Random "No Service" after updating to 3.1.3

This is my first post, so please be gentle!
So here is my issue. I was reluctant to upgrade to 3.1.3 as I had heard some people were having slow data throughput on the TELUS network in Toronto. But last week, I figured WTH?! Let's do it.
I regret now. Since upgrading to 3.1.3, my iPhone randomly will go into No Service while I am at my home and usually when it is in SLEEP mode. So far this is the only location where is happens (thank god), but the concern is that this has NEVER happened before on 3.1.2. Coincidentally, the issue usually happens when connected to WIFI as well, and no, I am not actually having the same issue ith data speeds... Just No Service @ all. Let's go through the troubleshooting I did before coming here:
- Soft reset and pulled the SIM out and back.
- Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (I've done this too much for it to be normal. At least once a night)
- Full restore of OS (I deleted the *.ipsw file from my computer to make sure that iTunes downloaded a fresh copy.)
My iPhone is in impeccable condition and has only been dropped once with its case on. I also want to REALLY emphasize that my phone is NOT JAILBROKEN. This is happening on an untampered OS. I also have full signal in my house and am in line of sight of a cell site. Once I do reset my settings and restart the device, I get full service until the next random incident.
If anyone can help me with this it would be AWESOME... Its frustrating to have to reset my device and network settings at least once a day.
Thanks!
~Tom

Not a bug. If a bug, the overwhelming majority of users would be experiencing the same, which is not the case.
Copied from my previous post, which you apparently missed.
+When you restored your iPhone with iTunes, did you restore from your iPhone's backup or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?+
+If the former only, try the latter. If there is a problem with your iPhone's backup, restoring from the backup will also restore the problem.+
+If no change after restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, try getting a new SIM card from your carrier to eliminate a potential problem with your existing SIM card. If no change after that, contact AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. The iPhone includes a one year warranty.+

  • 3gs no service after updating to ios 5 tried network reset, reset all settings and even restoring from back been with out phone for 3 weeks now need help telus cant find network problem and apple has bad customer support please help!!!

my 3gs has no service after updating from ios 5 tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings and restoring from back up on itunes.
telus cant find any network problems and apple is difficult to deal with.please help 3 weeks with no phone and $70 a month not happy.

I have been having a similar problem for the last few days.Without warning the signal will just completely duck out leaving the device searching for several minutes before settling on a no signal message.
Sometimes restarting the device, toggling data and 3g settings or toggling Airplane Mode will set things right. However, a lot of the time I've been left without a working phone.
I don't believe this is a SIM issue, as I had to change my SIM only one month ago for another signal related problem. Again any help would be appreciated here as well.

  • No service after update to 6.1 on my iPhone 5

After updating to iOS 6.1, I can't get service anymore. It comes and goes. My battery went down 40% in an hour. GPS can't get a precise location. Phone is practically unusable! I tried resetting network settings, and then restoring the iPhone, but nothing works. iPhone 5 16GB.
Does anyone know what to do?

  • "No Service" after updating to iPhone OS 3.1.3

After updating to iPhone OS 3.1.3 it seems that around noon it loses connection to the cellular network, telling me "No Service". This is in Belgium on the Proximus network with a 32GB iPhone 3GS.
Turning the phone off and on makes it register to the network again. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

I updated my iPhone 3G 16GB to 3.1.3 from 3.1.2 and have experienced an "No Service" incident.
From the text messages that were delivered after I noticed it and fixed it, it appears the problem occurred last night while I was at my part time job, inside of a heavily shielded building. I'm not certain about the exact moment, but I had been trying to look at an email because I had a very weak signal. Then I lost it, but that wasn't surprising because of the building.
After a reboot, it is working again. I'll post again if I loose my service again.

  • HT201394 No service after update to iOS 8.0.2

After update my iPhone 4s to iOS 8.0.2 , cellular reception drops repeatedly. Also there is problem in switching between 3G to 2G connection since here in India , we hardly have LTE service.

    Hello vishy750,
The troubleshooting steps outlined below can help stabilize your iPhone's connection to your cellular provider's network.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Make sure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Resetting network settings on your device will erase all current saved settings, including Wi-Fi passwords, preferred networks, and VPN settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare.

Why can't I enable location service after upgrading to ISO 6.0

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Droid DNA - No 4G service after update!!!!!

So after being herassed by my phone for the last week to let it update I did this morning and am beyond upset with the outcome.  I no longer am getting 4G service anywhere when for the past 6 months of owning the phone Ive gotten  4g everywhere including my desk where I am writing this now.  I have restarted and shut down the phone multiple times and am only getting either 1X data connection or 3G and too boot; data upload and download dont seem to be functioning properly. When I try to download an app or upload somthing the action will not complete.  What is the point of forcing upgrades that cause the phone to malfunction, I am paying for 4G service and thatsd what I expect to receive.

    Two suggestions. Same result.....
Take Sim card out of phone carefully while phone is off. Wait a few moments and then insert Sim carefully back into device and turn on and see if it grabs 4G again.
Or go to a Verizon wireless corporate store and have them give you a new one and have them put it in for you.
See if either fixes your issue.
    Good Luck

  • HT201210 no service after update

i cant seem to be able to activate my i phone 3gs after upgrade

On my 4s with AT&T this started last summer it would be fixed for a while (varying from 12 hours to a week or so ) BT rebooting the phone.
I went to the AT&T store and they replaced the sim in August which seemed to be a fix but after 2 weeks it was back every few days...
This in in my home where depending on where I am in the house I have between one dot( basement) and 5 dots (attic) of signal strength
since the os7 update I see this about 3 or 4 times a week and it is annoying as whenever a few hours go past I need to check the phone to see if I still have service.

I also tried to find a way to downgrade my OS but seems like there is no way back at all. PLEASE APPLE, if you can't provide an update, then allow us to downgrade the OS for the time being!!! Hello sbsutar
Check out the articles below to troubleshoot issues with No Service and Activation on your iPhone. You would need to make sure that your iPhone is using the correct carrier that it is assigned to it. If it is unlocked, then you would need to contact your carrier.
