Random freezes. How to seek the problem? Help.
In the research lab arrived a new computer. It is pretty old, so the staff decided to not install Fedora 9, as they usually do, and install Archlinux.
I installed the base group, xorg, sis driver for X, texlive. I finally made a Xorg.conf file using hwd.
I installed lxde for having quickly a good and fast desktop environment.
Everything seems fine, but often the computer just freezes. Usually pretty quickly just after the logon in X. The machine stops responding and I am forced to do an hard shutdown pressing the off button five seconds.
It does not seems to happen outside X.
I tries using `stress' for some time but nothing happened.
I have no ideas...

Is there anything going on in the dmesg at the time? maybe check some things in /var/log ... perhaps messages.log , everything.log etc
question: is it a complete hard kernel lock? ie, after it happens, can you still toggle the numlock on/off? (if you can, then the kernel probably hasn't completely crapped out yet)

After weeks of frustration and swearing, I was in the process of restoring my phone to a previous iOS. To do that you need to turn the "Find my iPhone" option off, since i turned it off, my problem was solved. No need to repair anything or revert back to old iOS.

I am trying to send minutes of a meeting created in Pages to pc users by clicking on export then word. Recipients are telling me they cannot open the minutes which have come as a ZIP compressed folder. I have no idea what this is or how to fix the problem. Help?!
A pc user can open a .zip file by double clicking it.
If that does not work, you can convert the document to a .pdf by doing the following.
With the document active, type commannd + P (the print command).
In the next screen, on the bottom left, click on PDF, and in the drop down select Save as pdf...
You will be asked where the .pdf should be saved - the desktop is the easiest.
Now when you want to send the minutes, you have them as a .pdf file. Anyone with Adobe Acrobat Reder can open this. -

I have hp pavilion dv4 lap,in this lap has some hard disk problem,when i am turn on the lap that screen shows this message "The smart hard disk check has detected an imminent failure.To ensure not data loss,please backup the content immediately and run the hard disk test in system diagnostics".
After that i was diagnostics the system but no changes in the lap,,again again lap shows hard disk error(301).
Then i am chosen the enter option to start up the lap it take long time for openning the windows,after enter the windows that also shows about the hard disk error in within few minitues,
What can i do?

The iphoto on my macbook isn't responding. I click on the app but once it opens it starts to load and thats all it does. The wheel continues to spins. any one have any suggestion on how to fix the problem? i'd appreciate the help =]
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I do not work for Mozilla but I do have experience of releasing software for public usage.
Firefox has no way of knowing what other software is already on your computer and with millions of combinations it isn't always possible to test for every scenario.
You can go back to the old version of Firefox but that won't always solve your problem.

Here are my answer to your questions.
1) What's causing this problem -- me, software, or hardware?
Depends are you listening or playing those songs online ? This Can be caused by Software or Hardware. but based on your description it sounds like that this might just be a driver issue
2) How can I avoid it? (work-arounds)
Reinstall SOUNDCARD DRIVER or get a faster internet connection ( For streaming musics )
3) How can I eliminate the problem completely?

4) Is there any way that the sound and internet are actually related problems, or are they just coincidental?
Soundcard and Internet will be related to each other if you are listening or Playing those songs online. Since it needs to buffer first before you will be able to play the whole song completely without cutting off.

I'm getting kernel panics each day as I shut down, the message of restarting by holding down the power button appears on the screen - it began about a month ago and. Do you have any ideas of how to solve the problem? I've copied the logs that I found for each kernel panic that still have the message logged. Please help if you can, I have read some of the other comments and perhaps it has something to do with my anti-virus software being on at start up. I have copied the log here. Two experiments you can try.
1. Boot in safe mode and see if you can shut down normally. All thise additions won't be running in safe mode so this test would indicate it is one of them causing the problem.
2. Uninstall all the intego VirusBarrier stuff. That's my first guess and the troublemaker. -
