Random ringing during bedtime hours

My mother's phone rings one, two sometimes three times during the night... No number is recorded and the ring is of short duration. Any one have any ideas or solutions on how to stop this annoyance?
The ring is at random times and very distressing... My mother is elderly and cannot cope with this any longer.

It might be the routine night testing at the exchange, that can cause the bell to tinkle, it shouldn't happen more than once though as they only test the line once, not up to three times during the night.
It might be worth phoning BT or contacting the Mods on here and ask they ask Openreach to remove your mums line from the routine night testing.
Is nothing else connected to the line that something like a service centre calls is there, i.e. Sky STB or Community Care Alarm?

  • Restrict iPod during bedtime hours/Children

Does anyone know of a function/app that would allow me to restrict access to the mobile devices during certain hours of the night? I have seen apps that set a daily timer, but I am more concerned about my children accessing their iPod after bedtime or waking up waaaay to early in the morning to play on their iPods.
    Thanks!

  • How do I get around or reset security questions that I have forgotten ie What was your first car ,without ringing during office hours?

How do I get past forgotton security questions for buying from store. ie What was your first car.

If you have a valid rescue email address, there’ll be a link to send a reset email to it. Use it, wait a few hours, and check the spam filter.
If not, wait for Apple’s office hours and then phone them.
If you’re desperate to make a purchase and have a credit card or unredeemed iTunes Store gift card, make a new Apple ID. iTunes Store credit and previous purchases can’t be transferred between them.

  • How can I disable web/data access during certain hours?

I have added a feature to my wireless account restricting my daughter's text/data/surfing access during evening hours.  I thought I was pretty clever and assumed she would only have access to her music on her iPhone.  Turns out she can still access all she wants using our home WIFI so my sceme is rendered useless.  Other than confiscating her phone each evening, does anyone know how I can restrict wifi on her phone during certain hours?
Also, does anyone have a nano?  Thinking she could use that for music and to set her alarm, but I don't think the nano has an alarm function.
    Thanks for your input!

No way to restrict it during certain hours. You can restrict it always, or never. Parental supervision is one solution. It's a losing battle to try to outwit children. It's better to require trust, with consequences if trust is breached.

  • Slow speed during peak hours for over a year

For over a year now my connection speed has slowed during peak hours, at first it would start around 6pm and drop to 5meg or so untill midnight at which point it would go back up to 8meg all night and morning.
As the year has gone on it has gotten worse and worse to the point now where it starts around 2pm and plummits to 1.5-2meg and remains at that till midnight at which point it goes back to 8meg.
I have been trying to get help with this from @BTCare on twitter for serveral months now and have gotten absolutely no where, every time i get the same old "are you on wireless or wired", "try a different router/microfilter", "try another PC", "run a diagnostic test on our speed tester" etc etc and at the end of it they go silent and then when i try and get some kind of update we are back to square one of being told to fill out my details on the website to open a NEW ticket even though i currently have 5 or 6 open tickets for the same **bleep** issue.
So i've come to try my luck here before i throw in the towel and just get rid of the **bleep** line alltogether as it is currently a waste of money.

  • Slow internet during peek hours

    Hello,
New to the forum but have been browsing it for a while. For the past 2 weeks I am having issues with my DSL download speed during what seems to be peek hours (from 3pm till midnight). I am on the 3.1-7mbps plan and during morning hours the speedtest.net is showing correct over 6.5 mbps download speed (and the internet in general is fast) but during peek hours it drops between 1-1.3mbps download and all sites seems to be sluggish. I have a tech coming in tomorrow but just by browsing through a couple of pages of this forum, I see this is a rather common occurrence . I am in Rahway, NJ area. My transceiver stats look good and do not fluctuate during day/night. How do I get a hold of higher level technician at Verizon that can actually change the data circuit on their end as it seems to me that their switches may get overloaded during peek hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • IS- Retail - Cycle count during business hours

    Hi ,
I am trying to do cycle count thru the POS system, and this is during business hours.  We want to perform cycle count at the stores using the POS system and update SAP.  I checked in SAP Help and its very confusing and its not step by step.  The config path provided in SAP Help also is not updated.  Is there any documents or materials that anyone of you can provide me.  Any information provided is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amauris.

    Hi,
SAP has introduced this new functionality called Physical Inventory during Opening hours along with EhP3 along with POS DM. Which means in case you want to carry out physical inventory during business hours, you will require POSDM as well as EHP3 installed as well as relevant Business function set activated to carry this out.
In case you do not have POSDM in your landscape i dont think you can do it.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Manish

They already have your number and/or email address and maybe have sold it several times already to others as well. They also use number generators - software that will automatically create them - some work and some don't, they don't care, they send out millions and a few will fall for it and send them money. The only way to "hide" would be to change both and your password, but then it would happen again at some point.

Do I have to charge my iPhone during 12 hours when it turn off ? I just bought it

Charge your iPhone whenever you want to. There are no limitations on when or the duration of charge. Normally it will charge in 3-4 hours with the wall charger, longer if you use a computer USB port.

  • Choppy connection during evening hour

During evening hours, from 6-11 ish. My internet connection is very choppy. I will go to a website and there is a very good chance that browser cannot reach server and return a server not found or takes 15 or 20 second to establish connection. Once browser reach server, loading is quick but it takes way too long for that to happen. I have 50 Mbps plan and I should not have to wait 15 seconds for the browser to find the website. Also, even though my plan is 50 Mbps, every single speed test I have ever done has always being under 50 Mbps bandwidth, often between 45 and 48. **bleep** Verizon????

Have you tried changing your DNS Servers to something such as Google DNS or OpenDNS?
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are Google DNS
    208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 are OpenDNS.
If it's still choppy, are you by chance browsing over Wireless?
These are probably the two most common issues, and it's best to rule these out first.

  • Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

I'm trying to connect to a database in an ICM script for the first time and I added a new database user to the Router registry. I think I must have to restart the service to activate the new credentials. Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

    Lisa,
You shouldn't need to restart any processes. If you already had the database setup in Database Lookup Explorer before putting the credentials in the registry, you can just make a change to the Database Loookup entry, and the Router will try to reconnect.
Also, the Logger has nothing to do with ICM database lookups - the DBworker is part of the Router processes.

Yes Verizon has contacted me by phone.  I never scheduled a call time nor did I call them.  They also are not making it easy to contact them through email.  I need to discuss a way to assure that my phone is never called again during work hours without a prearranged meeting.  I will not speak on the phone nor use a live chat.  I want email as I want this documented offical and no other means offeres me that assurance.  I'd also like to discuss comensation for being harrassed with phone calls.

Well if you pay your bill the calls would not happen.
You need only tell them not to call you during working time.
The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act states you must tell them it is not convenient.
Now if marketing calls you can opt out at the Verizon web portal under your My Verizon account.
You will not get compensation for them to call you. Nice try.
However they could just shut your phone off and then you will call them.
    Email is not an option.
    Good Luck
