Random Loud clicking while adjusting MBP 13 inch Lid

At first this clicking would happen maybey once every 100 times i re ajusted my lid of the laptop but now its happening more and more often, its a loud clicking sound. I want to take it into the apple store but i cant recreate the clicking on my own. it happens randomly. So two questions. Is this common for MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012 model) ? and will the apple store do anyhting about it even if i cant get it to malfunction at the store? im under the factory warenty. thanks.

You will have to take it in and see what they can do for you.

• LED 24" CD Loud Clicking

I have the new 24" LED display which I ordered with a MBP in Feb 09.
I have no dead pixels nor do I hear any of the other "popping" noises that others are describing (heat expansion related).
A month or so ago, though, I noticed that when the display goes to sleep/blanks, it makes a rather loud clicking sound, which most definitely sounds like a relay. FWIW, this is actually loud enough to wake me from a light sleep. It also seems to be a recent development rather than something that's been happening since day 1, as I'm sure I would have noticed this before last month had it been doing it the whole time I've owned it.
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue, i.e. is it "normal"? If not, has anyone called Apple Care about this?
Thanks.

I have the same problem with my CD 24". The clicking sound isn't loud enough to wake me up though, but it's definitely irritating.
The same clicking sound can be heard if I adjust the brightness to below 50%.

If I close the computer and open it back up, it sometimes stops for a little while, then will spontaneously start again. Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

See this knowledge base article. Also, you might want to update to 10.6.8 (don't know that that will fix your problem, but it's the latest version of Snow Leopard).

• Loud clicking/rattling noise every 5 seconds

My MacBook Air makes a loud clicking or rattling noise exactly every 5 seconds. It originates from the bottom of the MacBook, approximately somewhere behind the "P" key. The noise sounds just like a broken clicking hard drive except that I have the SOLID STATE DRIVE MacBook! I'm thinking it might be a fan issue. What is causing this noise and how do I fix it?
The noise is very loud, in the video below you can listen to it if you turn up your volume.
http://www.tokbox.com/vm/xa9bk58b1hr4
Can I bring the MacBook Air to an Apple store, and can they fix it on the spot by swapping out the broken fan or whatever it is?

I had the exact same problem; my new MBA made the noise right out of the box. Sounded like it was snoring. Rather discouraging, this being my very first mac. BUT, I think I fixed it.
I downloaded istat, and noticed that the exhaust fan RPM was 0. So, the problem seemed to be that the fan was "stuck." And, I know this sounds awful and wrong, but I gave my machine a sharp little rap just under the power key, to the right of the delete/slash/return keys. Just a soft knock, using the section of my index finger I'd use to show a child how long an inch is. The snoring went away immediately, and the fan speed went up to roughly 2490rpm.
Seems like a stupid manufacturing glitch, which I REALLY don't feel like dealing with after dropping a few thousand on this machine. But the fix was easy enough.

• Macbook Pro and Beolab3 random loud popping sound

I'm using Macbook Pro and Bang & Olufsen Beolab3 speakers (powered speakers) connect using headphone output but I hear random loud popping sound. Sometimes so loud that it made me jump. It is definitely not a program generated sound. It is more like some sort of electrical interference. This could happen both while an audio is being played or just on standby. The laptop is less than a month old.
The speakers are fine as I tested with other laptop. Is this normal for this combination? or there actually is a fault with my sound card? I need to know so I can do something about it while it is under warrantee. I was recommend to get a audio DAC. But I need to make sure that it is not a problem with the laptop first.
Thanks. Please help. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your Mac is all mucked up. Your recourse is an Apple store or Authorized Apple Service. You can also all AppleCare.

I cannot "click" on the top inch of any screen when in firefox. This prevents me from signing in and out of certain webpages. If I minimize the screen this does not go away either. This doesn't happen when I am either on my desktop or using IE. I love firefox, but this is frustrating! Help!

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
* You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
• Loud click from home button

I recently purchased an iPhone 4 and a 3GS from AT&T. While I like the iphone 4, I have noticed that the home button on that has more travel and a noticably louder click than 3GS. Since I have never owned an iPhone before, I was hoping if the gurus on this forum can help me understand if this is a normal behavior for the iphone 4. I am especially worried if this will get worse going forward.
I would wait to hear on this forum before I take my phone to the apple store for evaluation of this issue.

Per the redesign the home button, volume buttons, and power button were designed to have a more click sense sound. It's designed like that on purpose to give it more feel to the customers.
A few don't enjoy it, but others like it or don't mind it.
Nothing to be afraid of. Just to get used to and enjoy.

• Loud Clicking Noise

My Macbook Pro 1.83 has been doing fantastic until very recently.
I made a movie project for a group and just finished burning about 10 dvds with this project on it. Now whenever I eject a CD or DVD it sounds like its getting thrown around inside, then following a very loud CLICK it is ejected.
I am not sure if something popped loose inside or if this is even an issue. It is bothering me and I am thinking about calling Apple Care.
Anyone with similair issues?

Some clicks are normal, while others are not. I'd have a service technician listen to it in a quiet room. I would backup my data first in anycase, as my FAQ states:

• Loud clicking and squeaking from my mac and locking up.

Hello,
Last march my family bought a 24in. imac (info below).
Now about half a year later, it has started to act up.
Every day or two, while using it, a loud clicking and squeaking sound will start and the computer will lock up and won't let me do anything until the sound stops.
I'm 99% sure that it's the hard-drive, will apple replace it under their warranty?
and also if I call to find out and it's not covered will I get charged for the conversation?
I do have all of my files backed up, but I do NOT want the hard-drive to fail right after my warranty ends.
Any suggestions?

Hello BAB222
The iMac's Hardware is covered for 1 year, don't wait call your local Apple Service Provider or Apple Store and take it in for service.
http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
You may be charged if you call Apple Support, but not the local Service Provider or Apple Store.
It's not to late to buy Apple Care for your iMac, if you are within the first year.

• Laserjet Pro m177fw makes loud clicking noise and then is stuck initializing, won't print

Hi,
Had this printer delivered today, it looks awesome, but when I turn it on, it has a loud clicking noise (like something trying to turn, but not grabbing a gear or something inside, this happens immediately upon turning it on, and then it's stuck in Initializing. If I go into the home button and go to system settings, then reports then configuration report, I get a big green check. I did notice that on the right most menu item, there is a yellow warning, and it doesn't seem to be able to get the detail on the ink levels of the colours. I took out the ink cartridge and looked at it and it doesn't look like there is something to pull out to activate the cartridge (there was in my really old HP Laser jet).
What am I missing on setup? I've read the instructions twice and also hard powered off the printer by pulling the plug and waiting a minute to plug it back in. Same thing occurs, thanks!

Please follow these steps to take the cartridges out.
Touch the Icon and indicated on the pic.
It will come up with a screen which looks like this
Touch on the black cartridge icon and it will display " moving black cartridge to front".
Now open the cartridge door and remove the black toner.
Close the door and touch the cyan and it will move it to the front and you will have to open the door again and take the cyan out, close the door again and repert the process for magenta and yellow.
And when you want to reinstall them the same steps have to be repeated.
Do let me know the results

• I can't change the date on my photos. i click on adjust change and date and it does not give me the earliest date to change

I can't change the date on my photos in events. I click on adjust date and time of selected photos and the date that I can edit is the oldest photo date and not the earliest. Help?

iPhoto should be showing you the date of the first photo you selected.
What do you want to achieve? It should not matter, which photo you select to adjust the time, because all photos will be corrected by the same fixed increment, if you use "Adjust Date and Time".
If you want to set all photos to the same time, use "Photos > Batch Change > Set Date to" instead.

• MBP in lid closed mode, will the display get to hot?

i run my MBP in lid closed mode all of the time, as i have a Cinema Display hooked up. i'm not too worried about the MBP overheating, but i was wondering about the display getting extra hot from the MBP when it's closed. i do have a radtech microfibre cloth on top of the keys as protection...
should i be concerned?
17" MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm interested in this issue too, as I intend to get an MBP but use it with an external screen and keyboard most of the time.
I'd also like to know about ventilation - where does the cooling air come from and go to? What parts need to be kept clear, and which bits can I have up against or close to a bookshelf or hutch or whatever?
Thanks in advance.
PS, I think the glossy screens look fantastic, but also think I'll go for matte since they are more practical.
