Random low volume after pause.

I have an HD 2tb box about 15 month old. Connected to a Sony cinema system which is always used to deliver the sound. This set up has worked fine until 6 weeks ago. A fault has developed. Pressing play after a live pause the volume is sometimes low and sky has to be paused again for it to return to normal. Sometimes severe repauses are needed to reset the volume. Any ideas?

Lately when I open Logic and open a recent song, the volume through my monitors is very low, and I have to restart in order to rectify this. Any ideas as to what might be happening, and how to fix it?
Too much info... no , wait, too little info.
Are you on the mac's soundcard? Turn up the volume with the speaker thingy.
Are you using a dedicated sound card? Turn up the volume on it's software control.

  • Low volume after upgrading to 4.5.0.110 on 8310

    Greetings,
It seems that after following the upgrade directions that AT&T sent me to upgrade to 4.5 everything looks great but my max volume has gone down. I have to max out the gps volume to hear it, playing MP3's are noticeably softer, and the ring is like normal when before I could hear it across the house. Everything I can find is set to max. Is this a byproduct of the upgrade that I am stuck with or is there some way to get my volume back how it was before the upgrade? I have an 8310, the new os version is 4.5.110. Help! I want my music back to how it was!
    Thanks

Besides turning audio buster on in the options while at the music, No there is no way to make it louder. The Version 4.5 under regulations was forced to make the sound lower then it was. Blame the People who have hurt their ears by carelessness

HHas anyone noted a problem with low or no volume after update to iOS 8.1.3?

Although this reply is late.  I just want to share that I have the same issue - no LTE after upgrade to 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5.  No matter switch on/off iPhone or LTE option or Airplane Mode -  they all didn't work....but after an upgrade to 8.2 today.  I got my LTE back now after a month...not sure if it is a bug or a reset work.  Good luck to anyone who looking for the resolution of same issue.

  • Very low sound volume after 2.6.38.3-1 update

    Hello,
Yesterday before logging off I updated the kernel from 2.6.38.2-1 to 2.6.38.3-1 sucessfully. Today I log in and notice that there's no sound coming from my speakers or headphones. So I pull the volume sliders to max and notice that sound works but is output with an extremely low volume. I checked alsamixer for muted channels but there wasn't, but some channels disappeared from there (front, surround, center...) but PCM and master were at max.
I switched phonon backends (KDE user) but no result. Anyways non-kde/phonon apps have the same issue.
Downgrading kernel version to 2.6.38.2-1 makes sound volume back to normal.
My Audio device (integrated) is : nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2), ruled by the snd_hda_intel module.
I never had sound/alsa issues since I am on Linux, so I'm noobish concerning this. Is there any idea(s) to make it work properly in the 2.6.38.3-1 kernel ?
    Thanks in advance.

Almost the same here: Intel HDA audio, no speaker sound with 2.6.38.3 but I get sound in my headphones (front output.)
Downgrading to 2.6.38.2 (or 2.6.32-lts) makes speakers work again.
I tried to blacklist snd_hda_codec_hdmi thinking that maybe sound was being output to HDMI, but that didn't change anything (besides snd_hda_codec_hdmi not being loaded, of course.)
I also compared the sound modules list between 2.6.38.2 and 2.6.38.3 but they are the same.
I also ran "sudo alsactl store" to get rid of the errors at boot but that didn't help either, except removing the errors. (I unfortunately didn't log these errors, it was alsactl complaining about the contents of the asound.state file...)
    Edit: alsactl.store -> asound.state... :-\

  • Computer freezes, then a low-volume, high pitch sound

    Hello there,
My trusty 2002 MDD is randomly freezing on me for the 1st time! Disk Warrior nor Disk Utility form external boot-ups detect anything wrong. Thus, it doesn't seem to be a hard drive issue. Memory status on System Profiler checks OK.
Once the beach ball appears I can't do anything but press the power button to shut it down. I've noticed that while frozen a very low-volume, high pitch sound can be heard. ???
Thanks a lot for any feedback that you may provide,
    Jacobo

    Hatter,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Like you proposed, I've started from my FW drive (not after a freeze though) and everything drive-related checks OK.
Yes, my video card (Radeon 9800) does have a fan. I've though about this and the PSU as well. The latter is the quieter, less powerful one.
My drives are less than a year old and seem to be OK.
I’ve run Applejack (w/ memory check) and all is good.
Can the Apple Diagnostic CD pinpoint any of these issues?
My MDD has been incredible when it comes to reliability. She has not given me ANY problems whatsoever while stressed to its limits.
    Thanks again for your time,
    Jacobo

  • Seemingly low volume for X-Fi Xtrememu

Today, the second time I booted up my computer I began to receive an interesting problem. My audio worked to some extent, but the volume was exceedingly low. I had to put my ear right next to the speakers to hear anything. I pulled out my headphones and plugged them in -- Same result, low volume. When I disabled the X-Fi and enabled my onboard audio, the volume was crystal clear and worked perfectly fine. I didn't change any software, drivers, hardware, or anything of that sort within the two reboots either.
I checked the obvious and made sure my volume was high in the X-Fi configuration panel, the windows panel, and my media players. Everything was maxed out. When I turned up my volume to the maximum on my speakers I could hear things better, but it was horribly distorted and sounded as if they were being over dri'ven. Normally I never have to increase the volume on the speakers much to hear anything, their usually on about 20-30% and I hear them perfectly fine.
I posted about this before on another site and It was recommended I try installing the latest drivers. So I decided to do an uninstall of the X-Fi drivers for good measure and, after rebooting, I installed the drivers and rebooted once more as it prompted me. The same exact result as before: sound that seems to have very low volume. After this, they recommended I try a different PCI slot as it may be damaged. I tried the other PCI slot and I had the same exact results as before. I did not want to install the card into the slot right next to my video card because it looked like the fan would be right up against the PCB of the X-Fi and that it might impede air flow and cause both cards to overheat.
Does anyone know what might be the problem? I'm using the latest drivers I saw (September 9th I believe) and the X-Fi has worked great for the past week and a half. I really don't want to have to own a $00 paperweight and revert to onboard audio.
Edit: If it helps any, I'm running on the following:
    Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe
    AMD Opteron 70
    X-Fi Xtrememusic
    GeForce 7900 GT
If you need any other info, i'll post it.Message Edited by Sagekilla on 0-22-2006 2:9 PM

Bump.. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've made a list of all the fixes I've attempted
    - Checked the volume in Creative's console, the Windows volume control in my tray bar, and in the Control Panel under "Audio and Sound devices"
    - Made sure default device was the X-Fi
    - Made sure the speakers was plugged in the right spot
    - Made sure the speakers weren't faulty (I tested with a pair of head phones and on my iPod)
    - Made sure I had the latest drivers
    - Did the diagnostic, didn't help
    - Did a system restore that made things worse
    - Switched the PCI slot the sound card was in
    - Tried onboard audio and found the audio there worked fine (I don't want onboard audio and a $00 paper weight though)
    - Made sure onboard audio was uninstalled and disabled
    - Posted on the creative labs forums and got no replies
    - Safe Mode doesn't even recognize the Sound card
I'm pretty sure this isn't something stupid like "Is the volume turned up?"

  • My low volume button doesn't work on my Iphone 4, how can I fix it?

Okay so I dropped my iphone in the parking lot garages of my apartment complex and the ground was cement, when i picked it up the screen wasn't cracked or anything so i thought it was okay but once i started listening to music and I wanted to lower the volume and so I pushed the low volume button but nothing happen....The high volume button works fine but now the low volume button so if you want to lower the volume on my phone now you have to do it manually....Also after the drop i turned off silent mode on the side and the clicking sound wasn't there and I checked in the settings, it said it was on and the volume was on but I heard no clicking sound!!! How can I solve these two problems? Can I go to an Apple Store and let them fix my iphone if I don't have AppleCare?

    Hi there Jaz94,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • No sound vs low volume

I recently experienced the loss of all sound on my phone. It began after I unplugged the ear phones. I could not hear it ring and I could not hear anyone on the line although they could hear me. It was basically dead for about 4 hours or until I plugged the ear phones back in causing something to reset or whatever. It works fine now and Apple asked that I call when it occurs again so that we can try and trouble shoot and narrow the problem. I may have a defective phone.
I do not think this has any correlation with the "low volume" problem that everyone is talking about. I will agree with another writer that the volume is low until you activate the speaker but I have been using the speaker/hands free since the first day so perhaps that is why I have never experienced low volume. I think if the speaker is activated everyone will experience normal sound volume.

I installed the Audigy 2 ZS last night. Updated everything, all of the drivers. I plug in my speakers, and nothing at low volume. I turn on music, and theres nothing. If I turn the volume all the way up, theres distortion, white noise, and a bunch of static, but I can hear the music very faintly. I've disabled the onboard audio, and followed the FAQ, but nothing. Any ideas?
Output volume is set with "Wave" and "Master" controls. Max the Wave and control with Master.
In many cases if PSU is weak --> you get issues of this type. Try to remove (temporarily) devices like CD/DVD, floppy, etc. (just remove power/data cables) to see if PSU is the culprit for your issue.
    Also, have you checked/tried
    - audio HW acceleration and SR conversion quality --> set both max
    - audio codecs --> reinstallation can be helpful
    - muted all other sources but the one(s) you're using (i.e. all other sources can be muted if only playing audio files)
    - digital output only set properly (speaker settings/THX console)
    - speakers connected as should (2/2. --> green jack, etc.) and plugs properly pushed in
    - speakers set correct (2/2., 4/4., 5., 6/6., 7.)
    - used different output device drivers on audio players (DS/MME/WDM/...)
    - ASIO capable player --> shows if you have sound driver issue (creative/windows)
    - reinstalled directX, WMP (updates audio codecs)
    - etc.

  • Lower volume button not working

    Lower volume button not working

Take it to the Genius Bar while you are still under warranty and they should be able to fix it.  I went, one day after my warranty expired.  While they confirmed the problem in my iPhone 5, they said it would be $269 to fix.  The tech did helpfully show me how there's a much less convenient softkey workaround using General >Accessibility > AssistiveTouch.  Not happy about it.

  • Why are midi notes in piano roll lower volume when selected with pointer than when in playback?

I'm using Logic X on mac mini. When I select midi notes in piano roll with the pointer, they are at a  lower volume than when in playback? I use Logic X on mac mini with Apogee Duet.

Thanks for your help Erik.  I found the answer you posted about 30 minutes after posting my question.  To me it doesn't answer my question 100%.  The reason is that I can't expect to believe that every time someone records midi they have to go through all these extra steps to merge it (and it is not easy to do because they are hidden behind one another) in fact my problem was so unique that other logic users didn't understand why I am having this trouble.  SO that brings me to my conclusion, that I have some setting that is keeping this from being a seamless operation and transforming it into a bunch of hoop jumps.  Thoughts?  Could it have to do with record settings of "merge"? I saw a few  different settings there but none make sense to me.
    thanks again.

  • M-Audio Profire/AKG mic... LOW volume! Power issues?

Hey guys, desperately need some help here. So I've got an M-Audio Profire 610 interface, using an AKG Perception 200 condenser mic. I am having issues with REALLY LOW VOLUME! And I'm pretty positive I have everything setup correctly. XLR to XLR mic cable(I threw out my old one and bought a brand new one, still didn't solve the problem). I've got phantom power on and the profire is connected via firewire 400. All drivers and software are up-to-date. Got the latest OSX, running all of this on a relatively new imac.
I have no idea why the AKG mic won't pick up sounds nearly as loud as it should. I have the gain up on the Profire up at 90% which is sufficient enough but the recordings are muffly and not as crisp as they used to be. Once upon a time I used this same mic with a Powerbook G4 and M-Audio Mobile Pre, and the mic worked AMAZINGLY in both Garageband and Logic Express, it picked up EVERYTHING and I never needed to put the gain on the Mobile Pre past 40%--it was a super sensitive mic. One day out of nowhere, however, the gain volume became ridiculously low and I had to max everything out on the Mobile Pre and Garageband/Logic, but it sounded like crap. No hiss and not too much distortion, just LOW volume. The mic was hardly used and I'm having a hard time believing the mic is the problem, just because I only used it a handful of times before the gain crapped out on me. The strong sensitivity came on and off a couple times after that, but the volume is now low all the time. The only other mic I've tried to use with the Profire is an SM57. It works, but really low gain. Guitars and keys have worked perfectly fine, no gain problems.
I thought the original problem back in the day was my Mobile Pre, so I bought the Profire. Now I'm still having the same problem with ultra low volume. My mic used to pick up sounds from another room or even cars driving outside my window, and now I have to sing RIGHT into it for anything to even be audible. What the **** happened to my crisp/loud sounds? Is it possible that I'm not getting enough power? Would running the Profire via firewire 800 help at all? I'm going crazy here, I have no idea why my mic totally blows now. I guess at this point it seems like the mic could be the problem, but I'm scared of buying a new condenser mic and having the SAME problem all over again.
What do you guys think? Power problems, the mic itself, wrong setup? All I want to do is pin point this thing, any help at all would seriously be appreciated!

Since you've already swapped cables, I would guess it's either the mic or the interface. Since you've already swapped interfaces, logically I would guess it's the mic.
Can you bring the mic to a music store or some other place where you could plug it into another interface or mixing board and see if it also doesn't work there? That would clinch it.

  • IPhone 3G v 3.0 very low volume in BMW

I've had my iPhone 3G successfully connected via BT to my 2007 BMW 530xi. Everything worked fine for over six months, but after I upgraded to version 3.0, the volume of an incoming call is significantly lower than prior to upgrading to 3.0. I have the car radio volume turned up as high as it goes. Anyone else notice the same problem.

While you are on a call on Bluetooth®, press the "up" volume button on the side of the iPhone. "Bluetooth Volume" will pop up on the iPhone screen, and you can increase it to max, which should solve your low volume problem.

  • Low volume in dock

I got my ipod in an universal dock, wich is connected to both my computer and stereo. It always worked very well but suddenly the volume dropped alot and when I put my stereo on the highest volume it's still very quiet. Anyone has/had the same problem or knows how to fix this?

I also have the same problem when i use the radio remote plugged into the dock connector. The volume is so low even after I have run the iPodVolumeBooster app. Hooked to the remote I have a pair of Sennheiser PXC 250 with the noise reduction circuitry. When I plug the headphones to the jack on top of iPod the sound volume is vastly superior. I also notice this when I use my Grado SR 80 in the jack when I am at the office. I have boosted the volume 100% on several albums in iTunes in addition to boosting the volume with iPodVolumeBooster.
Is there something I am doing wrong?

  • Low volume when importing from iTunes

The volume level is fine when previewing in iMovie06 Media/Audio. After clicking "place at playhead", the imported audio track has very low volume.
I tried other suggestions in this forum, including raising audio track level to 150%, and saving to CD and re-importing to iTunes as AIFF (which seemed to help a little), but still the volume level of the imported audio in iMovie is still way too low. This is originally a midi file my son created. It is not purchased or protected content. It imported into iTunes fine and sounds fine there. Had the same problem with a "jaws" audio clip downloaded free online. Fine in iTunes, barely audible after importing into iMovie.
Experimenting, I made a brand new movie and only imported the audio clip, and the volume level was fine. So, it has something to do with the movie I'm working on.
Help! I already blew a few hours on this issue and now am up against a deadline.

    Hi
    two ways
    a) Use an audio-editor like Audacity (freeware) and increase Your .aiff files
    b) You noticed that You can get the audio clip in to iMovie and amplify it to 150%
    • Copy this audio-clip. Paste it ontop of the first one = 300% amplified audio
Do this as many times as You need it (until it gets audio distorsion)

ever since updating to 7.6.80.103 the sounds have a low volume since previous versions.
for example when wearing headphones, and i receive a message i would hear the sound very loud in my ears, now  i can barely hear it.

    Hey themky,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like a problem with the receiver on the iPhone. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
