiencing random crashes/application crashes on my mid-2011 iMac for the last three months or so. I’ve taken the computer to my local Apple store twice, but the Geniuses there weren’t able to identify the problem after running their various diagnostic tools.
    In addition, I have:
    reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled all software from scratch;
    updated to Mavericks;
    removed one set of 2x 4GB RAM chips (purchased in mid 2013 from Apple online store), leaving original 2x4GB RAM;
    removed original 2x4GB RAM chips and reinserted 2x4GB RAM purchased in mid 2013 from Apple online store;
    restored all 16GB RAM;
    run iMac diagnostics, disk utility, etc.
    Following is the latest crash report. I would be most grateful if anyone could provide insight on what the problem might be related to:
    faulty software (I was running Office 2011 for Mac, Parallels, and Safari at time of latest crash)?;
    faulty RAM?;
    hard-disk;
    graphics card;
    CPU…
    Many thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    I used the shift key to boot and had it running for 4 hours and the gray progress bar never got past about 20%. That said I never got into a working safe mode.
    I did however boot from the recovery drive and did the fix permissions and fix drive options. Drive check said drive looking good. Permission check showed about 5 permission issues which it was able to fix.
    Restarting the system just takes ages and the harddrive keeps crunches away (not a clicking which would be an easy indicator for a bad hard drive). At 20GB Ram this is an odd behavior.

  • [iPhone] Quiz application randomly crashing

    Hi,
    I have developed a simple quiz application but it keeps randomly crashing when I use it. The application has no warnings or errors and I have checked for leaks using Instruments but still cannot find out why it keeps crashing randomly.
    Sometimes it will crash as soon as I initialize the game, other times it can take 5 minutes before it crashes. This randomness keeps throwing me - I am performing the same methods/actions in the same UIView but sometimes selecting a button will be successful other times it can cause it to crash.
    Has anyone got any ideas why it might be crashing randomly or could you point me in the right direction to another useful application similar to instruments to help debug apps?
    Thanks for any help,
    Anthony

    Do a Google search for NSZombies Set these up in XCode and enable.
    Most likely you're releasing something when you shouldn't be.
    Test on the simulator first, check the console outputs and place NSLog at key spots in your app so you can tell where it is.

  • AR 9.X Crashing IE (6 and 7)  when opening PDF with sw:iexplore - Application Error

    The majority of my systems are having a problem with Acrobat Reader 9.0 and 9.1.
    When they click on a PDF from within IE the browser crashes with the following error:
    sw: iexplore.exe - Application Error
    The instruction at '0x051251b6" referenced memory at '0x00000010". The memory could not be "read".
    Running AR 8 causes no difficulty, however I have an organizational requirement to have addressed the in-the-wild vulnerability of AR by March 18th for 100% of my client systems. And Adobe is holding on to those versions until the 18th.
    So I _have_ to install 9.1 on 300 systems in the next 36 hours.
    If I take the check mark out of 'Display PDF in Browser' it works fine. The problem with this solution is that there are certain web sites and applications that departments here use which absolutely requires that the PDF be integrated within the browser - so taking Display PDF in Browser is not a universal solution.
    I have tried the following key to no luck:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Reader 9.0\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe\""
    On a couple of machines opening up Reader and closing it first while having admin rights clears up the problem - but not for the majority of my systems.
    I've tried repairs, reinstalls, full reloads and reboots to very little luck.
    It's is for various PDF files from different sites, and it's the same ones that work for the small number of systems not experiencing a problem.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    > Adobe is holding on to those versions until the 18th.
    The 18th is tomorrow, so why not wait for it?

  • Ntdll.dll application error makes itunes crash

    Itunes keeps crashing every 30 minutes to 2 hours since more than 2 years now (!!)
    according to the event log of XP there's an application error in module ntdll.dll
    I have searched the internet for quite some time for a fix for this problem but there doesn't seem to be a clear one.
    Help would be really appreciated!

    Okay ... not the malware thing that was causing trouble at the beginning of the year. (On the other hand, as well as citing ntdll.dll, that used to always stop people from launching iTunes and quicktime.)
    It's relatively rare to see ntdll.dll show up in this context (and probably even rarer to see it only cropping up sometimes), so we'll proceed on a basic principles troubleshooting basis.
    ntdll.dll is one of the core Windows operating system files related to handling drivers, so we'd better check on driver, firmware and so forth.
    If you've got a name-brand PC, check first at the Manufacturer's website for drivers, firmware and BIOS for your system. If you've added third-party components to the system since then, check for driver updates for those components at the component-manufacturer's website.
    If you've got a custom/homw-built system, check at the manufacturer's webpages for drivers/firmware/BIOS for the various components. There's some advice in the following document:
    [Updating the drivers on your Windows PC|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1768]
    If you update, does iTunes seem more stable for you? (A bit tricky to tell, of course, given that it doesn't happen right away.

  • Application crash with error ntdll.dll 00018fea

    Hi,
    I have a problem with my app.exe build.
    I attach a simple code; the Vi open and close a TDM file.
    If I run this Vi in Labview works fine.
    If I build the application.exe on a notebook and I run it I got "Application crash with error ntdll.dll 00018fea".
    I've tried to build the Vi on another Pc Desktop with Labview and here if I run the exe it works fine.
    On the two PC I have LV8.5; the build options are the same.
    On the notebook I've try also to reinstall LV8.5 but I got the same error.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks a lot

    Never ever do that! You were very lucky that both ntdll.dll files were probably the same version so the exchange didn't do much but ntdll.dll is one of the core Windows DLLs were everything goes through that normal applications may access in Windows. A mixup in such a part because of incompatitible ntdll.dll with other system API DLLs might prevent your computer entirely from starting up even in safe mode.
    You should not attempt to ever switch system DLLs between different computers. In such behaviour lays insanity. If you expect a system DLL to be corrupt attempt to do a repair installation instead. Also Windows nowadays has techniques to detect if a system DLL got corrupt and will attempt to repair it, though I guess if ntdll.dll would go belly up it's likely your computer won't even start up.

  • Random crashes in powerbuilder 11.5 application

    Hello,
    We're a reseller of an application that was written in powerbuilder 11.5.  We have one customer who is struggling with this application with random crashes in various parts of the software.  Because we resell it we don't have the code and the people we resell for are not being very forthcoming on helping us saying that the customer needs to use a new machine, which of course they do not want to do.  Note this is the only customer who has this so it is something to do with their environment and we're not sure where to start.
    Event viewer shows an access violation pbdwe115.dll for every event.
    Because the crash is random and sometimes there can be three in a day and sometimes none for three days we can't put /pbdebug on as the log files could potentially be massive.
    Therefore decided to turn on crash dump file creation.  The crash dumps show the same stack for every dump, which is as follows
    PRIMARY_PROBLEM_CLASS:  INVALID_POINTER_READ
    BUGCHECK_STR:  APPLICATION_FAULT_INVALID_POINTER_READ
    LAST_CONTROL_TRANSFER:  from 7c353984 to 1172bccd

    Has anyone got any experience of this kind of crash?  We've had some fun with this application and printer drivers on citrix in the past, however it's generally solid.
    The application is powerbuilder 11.5 on Windows 7 accessing a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
    Any suggestions very gratefully received!
    Many thanks,
    stevensns

    These are just unhandled systemerrors and nearly impossible to trace down without PBDEBUG.  SInce you can't use that, try and eliminate other variables...
    Does it happen on every workstation at the customer?  Or just one?
    Is there one window or tabpage where it happens more often?  Have the customer keep a journal in OneNote or something of what they're doing when the crash occurs.  How many windows did they have open?  What report was just retrieved?  How long had the application been open since it was last restarted?  What other apps are running on the machine at the time? Stuff like that.
    Have them scan the machine for any other copies of PB*.DLL that might be lurking in the PATH somewhere.

    Hello Microsoft Gurus!
    One of the employees in my office is constantly having problems with Excel 2013 crashing while doing work. We even made him use the safe mode version of excel, but he still was getting crashes. I'll try to provide as much information as I can, and if there's
    anything I need to do on my end, please let me know.
    This is the message that pops up when his computer crashes:
    "Do you want to send more information about the problem? Additonal details about what went wrong can help Microsoft create a solution"
    Files that help describe the problem:
      C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\29422974.cvr

      C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCA7.tmp.appcompat.txt
      C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCF6.tmp.mdmp
    Upon looking at the Windows App Error Logs, this is what shows up.
    Faulting application name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 15.0.4701.1001, time stamp: 0x54e3066c

    What additional information is needed to decipher what is causing this to break? I have already tried suggestions from other technet articles (disabling hardware acceleration, using only 2013 files, safe mode excel, repairing office 2013, uninstalling/reinstalling
    office 2013, etc.). I even tried using Procmon to try to find what 'function' was causing excel to crash but it was way beyond my expertise level. Can someone please advise what to do?
    Also (not sure if this is related or not) Excel opens up 'blank' when he opens any type of model (.xls, .xlsx) that no other user is experiencing (exactly same computer model, same install, etc.). All the toolbars are there, but no data can be seen. Only when
    he double clicks the top to shrink/maximize the excel window does the data appear.
    Thanks!
    btw, this verification thing is pretty stupid, i now have to manually type in the messages instead of just putting a picture. ugh.

    Hi Bob,
    As I said, with your event log messages the faulting module is EXCEL.EXE, I can get less useful information about your constantly crashes problem. Thus, I need you to collecting the app crash dump file.This articles teach you how to collect app crash dump
    file:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/06/15/capturing-application-crash-dumps.aspx
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/927069/en-us
    Enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing
    it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\EXCEL.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
    Then, open Excel to
    repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.
    You can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:

  • Remote Control crashes randomly with memory error

    During authentication, but most usually during disconnection Remote Control (using Consoleone) will crash with the following error:
    RCConsole.exe - Application Error
    The instruction at "0x10002834" referenced memory at "0x0000000c". The memory could not be "read".
    Click on OK to terminate the program
    Click on CANCEL to debug the program
    OK Cancel
    I tries searching Google and a few other engines with no luck, has anyone seen this before?

    The only time that I've seen the error that's listed below is from running ConsoleOne from a UNC path. Try copying all files and folders from \\servername\SYS\PUBLIC\mgmt\ConsoleOne\1.2 to c:\1.2, and then try running c:\1.2\bin\consoleone.exe. Doing so has fixed this error for me in the past

    systemctl enable acpid.socket
    that fix it?
    Hmm no that's not the problem unfortunately, i can start the daemon without problems, but it just crashes now and then after a while (sometimes more than a day after it was started).
    why you are using acpid ?
    Because my laptop exposes most of it's special keys (lid, brightness, volume etc) as acpi events, and i need a simple way to capture and script those.

  • Application error and crash in cs4

    All- I just reinstalled cs4 photoshop and I keep getting an application error that the memeory can not be read.  Can anyone tell me why? I was having this same problem on my old computer, I have just gotten a new one, and have reinstalled but still get the error.
    thansk in advance!
    Missy

    Does your computer meet the system requirements for CS4?
    If not, that might be the problem.
    Also, when you reinstalled CS4, did you restore anything from your old installation?
    If no, I would advice you to try and make a complete uninstall, delete all folders after uninstalling, then try to make a new and clean installation.
    If the problem still exists, can you please provide the full error message?
    Another thing is if you have a lot of programs and stuff running, that could be why you get this error message, try to restart your PC, then open up only CS4 after the restart, see if you get the error when only running CS4.

  • Why Mavericks 10.9.1 frequently & randomly crashes? Please Help! Here is a crash log...

    Hi guys, since I have updated to Mavericks 10.9 I have been  getting rundom frequent (up-to 5 in a day) crashes. After updating to 10.9.1 - my MacBook Air Late 2011 still crashes.
    1.8 GHZ i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    If any of you could help me to understand the crash log! Probably we could find a reason for these random crashes!
    Is there anything to see from the crosh log? Can you come to some guess/conclusion?
    I'd be very thankful for your inputs.

    It's the "Spector Pro" keylogger, and it's probably causing the panics.
    Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
    Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
    I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
    Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
    If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • Random crashes, Windows 7

    Hey there Adobe community! I have seen a number of "random" crash threads without much resolution. Well, here is mine!
    System is an HP Elite 8300 Workstation, i5 processor 3.2ghz, 6GB ram, Windows 7 SP1, good Nvidia graphics card with updated drivers.
    However, drum roll please.....
    Random crashes occur, and I do mean random - no particular time/process when it crashes.

  • PXI RT 8.6 crash with error lvrt.dll load address 0x1924000

    I have an application developed with LabView RT 8.6 that run 24h/day and randomly crash evry 3-10 day with this error:
    LVRT.DLL load address 0x1924000. Attached I put log file available after restarting PXI.
    I dont found any information on this error, and it's very hard to found the soluction... any idea?
    Attachments:
    lvrt_err_log.txt ‏66 KB

    Application was developed with LV 8.6, actually I have installed a LV 8.6.1 in my lap top where I develope the application. I attach some print screen of configuration of PXI.
    Application running on PXI consist of several never-ending loop, one of this is a time-critical loop where I from CAN, DAQ, and I send data via CAN. There is other Hardware-timed loop that comunicate via TCP/IP with PLC and with host computer (but application on host is not developed with LV, use a client socket to comunicate with PXI for reading data).
    Error Log show alwayis the same error, and for my opionon, there is no relation for when the event occur, can be in any moment.
    Application in pxi has some VI that are published as web service for diagnostic only, but there is no any interaction with user, (no keyboard and no mouse), it's a silent application, that read some encoder, calculate speed and aceleration, generate some output and send all data acquired via tcp/ip... 24 h/day.
    Strange is that error position is always at 0x1924000, in all the error log!
    Unfortunatly system is used all the day, and it's very far from office, so debug can be done only at specific day, when production is off... and internet is unavailable...
    Enabling the debug mode, It's possible to have more information about the problem without changing the performance of the system?
    Thank's for you help!
    Nicola
