Random Reboot during Remote Session 1074

I was having issues and had to RDP into one of our servers. During the chaos I grabbed my laptop and ran out onto the production floor while my PC was still connected to the server. I eventually resolved the issue an hour later but for some reason I get
a call from my manager saying the server was rebooted. I checked the logs and winlogon.exe initiated a restart then three seconds later explorer.exe initiated a restart. Both Event ID's are 1074. Not sure what caused the restart but I know I didn't hit restart.
If I would have I would have stopped as soon as it asked for a reason. Any way to find out what could have caused it. The reboot happened under the local account I was logged into at the time. I'm not going to get in trouble over this but would like to be
able to show what actually happened. I don't want my team thinking I would just reboot a server for no reason.

Hi Joseph,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
In your case, it might happens that domain\admin account which is causing the restart of server. You can try to reset\change the password and then check that whether still facing the same issue.
Please go through beneath thread for information.

• Random Reboot During Gameplay

My comp randomly reboots during gameplay. I haven't figured out y and was hoping someone might have some helpful information.
System Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
512 MB Samsung DDR 3200
DVD ROM
CD Burner
GeforceFX 5600
Sound Blaster Audigy LS
Klipsch 5.1 Pro Media Ultra
Nforce 2 MSI K7N2G-L MOBO
onboard lan card
XP Pro SP1
All drivers have been updated to the latest versions, and i have run memtest and everything has passed, my PSU is 400W and everything looks to be in order. Only problem is my comp reboots randomly during gameplay. If anyone has any idea how to fix this problem i would appreciate it.

If you cant find a reference to a specific driver, I would at least try to repair the current installation. I dont see where you would have anything to lose, as you are ready to reformat.
Did you ever run the driver cleaner program?
Here's the steps to automatically repair the current version:
Disable any antivirus program and BIOS-level antivirus protection. For help, refer to the relevant software manual or online help.
Make sure that the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is the first priority startup device. Refer to your computer documentation for information about how to do this.
Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
When the instruction to "Press any key to boot from CD" appears, press a key to let your computer start from the Windows XP CD.
When the computer starts from the CD, the system checks your hardware and then prompts you to select one of the following options:
To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
Press ENTER.
Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
A box lists your current Windows XP installation, and then the system prompts you to select one of the following options:
To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.
To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press ESC.
Press R to start the automatic repair process. After repairing Windows XP, you may need to reactivate Windows XP, if you changed some hardware.

• IPhone 4 - Ios5.1 randomly reboots during use

Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is the right area, but based on the tests I have done, I'm guessing this could be a hardware issue.
Ok so basically, I have owned this phone since new, it's never been Jailbroken and the only "modification" that has ever been done is I've had the back glass replaced with a custom one I had made up.
The last 3 months or so, the phone during standard use tends to just reboot, the screen goes black, I get the little spinny wheel then it will either turn back onto the lock screen and behave, or it will continually do this.
I've also noticed that if it does automatically go back to the lock screen, some apps do not re-open, even after they have been closed properly from the home bar, they open then just close almost instantly which forces me to reboot the phone.
The worst case scenario is I have to do a full reboot - hold down home and power buttons till the screen goes black, then turn it back on, this can take upto 10 minutes sometimes which in my experiance is rather long..
Has any one else encountered this, or know of a possible solution?
The phone is outside of warranty, I'd rather not go and buy a new one if I can help it until Apple announce the launch of the next iPhone..
Thanks in Advance
Ry

Ok I've also done a full restore using iTunes, and then restoring from back up and the problem re-occoured... so then went and did another restore and set the phone up as "new"... 10 mins in, reboots 3 times.
Just incase anyone says to reload the software, already done, no success. If anything, it's now worse :-/

Here is my setup:
MSI 975x PUE
Core 2 Duo E6300
2GB Gskill 800mhz DDR2
X1900XTX (PCI-e)
300GB HDD
Xfi Fatality
Windows XP And Vista
My system seems to reboot randomly when playing games. No warning, No errors, just straight reboot. It could be 5 mins into the game or 45mins into the game. I have tried formatting and reinstalling windows XP Pro, I also tried installing Windows Vista Ultimate, I made sure the voltage in the BIOS is setup correctly for the memory, I run memtest86 for almost 24 hours with no errors, I run Windows MemTest for about 20 hours with no errors, I run PRIME2004 for about 9 hours with no errors, I tried different RAM, I bought a new hard drive, I replaced the Power supply with a brand new Antec 650 watt. I updated the BIOS. There are games which I have played for a few hours with no reboot, Diablo 2, Neverwinter Nights 1, Quake 3, Counter Strike Source. Games that reboot the system all the time are Command and Conquer 3, World of warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online Beta, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and Neverwinter nights 2. I have also tried installing Ubuntu, and the install goes fine, but I cannot install the video drivers, and I get a PCI error every time I boot up, the error is too quick for me to take a note of.

rma the orig gskill, corsair has always worked for me, kingston hyperX should work also, or just read through the forums for what is working for others, cheaper is not always better, it appears the 975 is picky about ram.
That would lead me to believe the MB is defective then, not the RAM. If the MB is fussy about RAM why would the onus be on the RAM manufacturer to replace the RAM until something works instead of the MB manufacturer, who is the source of the problem, to properly design their MB?
FYI I'm also having issues with my 975x PUE where it won't boot with neither my very high quality OCZ RAM nor with just basic Crucial RAM. They've RMA'd my first board and the new one fixed my original problem (wouldn't even initialize POST) only to give me different problems. MSI royally screwed-up with that board and I hope they find a solution quick because I'm not very enthusiastic about being beta tester for hardware I pay hundreds of dollars for.

Any help is GREEEEEEEEEEATLY appreciated.

Jeez, i know just what you mean.
I play...er, try to play World of Warcraft. Every 30 minutes or so, i'd get a game crash and a WoW Error Message. The message read, "memory error" which I later learned from their forums was referred to as "memory dump". I figured Blizzard rushed the game out and left some flaws behind in the process. Then the crashes became more and more frequent until the game finally became pretty much unplayable. i then decided to download Microsoft's Memory tester.
About half of all my passes resulted in an error on the LRAND test. Which is bad. I thought, "crap, i must've gotten bad memory" I tested them both individually and found that i could minimize the errors by putting one memory stick in one slot and the other in another slot. It was passable with crashes every 20 minutes or so. However, recently its been getting worse and is near unplayable.
My Friend brought his PC (a bargain basement eMachine) to my house yesterday and I decided to mem test my Corsair memory on his PC. Sure enough 10 passes, with 0 errors. So I ran the larger memory, the 1024s...again 0 errors. I ran his memory for fun 0 errors. Switched PCs. Ran the mem test on HIS memory in MY pc, 5 errors. My Corsairs in my pc, 3 errors. My 1024 in my pc, 7 errors.
I treat my PC properly, I keep the temeratures in check, keep current drivers, buy the best equipment i can afford on my budget, and when i work on it...I always make sure there is no charge in the power supply left over and I make sure and use my anti-static wristband. The problem, it would seem, is the PT880 just isn't memory friendly.

• Random reboots during phone calls after upgrading to OS4

My 3GS is rebooting without warning in the middle of calls after the upgrade - never did this before. This has happened at least five times today without any pattern: one 50-minute call was fine but other shorter ones have been cut off without warning. Battery is fine. It's been doing this ever since I upgraded last week.
Also I have noticed the whole phone has slowed down dramatically, presumably due to multitasking loading up the CPU?

Try doing a restore.

• Mid 2012 MacBook Air Troubles (Random Reboots & No Camera)

Hello, I'm hoping somebody can help me out. I have a mid 2012 Apple MacBook air that I am having problems with. Ever since I bought this laptop from my friend, it has randomly rebooted during sleep mode, and the FaceTime camera has not worked. I was told that water has been spilled on it at one point, but I have went over the entire computer and do not see any sort of damage. Because I was not having any luck getting it to quit the rebooting, and because the camera would not work, I purchased a replacement motherboard and battery.
The new parts arrived today, and I quickly installed them. I was instantly having the same exact problems. The computer will still reboot when I close the lid to put it in sleep mode. It instantly starts rebooting after about 2 to 3 minutes. And it will continue to reboot over and over until I reopen the lid. In addition the camera is still not detected, and I have double checked under the system properties that it is not showing up under the USB tab. I have cleared the PRAM & SMC, still no changes. As a last ditch effort, I decided to reinstall OSX 10.9 Mavericks as a fresh install. No go...
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to get this thing running properly? I bought it because I wanted to use it for some home-video editing, and in its current condition I don't feel that it is trustworthy. The only things left that I can replace, would be the display or the thunderbolt daughterboard. I already previously had replaced the SSD with a larger 256 GB, and I tried swapping out the wifi card as well. I'm banging my head against the wall here, and really want to be able to use this computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unless you get the answer you need here, I would contact Apple MacBook Air Support or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

I've notice my I phone randomly reboots during daily use.

I am getting this also. I've removed several applications, espcially GPS based ones and i'm tried just sticking to the well know applications. The phone of occasion will freeze (requiring a forced reboot) and othertimes just rebooting itself (shows white apple logo). Had the phone since launch (now 7 days) and it's crashed 12+ times.

Hi Tobi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
For a workaround, please try to perform the two steps.
1. Do NOT enable RDP 8 on the Windows 7 SP1 VM. You should install RDP 8 and update the ICs though.
2. Change the connection setting on the client from "Automatically detect" to "LAN"
Please check again below thread for information.

• Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server software during a terminal service remote session.

Hello
I have been trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto a Server 2003 Terminal Services server. We have an OVS license and I have followed all the procedures (and variations) noted in
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff506201.aspx . However, we still get the error message 'Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server software
during a terminal service remote session.' when users logon via an RDP session. If they logon locally, the applications start without problem. I have tried the manual and .msp setup, installed via the 'Add\Remove Programs, install using the command line with
'Change User /install' and then 'Change User /execute'. None of this stops the message and allows the users to use Office via TS.
Is there a step missing from the Technet site that I need to get the users working?
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
Thank you

This has not fixed my issue. I still get the message "Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server software during a terminal service remote session". If I add the user into the local admins group. When I login as the
user in question or any user onto the server in question the message above appears.
When I run Lync from the shortcut on the remote drive it works. But when I run it from the desktop and start menu it displays the above error. I spoke to Ctrix who have said that it is a permissions issue. I have checked and all permissions seem to be the
same.
Please can you help?
Kind Regards, PenDraKon

• Yosemite random reboots on macbook mid 2012

Well I've read thoroughly all the posts related to this kind of issue and it seems it affects a wide range of devices. Either mac minis or 2011 macbooks and so on.
I would like to explain my experience and ask for any advice available. I am experienced with computers and OS's, even though I would not call myself an expert, but as an engineer I possess a certain amount of knowledge. So there it goes.
TL;DR at the bottom
Macbook pro mid 2012 13". Default 4gb memory installed, I added a Samsung EVO 830 SSD in 2012 when I bought it, never had any problems with it.
After a couple of weeks after upgrading to yosemite (november '14) I started noticing the macbook resting on login screen after a reboot. No crash report, no message visible of any reason. As I was installing some special software to do some work related to a lab I was working at the time, I thought it was software related. MS Word and Excel often crashed and I had a couple of problems with other programs. Then it started doing it while I was working, so I decided to check things out. The system freezed for some seconds - 1-2 minutes and proceeded to reboot. Sometimes a hard reset had to be performed.
I decided to perform different installations with different options in order to identify the problem:
Reinstall Yosemite from recovery mode: same result, random reboot, no specific app in use, either Xcode, Safari, or just resting idle with just finder.
Format disk and install yosemite applying time machine backup: same result, random reboot, no specific app, and so on.
Format disk and clean install, manually installing the same main software installed previously: same result, random freezes and reboots.
Format disk and clean install, manually installing essential apps (mac app store only): same result, exactly the same result.
Always with the latest OS version available, and with TRIM enabled and disabled, to discard issues with it. PRAM and SMC resets all along.
During all the testing, the console has not shown any crash report or kernel panic related to the event. After every reboot, console would not show anything special before the boot_time line.
After looking for solutions on different forums, I noticed a pattern on some cases that implied a wake on lan or a handoff, or wifi issue. I tested on different networks, disabled and enabled all options commented, with no effect.
Entering
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CSeq 'n Cause: -' | tail | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}'
on terminal 90% of the time returned errors -128, and some -112 or -2, but they would not be logged to every freeze, just some of them. By the time the
As they may indicate a hardware error, I decided to proceed with the warranty.I bought the Applecare extension when I bought the computer (expiring this summer) so I talked to Applecare about the issue. As there is not an official Apple Store in my town they pointed me to an ASP in my city. They noted all the issues I commented above, gave me a case number to deliver to the ASP so they would have all the information.
I brought the computer to the ASP, gave them the case number (which they totally ignored, the employee seemed oblivious to what a "case number" was) and expected them to find the error. As I noticed the freeze could be sometimes forced via waking up the laptop, I made them a demo. I had ran already the apple hardware test and any hardware tests I was aware of. Etrecheck came out without issues or anything worth mentioning, so I thought they might have specific apple tools to identify hardware error.
They told me they could not find any error on the computer, but that they found errors in the SSD, swapped it with one of theirs to test and no issues found. Good, I thought, at least they found the issue even though all tests run on the SSD by me did not show any trace of it. They charged me 25€ for the service as the SSD was not part of the original computer. As I had been experiencing issues for some time I did not care. I asked them for some kind of report to check the error to provide to the SSD manufacturer, Samsung, as they offer 3-year warranty on SSD's and it had not yet expired. The report said "errors in disk", plain and simple, I asked to talk to the technician for extra info, but he could not remember if it was "corrupted sectors" or something else.
Contacted Samsung, sent my SSD in, and in 4 days I had a new (refurb maybe) SSD same model same size at my door. During those 4 days I reinstalled my old original HDD. As it had a few miles on it (using it as external disk) it was really slow and sometimes it would freeze but the whole system was always dragging, so it could be also failing. Worth mentioning that when swapping disks I noticed the ASP had messed up the position of the small screws on the back of the computer. They did not seem to know there are 4 shouldered screws and 3 regular ones.
I put the new or refurb SSD in, clean install and do some testings. First day everything ok. Proceed to install software. Seems ok. After a couple of days the first freeze and reboot appears. After a couple of PRAM and SMC zaps, events seem to be reduced to a minimum. Even though the system is not completely stable, and I am not quite satisfied with the uncertainty of the freezes (in the middle of a presentation is not the best moment to have one), as it's freezing 1-3 times per week I consider it reasonable.
Time goes on, freezes start to appear again. Sometimes while booting, sometimes on login screen, sometimes on heavy usage sometimes on idle. I still follow all threads related to similar issues, in case a fix appears. All sleep / wake / wifi on - off on sleep tests have been performed.
Now the issue seems to be reduced to two kind of events: random freezes and reboots, and errors while booting. None, and I mean zero of the reboots or freezes has ever had a .crash or any system diagnostic reports related to the hour or even date when the freezes took place. EVER.
While booting, it crashes and I have to hard reset 2-3 times. When freezing, 30% of the time it does not reboot, and gets warmer than idle state but cooler than under heavy load.
I usually zap pram and smc and then it boots normally. But I should not have to be doing that every time I turn it on.
I know its a long post, but it's something I have been following for 5 months now. It's not that I am unaware of different options to solve it. Zapping seems to be the way to go, but still the random freezes interrupt workflow and provoke loss of data.
TL;DR: same freeze and reboots as other people. No discrete GPU to relate it to. Default memory installed, SSD model working on 10.8 and 10.9 with zero issues. All software installation combinations tested. ZERO crash reports on console related to the hour or date of the events. Shutdown causes negative codes, ASP cannot find the issue.
Considering bringing it to Genius Bar, but undermines the purpose of a ASP and if they got the same tools they will not find the issue either.
Appelcare expires in June. Any options I am unaware of? I would relate it to the specific model of SSD under Yosemite if I was the only one experiencing freezes and reboots, which I am not.
Thanks you

Boot into Safe Mode. If the problem ceases then you need to remove Virtual Box and the software that installed com.bluecoat.kext.bckd 4.4.1f20. If this does not fix the problem then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

• Early 2011 MBP 13 random reboots (no Kernel Panic logged)

Hi,
Problem Description:
My MacBook Pro randomly reboots at least 1-2 times a day. I cannot find a kernel log because each restart is a double one.
Let me explain the problem further : 1. Im doing something (nothing specific..no specific app) on the mac 2. The screen freezes and becomes unresponsive ( I know a reboot is coming)
3. I get the gray screen which says "Your computer restarted because of a problem..." ...this is followed by the white screen with the apple sign..it loads for a few seconds and it reboots AGAIN..this time i hear the chime...loads into the OS normally ...works until i either shut it down / put it to sleep / another random restart (varies from 1 hour to 6 hours )
Things I've tried :
SMC / PRAM reset
Erase Drive and TimeMachine Restore
Apple Hardware Tests / Diagnostics all pass
Verify / Repair permissions / disk (did this a million times)
Reindexed Spotlight
Erased Drive and did a clean install and MIGRATED files from TimeMachine
Safe Mode ( THIS did not have random reboots...also fyi ..i didn't try this for long)
Logs Data:
Since I don't have the .panic files. I am pasting a chunk of the log before and after the PROBLEM.
