Random reset of ringtone volume since update to 2.0
Since updating to 2.0 my ringtone volume level, which I keep on the hightest level, will randomly reset to mid-level, causing me to miss a number of calls. Anyone else notice this and is there a solution?
Thanks
My 1st gen iphone (16GB) is up to the same antics. Pre 2.0 all was perfect. Then then update... During calls, if you adjust the volume for either the iphone earpiece, speaker phone, or bluetooth headset (I'm using the Plantronics voyager 520, which was purchased at the apple store), the ringer volume gets adjusted as well.
Just go into the sounds option under settings, make a call, and watch in awe as you adjust your call volume and ringer volume at the same time.
I've missed calls b/c the volume resets it self to a lower (random) setting. Now I must check after every call. The best part is if you push up on your volume button while at the home screen (the ringer volume pop up appears) and note that you have it on the highest setting, go ahead and check the sound option under settings. It will be at some random lower level. Oh my phone never did this on 1.4. I do hope the engineers are reading this and release a fix ASAP. The main purpose of the iPhone is to be a phone. Missing calls due to a low ringer volume is crazy.
Oh, I've already restored, don't bother, problem was not resolved. I haven't come across any other problems with the 2.0 update.

Ringtone changed since update. Can't get it back.
I bought a ringtone, and it's still titled as the song. However it's a standard ringtone since the update. I have chosen and unchosen the tone to listen to it, but it's still not my purchased ringtone. How do I get it back?
Wow do I feel like an idiot. Three years with this Mac and I never even noticed that button existed. Must have hit it by mistake last month. Thanks!

Systemd randomly resetting master ALSA volume [SOLVED]
Occasionally the master volume is reset back to 34% from where it was before the last shutdown (100%). I'm pretty sure it's related to alsa-store.service but I have no idea where the actual problem is and it's driving me insane. I'm not using PulseAudio either.
Last edited by speeddefrost (2015-02-15 00:13:17)I think there are two problems in your case:
1) you don't have the right volume stored in '/var/lib/alsa/asound.state', because when you run
# alsactl restore
you don't get the right values.
To solve this, you can do what I mentioned in my post #10
or if you are sure nothing will change the volume in the running system, you can leave the alsa-store.service enabled, and run only:
# alsactl store
once, with the good values.
2) There is a problem in the default systemd configuration of the sound with alsa installed.
In fact I have the same problem, but the title of your thread leads me to think it was not the same issue.
For me, I get:
LANG=C journalctl|grep "No soundcards found"

My machine is booted every day, but the 'No soundcards found' message doesn't appear every day, so there is a randomness in the occurence.
When it happens, the alsa-restore service is started before the sound target is reached.
Until today, the workaround I used was to re-run the alsa-restore service 2 minutes after boot with a timer.
But studying the problem again, I tried something else, based on:
$ man systemd.special
sound.target
This target is started automatically as soon as a sound card is plugged in or becomes available at boot.
This may be used to pull in audio management daemons dynamically when audio hardware is found.
I ran:
# systemctl add-wants sound.target alsa-restore.service
# systemctl daemon-reload
At the next boot, it works:
LANG=C journalctl -b|grep -i -e alsa -e sound -e snd

I am thrilled that the HTC Thunderbolt was finally OK'd for the update to Ice Cream Sandwich... and the operating system update is everything I had hoped for. My issue that I can't figure how to fix is that the phone will randomly restart while I am in the middle of doing anything. Obviously, this can be frustrating, especially if I were in the middle of actively using the phone
What I find especially disturbing is the battery charge status before and after these random resets.... A lot of times, these resets occur while I have a mostly charged battery... This morning, after one reset, the battery full % was immediately reduced to 9% (In the RED)... whoa.. from a single reset? Seems way off... I was at least 80-90% full prior... I cannot imagine that a single restart would drain the battery so much...
Something is off. Am I the only one experiencing these issues? (Random phone restarts and massive battery power loss after said restart)
Thanks,
Now I am noticing an issue with SIM Card... about every 3-4 restarts, the phone is giving me a message stating that it the phone is activating (AGAIN) and that I have to wait for another restart after 2 minutes... this planned restart never occurs... Now I can't tell if the issue is related to the Ice Cream Sandwich update or something else... Of note, I did just receive this refurbished phone on account of the OTA software update for Ice Cream Sandwich would not apply correctly... Are the problems related to Ice Cream Sandwich, a battery, a refurbished phone, a SIM card... I just can't narrow down issue... This is my second refurbished phone that I am having difficulty with, so I am sincerely hoping this is not the issue as it paints a bad image towards the reliability of any reburbished phone... Once fine, but more than that is a trend that should not be ignored... Message was edited by: cernoma cernomaHey cernoma,
I am having the same issue with my TB and again ever since the ICS Update. I have never had any issues with my TB until they forced me to update to the ICS.. My phone is in top reselling shape I invest in my phone and I protect it (Seido Hard case and screen protector) I went to bed and woke up with the new ICS and now my phone will be fully charged and I will be using the Internet or even on Facebook and the phone just shuts off. When I try to power it back up the phone notification light is now blinking orange and the phone is beeping at me. If the phone does restart fully (sometimes it will just shut right back off again) The battery is between 4%and 8%. If I plug my phone in when it is booting up it will come right on. But it will not shut off when it is plugged in to an outlet or usb no matter how much i am using it then. I also noticed when it shuts down like this it when it is on the "Network or Verizon Service" it will not shut down unplugged on a WI-Fi connection. I did the battery pull and even went to the factory reset (I hated to do it but did) and still having issues.
I am on the old unlimited data plan. I called Verizon tech support the first lady said oh we can replace it and she would put it under a factory warranty but she had to get me to Level 2 Tech support. I spoke with a Josh there and I told him I did all the steps that they were going to ask me to do (battery pull and factory reset etc..) He asked how long I have had my phone and I explained to him that I have had it all most two years and I have never ever had an issue like this and told him that I have been on here reading posts about people having problems after the ICS update. He then proceeded to tell me there was nothing he could do for me. I explained to him that I did not cause this issue that the update did. That I never know when my phone will just turn off and come on with a low battery. The only thing he told me was that I could re-new my contract and get a new phone... I was like NOOOO I am not paying for data when I had a perfectly good working phone until you (verizon) pushed this update out and of course I get well it wasn't verizon they don't make the software for it blah blah blah.... It an HTC software issue ... But when you call HTC they tell you its a Verizon issue!!! Why can't anyone own up to a problem??? This is isn't right what these companies do to people. You know I could see if I the customer did something to my phone to cause this problem fine shame on me and I would then have to get a new phone with the new contract. BUT I DID NOTHING TO MY PHONE TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE!!!! THEY DID now they tell me my phone is out of warranty and I have to get a new one even though it was their update that caused this issue... NOT RIGHT!!!! I am beginning to think they did this to the unlimited data customers to make them get a new phone so they can make their money from the new contracts in the data usage???
Well that's my two cents worth I am not very happy with all this and of course we as consumers have to put up with company's like these. I even called a lawyer and he told me that company's like this you can't even find an address to write to to file a complaint and they will keep refusing to help you until you just break down and do as they say like buy a new phone out right or like for me to re-new my contract and pay now for data usage. Also unfortunately there is not much other choices for cell phone company's here in Maine or the coverage of service. Verizon right now has the best coverage then all the others and better phones. If I had great Sprint coverage I would switch to them for their unlimited services.. -
My Incredible randomly reboots since update to 4.08
Two days ago 11/17/11 I noticed that my Incredible was rebooting. I know that it happened over six times that day once while I was holding it. It could have happened a lot more since I work construction and run heavy equipment and usually don't even hear or feel it ringing. Then yesterday 11/18/11 it went all day without rebooting. Today 11/19/11 as I am watching football with my Incredible on the table beside me it rebooted twice and shut off without restarting once.
I did have this issue about eight months ago but I was in bad signal area and it only happened on that jobsite so I chalked it up to a signal issue and went on.
This time I am at home and I have always had excellent signal here and the jobsite I was on I have been there for a couple weeks and have not had any problems until after the update.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated.I hate to read you are having these erratic behaviors with your Incredible.
Prior to the phone beginning these random reboots, did you install any new apps?
You can first put the phone in safe mode.
Does it still reboot in safe mode? If so, then there is an app on there that needs to be removed.
Otherwise, when all else fails, the best remedy is a factory reset upon installation of software updates.
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary. -
Since updating to ios7 my ipad freezes, randomly zooms in and out, black pages that take forever to load and battery charge doesn't last very long. It's very frustrating, is there anything I can do it seems to have a mind of its own
(A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset. -
Since update yesterday my speaker phone volume is real low
Since updated my Galaxy 5 on yesterday the speaker phone volume is real low..anyone else experiencing this or know whats going on? I haven't had this phone 3 weeks and now this....
We want to see you enjoying the update on your new phone, stina34. Are ringtones and other audio like music still playing at the same level as before the update? While on a call, have you tried to adjust the volume up and down? Is the call volume when not using speaker phone still at a louder level?

My iPod touch is not connecting to my iCloud account, under iCloud settings it has my old email account and username that I have since updated and are working correctly on my iPad, any idea how I can reset this on the iPod or otherwise? This old account info keeps coming back on my iPod and messing up access to my apple account and now the icloud. last time a system restore needed to be done to fix it....
It won't give me the option to sign out of the old account, it's that light grey color that you can't click on. And since it has the old email address that it's telling me to go into to verify the account, I can't actually change it... I'm stuck

Since updating to IOS 8.1 on ipad mini can't download apps from iTunes store. Apps show "waiting." Have reset to new condition with no improvement. Also turned off Wi-Fi and re-connected. Any solution? Thanks,
If you restored your iPad as new, and it still didn't help, I don't know if anything in here will help. in any event, I have posted this boilerplate of suggestions many times in the past and the suggestions in here have worked for others at one time or another. Feel free to give them a try.
1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. If you see a downloads tab in the lower right corner, then there is a download in iTunes.
4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
7. Reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. -
ipad mini cant update any apps or install new ones since updated to ios8.02 and now today updated to ios8.1 still cant update apps the circle just keeps spinning round, i have done a hard reset etc no joy, anybody else got same problem.
VPN-User,
Ok - I see the list of issues and will ensure our X300 specialist takes a look at it.
Please do understand that while you have put together a very coherent list, I try to ensure priority to threads in which multiple customers are focused on a single issue, as we deliver the most benefit to the community in working on those. This forum is primarly a peer to peer discussion forum rather than a Lenovo chat / tech support where we try to solve each and every issue put forth.
Individuals with a long list of issues on a particular machine may find benefit from either contacting technical support and working through their list, or publishing it as you have done and wait for other users of the same system to share their experiences.
Thanks for your patience

Since Update to Mavericks my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) restarts randomly
Hey,
I'm using a 13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) with the original 500gb HDD and a 128gb SSD and 16gb RAM which worked out very well ever since. But since updating to Mavericks at least once a day the system crashes out of nowhere a screen shows up that says "your computer was restarted because of a problem" and the system runs up again and works perfectly fine – until it crashes again.
I've checked on the RAM and the SSD with the delievered software but it says that everything is fine.
If someone could help me, I would be very grateful.
Greetings from Germany,
Jon

Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2
Been working on the SAME big project over 18 months, in Pr Pro CC, 2014, working on the SAME PC:
Win 7 SP1 pro 64bit, i7-3770K, 32GB fast memory (25.7 available for Pr), Intel HD 4000 graphics on Asus motherboard with 30" NEC Multisync screen at 2560 x 1600 (same as for years)
42GB free on my SSD drive C: and 54GB free on my SSD drive S: for preview files, 24GB free on my SSD drive T: for caching files. Project files etc stored on a normal hard drive F: (for Files!) 1.25TB free.
NOW last update to 2014.2 and I get constant RANDOM crashes (Windows encountered a fault and had to close this program) despite updating graphics driver and trying different settings in preferences, use mercury etc. No particular action causes it - sometimes I am just watching it play a sequence and it just stops. Though of course it may be rendering the last edit at the time.
Sometimes it runs for all of 15 mins and I think the problem has sorted then it goes again and I have to restart the project, find where I was and re-do my last edits. If I remember to press Ctrl-S very frequently (every few seconds) it seems to run for a while then I forget for 5 mins and it crashes.
Grrrr what did you do to the latest version, Adobe?? I need to get this project finally finished in a hurry.... I wish I had not updated the program! Of course I cannot go back as it says the saved copy is now incompatible with earlier Pr Pro versions.
I then tried running a previous version at the same time, as simonray suggested in his post - it worked! So I am able to continue as normal provided I do this stupid bodge fix.
So it really is down to Adobe as it is the same project, same PC, just different version update. You did something to a great, stable, program that made it unstable, Adobe...
To ANSWER RAMEEZ from previous thread:
A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin. >> DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING since 1½ years running previous PrPro versions on SAME PROJECT on SAME PC
the graphics driver Checked for latest version - didn't stop the crashing
third-party plug-ins - don't have any
a problem with the cache files. I am using the same 2 x SSD I have been using for years for autosave and caching. 54GB free space / 24GB free space (current cache in place)
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...) Doesn't apply
the Preferences files be set to read-only How would that happen? Never happened before on any other update and I can change it.
the user not having administrator rights Only one user on PC since installation, full rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting Haven't changed anything
a problem on the licensing/authentication side. I'm signed up to full Adobe CC. Everything else works, Ps, Lr, Id ...
A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

Thanks,
RameezProblem Solved! (with a small catch)
While searching crashing issues I came across this thread,"Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2"
Marc_Lec Answered (and I paraphrase here)"...I had the same problem and this is what I did. In 'Preferences Memory' I increased the memory reserved for other application to at least half the installed and changed the optimize render from 'performance' to 'memory."
Thank You Marc_Lec for what has been a game changer for me since my last computer and the beginning of PremiereCC problems.
I changed my Memory reserved for Other Applications from the default 7gigs to 1/2 of my approx.31 available Gigs = 16Gigs. Viola!
No more crashing what-so-ever!
I still have to purchase an older GTX 980 graphics card to take advantage of Adobe's approved code to utilize X=Cuda Cores and GPU, but I think I'll hang onto my new TitanX, in hopes that Adobe will write code and approve it someday in the near future.
Now why doesn't Adobe say this officially about Memory Settings? (I don't know maybe they do and I missed I somewhere)
Mine and probably many peoples computers problems here on this board may be attributed to a simple Memory adjustment, because the computer needs more than 7Gigs to run itself, not to mention Premiere. -
Since updating to iOS 6, my 4th gen iPod touch, and my 3rd gen iPad has sound in and out. Sometimes it's on, and then all of a sudden, no sound. I've tried everything from restarting to fully resetting each one starting fresh, but nothing. Please help.
I have exactly the same problem. I have tried almost everything and I am nowhere near an Apple shop as I am working in Africa.
Did you manage to find a solution? Help please if possible. Regards Az -
My iPad mini retina is still having random reboots with blue screen after updating to iOS 8.0.2.i also did reset my iPad.But the problem still persists
Could you add your problem here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6569052? This makes sure the discussion and in one place and we can attract more attention from Apple.

I have only had this problem since updating to firefox 25. I have already tried resetting the ff deafaults. it did restore the "undo close tab" for a short while. but when i exited and restarted ff i have the same problem again. I don't want to have to keep resetting the defaults, because it is too time consuming to then set all my preferences again.
I had the same difficulty. Could not use the Ctrl+Shift+T combo to undo close tabs. The solutions mentioned here did not work. I turned off the add-on "Tab Mix Plus" and the keystroke combo worked. Updating to the latest version of Tab Mix Plus solved the issue.
