Random Crashes during ScreenSaver Operation
Dear all,
pretty often I receive a message from Mc OS that I need to restart my MacBook by holding down the power button for a few seconds. This message only appears during the ScreenSaver operation. My current screensaver is an iPhoto library of pictures. I cannot exit the message, I have to turn off the machine and loose all the work that was there. I did all the updates from SoftwareUpdate.
Any ideas ?
Nick,
I have the same MB and CPU but I am using the onboard sound and have not had any problems with that.
I can recommand that you bump up your memory voltage to 2.6~2.7 and loosen up your memory timings to something like 2.5-5-5-8-2T.
Then remove all drivers from your Audigy, disable your onboard sound and remove those drivers, shut down and install your Audigy and boot up allowing Windows to find your new hardware and then install the drivers.

Having random crashes during audio playback.
Greetings,
I seem to be having some issues with crashing during audio playback. Here are my specs:
MSI K8N Neo2 Plat (1.B BIOS)
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester)
4x512 Corsair TWINX 1024 3200C2PT (Bought at seperate times, but revisions are almost exact and they run stable)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Forton Source FSP 400W
It seems to do the same thing every time. The audio will start skipping (in more than 1 media player) and after no BSOD, the computer will reboot itself. I have it set to show a BSOD as well. It has even started to ask to check my D: drive for errors after this.
The problem first started to occur after a couple of things. I recently updated my bios to the 1.B version as stated. And a week or so ago I did a fresh install of Windows. The sound was working fine with the new BIOS, but now with the new Windows install it has had issues. Are there any known issues with the Audigy2 ZS and the new 1.B BIOS that I just didn't experience before? Granted, I did not have my old install of Windows long under the new 1.B BIOS.
At this moment I am using the AC97 onboard audio to see if that crashes as well, and just to hopefully have the random crashes stop happening. I know there are quite a few avenues to take, I am just looking for opinions on which would be the best one. Reflash the bios to an older version? Try the Audigy2 in a different PCI slot? (I had it in the 2nd to bottom as the NIC is plugged into the orange PCI) Contact Creative for an RMA or repair of the card? I only bought it on December 16th, so it's fairly new. Something else I am maybe missing? A BIOS or Windows setting?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. If I need to provide any more info, please say so and I will promptly.
Thanks.I have the same MB and CPU but I am using the onboard sound and have not had any problems with that.

Premiere Pro CS6 Randomly Crashes During Preview
Hello,
I've searched and gone through various threads where crashing has been posted and none of the solutions have helped thus far.
There are two issues that I would encounter doing the most basic of tasks such as previewing a clip within Premiere Pro CS6:
- The preview screen will freeze and I am unable to see the video.
- The program will cause my video driver to encounter a serious problem and recover.
Here are my specifications:
Sony Vaio
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System
Intel Core i5 2.40ghz
8 Gigs of Ram
ATI Radeon HD 6470m Graphics Card
The temporary solution to both that I have found effective is closing down the program, then opening task manager, ending the Adobe Premiere process and restarting Adobe Premiere. If I don't do this then the program can't be opened.
Here are some of the solutions I've implemented without any positive changes:
- Ensured display driver / graphics card is updated (ATI Radeon HD 6470m)
- Closed all other programs
- Couldn't change GPU acceleration because the video card doesn't allow it.
- Disabled Hover Scrub
I've spent a few days researching this and I'm very sorry for posting a question in regards to this issue. However, I can't seem to find the help I need from Support because their phone system is down and I can't use the ticketing system because I'm using the Adobe Creative Cloud. I would appreciate any help in advance. Thank you.Just finished the phone call from Adobe support.
The solution to the problem is if Premiere freezes, create a new sequence and import your video into the new sequence. He didn't know the specifics of what caused the issue, but should it happen again, I'd have to just tansfer the video into a new sequence. my project has not malfunctioned in the past hour. -

This happens to me on a lenovo X220T. I also have a lenovo U350 (not sandy
bridge), and that works fine. Can anyone else confirm this so I can get a bug
report started?
A few notes:
* Reverting to the 2.20.8 driver fixes the issue.
* It doesn't matter which screen I rotate, or if I have externals connected at
all. xrandr seems to always crash.
* My kernel is slightly outdated (3.4.9-1), due to some other X220T issues:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31384
Thanks!
*EDIT*: searching a little harder discovers this bug:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55602
Which I think is the same thing. I'll try to help them out...
*EDIT2*: Sorry for all the noise! I think this issue is resolved upstream:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55527
I'll mark this as solved.

Satellite P100-240 randomly crashes during playing game
I recently purchased the above laptop and couldn't be happier, bar one exception, whenever i try to play a game (this has happened with every single game i've tried) the machine shuts itself down after random amounts of time, be it 5 minutes or an hour.
After reading the manual i initially thought it was an over heating problem, however after reducing all the settings to minimum i am still recieving the same problem. I have tried updating both the bios and the graphics card, but the problem still persists, any advice would be greatly appreciated. You can try to go to event viewer as Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc /s.
Check System folder for error & its description. You can find that happens before system going to reboot. Hope this help You to identify problem. -
Random Crashing During Downloads
For the past two days everytime I try and download or upload anything from the internet, my browser crashes. I've tried with both Firefox and Safari, but I have the same problem with downloading. Last night I was able to upload to a internet mail (Yahoo) through Safari, but not Firefox.
Any ideas?Your computer is weak, but that SHOULD just equate to slow, not crashing... see if any of these previous discussions will help you with ideas

Hi Folks
I have been having some major issues with my Macbook Air (mid 2011, Yosemite 10.10.1, 1.6GHZ core i5, 2 GB 1333 MHz DDR3)
It randomly crashes during use. Programs stop working and then the spinning beachball pops up for a few seconds before everything crashes and I have to power off/on
I did a number of system resets and reinstallation's and for a while now I have had it running generally ok except a few crashes here and there when I am using it a lot. Just had a few issues tonight and had 3 crashes in quick succession and also the ? folder pop up once.
For the first time though the system reported an error code and I have pasted it below. Has anyone seen this before or can anyone decipher what it means? I am no expert so it means very little to me. Any help would be much appreciated
Many thanks

Based on the information you have provided, it appears your MacBook Air is suffering from repeated crashes. In your post you wrote "Just had a few issues tonight and had 3 crashes in quick succession and also the ? folder pop up once," which leads me to believe your computer needs to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

I'm running an Acer Aspire quad duo machine with 3 GB ram and Vista Home Premium (32 bit). Lately, I have been experiencing random crashes during work on a relatively small project (7 nested sequences ... total prog. length 15 minutes).
I get the 'Adobe PP has encountered a problem and will close ... Windows is checking for solutions ...' message & then PP exits. Is there a way to find out what problem was encountered?
Any known Vista or Acer issues that I should look into?
P.S. After a couple of these incidents, when I clicked on Premiere, it would not reopen. Had to restart the computer.32-bit Vista is supported by Adobe, however its new security measures can cause problems for older applications like Premiere Pro CS3.
Here are some troubleshooting tips.
Cheers

Random Crash / Memory Crash during night Kinect v2
Hi,
I'm working on SARAH a C#/NodeJS Home Automation software listenig to family at home.
I have 24/7 Windows 8.1 NUC computer using USB device like Kinect 2 and PQLabs Touch Frame.
- During the night it seems the application crash with a memory probleme.
- Looking at Windows Journal it seems the app performs an IO File.delete
- In the journal there is stuff related to Restart Manager ?
- The app can run full day without errors but can crash at night
I have stopped Windows Update, and USB device "standby" but I still have random crash.
Any Idea ? Where should I look at ? It used to work with Kinect 1.
I try to understand if it comes from me or from stuff running at night or things like thatKinect should be good to run throughout the night/day and many do that in some installations. If you have the system idle or go into a low power state, than you may have an issue with not getting frames or the runtime resetting as per the troubleshooting
thread (see last post):
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/20dbadae-dcee-406a-b66f-a182d76cea3b/troubleshooting-and-common-issues-guide?forum=kinectv2sdk
The only affect of this would have is the runtime would not provide your application frames at that time, it should not crash your applicaiton.

Help! Logic X 10.0.7 crashing during bounces and randomly!
I have just bought Logic X Pro (Version 10.0.7) with NI Komplete 9.
It worked fine for a day until it started to crash during bounces and occasionally when i'm working.
I have downloaded all the recent updates for Komplete but can't seem to find out why it's crashing!
It's a new Macbook Pro 13" so shouldn't be the computer!
Would appreciate any advice on this matter...Here's the crash report:

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.
Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
Desktop Manager Crashes During Sync Phase with Notes Calendar
Hello All,
My Destop Software continually crashes at the point of Syncing with Lotus Notes Calendar. Every other part of Syncing with Notes works fine and sometimes I get a partial Sync with the Calendar, but consistently every time it crashes during this part of the process and then I get the Windows error window saying the software has encountered a problem and needs to close. Here are some other facts to help.
I am running V4.7 of the Destop Manager, latest downloaded from this web site.
PC is Win XP Proffesional, 2002 SP2. 3Gb RAM Duo Core 2GH
I have uninstalled/re-installed the Desktop Manager twice
I get other C Runtime errors with Device Manager on a random basis.
I have a BB Storm.
Anything else?
I have emailed the BlackBerry Support but seems to be a Black Hole with no response despite prompting them several times since putting in the email. I am a relatively educated PC user, My laptop is near new, I have many simple and sohpisticated applications installed with a (other than the BB Desptop application) very clean, well maintained and error free operating environment. This is a very disappointing BB first time experience.Hi and welcome to the forums!
What version of Lotus notes would that be?
Is this is this server based, an island, or standalone Lotus notes?
Are you setup as BES or BIS?
Thanks,
Bifocals

Random crashes (Late 2007 MBP)
Hi there,
I have a late 2007 MBP and recently have been experiencing random crashes which I am unsure of the cause. Looking through the console logs following the crashes I haven't been able to notice any common themes, but then again I'm not quite sure what I should be looking for. This computer has gone through numerous repairs (3 logic boards, 1 superdrive, 2 batteries that failed, my right fan went out...). The issue is random and occurs when normally using the computer, as well as during start up. I feel like it may be heat related, although I have never seen the temps of the CPU get above 180 during this, and the computer has never been very hot to the touch. Using it in a room with an ambient temp above ~70 F seems to amplify the problem, although sitting outside in 60F weather in the shade has resulted in no problems for the last hr.
To date I've tried PRAM and SMC resets, reinstalled 10.6, and was going to try and run the hardware test, but my superdrive won't boot the cd (is there any other way to run the hardware test save for borrowing an external disk-drive?) Also, should I accept that this computer is at the end of its tumultuous run? The only other thought I had was opening it up and checking the thermal paste.
Thanks for any help.
-JohnSince AppleJack came back clean, and your temps are reasonable, it doesn't sound like your drive is going out. It is possible that you have some corrupted files on your drive, but I would have expected AppleJack to have found something too if there were. The only other thing I can think of that might cause what you are seeing is bad hardware (RAM, GPU, etc). In general my temps are simiar to yours except my CPU is about 95 cooler, but it is also running much closer to 15% utilization right now. Out of curiosity, what is your HD temp? Most notebook drives have a max operating temp of 55C (about 130F). If your drive is close to that it may be throwing intermittent errors.
I would tend to lean towards drive or RAM as the most probably hardware components to cause what you are seeing. I'm sure there are other possible causes, but from my personal experiene, those two tend to be the most common. If you can get an appointment at a Genius Bar, they might be abe to run some hardware diagnostics to see if they can detect any problems for you. -
Random crashes/reboots - Neo-FIS2R
Hello,
I’m experiencing apparently random crashing on my new system (see sig). It looks like a power outage – no BSOD or anything. The screen just goes dead and the system starts rebooting. All the fans (and the disco lights - thank god) continue to run during the crash. I haven’t yet been able to discern a pattern as to when it happens, though it only seems to occur while I am using the system – it can run all night by itself with no crashes.
I’ve been installing a lot of music software and just recently started playing around with it, so I am suspicious of my sound module and drivers (DirectPro 24/96), which haven’t explicitly been tested against the 875P chipset , though the drivers claim compatibility with my OS.
I am also suspicious of the motherboard/BIOS, which we all know has had a few quality issues.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could narrow the search a bit based on the type of crash I’m seeing. If this were a driver problem, wouldn't I be seeing a BSOD?
Any pointers? Could the power supply (Thermaltake W0009R ) be a suspect?
The CPU fan is getting its juice from the PSU directly, not through the mobo. I used to have it hooked up to the mobo, but our CoreCenter kept shutting the fan off (and leaving it that way).
I'm not overclocking, and have not adjusted any voltage/timing settings for the CPU/memory beyond what they're spec'd for. I've disabled my friendly neighborhood CoreCenter software, so the only MSI software running on my system is the BIOS and drivers. Currently running v1.2, which is what the board shipped with.Legal-Tech,
Thank you very much for the pointers - that got me my beloved BSOD. Only thing I had to do after that was to find out which driver was causing the problem, using the TrackLockedPages registry setting (MS KBA's referenced below).
I think I may have pinpointed the problem, and it's NOT the motherboard or the BIOS. I will probably need a couple more days of trouble-free operation to be sure, but I think the problem was with my USB Midi Keyboard Controller driver software. Uninstall/reinstall seems to be working for now.
For anyone else with XP who might need to go through the same process, if you don't already know, you can follow these Microsoft KBA's (in order) to do your troubleshooting...
These first two should identify the problematic driver:
System Failure and Recovery Options
Track Locked Pages
You can use this to find out more details about the specific crash:
Inspecting Minidump Files
Thanks again... -
IPod Classic 120GB random crashes
Hi,
I have a iPod Classic 120GB that for the past year has been randomly crashing in the middle of playing songs. For a long time it was once in a while but then it became daily and now I can't even listen to a complete song.
I've done several RESTORES and for the first 24hrs it seemed to fix the problem, but now it seems to be deteriorating. Any suggestions? Would it matter if the host sync computer is a PC or a Mac? Possible problem in the code of iTunes that when syncing would cause a problem? Could this be a sign that the HD is seriously deffective?
Any insight or tricks to fix the problem is appreciated.
much thanksMy new 120gb classic survived a 7 hour bus ride on Saturday without crashing once, however I was watching videos for most of the trip.
Over the weekend away I was using my small sound dock and again, no crashes what so ever.
After picking up my car from the workshop (the reason for the trip away) I plugged the classic into my Alpine IDA-X100 stereo (first time using the USB cable on the X100, as opposed to the older style connector) and no crashes at all during a 6 hour drive home.
And yet - after an hour of using the classic in the office with just headphones I've just had a crash.
This confuses me further - if it was firmware I'd have thought I'd have had crashes when using the sound dock, or car as well.
Have any of you who are also having crashes/skips seen this behaviour?
