Random photos show up

I used the photo layout page in iWeb (version 1.1.2)
After adding photos and then publishing, when one clicks on a photo another photo opens.
I have no clue what is going on or how to fix this.
Any ideas?

My first thought would be the camera, media or card reader. Have you tried the same media on another computer?

Turn off PhotoStream.
There are three ways that photos can get into your PhotoStream:
- You take photos with your camera or save photos like email attachment on the iPod
- You are sharing someone else's PhtooStream. Go to Settings>iCloud>PhotoStream>Shared PhotoSteams
- You are adding photos to the folder on your computer that you have associated with PhotoStream.Go to your iCloud control panel on your computer and turn off PhotoStream

Before going into any depth about this have you checked that you aren't simply using the shuffle option in the slideshow settings.

Random Photo's Show Up in Transitions

I have made an iMovie slideshow with the photo album theme, and the transitions that move around the screen occasionally throw in random photos from the project that are not anywhere near the transition, and show only briefly then abruptly switch to the next photo. I have tried deleting the transitions, re-adding them, changing the theme, even tried to edit where the transition pulls photo's from, and the glitch continues.

244 random photos suddenly appeared in the wrong folder

I recently imported 8 photos into Lightroom 5.7 using the "2015-05-25 Folder Name" naming system, and I saw the 8 imported photos in the folder. No problems. However, after reopening Lightroom, the folder with 8 photos suddenly has 252 photos. There are 244 random photos from various years and various other folders which are also inside of my main "Photo Library Lightroom" folder. I had been assigning "key wordis" to photos last week, but I am not sure how that could have taken 246 random photos and "shoved" them into the wrong folder. Do I have to manually "refile" the "misfiled" photos, or is there a magic button to get Lightroom to fix this?

why do my photos show up on my iPad out of order? I have them organized (by numerical sequence in their file name) and they synced up on my iPad in a random order...

On his iPad go to Settings>iCloud>Contacts>Off. When prompted to to keep the contacts on the device or delete them, choose the delete option and all of your contacts will be removed from his iPad.
Make sure that he is no longer signed into your Apple ID in the iCloud settings and the general settings.

Found random photo on iPhone photo stream, not taken by me. How could this happen?

Unfortunately, the photos do not exist in the Camera Roll. The Camera Roll now shows 0 photos total, since I have deleted every photo I've been able to. The mystery photos are located in a folder underneath Camera Roll labled as "Events", but I am unable to delete the folder, and when I go to look at the photos individually, I cannot delete them there either. In the Events folder, I did previously have photos from my Photostream, and I was able to delete those with no problem. It just seems that these photos do not want to be removed.

Eric, thanks for the info about the pictures, it worked. The mail icon is not the one that came with the mac(it looks like a stamp with an eagle) this appears at a notepad with a ruler,paintbrush and pencil. I can not open it, I did not download it and now I can not turn off the computer with shutdown I have to manually turn if off by pressing the power button. This can not be normal. In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album. Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay. This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which I deleted again. if I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

Quick Update:
I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it. As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone. I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments. On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014. As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either. I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available). So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did. I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory. Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
P.S. I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks. There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:

This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug. I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.

Photos show in a different order/sequence when viewed on my Centro than on my desktop???

Hello, I know this may sound trivial but it is driving me nuts! My photos show up in a different sequence when I view them on my handheld (Centro smartphone) than they do on my Palm Desktop Media platform. I cannot figure out why they do not match up. I have HotSync-ed a million times. I sorted all of my photos via the desktop media software so that they are in chronological order. Then I HotSync and view the albums on my phone (Centro) and none of them are in the order they are supposed to be in. (If this helps at all... All of the photos are stored on my microSDHD card, not directly on my phone's memory - too many for that.) Any ideas why the HotSync is not correlating them to the order they are in on my desktop? Am I going to have to manually sort them on my phone also, even though I already did this on the desktop software?? Please tell me there is an easier way - I have LOTS of pictures. LOL! 12:13am *** OH NO!! I am totally going to cry right now. I was trying to get the stupid thing to sync correctly. So, I deleted the picture albums off my phone. I left them on my desktop, since they were organized as they should be. I did a hotsync and it erased the photos from the desktop and didn't put them on my phone. So, basically I lost a million pictures. I double checked my settings and everything is set to "syncronize" - SO WOULDN'T THAT MEAN IT WOULD SYNCRONIZE BOTH???? Not let the phone override the desktop?? I am beyond upset. If anyone can lend some help I cannot tell you how grateful I would be. :*(

Hi.. Syncronize means that hotsync looks at both palm desktop and the device and looks for any changes and moves those changes to the opposite side to make them identical. Thus it saw you deleted all pics on the device and sees it as you no longer need any of the pictures which were deleted thus it makes the palm desktop match the device by deleting them. If you had set the media conduits to desktop over writes handheld it would have done what you wanted. Hope you can find them..

It also occasionally says the following when I try to even open iphoto: "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." So, I am scared to hit "upgrade" for fear I will never recover any of the images as the wording in this quote seems odd. The photos are not in the trash. Did I lose them all? Do you know if/how I can retrieve them?

Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

That occurs when the library has lost the link to the original file. This is a result of a damaged library database file, Library6.iPhoto. You can try rebuilding the library from within iPhoto to see if you can recover the photos by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. However, it's iffy.
You can rebuild the library with iPhoto Library Manager as it create a new library, leaving the original one intact, by reading the AlbumData.xml file and copying what it needs. You will be able to recover the photos, albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, slideshows, and calendars will not be recovered. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. Report back on how long it took and how many photos you have in the library so we can give other users an idea of how long it may take.
It that doesn't work you'll have to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from the old library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Contact Photos Show Up with 10.4.3 Update

I just updated to 10.4.3, and the contact photos show up. Apparently, the software is being updated, and Apple is listening. I'm sure there will be more updates for added functionality.

Congratulations to all you "MAc" users, however, from what I gather, this feature is not supported for Windows users and would have to be addressed in a future release of iTunes for Windows.
Deduction: It's an APPLE iPod, so I guess it has more support for APPLE Mac users than MICROSOFT Windows users.

When I send a photo directly from iPhoto using the Mail app on my iMac, the wrong photo appears on my iPad2 Mail app. However the correct photo shows if I log into gmail on the iPad2. I assume there is a glitch with my "Mail" app on the iPad2.

Update: I was able to have the correct photo show in my email as received on my iPad2 by changing a setting on my IMac prior to sending the photo on the email.
On the iMac, I went into iPhoto > Preferences > Email photos using > Mail (in lieu of "iPhoto"). This seems to have corrected the issue. I'm not sure why. Now the correct photo shows up when received on my iPad2.
