Random pixel errors

I have a PPC Mini connected to a Viewsonic VX922 19" monitor. It was working perfectly. I went on vacation and shut down everything. When I got back and powered back up, the monitor displayed strange errors. The menu bar is sometimes blank, some of the icons on the dock only show up as jagged white shapes, there are random mis-colored pixels all over the desktop, the top left corner of Safari is cut off. There are many other anomalies.
Very strange.
I connected the monitor to my Powerbook and it worked perfectly.
I tried playing with display settings in system preferences and even downloaded a model specific color profile from Viewsonic.
I did a disk repair on the HD using my OSX disk, and when the system was running from the optical start up disk, the display problem was gone. A reboot from the HD brought the problem back.
I also did an extended hardware diagnostic from the Mini start up disk.
The weirdest thing is that the problem developed when the Mini was shut down and unused.

I guess you could try hooking the monitor up to the powerbook and see what it does.
There's a monitor that is used at a place I freelance (23" Apple LCD) and it has shimmering pixels in some places and one pixel wide shimmering lines in others. As best I can tell there it's a problem with the monitor itself.
If you can hook up your powerbook to the monitor and see the artifacts that may mean it's a problem with the monitor.

  • Random Pixel blotches on files processed in ACR?

Recently upgraded to a Canon 5D Markii, and upgraded my ACR to version 5.7.0.213. After some files are processed in ACR and converted to .psd or .jpg, random pixel blotches appear. They are not on the RAW file. Sample can be seen here: http://daydreamsart.com/blotches.jpg I haven't had this problem with my 50D or previous cameras. What could be the problem?

I only shoot RAW not +jpg, but the file is clean SOOC. The problem is very random. I did use the adjustment brush for exposure adjustments on those areas where the blotching showed up after the image went through the image processor and converted to psd or jpg. The blotching was not visible until after being processed. Opening the image directly from ACR also opened with the same blotching. If I re-open the RAW file in ACR and remove the adjustment from the area, the image will open or process without the blotching.

  • CUCM Random disconnect errors

I have a client who is getting random disconnect errors from his cucm servers.  They seem to encompass other network errors at times as well, but not always.  I'm having a hard time telling if its cucm or if it is a network issue in general.
I pulled his core logs and at the time of disconnect messages from RTMT I'm seeing this:

and lots of them, for a few minutes and then it stops.  When I search around for solutions for this I see "contact TAC" repeatedly.  Can anyone help me determine if I have a cm problem or a network problem.  He did reboot the cluster 12 days ago and it didn't stop the problems.  The disconnect errors related to all components of the phone system (cucm, cuc, uccx, cups) and have been anything from "SDL link to remote application is out of service", "OUT-OF-SERVICE AppID : Cisco UP Presence Engine ClusterID", "
The Cisco UP Presence Engine service on the peer node of a subcluster has failed AppID : Cisco Syslog Agent ClusterID", "user 2 ntpRunningStatus.sh: Primary node NTP server, SVUCCX01, is currently inaccessible or down"
So its just like all communication breaks and then comes back again.  I'd like to do as much leanring as possilble with this and not just run to TAC.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Dustin,
Please see the explaination for the error you are getting:-
CCM_CALLMANAGER-CALLMANAGER-1-SDLLinkOOS : SDL link to remote application is out of service  Remote Application IP Address [String] Unique Link ID [String] Local Node ID [UInt] Local Application ID [Enum]Remote Node ID [UInt] Remote Application ID [Enum]
Explanation   This alarm indicates that the local Unified CM has lost communication with the remote Unified CM. This alarm usually indicates that a node has gone out of service (whether intentionally for maintenance or to install a new load for example; or unintentionally due to a service failure or connectivity failure).
Recommended Action   In the Cisco Unified Reporting tool, run a CM Cluster Overview report and check to see if all servers can communicate with the Publisher. Also check for any alarms that might have indicated a CallManager failure and take appropriate action for the indicated failure. If the node was taken out of service intentionally, bring the node back into service.

    CallManager
The most common Lost communication for CallManagers could be Callmanager server hang, network problems or high CPU
You can use RTMT to monitor this.
CM servers keep a TCP connection to other servers in the cluster. When that TCP connection is broken due to network connectivity or lack of server resources, the above error is generated.
Also the sdi traces you have provided won't be useful to analyze the problem but rather please take detailed sdl traces.
If possible then take SDL detailed traces with sniffer filtering TCP port 8002 in order to find out if this is a Network problem or not.
Sometimes due to highly fragmented disk can cause heavy disk I/O utilizing all the CPU.
Was there any upgradation or migration activity was carried out in network?
Please check the server NIC and switch NIC or other NIC have the same speed/duplex settings.

  • Random Pixelated Boxes

I've seen posts describing a similar problem to mine, but never quite the same, so I’ll give a description a try. I've got a G4 iMac flat panel running 10.4.4.
Here's the problem: Every now and then, regardless of the program running, I get these square boxes (about 2in x 2in) that pop up randomly on the screen. They are boxes of random pixels that seem to somehow reflect what is on the screen (colors change as I scroll), but I cannot see what is under them. I can still access any links beneath them, but I cannot see what the link is because the box covers it.
It first happened when I updated to 10.4.3. It was so bad that I decided to go back to 10.4 and just wait for the next update. There was no problem when I went back to 10.4.0 (or 4.1 or whatever). When 10.4.4 came along, I installed and had the same problem. So I tried changing mice (it seemed to be related to scrolling). At the time I was using a Kensington Iridio. Switching back to the pro mouse that came with the iMac seemed to solve the problem. But there's no scroll wheel, so I decided to get the Mighty Mouse. Well, now I’ve got the problem all over again.
I've tried disk First Aid, defragging, restarting--nothing has worked.
So, to sum up: square boxes of pixels seem to pop up randomly; they are not specific to any program (Safari, Firefox, PDFs, iTunes, etc.); they seem to be related to scrolling, although maybe not; if I restart the program after it happens, they boxes are gone; it does not seem to be related to how long the computer has been on. Also, I’ve got a screen shot of it, but I don’t think I can attach it here.
Any ideas? Should I just go back to 10.4.earlierthan3 and call it a day?

Update: I went back to the original pro mouse and it is still happening.
    Tired. So very tired.

  • Late 2013, 27" 3.2GHz iMac random "graphics" errors with Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite I am encountering random "graphics errors".
Sometimes happens with an Apple report, some times without.
In some cases, it causes a logout (not reboot or kernel panic).  After logging
back in the small "graphics error" box is there.
It is always happening at least once during a browsing session in Safari, often
more.  It is also not website dependent as going back and reloading the pages where
the problem occurred will work without the problem.
With Mail, it is even worse.  Simply getting email is not a problem.  It happens
if multiple apps are open and I try to create a Mail message.  This is when
I get the sudden logout situation.  The only way I can compose an email
is to close all other apps.
Memory is NOT an issue as I have 24GB installed.
Anyone having the same issues or clues as to how to fix????
NOTE:  Everything works flawlessly and as it should if I boot into
                 Mavericks.

same problem here screen random glitches while surfing the web with macbook pro retina 13 late 24 model. Just graphic issues *for example i may zoom in  photo on the web and it may appear a random line or glitch) yosemite is really bad

  • Random Communication error in WL 8.1 using DB2

  • Random selectionFailure errors at runtime - SOA 11g

    Hi All
I am getting random selectionFailure errors at runtime.
I have developed a bpel process and when I try to run this, at runtime I get below error randomly at assign activity.
    Non Recoverable System Fault :
    <bpelFault><faultType> <message>0</message></faultType><selectionFailure xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"></selectionFailure></bpelFault>
The same process runs fine sometimes and other times it hits this error. I tried bouncing WLS server but didn’t help.
Also I am trying to use preferences in 11G. I added the preference name to composite.xml and used ora:getPreference and its returning me values. However when I try to use this preference inside xsl code as a parameter ($<paramname>), its not substituting the values.
Are the above 2 issues related and something to do with server setup. Because I double-checked and the code looks ok to me.
Any suggestions will be really helpful.
    Thanks

  • How do I get rid of random pixels that appear?

How do I eliminate random pixels?

Are they dead or stuck pixels?
Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IPad 2 pixel error

    Hi
i bought my iPad 2 10 months ago. For some days I have been identifying a single white dot near the center of the screen. I think it is a pixel error.
Oh and since day 1 there are yellow small "auras" in the edges of the screen, when the background is black.
My iPad fell one time and the back is broken a little (some scratches). Is Apple going to replace my iPad 2 because of the pixel error and these yellow shiny things?

  • Can I reduce video noise in iMovie 11 (a.k.a. random pixels)?

My video has a bunch of random pixels, and can I get rid of them using iMovie or other free software!

In Final Cut Pro X, you can do this automatically through the multicam feature. You can also adjust the audio to the 1/100 of a frame.
In iMovie, you should turn on the wave forms of both the movie track and the Zoom track. You should be able to visually see the spike of the clapper sound. You can manually drag the audio track so it lines up with the video track. In iMovie, you can adjust to the nearest frame (not 1/100 of a frame).

  • Pixel errors and artifacts on 1st generation ATV

After a lot of trouble in the first years I have been pretty happy with my 1st gen ATV. Until recently, when it started to show pixel errors (some white pixels) and some weird flashing artefacts on the user interface. It starts to happen in movies too - some white "static" on perfect HD video files. No problems occur when the picture screensaver is on.
I have already re-installed the firmware from scratch (factory reset and update to 3.02), but the problem persists. I also swapped the HDMI cable, didn't help.
Could it be the old guy is dying?

    Yep, it won;t handle 1080p only 720p 24fps.
You can download 720p to iTunes if you fiddle with download Preferences.

  • Major graphical issues, tearing, random pixels (10.7.2, 5770HD, Dual)

I am having major issues with my Mid 2010 mac pro. ATI Radeon 5770 in dual 22" monitors and I'm getting triangles flashing on the screen, random pixels, tearing, etc.
Here's a video of the problem:
    http://youtu.be/NL6Z3u3fwBY
I'm using (currently) 1 Mini display port to single link DVI to primary, DVI to DVI on secondary.
I've tried 2 mini ports, 2 dvi's and a variety of combinations. Eventually after hours of doing this the mac will sleep, or just during use, go complete grey or blue screen and hard lock.

It can be a driver issue, especially when it happens from scrolling and such.
However: Here's some more information about what I've done.
    1) Reset the SMC/PMC
    2) Moved the ATI card to the other PCIex16 slot, and changed the AUX power plug from B to A
    3) Sometimes it works great for hours, other times...the second I sit down.
This Mac was purchased in June and is in a very clean room, dust is not an issue (it's not even on the card).
AppleCare apparently expired...but I've noticed that I'm not the only one with issues, maybe the only one this severe but apparently there are issues with the 5770 and Lion and MacPro Mid-2010.

  • I seem to have fixed my problem of randomly occuring errors in my filterwheel control. But I don't know why this should actually work.

    Hi there,
I am using a thorlabs fw102B filterwheel. It's connected via USB (simulating COM port, that's what it says in MAX). The second device is a camera, also connected via USB. The application is running 24/7, at least that's what it's supposed to do. LabView version is 8.6.
The LabView code I wrote for this, was never really finished, meaning I totally ignored error handling in the first program version.  That never bothered me, because the program ran for weeks and months without any problem. Whenever I had to reboot my system it was not LabViews fault, but I was changing something else.
Recently I was running into problems with the filterwheel (after a system reboot). However, I don't understand the error in the first place: The filterwheel is supposed to change position every 15 minutes, in between the camera is taking exposures, then the data is written to an ASCII-file (only ~156 kB). At first the error occured just once: the filterwheel was set to the wrong position for about 15 minutes, which might happen, as it is not really could in counting. A few days later it was in that wrong positon for one hour, so it didn't respond to the "move" order four times in a row. Finally I didn't move at all anymore. The error message I was getting is "0xFFFFFFF unkown status code". In my opinion the communcation to the filterwheel got lost somehow. I don't know a better explantion.
But why should it recover after some time?
The problem usually occured at night, when nobody is there to watch.
I investigated the behaviour in a second setup (see attachment). There is only the filterwheel connected. Through randomly unplugging the USB or power cable I was able to reproduce 'session handle is not valid', 'unkown status code' and 'session handle lost'. The program enters the 'true case', the session is to be closed and resetted, then it shall be reinitialized. This actually works as soon as the cables are reconnected. But why?
The close.vi still returns 'session handle is not valid', The reset.vi returns the same, but initialize.vi returns 'No Error' and the system works again.
What am I not getting here?
I read some threads here and somebody mentioned for another instrument/problem to use the 'reset' command twice. So I tried 'close-initialize', 'reset-reset-initialize', 'reset-initialize' but only 'close-reset-initialize' works (not surprising). Yet I still get the same errors (probe 1 and 2). Am I introducing more bugs without knowing than I fixed?
    I AM CONFUSED.

    Hello Ulrich,
thank you for your answer. Concerning the dataflow I agree and it is what I usually do. Actually I follow the dataflow paradigm whenever there is no problem (the 'false case' in the screenshot):
    “FW102x Initialize.vi” -> “FW102x Get Position.vi” -> “FW102x Set Position.vi”.
Whenever there is a mistake, this just doesn't work with these drivers. The sequence
    “FW102x Initialize.vi” -> “FW102x Get Position.vi”  -> ///error/// -> “FW102x Close.vi”, “FW102x Reset.vi”  ;; “FW102x Initialize.vi”
will give me errors for “FW102x Close.vi”, “FW102x Reset.vi”  and “FW102x Initialize.vi” reporting "session handle not valid". However, if I "bypass" the instrument handles directly from the first "Initialize" to "Close" and "Reset", they will report the same error, but the second "Initialize" will work again. I can even merge the first two frames and execute "Close" and "Reset" at the same time to do so. But whenever I try something else, e.g. do the 'correct' wiring, I am unable to close, reset or reinitialize. I have to restart LabView completely, to make the vi work again. So I guess the session is still hanging around somewhere in memory, but I can't access it anymore.
Surprisingly, wherever I put Probes on the data handle wires they show the correct "ASRL5::INSTR" (with or without correct wiring). But only the "Bypass" wire makes the vi work. Since you couldn't find the drivers in the driver network, I guess they might just run into problems, if an error occurs.
But thanks for your comment anyway. The problem is fixed for the moment. It's just that I prefer to actually know what I am doing here instead of producing some code I'd rather not show anyone.

  • Dc7700 Booting randomly // BIOS error

    Hey!
I am having trouble with my dc7700 computer, it has started booting randomly. This occurs, like mentoned, randomly. There is no spesific program that is "crashing" or forcing the computer to boot. It sometimes boots when I am doing nothing on it, only windows running. With booting I mean that the computer "resets" itself and starts to power back on.
I have tried to dust the computer and fans, removed memory and installed back in diffrent order. I am out of solutions, and I need your help!
Also I am having this weird BIOS error message every time the computer is turned on. Should I (like the error message tells me) update the BIOS or Managment engine firmware. If I should, could someone link me the right firmwares?
    Error message:
    System spectifications:
    Processor: Intel Core 2 duo
    Memory: 2GB DDR
    VideoCard: ATI Radeon X550
Hard Drive: 250GB (Don't remember the model, ask if neccessary)
(Please ask if you need more information)
I do not know where to start fixing this booting problem. What should be my next move?
    Best Regards,
    Henkka
PS. I'm sorry if this is wrong forum section, I wasn't  sure where to post...

    Hi:
I would go back and remove all but one memory module.
Test each one individually to see if one of them is intermittently flaky.
If the machine crashes with the one stick, remove that one try the next one and so on.
If the machine stops crashing, you have found a faulty memory module and you can replace it.
Next thing to check if the PC crashes with all memory chips tested individually would be to carefully inspect the motherboard for bulging, or leaking capacitors (the can shaped objects on the motherboard).  Bad caps will emit gasses that cause the top of the can to swell and bulge.
Bad capacitors will cause intermittent freezes, crashes, random reboots, all kinds of nasty things.
Firmware error.  That one I don't know.
There is only one ME firmware update and I suggest you carefully read the instructions!

  • Randomly occurring error while starting MDB transaction

We have been seeing a strange intermittent problem with MDBs in a clustered WLS 9.1 environment. Our cluster consists of two managed servers, each of which runs on a separate Windows machine, and our application is targeted to both. We use container managed transactions. From time to time, one of the MDBs on the second managed server runs into a problem where it is unable to start a transaction, and the message is automatically transferred to the appropriate JMS error destination before the logic within the onMessage method is even invoked. This results in a situation where our app logs have no record that the message was ever received, so we continually have to go out to the error destinations to see if there are any messages. This problem does not appear to follow any pattern, and occurs randomly with pretty much all of our MDBs on the second server. The stack trace from the log is below. Any help in tracking down the cause of this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sabrina

Did you ever get a solution to this problem?
We are seeing the same thing on WebLogic 9.1. It started happening in the past week.
We have the same originating error ..
    java.lang.ClassCastException: weblogic.rjvm.ClassTableEntry
    Many thanks,
