Random songs in library won't sync to iPod

I can't seem to find anything on this so I thought I would throw it out there...I have my iTunes library on a 250 Seagate external HDD. About two weeks ago, I connected my iPod to sync it (5th Gen 60GB)and iTunes couldn't seem to find the new songs. I manually told iTune where they were, resynced, and then it couldn't find a much larger selection of the library that was different from the first. I removed the library, started over and everything seemed fine until I connected the iPod and the same thing happened. I can't seem to get the entire library onto the iPod. There's enough room on the iPod to hold the entire library. I'm not sure if it iTunes, the iPod or the HDD. I purchased another external harddrive (since I needed to back up anyway) and the same thing happened with the new HDD (WD 350). Any ideas?

I have noticed that it seems to be a bit rate size problem. My iPhone only adds songs or vids less than 127bps. Now, it's possible that it could be slightly higher, but that seems to be the limit of the stuff I have. Nothing 158bps or 160bps or 192bps or 256bps syncs over, though it did last week! Is it possible this limit was inadvertently imposed in the last update? Problem only appeared after last iTunes update. Could have been with 3.0 update but I don't think so. However I have noticed when they do sync, after I play them or partially play them they disappear from the playlist on the iPhone, should I go to another app and them come back to it.
I don't want to reduce the bit rate, I want iTunes to fix itself, gol-darnit!
Anyone know of a solution or heard of this?

  • All songs in library won't sync to ipod (cannot be found).

I have a 6th generation ipod nano. I recently switched from a different computer to my new laptop. I wiped my ipod of all it's old songs and tried to sync my collective purchases onto the nano. However, about 84 of 257 won't sync because they "cannot be found." I had these songs on my old ipod that's "corrupted" and put them on my new itunes using my itunes account. Is there something wrong with my ipod or is it my itunes (or operator error)?

  • Why songs from library won't appear on ipod

Why does the songs added to my itunes library not appear on my ipod now. It worked fine until a few days ago.I have icloud.

You might need to turn off iTunes Match on your iPod, then after a minute or so turn it back on to reload your itunes library.

  • New songs and playlists won't sync to iPod since 8.0.2

I have an 80gb iPod classic. I have made numerous failed attempts to sync new songs and playlists since downloading this latest 8.0.2 version of iTunes.
When I plug in my iPod it shows up in iTunes, when I sync it iTunes shows a progress bar, then it tells me that the sync is complete and I disconnect my iPod when prompted. However, when I attempt to locate the song and/or playlist on my iPod, they are no where to be found, but I can still locate them on iTunes. I have roughly 10gb of files on the iPod, so I don't have any issues with available memory.

Have you tried clicking on the ipods name then go to movies and click sync movies and do the same with the playlists and it should work (:

  • Entire song library won't sync to iphone

my entire song library won't sync to my iphone.  some songs in my library are just skipped over and never play.  What's the problem?

It sounds to me like the option to  "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" was turned off in the iTunes -> Advanced preferences when you added the tracks from the flash drive, so iTunes left them on the flash drive rather than copying them to your computer's hard drive. Get Info on any of the tracks and see where iTunes thinks they should be located. If they're pointing to the flash drive, check that preference.
If that is indeed the problem, you'll need to fix the location. You can do this track by track if there aren't too many, but if there are a number of them, it'll be easiest to remove them from the iTunes library, fix the above-mentioned preference, and add the tracks again. Or you can just keep the flash drive connected to your computer, but that's probably not ideal.
    Regards.

  • Please Help - My iTunes library won't recognize my iPod classic

My iTunes library won't recognize my iPod classic 80gb. I try doing the trouble shooting steps on apple, but they still did not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to add some newer music to my old iPod for listening in the car or when travelling. Thanks a lot.

    Hello dmbnewfie,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPod classic is not being recognized in iTunes when you connect it to your computer. I know you have tried some troubleshooting on the Apple website as well, but without knowing which steps you have completed, I would suggest working through the attached iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant.

  • ITunes 10 bug? First track of albums won't sync to iPod

Really weird behavior I've noticed with iTunes 10 - when I add a new album to my iTunes library, and then sync my iPod, the first track of the album isn't copied over. Sync the iPod a second time, and the missing track is copied over.
I've noticed this on two separate occasions, with two different albums. One was from the iTunes Store and the other wasn't.
Any ideas? I have an old iPod Photo, but never noticed this behavior before. Started sometime after iTunes 10 came out.

Quit iTunes. Delete a file named com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig, located in the User Name>System>Library>LaunchDaemons. Go to User Name>Library>Preferences. Locate the file com.apple.iTunes.plist. Move that file to the desktop. Reopen iTunes and it will be like the first time you click on it but your file is not going to be gone. It seems like a support file issue.

  • I have downloaded the lord of the rings BBC Dramatisation in 3 parts but they appear out of sequence on my iPod no matter how I try to arrange them in my library when I sync my iPod they are still out of sequence eg: Book 1, Book 3 Then Book 2. HELP!

I have downloaded the lord of the rings BBC Dramatisation in 3 parts but they appear out of sequence on my iPod no matter how I try to arrange them in my i Tunes library when I sync my iPod they are still out of sequence, eg: Book 1, Book 3 Then Book 2. HELP!

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

    ipod mini Windows XP

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Replacing the missing playlist should sort things out but if problems persist then have a look at this troubleshooting page for the 1428 error: Error 1415, 1417, 1418, or 1428 when restoring or updating an iPod in iTunes 7 or later

    ipod-

Just so you know...if you do indeed have a mini (and are not confusing it with a Nano) then you have post in the wrong forum. This is the 2nd gen nano forum and if you do have a Nano you're still in the wrong forum since you stated that yours is over a year old and the 2nd gen is not a year old yet.
See if this article offers any assistance.
Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod

  • Songs in my library won't sync to my iPod

My daughter got a new ipod touch & only half the songs in her library will sync.  We have home sharing so some of the songs were dragged from my library.  They won't sync.  Frustrating. We've already tried choosing playlists instead of the whole library and resetting the ipod & starting over.  Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hey,
Plug it into iTunes and select the iPod on the left, click music at the top and make sure its selected to syn if not check it and click apply at the bottom, also it may be because the iPod is full its capacity is also displayed at the bottom of the iPod page.

  • IPod synced with other library - won't sync, unless I erase iPod

I recently switched jobs and copied my iTunes on my old Macbook to my iPod. I know have a new job and want to sync my iPod with my new MacBook Pro. But it won't let me, as an error pops up saying that the iPod is currently synced with another library.
Any help? I have about 1500+ songs on the iPod. All are from my CD collection that I spent days putting on there.

Change the iPod settings to Enable Disk Use and Manually Manage Music.

  • Music library won't sync

I have a problem. When I first got my iPhone 4 I was syncing it with my laptop, but now my laptop doesn't work all the time so I transferred my music onto my desktop computer and wanted to sync with that but since you can only sync with one itunes library it asked me if I wanted to erase the data and replace it with this other one. So I did and now it won't sync any of the songs and they all have exclaimation points next to them. I have no clue what to do and I am frustrated because now I have NO music on my phone whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You didn't transfer the music correctly or didn't authorize the new computer.
