Random Kernal Panics in Idle Finder?
Here's a weirdone:
Finder is sitting idle on my Dual 1 G4, and I went to trash some items
from the desktop, and
I get a KP.
Here is a recent log, any ideas:

Ok, so I pulled the Belkin card, and just for grins, I also inspected my fans to make sure they
were properly working, and I blew out some dust bunnies around the front
"buick" ports on the MDD.
I then also removed the Belkin PCI card, and then intitaed the procedure for restting the PMU.
After being unplugged for 10 minutes, I rebooted the MDD.
It came up quick and fans were quiet.
I plugged in the iPod mini and synced some podcasts. so far so good.
I then prepared to copy some items from to Compressor to run a compressor batch.
Ipod synced fine, I unmounted it, than ran the Compressor batch.
Compressor said submitting, and then the Finder locked up.
No moving clock, no main Compressor screen, nothing.
Rebooted the machine, and got a Report to send to Apple.
this is what it said:

Any ideas?
I'm looking still at Ram as a culprit, but any others ideas I'd appreciate it.

MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 2,3Ghz - Random Kernal Panics
Have random kernal panics on my MacBook Pro.. Often when useing more more than one app but it still happens randomly tho.
Have tried different harddrives, re-installed mavericks, memtest on bootable cd for 12h, smc fancontrol with higher rpm settings.
Original ram. Not that high temps.
Anyone have an idea what the issue could be?
Sorry for my english. Thnx.

If it's happened only once, and is not repeated in at least a few thousand hours of use, a reasonable choice would be to ignore it. Machines don't work perfectly. They never will.
If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are (1) a damaged OS X installation; (2) a fault in a peripheral device, if any; (3) an internal hardware fault; and (4) an obscure bug in OS X.
You can rule out the first two possibilities by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
If you've recently upgraded the memory, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts on the memory modules when handling them. If necessary, clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol.
The Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
I got an iMac G5 around May/June. It had 10.4 installed. I updated to 10.4.1, then 10.4.2. It's been kernal panicing ever since I got it, but recently it's been doing it more. There doesn't seem to be any consistancy with the programs I'm running at the time. Is anyone else seeing these problems? Everyone else I know running 10.4 says it's stable, stable, stable; but, my experience isn't very good. Is it a 10.4 thing or an iMac thing? All thoughts welcome.
Is yours a Rev. A or B iMac G5?
Boot up from your OS disc and run Disk Utility from there, scan and repair your disk, see what the reports say; Also run the Hardware Test disc and see the report.
If you have any part of the disk unrepairable by any of the above, it may indicate either your HD is failing or your logic board maybe faulty, call AppleCare and tell them your findings, if I were you, I back up my important stuffs now.
Good luck and cheers -
Random Kernal Panic Report Yoesmite 10.10.2
Question- I too am getting Kernel Panics, I've got third party RAM installed, but never had a problem until last week, the RAM has been in there for almost 6 months. I've got a mix of Apple RAM and Third Party, do they not play well with each other? Did one of my third party slots go bad? There are no red lights indicating such on the boards.. is there a way to check that?
Also just installed my own airport card a little over a month ago, but again, no problems until this past week.
The panics are totally intermittent, no rhyme or reason to them at all.

Thanks.Greetings TheNephites221,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are experiencing recurring kernel panics and would like to find the cause of them. The attached article below has a lot of great information about kernel panics and I would suggest reading over the entire article, including the Troubleshooting a recurring kernel panic section specifically.
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem." - Apple Support
Cheers,
Joe -
Kernal Panic after update to 10.4.6/Missing HD Space/Won't Startup from DVD
Sorry to lump three problems together, but they may all be related.
First - I was getting random Kernal Panics while at 10.4.5, so I attempted to update to 10.4.6. The computer wouldn't even come close to starting up. I got a screen full of Kernal Panic info. I reinstalled Tiger 10.4.3, and that's where the system stands now. It's running fine.
Second - My computer suddenly announced that the startup drive was out of disk space. I looked and the window said 30g. I closed the window and opened it again only to see it at zero k. I dumped some items to get some disk space, but now I can't get my 30g back.
Third - I want to startup from the Tiger disk like I did when I reinstalled, but it won't startup from the DVD. I'd like to run Disk Repair on the main hard drive. It showed some errors when I ran a Test using the Disk Utility.
I'm hoping this is all related. The computer seems to be running fine, but I can't update or find my missing space. Any advice I can get on these issues would be appreciated. Thanks.
JonIs your computer saving a panic.log after each of the kernel panics? You can see by opening Console (in /Applications/Utilities) and looking for it. I'm not at my Mac now, so I can't tell you under what section to look for that log.
When you try to boot from the CD, are you holding down the 'C' key as the computer reboots? You can also try rebooting with the Option key pressed, which will present you with a list of bootable volumes. It will also give you access to the Apple Hardware Test (if this is the DVD that came with the computer). If you can select the Apple Hardware Test, I'd recommend doing the Extended Test, which will test the hardware, including the RAM.
For the disappearing disk space, you could have some process that is going bezerk and filling up the log files. In any event, to see where you disk space is being used, download and run Omni DiskSweeper. -
PM G5 Core Duo random kernel panics
A while back I saw a report (on MacFixIt) on Power Mac G5 kernel panics, which started with 10.4.3 and still randomly occur now that we have 10.4.6. They don't have an update of this report and I am wondering how to get rid off these kernel panics on a Dual Core 2 GHz PM G5's, short of downgrading to 10.4.2.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
thanks
Power Mac G5 core duo 2 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.6)Kernel panics usually happen because of directory
issues, bad drivers, bad hardware. If you can
access your data, the first thing to do is back it
up:
http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
If you can't access it, let me know first before
proceeding.
Afterwards, see if there are directory issues:
http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If there are no directory issues, and you have no
third party peripherals attached, and kernel panics
persist, then see if the hardware test that came with
the machine detects any hardware issues.
If no hardware issues are detected, and kernel panics
persist, then it is possible that the RAM went bad
and is simply undetectable, or there is an issue with
the hardware of the machine the test can't detect.
Be sure to only use Techtool Deluxe 3.0.4, or
Techtool Pro 4.0.4 or higher, when examing the
hardware with Techtool.
If using the hardware test CD that came with your
machine, that should be fine too, as it is labelled
for your Mac model. It usually is combined with the
installer CD in the latest machines.
There are other possible kernel panic causes listed
here:
http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
Actually I know all about the usual causes of kernal panics, directory etc, etc.
In this case, the infrequent and random kernal panics are cuased by something in OSX 10.4.3-10.4.6, becuase they only started after installation of 10.4.3 and this has happened on 2 machines, not one. This is a well known issue, since there was a report on MacFixIt about it as I said in my original post, but this report has not been updated and the issues has not yet been fixed.
The only solution I know off is to downgrade to 10.4.2, but that would negate all the recent recurity fixes rolled into 10.4.6. I am hoping that someone - Apple for example - could offer a better solution.

Kernal Panic, Finder Crashing, Overall poor Performance
I've had the Finder crash a ton lately. I've done an erase and install, no change. Got a Kernal Panic 2 days after the erase and install while installing Logic Pro. Talked to a Genius, could be hard drive, ram, Logic Board. I have a Console log from the KP here.

Could It possibly be an external drive I have plugged in via eSATA. The Genius recommended that I replace the internal drive but I don't want to do it if I that's not what's wrong.
Anyone have suggestions. This line got my attention:
com.SiliconImage.driver.Si3132(1.1.9)@0x6c5000->0x6d8fff
What do you have installed or attached that has a similar name? I had KPs on an older Mac and it turned out to be an unneeded hardware driver that the log reported in about the same position as your "SiliconImage" entry.
If that driver is part of a "must have" program or piece of hardware, see if a newer driver version is available.
Search the Apple forums for com.SiliconImage.driver and also Google it. I see several references to eSATA cards that use this driver and that upgrading to a higher version helps. Silicon Image makes chips and maybe complete eSATA cards. -
Safari causing kernal panics and random shutdowns and overheating.
My original Inel macbook pro is getting rather sick and I am hoping to hold out for the new 15 inches when they eventually unpdate.
However Safari is causig all kinds of hangs restarts kernal panics overheating with my machine and yet if I use google chrome for the exact same web sites these same problems are not present. I much prefer to be able to keep using safari and I realise that I haev not got the most up to date software since Lion is not supported on my machine but it is as up todate as snow leaopard allows.
I also realise that a more than 5 year old machine is doing very well especially since it is rarely off. It has outlasted 2 timecapsules and countless airport express but the anomyly between 2 browsers is weird. I doubt this has a solution but maybe the odd apple tech who read this might find it a challenge to know why one browser causes heart issues but another doesn't.If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode. -
Trying to find source of Macbook Pro Retina kernal panics (system report in post)
My Macbook Pro Retina running Mountain Lion has at least one kernal panic a day. Sometimes the wallpaper resets to default. It only happens while it's asleep and I have only ever once caught it on the error screen (meaning it's not happening as I wake it up but rather while the screen is off). I have had my computer and this problem for a while so I finally tried taking it to Apple to resolve the problem. It's been confirmed twice not to be a hardware problem and I have had the entire logic board replaced.
All other threads seem to say the problem is bluetooth but I never use bluetooth and it is always off. I DID do a full system reset and the problem went away but restoring the computer from time machine brought it back after a couple days. Is there any way of figuring out what software is causing the problem? Is there a way to use time machine to migrate applications and files to a reset computer instead of doing a full system recover and would that possibly fix the problem?
I would like to avoid updating to the newest OS if possible for reasons.

Use the uninstaller provided by the developer of the software. If that eliminates the kernel panics, try reinstalling one at a time to determine which one is causing the problems.
You may be able to update them to current versions that work with Mountain Lion.
Also, if those drivers are for external hardware, disconnect the hardware to test. -

MacPro Randomly Restarts with Black Screen, Kernal Panic
Please help...
I have a Mac Pro 4,1 Early 2009 running OS10.9.5. In Feb'14 I installed a new graphics card, NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac. Lately, though, for about the past two months, my computer has suddenly restarted in the middle of a task. It restarts with a black screen. I'd then have to hard-restart my computer to bring my monitor back to life. When the Mac finishes starting up, I am greeted with what I understand to be a Kernal Panic report. This problem has been occurring more frequently now, which is prompting this post.
Typically, I've noticed that the restarting/crash would occur when I am doing video related things that seem to tax the system. So much so that my first thought was that my system was overheating? Yesterday, I observed that the crash occurred when playing video in a web browser, and it happened each time I tried transferring 30GB from a USB source to an external harddrive.
I performed a Hardware Test, short and extended, and everything came back as normal. I also uninstalled CUDA Drivers, but to no avail.
Then, I decided to remove the Quadro 4000 video card and put back in the original video card, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120. My system has since been working well, as I was able to successfully transfer the 30GB that previously caused the system to crash.
So my question: Is my NVIDIA Quadro 4000 video card dead? Or, are the Kernal Panics a result of bad software, meaning I should reinstall the OS? What should I do next, as I need the Quadro card for it's cuda power in video editing?
Thanks for the help!
Here are some Kernal Panic reports from yesterday...

Once the hexadecimal Addresses are edited out, it is easier to see that the problem was related to the display card. NVRM is the NVIDIA Display RAM on the card. It appears to have failed. This is not an issue with the Driver, but with the card.
Replacing that card with an old one and having the symptoms disappear supports that evidence. -
Random restarts/kernal panic
Hello all.
This issue is still bugging me. About once or twice a day I will get a random gray panic screen and or just random restart.
The restart today happened twice. First time the music (pandora) started skipping then restart. The 2nd time I had info/code lines scroll down the left side of the screen (first time this has happened), then restarted.
I verified disk and permissions. I've reset SMC and PRAM. Any have ANY clue what's going on??

Mac randomly restarts and kernal panics
This is what happens if I move my laptop too much or when I do certain things. I don't know what to technically call this problem and usually when this happens I have to restart. Sometimes it automatically restarts and sometimes its kernal panics. I just really want to know how I can fix or if I can fix this at home because it usually happens at the worst times and its getting really annoying so if anyone knows a fix, I'll be very grateful! The battery is messed up and isn't in the laptop if that helps
I believe it's a sign your GPU is failing which is a common issue with your model. Take it in for service. I believe Apple may have a replacement program that has not yet expired.
