Random Kyocera Shut Downs.
I have a Kyocera Hydro. Nice phone and very little that I find wrong with it except one thing.
I have had this phone randomly shut down on me 2 times now. Once it was in the middle of the night when it was plugged in and charged fully.
The second time it was at my desk at work. It was not plugged in with over 50% battery and sitting in my satchel.
In order to get the phone back up again I need to pull the battery from the back and re-seat it.
The only common factor that I have managed to pull from both of these incidents is that the WiFi was connected. There is no time of day, no specific event that happened before, nothing. It's running 4.1.2.
Anyone?
Well....I spoke too soon. I did a restart before bed last night. I woke up not to a shut down phone, but a frozen one.
The green charge light was on, even after I unplugged it, and had to remove the battery to reset it. Oddly enough it knew that it was supposed to be on when I put the battery back in...as in I didn't need to power it on because it started booting back up automatically.
I haven't added or removed any apps since the last time. I'm now also seeing that the freezing times are approximately 2 weeks apart. Again...the only connecting factor is that I had the wireless active when I went to bed.
I will examine if I can get by without a truly useful phone for 2 weeks....I'll let you know.

Random undesired shut downs.
I'm having random undesired shut downs with my iPhone 4S,iOS 5.1.1 & i have to press both the "home" & "power" button for a few seconds before i can reboot it. I can't reboot it simply by pressing the "power" button, which is the normal way to switch an iPhone on,& i had to resort to pressing both the buttons to reboot it. Is this a symptom of any unnormalities with my iPhone? & how can i get it fixed?

Power Mac G4 MDD Random Power Shut Down
I am located in Thailand and have a Power Mac G4 purchased in November 2003. Last month the computer shut-down at random times and during various types of operations. CPU and hard drive temperatures were well within range, the installed battery tested at 3.5 volts. A new UPS was purchased with surge protection, no software was provided or appeared necessary. Often times the computer would re-start if I let it set for 30 minutes or more. Sometimes if the power plug was removed and re-inserted or the UPS re-set, the computer would start.
Associated hardware consists of Canon Printer, Mac keyboard, Kensington turbo ball, stand alone backup hard disk, flash card reader, ViewSonic moniter (8 to 10 years old), flash card reader, USB hub and audio system. Am connected to the internet via a router with one other computers on the line.
The problem has occurred with and without the attached hardware except for the monitor, keyboard and turbo ball which had to be attached to operate. The keyboard, turbo ball and computer where serviced by local Apple service center. The keyboard and turbo ball checked out OK. After sever attempts since the shutdowns were random and could not be forced, the service center after much testing and waiting decided the logic board need replacement which was done (400+ USD). A new power supply was ordered but they stated it did not need replacement.
Since the new logic board was installed and run for three days with no problem, the computer was returned with 90 day warranty. The problem almost immediately returned but has run OK for long periods of time before a random shut-down occurs. The shop was contacted and we are continuing to observe the problem but I hate to give up the use of my only computer for another month, like the last repair.
The following chart is a play by play account since the repairs.
The shop and I are completely stumped and any comments would be appreciated

Welcome to Discussions!
Replace the power cord. If this doesn't alleviate the condition, (from your description) I would consider the PSU to be the most likely suspect. -
PB boots randomly while shut down
Since installing the latest security update last week, my Powerbook keeps booting randomly while being shut down - day and night. There is no automatic start up or wake scheduled in the system prefs, and no application has been installed since that might lead to automatic boot ups. Any idea on how to fix that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Powerbook G4 1.67GHz Mac OS X (10.4.9)Hi mcp,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
That Sec Update is known to have issues. Read this for potential fixes.
Also, you have an Aluminum PB, while this is the Titanium folder. You'd likely get better help for your machine by posting in the Aluminum folder. Good luck. -
IBook G3 800MHZ-experiencing random sudden shut-downs
Hi,
I am looking for a little knowledgeable advice with a problem I just started experiencing. I recently wiped my hard drive clean and installed Tiger from a retail CD version. I then used system upgrade to take it to 10.4.11.
I have begun experiencing random sudden power shut-downs. The bad, instantaneous type like someone ripping out the power cord. This happens when running the iBook off of the power adapter and/or running it off of the battery. The battery is a fairly new replacement that holds a full charge.
I have run the following procedures trying to solve the mystery:
-Resetting the PRAM
-Resetting the PMU (several times)
-Starting up in Safe Mode
-Repairing permissions using Disk Utility.
Suspicions after reading hours of support forums
-Bad DC board -- fairly easily and inexpensive to replace
-Bad logic board -- I see there is a shim trick that I may try.-- I don't want to replace it since they are so expensive.
-possible kernel attacks from latest update of Tiger on a G3
Any suggestions would be more than appreciated. Thanks.
ScottIt is unique.
I'm not sure about the shim trick. It sounds like a different problem from the one the shim works to fix, but you could try it.
It's really quite a chore to replace the logic board.

Often you will find that it is just as cheap (or nearly so) to send it in to DT & T Computer Services in Fremont, California. They offer the cheapest repair I've found and have a six-month warranty on the repair. -
Random websites shut down when i open them
hi,
i was wondering if anyone could help me. there are certain websites (well a majority) that just shut down completely when i go to them. I tried this on firefox and safari. In the past they use to work out fine. I use to be able to go to websites to view videos and now i it shut downs. i can't even get on nba.com, facebook, dictionary.com (a few of the sites), . I ran some virus or spam programs to see if i might have anything on my computer but there is nothing.
Do you think it may be some odd file sitting on my computer... if it is how should i get rid of it or possibly "clean" up my computer?
Im desperate.. nothing seems to work. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
It's not a virus. Try Onyx for Tiger available here; http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
Run the Maintenance and Cleaning scripts, reboot your Mac and try those web sites.
And make sure you have enough available drive space: Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Not enough available drive space and apps crash/freeze.

My computer randomly keeps shutting down.

[Athlon64] Computer power cycling randomly upon shut down.
Ok, for some reason my machine has started cycling power for a second in a cycle when I power down sometimes.
If I select Turn Off computer from Windows XP, the computer shuts down.
Then, I see the power light blink....the diagnostic lights of the motherboard, all four blink, the fan clicks and spins for a second.
This happens repeatedly. I tried unplugging the computer, then plugging it back in. As soon as I plug it back in, the process starts. The fan spins up, power light blinks on then off...diagnostic lights (all 4) go on, the network plug goes on. Now, this just happens automatically. I do not have to press the power on switch.
It's started happening with some regularity. I usually leave my computer running for days, so perhaps that's why I haven't experienced this problem more often.
Any ideas on what could be happening? From what you are saying it doesn't sound like it is running well now.
I would do a reset and see if it will post. Then run Memtest86 at the correct RAM timings top see what you get. Otherwise the only other thing I can assume is the PSU went or maybe one of the componants somewhere in the box which will require more extensive troubleshooting. You are going to have to start somewhere.
Oh if you have overcooked the machine set it back to defaults. -
I bought my computer this past july, and in the past week or so it has been randomly turning off on its own. I believe it is usually online when it does this, and it has occurred about four times. There is no warning, and I am sure the computer has power. Any ideas why this may be?
thanksThis topic is discussed daily.
Try searching in the search field.
I had this problem, sent mine in last Thursday and recived it the following Tuesday. It has to do with the Logic Boards.
They replaced my logic board and got me a new LCD because mine squeaked. It's worth it. I couldn't stand RSD's.

Hi,
I installed Air 3.7 earlier, now my internet radio won't stay on,sometimes it'll work for 20 seconds, and then it'll work for 20 mins. Usually I can listen all night, but so far in the last 2 hours I've had to restart Radio 27 times so far. I just wondered if any one had any ideas. I have tried uninstall/re install etc, but it does'nt seem to make a difference. My radio updates automatically, so I don't think it will let me run the previous version. Can anyone help?Thank you for the response. I bought the card on ebay from an outfit called Powerbox Technology in Grand Forks, ND. Here is what they said the in the auction description:
The item being sold is a BRAND NEW ATI Radeon 9200 128MB DDR AGP dual monitor video card with VGA, DVI-I, and S-Video ports. The auction includes a DVI-I to VGA adapter so that two VGA monitors can be used at the same time and a s-video to rca adapter cable. The card can operate in independent "extended desktop" dual monitor, "mirror desktop" dual monitor, or single monitor mode. The card is Quartz Extreme compatible in OS X and is VersaVision compatible with the newest version of ATI Displays installed.
We guarantee that this video card will work in any G4 Cube or G4/G5 Tower with an available AGP slot that is running any version of OS 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, or OS 10.4. We have personally tested one of this model in a G4 Sawtooth 2X AGP, G4 Quicksilver 4X AGP, G4 Cube, and G5 8X AGP Tower. Please note that if you install this card into a G4 Cube you will need to remove the metal bracket.
The item being sold is a PC video card that has been professionally converted by a Mac technician and tested in the systems stated below. Apple never made an AGP version of the 9200. We have tested one of these cards extensively and have found no problems in OS 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, or 10.4. We sell a lot of Mac compatible hardware and have a quite a bit of experience with Mac products.

Why does my phone start up randomly and shuts down randomly?
I installed OS version 5.0.0 on my phone when this issue started and restored the phone with 5.0.1 thinking this might help. It has not. Any suggestions?
I used the "restore to factory settings" featrue erasing all data, however I saved the photos into iPhoto first. i didn't knwo how to backup the data first. Perhaps it;s soemthing in one or more of the photos as the problem ws not resolved.
This is for a friend of mines iPhone and he said everything was working with the phone smoothly until he installed OS 5.0.1. -
I have a 2011 IMAC operating on 10.9.5 with 16 G memory that will randomly just shut down on me. Before it does, it will make a skipping noise, freeze and then shut down. I am a photographer and am always on Photoshop or Lightroom. What could this be? The report says..

I having a problem where my iMac will randomly shut down without warning. Doesn't matter what app I'm using. The weird thing is that it ONLY happens after it has gone through a sleep/wake cycle. It doesn't happen after doing a cold start. The random shutdown happens anywhere from 30 secs to 30 mins after waking. I've tried the SMC reset, didn't help.
It is really starting to be a pain because I prefer to put it to sleep instead of shutting it off. Please help.I'm having same problem. Random shut downs are truly random with shut down interval changing from 2 seconds to 20 minutes or more. I've tried everything, including reset SMU, PRAM, disk diagnostics. Disk checks out. I also deleted the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file, then reset SMU again. No go!
From what I have read seems like a power supply issue. I guess I've got a good run since buying this iMac in Aug 2005. I read on another thread that www.synaptech.com has reliable replacements.
If anyone has any other ideas, then please share!
thanks and good luck! -
