Random playlists

So as you all know walkman can't create playlists by folder so I used a 3rd party app to do it. However I was still not able to do it so walkman could recognise it. In the end however I created the wanted playlists but a new problem appeared. Here's the screenshot from my Z2:
Can someone actually tell me how I can find and delete these random 03344640-1c69 etc etc playlists. Where are they located? I tried using Clean Master app to clean junk but it didn't help. Any apps or other things out there that could help me here?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

First I tried creating playlists using My Playlist Maker and selected SDcard folder. The app itself told the playlists were successfully created but I didn't see them to appear. Then I tried doing it again and again the same. Now as you mention that 3rd party apps can't write to SD maybe that's why I was not able to create the playlists.
Later, I connected my phone with USB and created playlists with Playlist Creator on PC and put them on SDcard. I was able to create all the playlists I need but at the same time on Walkman app those random numbered playlists also appeared. So now I don't know if this is related to My Playlist Maker or Playlist Creator or none at all. However I can see that those random playlists are on internal memory as I tried to remove SDcard and my created playlists disappeared on walkman but the random ones stayed.

  • Random Playlists (like Party Shuffle)?

I'm wondering if there's a way to create a playlist that re-randomizes everytime I connect my iPod Touch.
I know that the shuffle can randomly select music, but is there a way to do this with a regular iPod?
I have a big library, and would just like to have my iPod touch randomly grab 16GB of music every time I connect, so that I don't have to constantly create new playlists.
The only workaround I can find is to create a new 16GB smart playlist each time, but it would be nice if I could just "refresh" an existing one...
Thanks in advance for your help!

If the random playlist is set up correctly you don't need to create a new one each time. When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. If you do this periodically you can refresh the iPod with a new selection any time you like. For example:
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "16" in the number box, choose "GB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"

  • Random Playlist Creator

Until I installed OSX 10.9 I'd used the program (noted above) for getting playlists created as easily as possible. Now I keep getting a note that says:
"You can't open the application "Random Playlist Creator.app" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
Is there any way to correct this problem?
    Thanks.

Not unless the developer has updated the program  or you want to run Snow Leopard Server in a virtual machine.  Apple stopped supporting PowerPC applications in 10.7.

  • Creating random playlists for massive mp3 databa

Hi. First post here. I've given up my quest to contain 00% of my music on an mp3 player. The only one on the market that will fit all of it is the "new" iPod Classic 60GB. I don't really care for the Apple marketing machine nor the $350 price tag. I already own a Zen Xtra 40GB and have been pretty happy with it. All of my music has been digitized and li'ves on an external dri've, with a mirrored backup. Is there any way to have the MediaSource or Notmad application (which I haven't seen - just read about it today) generate a random playlist of xxGB, which can then be loaded onto the Zen? I'm not talking about a playlist file that pulls from existing files on the mp3 player, but an actual block of mp3 files randomly culled from my external dri've and then transferred to the emptied Zen Xtra?

I can't answer your software question, but I do want you to know that it's possible to upgrade your Zen Xtra with a larger hard dri've.
I did it and am quite happy with the results. My player now as a 00GB hard dri've in it.
Here's the post where I refer to what I did. Upgrading Zen Xtra Hard Dri've

  • Randomized Playlist Controls and UI

The new Music App UI is coming off as very confusing and unintuitive to me.  One of the features I like to use is the random playlist.  It's role seems to have been diminished in the new UI.  In the previous version I could select a playlist and start it randomly by hitting the "Play All" button.  That button seems to now be gone and if i want to start a new playlist I have to manually select a song to start off the playlist.  This also comes into play when there are more then one album for an artist.  It seems I am no longer able to randomly play all songs from a specific artists.  If I tap on a song it will only play songs from that album.  What am I missing here because this seems like a total step backwards to me.  o.O
Also, while I'm here, why was the very iTunes like interface replaced with a mishmosh of UI styles and control doodads?  For example the scrub knob was replaced with a very unituitive red line which doesn't really look like it's meant to be used to scrub through the track, yet the volume knob remains?

  • Is there a way to create a dynamic random playlist?

I am upgrading (downgrading?) from a 60gb 5G iPod to a Touch. Since the Touch has less space on it than my former iPod, I would like to know if there is a way to have it filled with different random songs each time it is docked.
I know how to create a playlist that consists of random songs, but I want this list to change periodically, so that I have a different variety of songs available on the Touch.
Is there a way to do this?

You need to make sure that the smart playlist has a criterion that will vary with time, such as Playcount is not 0, or Last played is not within the last x days". You also need to make sure that live updating is checked.
You may need to play around with it a little to get the mix you like.

  • Automator Help: Create simple workflow to automate opening random playlist?

I'm fairly inexperienced with Automator. I've figured out how to create some workflows by having it record my actions but this is somewhat limiting. I'm hoping to accomplish something slightly more complex and I've been unable to find an existing thread on this (I may be searching for the wrong terms).
I'm hoping someone here can help me to create an Automator workflow that will:
1.) At a specific time on a specific day of the week (i.e. every Wednesday at 4pm)
2.) Open a randomly selected file from a specified folder (i.e. go to folder "Playlists" and pick one of the 15 .m3u playlists available at random and open it).
Is this possible with Automator? I've read other posts that seem to suggest something like this is possible but I'm having trouble finding the right building blocks in Automator to make it happen. I'm hoping it's fairly simple because I certainly don't want to ask too much of anyone here. Any help would be greatly appreciated but please don't go out of your way if this is a complex or demanding request.
My goal is to create a virtual TV channel of sorts. I'd create specialized playlists (i.e. Wednesdays might be sitcom night whereas Thursdays are Sci-Fi night) and my Mac Mini would automatically open one of the multiple "sitcom" playlists (at random) every Wednesday just before I would get home. I love my Mac Mini and Front Row (and Boxee as of late) but sometimes I would like for my computer to be automated so it feels more like a regular TV channel (but one with programming I'm guaranteed to like).
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your time and input.

Do you want to randomly select the playlists, or the items within a particular playlist, or both? Making an iCal alarm plug-in with something like the following will play a random item in the specified playlist:
    1) Get Specified iTunes Items {add your playlist}
    2) Play iTunes Playlist {select shuffle}

  • Random Playlist Sort Order desired

I see someone else asked this and got no answer. I mustg ask anywsay.
I have a large Playlist of tunes I've purchased thru the iTunes store;. I want to put them on a CD ... well, actually, I did ... but they are in an alphabetical order.
For whatever reasons, this gripes me. I want the songs laid down in a random order, just like when they play here on the Mac. Randomly !!
How do I "Sort" that way so the Playl;istg will burn the CD that way?
Thanks a lot for the help.

really good ... that got me to revisit "how" I have the slider set on preferences for the, if you will, "randomness" of the shuffle.
By moving slider to right, towards "unlikely", I now see that each time I toggle "Shuffle" back to "on", that the order of the playlist is really different, noticeably.
Note, the slider was,in center, "Random"
So that about does it, thanks for really making my mind do some extra work. Meaning, your answers were good as they made me investigate more and in the correct direction where I hadn't before.

  • Random playlist syncing & iPod starting up unprompted

Since upgrading to iTunes 9 &/or OS3.1 I have found that my playlists sync in a random order. The playlists I want to sync are done however each track within the playlist is in a random order?
Also I have noticed that the iPod will start up without me prompting it to?
I have done a restore but it hasn't fixed the issue.
Is this a bug that anyone else is getting? Any ideas how I resolve them. They are not the worst problems to have but are mildly annoying.

I'm in the same boat! Recently, I found that my recently played playlist isn't in the proper order like before. I've had this problem for about two days now, quite a while after upgrading to 3.01, I have no idea what is wrong. I actually found that 3.01 was making my phone run much smoother and faster, then this happened.

  • Skipping back- and forward through random Playlist

    Hi,
when I skip back to the previous song in a random playing playlist, I don't get the previous song but a random one. My IPod touch plays the previous song as expected (OS 2.x).
I miss this feature, 'cause I used it to hear unrated songs. Then, after hearing 5 to 10 songs, I skipped back and rated the songs. Afterwards I skipped forward and continued hearing the next unrated song.
Is it somehow possible to do this with the IPhone too? Scoring the songs just in time when you hear them, is very uncomfortable.
    Stephan

Maybe I explained it bad. I'll try again.
    IPod-Touch (OS 2.2):
Playing a playlist with shuffle mode on. Pressing "Skip Back" -> you hear the previous heared song. You can repeat this as often as you want.
    IPhone 3G S:
Playing a playlist with shuffle mode on. Pressing "Skip Back" -> you hear a random song (and that ist bu&%§*T).
I prefer the IPod behaviour. So I can hear 10 songs in shuffle mode, then I skip backwards through this songs and rate them. Finally I skip forward 10 times and I can continue hearing the next music block. The IPhone "Skip Back" is absolutely useless in shuffe mode!

  • How to creates a "fixed" random playlist?

I want to create playlists with songs in a random order. I want to listen to all the songs in that  order before listening them again.
If I use the "Randomize" feature, the list will always reset and start anew in a new order when I listen to something else and get back to the playlist. I dont want to re-listen the same songs, I want to continue where I left.
If I use the "Randomize" feature,  when I switch from my iPhone to my work's computer, from my work's computer to my home computer, and back to my iPhone, it will always reset the list and start anew. I dont want to re-listen the same songs, I want to continue where I left.
It was so easy to do before iTunes 11, but now that the songs remains in their initial order in the list when using "Random", im at a lost. How can I do that?

right click the playlist and select burn to disc from the drop box.  it then will give you burning options:  cd, mp3, etc.
This is much faster and easier than going through the menu options.  I don't know when they added this, but it's a welcomed change.

  • Automatic Random Playlist Regeneration for Video Playlist

I've got a smart playlist on my iTunes which contains 2 GB of random video clips from my library. The playlist is set up great, but what I want to do is to have the list regenerate every time the iPod syncs. Right now, the only way t get a new random list of videos is to delete all of the items from the list.
Is it possible to make iTunes regenerate this list when I sync my iPod? If not, how do I submit this as a feature request for future versions of iTunes?
    Thanks!
    Gabe

I don't think so. The playlists (for all i know from my expereinces) are configured so either videos or music, it just plays one after the other. so yes, you can create playlists and it will automatically continue after one another
important note: for this to take in affect, you have to choose your videos in the playlist, not through the video library (where all your movies are shown. Music videos and TV shows are in seperate lilbaries in ur ipod. )

  • Refreshing random playlists

So this is probably a really easy question, I just don't have the time to look for the answer.
I just set up a top rated playlist for my iPhone, that I limited to 2.5 GB. Does this refresh automatically? How can I refresh it if not? The reason I did this is to rotate top rated songs through the iPhone so it isn't loaded down.
    Thanks,
    Ian

You do know that sort of statement is rather rude, don't you? Basically it implies "my time is much too important to look something up I want, but all of your time is not, so do it for me." Perhaps next time you leave off the part where you are a selfish lazy SOB. Anyway...

Did you check the "Live Updating" button in your SPL?
But also, even if you do check it, the playlist may not refresh if none of the songs in it have changed status (e.g. are still top rated). So in that case you might want to add the rule limit it to Least Recently played instead of highest rated, then above add the rule to only populate with 5-star tracks.

  • "Playlists no longer exsist" message in iTunes when syncing my iPod Mini

Whenever I plug my mini into my itunes the error message: "songs cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
I've tried restoring and reinstalling the software but it doesn't seem to be working. What's going on?

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Mini. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Songs Can't be Synced Because Playlists No Longer Exist?

Color me kind of stupid, but could you tell me why all music has disappeared from my Nano (second) and iTunes tells me, after I've connected, "Songs on the iPod "My Name's iPod" cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for synching no longer exist." What did I do? How do I fix it? My more than 1,000 songs remain listed in iTunes, and I am able to get my little Shuffle going just fine, but the Nano is empty. Please help! Thanks so much!
