Random Folio Builder errors

I've begun to experience random unplanned document closures following an "Add" action within Folio Builder.
Any known quircks with drop 18?

No error message at all.
I have an open file. I am satisfied with changes. I select the appropriate article and hit update in Folio Builder. The update begins..the document shuts unexpectedly (not the application, just the updating file)...the update does proceed to completion without a problem, but the document should stay open.

  • Folio Builder Error: Source Files Not Found

I'm having some weird issues with DPS that are preventing me from editing folios. Whenever I try to update, import or add an article to a folio (whether it's a new or existing folio), I get one of the below error messages saying that the source files cannot be found. However, I haven't moved any of my files. Also, it doesn't make sense that I get this error when creating a new folio and trying to import/add a new article as I'm inputting where the files are located.
I've also tried reinstalling the Adobe folio tools. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks for the help.
    Error message text:
"An error has occurred opening the source file for the article layout. The InDesign file for the layout cannot be found."
    "Content generation error. [SourceFilesNotFound]"

Fuzzpocket17's issue was found to be caused by the following:
He had a working install of InDesign and the Folio  Producer tools when he left on vacation. When he came back, he did not.  It turned out that his IT had converted his user account on his Mac to  be a Managed Mobile account, synching their data to a new network volume  named "Users". When he unmounts that volume, all his Folio Panel  activities returned to normal. T
o see if you have a Managed, or Managed  Mobile account, open the System Preferences and choose the Accounts  pane. Look at the description under your account. Here is what a Managed  Mobile account looks like:
Managed  accounts have the ability to be restricted in many ways. One of those  restrictions could be preventing the application from reading/writing to  the CS<N>ServiceManager folder refernced in my earlier  post. Again, if you find this to be the case, consult with your IT. You  may need to revert to a non-Managed account to have the Folio Builder  panel operate correctly, until your IT can ensure normal user/library  file access.
    Sincerely,
    Matthew

  • Random FB build errors with FXGs

I'm having issues with random build errors.  When one of these errors occurs, it always says it has trouble with an FXG class.
    Error text is this:
"In initializer for 'mxmlContent', type FXGClass is not assignable to target Array element type mx.core.IVisualElement."
This seems to be a similar problem that someone else posted: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/929171 but their solution didn't work for me.
The solution from the linked thread, renaming/creating a duplicate of the file with the FXGs in it, didn't work.  Renaming ANOTHER file in my code base did.  One that did not contain FXGs.  (We use subversion and I systematically rolled back until the code base built error free and slowly deduced the affecting file).
Now occasionally we are having the errors with a completely new file with an FXG icon.  The first file had FXGs delared in MXML, this new one declares it in AS.  Both FXGs are put into the layout via MXML.  Sometimes commenting it out, building, commenting back in, building works....but not always.  If we go edit some code in another file elsewhere, it will sometimes clear the error and build fine.
This error is driving us nuts as we have no idea what the trigger is.  We have a fair number of FXGs in the code base for visual elements.  We use common code accross Web, Desktop and Mobile projects.  Sometimes they all build fine, sometimes they all error, sometimes only some projects error.  There seems to be no consistancy when the build errors occur.
Using Flash Builder 4.6 (on Windows 7)
    Flex SDK 4.6
AIR SDK 3.3 (though errors occur on a Web build too)
We've made new Workspaces and brought in the sub-versioned code and it still occurs (on two seperate machines), so it seems to point to a code base trigger.  I'm stumped where to start.  When it first started occuring, no extra FXG files or classes that refer to them were created.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've seemed to have narrowed it down the file with the FXG Icon in it.  It seems that when I disclude the file from the project it renders correctly.  If used I get the weird compile errors.  I'm not sure why this specific file is causing this.  I'm concluding it may be a corrupted in some way and I will have to rebuild it from scratch to narrow down the issues.
Removing the FXG from  the file itself doesn't help.

  • Uploading through Folio builder errors

    Hi,
I have been using Indesign 5.5 to create a catalogue for the company I work for and am trying to use the Folio Builder to upload my articles.
The first 2 articles are uploaded with no problems, and if restricted to these two only, can be viewed via Acrobat.com. But when I try and include the final (and of course) most important document of the catalogue I keep getting the following error message: "The Upload has Failed. [Conent.Error.contentRead]" .
This has become quit frustrating, as I am not sure if there is a problem with the images, content of that particular article or there is some other Problem, that I am unaware of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    The Upload has Failed. [Content.Error.contentRead]
This message has often been tied to very large uploads timing out with our service.
When you upload a folio normally, it will attempt to build the folio and upload it. Yet the upload process is waiting on the completion of the Folio and if it takes a long time to complete, can time out and present this message.
If you have extremely large images, or a large amount of them, this could be part of the reason.
One thing to try, with newer versions of Folio Builder (1.6.0 or later) is to create a local folio, then upload it, to help lower the possibility of a time-out occurring.
    In InDesign:
Sign out of the Folio Builder
In the Folio Builder panel, click New.
Add or import your articles. This will build them locally.
Sign back in to the Folio Builder and upload them at that time.
See if that makes a difference.
    The upload has failed. [svr.ConvertUnknownError]
This has been known to happen if there are any special characters, such as & in the name of the content.
Please check the names of the articles and folios for any special characters.

  • Folio Builder error

I have just updated the Folio Builder panel, restarted InDesign, and am attempted to upload my latest folio. I receive this error message each time I try to start a new folio:
The company I produce iPad work for has paid for another years work of the DPS.
Upon further investigation, in the Acrobat.com window, I get this meesage:
Our company has renewed for a full year.

I rang and emailed the company who confirmed my subscription renewal (21 Ausgust 2012) over two hours ago. Adobe had been contacted directly and immediately, I am still waiting to hear something. Not a word. Meanwhile I've missed my deadline. As the eastern states of Australia is two hours ahead, I have about two hours of waiting left for today.
I am not happy with what has happened. We have paid a year's subscription - I would assume this for that amount of money, it's supposed to work! And not even a courtesy call from Adobe to let me know if any progress has been made... nothing. No email reply. I'm just sitting here waiting. Amazing service Adobe.

  • Folio Builder: An error has occurred opening the source file for the article layout.

I have been working on a Folio. When I sat down to work on my folio, I was instructed by indesign to update my Folio producer tools, which I did.
Since then I can no longer view any article layout from that folio in indesign. Indeed any folio that I create that does not reside on my desktop give the same problem. I can import articles, add articles and they all upload to the proper place at adobe and I can view them. But I simply cannot open them up through folio builder as I previously.
The exact error message is as below:
An error has occurred opening the source file for the article layout.
The InDesign file for the layout cannot be found.
Another strange thing that seems to be happening is that the folio will randomly reoder the articles in the folio.
I have dumped my indesign prefs, tried creating an entirely new project, made a new account and even reinstalled the entire software.
But the problem of opening an article that I have imported or added to a folio, simply not being found to open has got me stumped. I can't proceed with a major project until I can sort this out.
    Can anyone help.
    Many thanks
    Steve
The problem initially seemed very similar to the one linked below, but I dont get the content generation error

  • Error signing into V28 Folio Builder

I recently updated to V28 of Folio Builder Panel, and I now cannot sign in with my account credentials.
I have followed all the advise on the forum, uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted preferences etc, and I am still unable to sign in.
The pop-up window appears, I put in my credentials and get no response. The box dissapears and I have not signed in. I can do this over and over again without ever signing in.
Is there a patch or workaround for this error?
I am using a Mac with InDesign CS6.

    Try this:
    1. Quit InDesign and any other CS apps.
    2. Delete the opm.db file located in /Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db.
    3. Start InDesign and try signing in to the panel.
Let us know if that works.

  • Folio Builder Panel update error

Tried updating folio tools 3Xs. Keep getting this eror:
A newer version of Folio Builder is available for download.  Update Folio Builder panel to latest version here.
Have quit inDesign, restarted the computer, logged on and still get the error.
    Any ideas?

There was a short amount of time where the link in the Folio Builder panel was redirecting to the old download still, but it should be working now.
You can head directly to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html to get your downloads. Make sure that the file is from November 17th.

  • Adobe Folio Builder - Network Error - Dispite no restrictions, details inside

    Hi,
We have a user who is using Indesign, and we have installed Adobe Folio Builder. The problem occurs when they try to sign in to Folio Builder and are given the message 'Network Error'
We know it's not a problem with their credentials as they can sign in to the online portal with no problems. We also have tried different credentials and are given the correct error message that the credentials are wrong.
I've checked the network logs to see what happens when they try and click folio builder and I can't see any unpermitted sites/address show up. What I see is:
    https://na1.r.services.adobe.co-account//amfgateway2/ - Permitted
    https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com - Permitted
    https://na1r.services.adobe.com - Permitted
    https://fpdownload.adobe.com/crossdomain.xml - Permitted
    https://fpdownload.adobe.com/pu-/swz/crossdomain.xml - Permitted
Anyone got any suggestions on what is causing this problem?
    Thanks
    Matt

I can't try another machine, as we only have Folio Builder on the one machine.
We only have one login, it doesnt work on folio builder plugin, but works perfectly fine on the online portal. It's 100% not a problem with the credentials

  • Folio Builder Panel: Error #3115

can someone provide any more details what this eror means?
It pops up after I start the Folio Builder Panel.
After that: Spinning wheel on "Loading Folios".
The error message dialog does not help at all.
Installed the new Tools, uninstalled them already, cleared indesing prefs, installed again in the following order (as always): Producer Tools, then Folio Builder Panel.
    —Johannes

That one did'nt work on my computer.
    The thing that works is:
    On Win user name/Application Data/applicationID.publisherID/Local Store/
    Try follow the steps below:
    1.       Close Folio Builder panel and quit InDesign;
    2.       Find app-storage folder, on Win7 something like c:/Users/[user name]/Application Data/StageManager.BD092818F67280F4B42B04877600987F0111B594.1/Local Store/
    3.       You should find a folder named ‘dmp’ in that folder. Delete ‘dmp’ folder and #sharedObjects in the same folder
    4.       Relaunch InDesign and Folio Builder panel

  • Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Yes, I can open the DPS portal via the Folio Builder panel within InDesign. Although I have created Folios locally within InDesign CS6, the DPS portal is empty and everthing greyed out with just the text "There are no folios to display. Create folios with the folio builder in InDesign".
If I try to sign in within the Folio Builder panel in InDesign, I get the error message [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE] . In addition I am also not able to access the "Help" menu from within InDesign although I am connected to the internet.
To complicate it even further, I am working in the UK whereas all internet control (firewall) and licences are handeled by head office in Germany. I am not sure if this is a firwewall issue or not but if the IT department in Germany could get support from Adobe to understand the access requirements, this may help.
Hopefully using the forum someone out there will know the answer.
