Random notifications

my ipad 1 randomly gives notification sound   (that bling like sound).. cannot find what is causing it ...i have turned off notifications..what to do?

I thought I was going out of my mind.  So, it's not just happening to me then?  My problem is that it happens with a person who I removed from my contacts!!  Why am I getting this "*** is online" "*** went offline" messages at all?  The fact that they are sent almost at the same time and about every 3-4 minutes is starting to annoy me.

  • Random notification beep/vibrate

My beloved iPhone randomly beeps/vibrates as if notifying me of new email, on average once every 15 minutes or so. It even does so when I'm on the phone. Oh, there it goes now!
    Anyone experience this?
    cee

It usually does this when you receive a text, voicemail, or email.... but you're saying that after the notification alert when you look at your phone you don't have any text, email, or VM?
Could you be accidentally actuating the ringer switch on the side causing to vibrate momentarily??

  • Random notification on IOS 6

Since i've updated to IOS 6 my phone now buzzes every few minutes.  Nothing shows up in Notifications.  It seems to correspond to emails, I turned email notification off completely and it still buzzes.  Is there a redundant notification option for IOS6 that I am missing?  Please help, very annoying.

There is much more fine grained support for notifications of e-mails now. It's easy to leave the sound on, but turn off the display in the notification center.
Go into Settings>Notifications>Mail and drill down into each account you have set up. Check them carefully... Don't forget totheck the notifications for VIPs if you have any set up.

  • Random notification tone, no notification

I keep hearing the tri tone notification sound but there is no notification, how can I stop this?
I've turned all notifications off apart from a few that I need and none of those have the tri tone tone but I'm still hearing this tone all the time, anyone have any ideas please?

My IPHONE 5 ios 8.1.3 had the same problem. I kept hearing the xylophone ring tone that I had attached to only one of the people in my contact list. So I changed the ring tone of that person and  have not had the problem since. Good luck to all. Hope this helps.

  • Random notificaton sound without a notification, any ideas? I have tried almost everything.

Random notification sound without a notification, any ideas? I have tried almost everything.

Thanks so much for following up, Laura. It's greatly appreciated. Do you have specific notification set up for specific apps such as messages, email, samsung calendar and the ringer? If so, is the notification sound custom to one of these specific apps?

  • Samsung Brightside calendar notification not going away

Why doesn't the calendar notification disappear when there are no scheduled events on my Samsung Brightside?

Thank you for this information, summersrn28. That is definitely very strange. Let's give this a try. I recommend setting up one or two events, and then either waiting for the schedule notification date or time to arrive, or canceling them right away. This can possibly make the random notification go away.

  • IPad making notification sound even though I disabled them all, where is it coming from?

Okay so since updating to iOS7, there is something triggering random notifications on my iPad. It's making a two note notification sound. There's no banner or badge or anything that is associated with it. I went into notification center and have literally turned off every single sound notification (but leaving the sound switch on). The iPad still makes the notification sound.
I was thinking it was coming from the OS itself, but I went and browsed the sounds under Settings->Sounds and couldn't find the one that I'm hearing (although I suppose that doesn't rule anything out).
Any ideas on where it could be coming from?

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini, but I only had the problem on the iPad Mini.  My problem was a little different than yours, but this fix may work for you.
This is what I posted in another thread:
I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE FIX FOR THIS! ... (Well it worked for me on my iPad Mini.)
I saw a post from an apple rep telling a iOS 6 user to turn the side switch on to un-mute the sounds. A no-brainier yes, but it made me wonder if the side switch may have been temporarily "confused" after updating to iOS 7 because it added the new settings screen that swipes up from the bottom of the screen. I was using my side-switch to lock the screen rotation and it was in the "off" (down) position (red visible) and none of my notifications were sounding. So I flipped it up and down a couple times which didn't solve the problem. So logically, I proceeded to what inevitably solved the problem...
Go to Settings > General / "Use Side Switch To" and select the opposite of what you are currently using. I had mine on Lock Rotation, so I selected Mute. Then flip your switch up and down slowly a couple of times to see that the confirmation on the screen is correct.  You may have to go back to settings again and select the other choice if you originally had Mute selected, I don't know because I originally had Lock Rotation in use.
Hopefully, this will fix your notification sounds (and the lock sound when you press the power button).  After using this fix, you can set the use of the side switch to your preference and still have all of your notification sounds!

  • PAvilion dv6, fan not working correctly?

Was on my laptop, it shut down randomly, notification popped up saying fan was not working correctly. Is there a way to fix this? Or will it have to be sent away?

Try a can of compressed air in the reverse direction of the normal air flow. You may just have a massive amount of dust on the inside of the heatsink near the fan blades.
Here is a youtube video and about 15min in you can see the fan clearly:

  • Basso - What the Heck is Going on?

Ever since updating to 10.5.5 I get random notifications with no dialog presented in any application using the "Basso" sound. Since it happens when I am not interacting with the system, I assume it is some sort of network action, but I am running nothing other than Safari or Mail when it happens. My system notification sound is the "Frog". My new mail sound is "Sosumi". This did not happen prior to the update, and I have not installed any other applications. It happens both on my Macbook and my Al iMac.
I have searched and can find no evidence of why this is happening. It's driving me friggin' crazy.
    Any ideas?
    JB

I seem to be having a similar experience. Running Mail in the background and having random "Basso" sounds.
I notice I have "Play Sounds for other mail actions" checked in Mail preferences >General. Perhaps this is the associated sound for a particular random mail event.
    Just a thought

  • IPad 2 3G connectivity issues

I received a replacement iPad 2 3G this week under warranty for a faulty microphone on my original iPad 2.  I have run into many issues since attempting to set up the replacement.  After restoring from a backup I had 103 apps that needed updated through the App Store. (Most likely my fault as I hadn't transferred the purchases or chose to update my apps through iTunes before restoring).  I proceeded to update the apps only to have issues of the apps getting stuck on "installing" so I reset the iPad and decided to set up as new.  The next issue I encountered was iTunes stated that the iPad could not be activated and to try later.  I then tried to activate from the iPad using iCloud only to have the ipAd continually restart and never get activated.  After reading many posts, I took out the SIM card and immediately got activation on the iPad though iTunes.  Most of the problems solved.  One other annoying issue was that before resetting as "new" I was getting a repeated notification saying "this iPhone cannot make or receive calls, restore need.". After the restore I again got this notification but only got it once shortly after activating and haven't seen one since (one full day.) I did get one random notification just a few hours ago saying something along the lines of "fixed dialing calls activated" or something similar.  The main issue is that my iPad will not stay connected to 3G data.  It randomly and repeateldly will drop signal and shows "searching" to "no service" and then back again to showing an active 3G connection.  My previous iPad had a steady 3G connection at the same location so it's not a location issue. The only thing I can think of is that I had 3G activated on my original iPad 2 and moved that SIM card to the new iPad 2 as instructed by Apple and this is somehow affecting the 3G data.
Any ideas would be great.  I'm three hours from the closest Apple store and don't want to have to go through another replacement through Apple if at all possible.
    Thanks!

There's only two 3G cellular companies - AT&T or Verizon, but not both - on the iPad 2. This service is paid monthly & is totally separate from your home phone, cell phone or computer ISP.

  • Droid Maxx- texting and app issues

My Droid Maxx has been giving me hell lately. I haven't received texts in over a month now, even though my inbox is empty and I have full bars. I receive calls just fine. I get random notifications that certain apps aren't working, like messaging and windows live.

I first noticed this issue last Friday, it has been occurring consistently since then. I can send text messages, however I can not receive. Several people have sent messages that never arrive. I have had the phone for on about 3 months. Love this phone, until this issue. Like other posts, I have cleared cache, etc. Tried the Verizon Messaging App and even deleted all of my texting history. I am still getting the pop up. Spent 1.5 hrs on the phone with Verizon level two support on Saturday, still no fix. Clearly, others are experiencing the same problem. Where does Verizon\
    Motorola stand on this issue?

  • IPhone makes a random water drop sound through out the day. All notifications are turned off? Not sure what the cause is.

My iPhone randomly makes a sound like a drop of water into a puddle.  I've turned off all notifications and it till does it.  Any suggestions?

Do you have an app called Life360?
See this thread: My 4s started making this strange sound like a ping/water drop! What is it?

  • Why are my iPhone 5 email notifications randomly at full volume with iOS7.1.1 upgrade, regardless of the volume settings?

Ever since I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.1, my email notification ringtone randomly (but infrequently) plays at full volume instead of the assigned ringer volume setting.  My normal ringer volume is at about 50%, none one of the other notifications such as "new text message" behave this way, and this behavior only occurs once every 2 or 3 days... independent of battery charge level.  There seems to be no pattern to the issue.  I know this sounds crazy, but this did not happen with prior iOS versions on this phone.  Really annoying when I forget to silence the phone before attending meetings and the super-loud notification ringtone goes off...

If that was in any way unclear, it seems somewhat similar to this user's scenario:

  • My iphone sounds an alarm randomly. No notification is displayed. Can you help with preventing this?

My Phone randomly sounds an alarm. It fails to show why the alarm has sounded. can you help please?

This happens to me as well, iPhone 4s purchased in December 2011.
An alarm will randomly sound, at least a few times a week... it's not every day, not at the same time or any consistent time (like always 1/4 past the hour or anything like that).  I can't detect ANY pattern to it whatsoever.  There are no alarms set anywhere... not in the clock, the calendar, or anywhere else.  No notification is given, there is no indication on the phone at all that it happened, I just have to be sitting next to it to hear it.
The sound that is played is always the same - "Bell" from the Alert Tones list.  This has driven me semi-crazy for months, does anyone have the faintest idea what would cause this?

  • Rezound notification/alarm sounds change randomly

Has anybody else noticed these sounds changing randomly?  I had an email arrive one night, and instead of my normal simply beep...it started randomly playing a podcast.  Needless to say, my wife is not amused with my new phone.  This morning, instead of being awoken by my typical song that starts off slow, and slowly builds...it randomly changed to a song that starts off with a loud screeching sound.
Of course, now that I am outside of my return period, my wife is threatening to throw my phone across the room if it wakes her up in the middle of the night with a frightening sound again.  Any thoughts?  I know there are more people with this problem, as I saw it listed as one of the "other widespread" problems on the XDA forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1342600.html).
    Any thoughts?

Are all your notifications tones custom ones?  Are the custom tones saved in the following folder structure?  This is the default folders that I have found that Android defaults to looking in first after the system folders and will automatically add the tones to the proper selections lists.
(Internal or the SD card memory):\media\audio\ringtones
(Internal or the SD card memory):\media\audio\notifications
(Internal or the SD card memory):\media\audio\alarms
I did have a similar issue with my Thunderbolt after a system update.  I was finally able to clear the issue up by clearing all the data in the "HTC Sense" app.  I had to set up all my homescreens, wallpaper, and ringtones all over again.  It was worth the effort since it was wasn't full factory reset.  Of which I was planning to do if the data clearing didn't work.
