Random mouse movements and folders open and close unaided

The mouse cursor wanders around the screen, folders open and close by themselves, dashboard opens and closes, etc. Either a bit of malware or a hardware problem?

I try to delete these extra insertions, but the mouse will not release the clip.
Action I’ve taken: I’ve re-installed Premiere Elements 13. Problem remains.
This issue has consumed too much of my time and does not go away. It ruins my video.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.

Apple TV 2 all of a sudden has trouble streaming. I stream from my desktop computer's iTunes for movies, and tonight it started stopping randomly mid movie and saying it wasn't connected. Any ideas? Router? ATV dying?

It just says not connected, and as soon as it bails to menu, it connects again and will play for another minute before doing the same thing all over again.

It sounds like your Apple TV is having trouble streaming videos from iTunes on your computer. This symptom could have a variety of causes, and I'd suggest the following initial troubleshooting steps.

Capture border, mouse movements and screen area showing incorrectly

I'm using Captivate4 on Win7 Pro 32bit to record a web demonstration on IE8. Setting the capture area only records a portion of the selected area, and portions outside (and including) the red boundary line. Mouse movements and clicks are also off. I've disabled hardware acceleration and tried a few different screen resolutions.
This occurs in every recording mode and in every capture arrangement - application, predefined, or custom size. Full screen recording captures the correct area, but the slides are very large and cursor actions are still off. The border disappears when Hide is checked, but the area captured is still completely different from the area selected.
I've included screenshots of both the capture area selected and the actual area recorded.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it - thanks in advance!

Change your computer screen resolution to match what you set in Captivate, and you will capture everything.
I had to change mine from 1920x1080 (on a 13" laptop) to 1280x720 which is the maximum in Captivate. As soon as I did that, the entire screen was captured as intended.

After web page finish, mouse movement and scroll up down very slow.

I compare the same page on MS internet explorer and have no problem.
p.s. I'm using intel core 2 dual on 4gb ddr3 windows vista 32bit.

Thanks for both of these answers. I am finding that I do not
like the totally manual method all that much (but it does work).
Using the PrintScreen-before-and-after-each-action method seems a
little better for me. Either method requires way too much editing
for a simple "let me show you" movie. I have moved on to version 3
since it seems to behave a little better.
I think it is odd how sometimes Captivate puts an action
(like a mouse click) on a background from *two* slides previous.
Why would it ever go backward - especially skipping over the
previous slide to get an even older screen. If I have forced a
screen capture, you would think it would stay with that.
I realize that I am not using Captivate where its strengths
seem to be (eLearning) but there must be a lot of people capturing
demos of web-based material. Does everyone have this
problem?

Flatten, Move and Close PDF

Using Adobe X and would like to be able to create an action(script) that will flatten a open PDF, move (save) and close the PDF all with one action (button?). When a user has a PDF open on their local desktop and have finished processing the document (custom stamp) would like to be able to flatten the document and then move it to a network file location. It can keep the existing name or be renamed, it does not matter. Then would like the action or script to close the open PDF on the local desktop. Have researched web and can not find a solution. Is this possible thru java? Thanks in advance for any help.

As try 67 said, this type of operation sequence is quite common, but requires writing an automation script. Forturnately everything you need to create such a solution is out there.

Here is what I want to do:
Whenever a user presses the mouse down and the moves the mouse, I want to synchronize the scrollbar thumb and the mouse. How is it possible?

there are 2 ways to do this depending on what you need from the mouse move
1. To get the difference from when the mouse is pressed
on the mousedown event your store the mouse coordinates -
myX= stageX or LocalX myY= stageY or LocalY
on the mousemove event you subtract the current co-ordinates from the saved cordinates
myXDif = myX-currentX
myYDif = myY-currentY
the difference will be negative or positive you can use that figure to calculate the percentage of range and then set the scrollposition
2. Just track the mouse
on the mouse move calculate the percentage position of the mouse to set the scrollbars
HorizontalScrollPostion= the Max horizontal value * (LocalX /Width)
VerticalScrollPosition= the max vertical value * (LocalY/Height)

This option for wake up seems nice, but in real it is the problem. I need to disable handling mouse movement when system is suspend - but how can I do?

You can try xinput, and hook it to systemd's sleep.target or use xss-lock. If that doesn't work try modprobe or BIOS as suggested (find modules with lsmod).
I'll leave you to investigate the details.
edit: above methods disable the mouse completely; I doubt you can have it both ways.

Need example vi for simulating mouse movements and clicks

I need an example vi that allows me to set the cursor position and simulate mouse left and right clicks, including double clicks. The examples in the development library work up to LabVIEW version 6, but not for version 7, because no block diagrams were included. Thanks.

Random characters get pressed and random mouse movements happen automatical

No idea what's going on, but this has been happening randomly for awhile.
Random commands will get pressed, as if they are coming from my keyboard (I see the 'echo' command a lot) and my mouse will move to random places. It will last for awhile, and then stop.
Help?

Believe it or not, just cleaning your mouse can fix this. Turn it over, make sure there isn't any lint caught on the bottom, and make sure your mouse pad is clean.

ITunes randomly replaces movies and songs

Ok, this is the weirdest one yet.
iTunes just wrecked a bunch of my movies' metadata.
I recently downloaded the 1080p versions and deleted the 720p versions.
Everything worked fine, but two days later, some of the movies, all of which I bought on the iTunes store, have been assigned covers and metadata from random songs in my music database. In some cases, the names were changed as well.
The songs themselves have been moved into the movies folder, where they now each have their own folder and have "(HD)" added to their file name.
This makes me think that iTunes tries to access the 720p versions of the movies (even though I selected 1080p in the preferences), and just grabs the first file it can find.
In other news, iTunes has deleted some songs and replaced them with .png files it found on my hard drive. All completely at random, from what I can tell.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do?

Another user on this forum identified a cause and solution to this problem. iTunes freezes when playing songs which have channels encoded in "joint stereo" format. If these songs are re-encoded in "stereo" format, they play instantly without any freezing issues. However, it seems tedious for users with large libraries to go through thousands of songs and re-encode them to address this problem.
iTunes updates are notorious for bugs, which is part of the reason why I am still at 8.0.2. I updated to 8.2.1 when it was released, but had to revert back when I encountered this same problem. Apple needs to address the many issues with iTunes 8.2.1. It's also delaying my purchase of an iPhone 3Gs because the 3.0 firmware is only compatible with iTunes 8.2 or higher.

Automator Help With Mouse Movement and Click

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
I'm trying to use Automator to go into my Volume Purchasing Program purchase history (in Chrome) and download each redemption code spreadsheet. I will need the automator script to scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'More Purchases', wait for the page to load, and repeat that many many times. (I have a lot of purchases on my account.) Then I would like to write a second script that I will run after all of the purchases are shown that will click 'Download Codes' for each line. I've done this by hand for over 2 hours now and still have a long ways to go. Figured Automator could help me out.
Any tips on how to accomplish this? I've tried recording my actions but when I play it back, it won't even switch to Chrome.

I have not found automator to be very good at doing this kind of thing.
It is theoretically possible to have applescripts imbedded in Automator that will choose from a dropdown menu, but I have also not found that to be too reliable.

Random Mouse Movement

I've had my iMac for a couple months now and this has been really bothering me.
I know it sounds like I've lost my mind (my husband thinks I'm nuts, lol!), but the mouse seriously just jumps across the screen randomly.
I've owned many Macs over the past 10+ years and this is the first time I've ever had this happen. I'll be surfing the web or whatever and all of a sudden, the pointer just throws itself off to another place completely. It's really bizarre.
The other thing with the mouse is that the little rolling dot refuses to operate half the time. It's like it doesn't "catch" when I'm rolling it. I can push down on it really hard (which brings up the Dashboard incidentally) and force it to roll back and forth a few times until it re-catches and works again, but I'm really fed up with this crappy little mouse and I am just wondering if other have been having this problem and if anyone knows what's up with the jumping around bit.

For the jumpy pointer try a plain gray, blue or black optical mouse pad with a matte finish, they don't like glass, wood grain or glossy printed mouse pads!

To maintain my mouse I use a little rubbing alcohol on a clean lint free cloth, then blow out around the ball every couple of months.

My favorites sidebar will not scroll, nor will folders open or close

My bookmarks sidebar (on the left side of the screen) will not respond to scrolling or selecting. It stopped working when I installed Firefox 7. Went back to Firefox 6 and it still will not scroll. Nothing happens when I click the arrows or move the slider.

does anyone know how to script a mouse click and drag. I tried XTools. No luck. What about Cliclick. I had tons of success with TextCommands but I dont know how to get OSAX plugin code to work. Thanks in advance.
