Random package corruption

Hello,
I'm trying to install Arch x86_64 with the 2012/08 ISO, but every time I try to install the packages, pacman says some of them are "invalid or corrupt (PGP signature)". If I re-download them, some other random packages become corrupt! I have already tried 3 different mirrors, disabling signature check, even installing it to the live environment (instead of to the hard disk), restarting the modem/router, trying another day, and nothing works.
This is a very odd situation:
The packages seem to download just fine;
ifconfig shows no corrupt or lost packets;
I have another machine with Arch Linux, and it always updates nicely;
I have installed many times the "stress" package in the live environment, and it never became corrupt;
I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago. Only difference is, now I have a fake RAID stripe of 2 disks and a Radeon HD 6970 card, which I'm 99% sure has nothing to do with anything. But then again, computers (also, users) don't really need a logical reason to fuck things up.
So, any suggestions?
ALSO! In the phrase "I had Linux installed in this very machine 2 years ago", is it correct to use "had" or "have had"? Can someone explain me this, please?

Have you checked the disks? (I was also going to mention RAM as I saw something similar a few months ago but if it isn't that, something else hardware?)
"I had a hat with three corners when I was a child." [I don't have that hat now.]
"I have had this bike for several years." [I still have it now.]
"I had no luck installing Arch." [And I've given up trying.]
"I've had no success installing Arch." [But I'm probably still trying or at least considering it.]
"I've had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." makes sense (except for the elves).
"I had no luck getting the elves out of my laptop so far." doesn't really make sense though people would know what you meant (even if they thought you were a bit touched).
If you want a proper grammatical explanation, though, you'll have to ask somebody who learnt English as a second language (or teaches it). I can't tell you _why_!

  • Random package

    Hi All,
under which package can i use to install the random package dbms_random into the schema that every user be able to use??
Cannot find in Oracle ver 8.0.4. Advice greatly apprciated.
    Thanks

I believe the actual statement is (in my own words)
A Class which is in a package cannot access any Class which is not in a package.
Note that another class which is not packaged can access another class which is also not in any package.
So a class in the default package would be severely crippled in terms of re-usability.

  • SPro | SQR APY1060 is randomly generating Corrupted PDF's

    Hi,
We're in the process of implementing SPro FSCM 8.9 on 8.47.11 for one of our clients. While the running the OOB SQR APY1060, we've found that the SQR randomly generates corrupted PDF. When we run the Process again, it works fine...Its is also difficult to replicate in other environments.
Has any body faced an issues like this earlier with any PS delivered SQR.
We've been able to zero in on the culprit - Control-M ... We've noticed a pattern, using the same run control ID, if we run it (PSJob) using the online page, then the PSJob runs absolutely fine. However, when we schedule it through Control-M the corruption happens. Also, if we create separate Process Requests in Control-M to schedule individual processes rather than the OOB PSJob, the SQR runs fine...Not sure if some one has come across such an issue...
    Thank You

I am not sure about this..but do you have different run control for the different OS or the same run control. Unix always recognises CAPS runcontrol values. do a check on that please.

if some body know this problem, please help me to resolve my problem :(

It is due to a connection manager being deleted.
Oftentimes fixable by introducing it back. Sometimes the package even runs successfully even w/o it.
But if you can create a new package anew.

  • Random PDF corruption in received emails

    I am running a setup with 1 Ipad original 64gb, 3G IOS 5.1.1 and 9 Ipad 2's 64gb, 3G IOS 5.1.1
When we issue an email to these devices from Outlook 2010 running on Windows XP / 7 machines containing more than 1 PDF document in the attachments the odds are great that the 2nd attached PDF will be corrupt on at least one of these devices if not more.  This has been ongoing for some time.  I will detail the latest incident for you all to ponder...
An email with 5 attached PDF's was generated on our Windows machines using Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create the PDF's.  This email was then sent out to the mail accounts of the Ipad's hosted on MS Exchange Server 2003.  The Ipads connect to this server via simple SMTP to download the messages.  I am the holder of the Ipad 1 and I could open all but the last two attachments in quick view on the Ipad which told me they were corrupt.  Adobe Reader on my Ipad also would not open the last two attachments.  Neither would PDF Expert.
On the Ipad2's some could open all the attachments, some could not open the same two that I could not open, on others it was only 1 attachment that could not be read but also was not one of the two that I could not read.  Broadcasting the message again using the same recipients and the same message that had already been sent but forwarding it this time, results in me on my Ipad1 being able to read all the attachments.  Some recipients on the Ipad2's could also now open all of the attachments, some could not open any, and still others could now open the ones they could not before, but now the ones they could open in the original broadcast they cannot open in the second which was simply a forward of the original sent message.
If I check my email on my Windows 7 pc using Outlook 2010 I can open and read all the attachments, I also open the same messages from the same account as received on my Macbook Pro using Outlook 2011 for Mac and I can open all attachments just fine.
So....to my logic the problem is not with the mail as it leaves the Exchange server as my Windows pc and my Macbook are getting the same messages from the same mailboxes with the same attachments and all is well.  The problem must be in the Ipad(s) as they receive the message and it is randomly corrupting the attached PDF's.
Is anyone else having this issue?  If so, how have you resolved it?  I have seen many threads on different user sites across the internet outlining this problem with PDF's on the Ipad going back to 2010 with no clear comment from Apple or a resolution.  I'm just hoping I've missed something and someone here can help.
    Thanks.

The problem is likely with the source, not the destination.  If you're not seeing signatures on emails from other people, then they are probably not adding a signature.
If you're seeing a 'distorted' signature with email attachments for the graphics, then either organization may have a policy which prevents HTML emails.  If an email is forced to plain text, it will alter the view that you are seeing.

  • Flash 10.1 Randomly going corrupt

    Hi,
I am a technician with a school district.  This summer most of the computers in our schools were re-imaged with our latest images, which includes flash 10.1.53 Active X.  We are now getting tons of calls from schools reporting that Flash Player is not installed.  The funny thing is, its just happening on random computers (ie: in a lab of 30 computers, only 5 are affected).
When we try to uninstall/re-install Flash with the MSI package, the installer completes but Flash still does not function.  The only way we have found to fix this is to log into each computer and re-install Flash by going to adobe.com and installing via the web site.
    1)  Is this a known issue with 10.1.53?
    2) Is there an easier way to fix each computer?  We use SCCM to push software packages and images, but like I said, the MSI installer does not remedy the issue on the computer.
    3) Are there some things that I could specifically look for on these computers (ie: some sort of log file) that may explain whats happening?
Other info that may be helpful, we are running Windows XP, IE8 and NOD32.  This issue seems to be affecting multiple different images we use.  Our users do not have administrative rights.
    Thanks
    Rosy_55

Sorry, I mistyped in my original post.  The image with 10.1.53 isn't our latest image, its just the one thats currently deployed.  10.1.53 was current when we imaged.
I'm pretty sure (about 95%) we tried using MSI installers for newer versions (10.1.85 and 10.1.102) as well to try and correct the issue, but I will try that again to be sure.  I currently have a couple other work arounds I can do for now.  I can push firefox and flash plugin to the computers. I have also built a new installation of Flash using AppV which seems to work good.  I have rebuilt our images with 10.1.102, hoping that will resolve the issue on anything imaged going forward....but mass imaging is tricky mid school year.
It would be nice to figure out the underlying issue, but if I don't I guess I can use my workarounds for now.
    Thanks again,
    Rosy#55

  • [useless, SOLVED] Pacman shows package corrupted while upgrading

I pacman -Syu'ed my system after a week & there was these error of cyclic dependancy while installing gcc package. So, I issued this command:
    sudo pacman -S gcc gcc-libs gcc-ada gcc-fortran gcc-objc libtool
While instaling, it showed that gcc's package is corrupted.
But, later I tried installing it using
    sudo pacman -U gcc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-libs-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-ada-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-fortran-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-objc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz libtool-2.4
    and it installed correctly.
It seems like local repo had the wrong md5 of the gcc package. How come?

  • Random GFX corruptions - Pls help

Ok guys. Hope you can help me. I have read this board many times for answers but cant see anyone with this exact problem.
I built this rig myself a month ago. It ran fine for 2-3 weeks and then last week whilst playing SWG the screen display went all fuzzy like a testcard. I had to reboot to get it back but the PC had not crashed. Sound etc was still working and I could move around ingame (I just couldn't see what I was doing). This has subsequently happened in DOOM3, windows and even while I was in the BIOS screen! It seens totally random as to when it happens.
I have run PRime95 and memtest and these are fine. I have removed all additional PCI cards and it still does it. I figure it must be either the mobo, the PSU or the GFX. I am praying its not the GFX
I have checked my PSU and its 12V rail is 18amps which I read here is quite low. One thing I have noticed is that in BIOS and in Core Center the 12V reading fluctuates alot between 10.60 and 11.30 ish - never gets near 12V. Clearly this is NOT good and points me to the PSU but I haven't got another to swop and test with. Has anyone else had this display corruption happen? I use a Hercules tft with DVI which worked fine on my ATI 9700 so its not the monitor.

This board doesn not have onboard video.  Therefore, there is nothing to drive the display except your video card.  Some machines will allow you to post and such without a video card installed.  I am not sure about this one, I haven't tried.  If you want to try it, power on, go into BIOS (and assuming your video card cooperates)  change the setting for halting to do not halt on errors. and restart.
However, based on what you are saying, the GFX card is not your problem.  In your signature, you list a tt 420W power supply.  This is known to be weak on the +12V.  This will cause you problems especially with the newer GFX cards like the 6800 Ultra and the 6800 GT.  The trouble you are describing also sounds like the random cutting out due to power supply brown out.  Try getting another power supply with more amps on the +12V.  Search the forum for suggestions.  I understand the new ones from OCZ and Antec are well liked.
    Good luck!

  • Random file corruption with SSHFS, while CIFS is fine

I'm not sure what is happening, but it seems that sometimes, files read from a  sshfs mount come up corrupted. I have checked my filesystem and my RAM for errors on both ends, everything comes up clean.
I'm currently mounting my shares as
    fuse.sshfs noauto,x-systemd.automount,idmap=user,_netdev,identityfile=/home/azure/.ssh/id_rsa,allow_other,default_permissions,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=0,reconnect,cache=yes,kernel_cache,ciphers=arcfour,compression=no 0 0
I tried copying several 300MB files, and different file(s) ends up partially corrupted. Checking the same file repeatedly does not make the checksum change as it usually happens with faulty RAM.
Only hint I have is that apparently it is always a block of exactly 2048 bytes that gets corrupted. It's filled with some data, so it's not getting "lost". My hunch is that either the encoding or decoding with arcfour is the culprit. Small files (~40mb) don't seem to be affected, else I'd get decoding errors/glitches on my music. Mounting the same share as cifs makes the problems disappear. Any ideas what might be causing this?

It just happened again. The file is fine on the other side, but I only see the "cached" state of it on my side. I will try removing "cache=yes" from the mount parameters, but if it's what causing it, then it's some shitty cache if it can't detect the file changed on the other side.
edit: setting "cache=no" seems to have cleared the cache and is showing the updated file content. The question now for me is, is that a bug in ssh, sshfs or dolphin?

  • Random audio corruption after running processes

I have an audio voiceover session I have run hiss reducer on. Everything is fine for a few minutes as I add silence where I need it and bounce out individual files. Then, all of a sudden, everything will become corrupted and full of loud static. I have to close out of the session and re-open it. I am moving between a spreadsheet and audition while I am bouncing files. But I don't see how that could be the problem. Any thoughts? What are my troubleshooting steps?

It does seem to happen when I leave Audition for an extended period of time
(to check email or something) and then come back. For instance, it will
probably be messed up when I go back after finishing this reply. I have to
have the spreadsheet open because it's where the file names are, and it
would be a huge pain and take way too long to hand type all the filenames
into Audition. So, I guess the answer is to limit the amount of time I
spend in other programs while I'm editing a session.
Any idea why this happens or if there is a way to fix it?

Is this a bug? I'll file one if someone can confirm this (It's the first time I really use irb so I don't know its behavior that good).

I am so stupid I was intending to use "ri" and not "irb"... Problem solved

  • Screen randomly gets corrupted

Regardless of what sites I am browsing the screen can get corrupted, including menu bars, download windows, etc. This also includes minimizing Firefox to go do something else in Windows, and all or part of the Firefox screen will pop back up, but will be more like a "ghost image" of it, i.e. mousing over things will reveal what *should* be there, making that part of the Firefox ghost-image disappear. This also happens to a lesser extent with Thunderbird.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Random package question...

    In Netbeans it always says:
"Warning: As of JDK 1.4 it is highly recommended that you do NOT place Java classes in the default package."
I was just wondering why this is.

    S.R.H.
I believe the actual statement is (in my own words)
A Class which is in a package cannot access any Class which is not in a package.
Note that another class which is not packaged can access another class which is also not in any package.
So a class in the default package would be severely crippled in terms of re-usability.

  • XCode 4 package corruption?

I am trying to install XCode 4 from the Mac App Store (MAS?), and it seems to have downloaded fine. But when I go to install it, it says it can't install because there is a .pkg file that is not in the correct format. Any ideas?
    There is 65gb free.

If you can find an MD5 hash of the correct install image and compare to the hash of your downloaded image, you could determine any errors, or just redownload?

  • Random Corruption Message...

I would turn on my MBP (with the iPod connected) and everything with load perfectly; iTunes would open and detect my iPod flawlessly.
However, while my computer would be on randomly a corruption message would come up and my iPod would be disconnected, and ontop of that it would say that I just performed an unsafe removal! Anyways, have any of you ever had this problem? Is there a quick-fix?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Annaliese,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This voice mail feature is a wireless service provider controlled feature, I would suggest contacting them to have this disabled.
    Thanks.
