Random spam accounts adding me on Skype

So I noticed that I had a notification on my skype so I checked it out and it happened to be this random account called Hotbaby101. I responded to it and found out it was a woman this is what she reposnded "Hey I'm out of collage now and I can have some free time" she then sent me a link to some dating site and said "Just click on the link sign up and then we'll be connected". I kept asking her thing but she would never answer them. She also said that she found me on this Skype search app. I tried calling the acc but it would always fail. I then blocked the acc. closed my computer and then the next I opened and saw I had 3 new notfications from random people in their 20s just like the other acc. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening is driving me crazy?

Make sure your privacy settings are set to your contacts only, otherwise you open yourself up to random spam chats/calls from strangers or bots.  The only thing this won't stop is  unwanted contact requests.  I've never really had any real problems for the reasons I list here:

    Right... this has been doing my nut right in, yet another problem with some Microsoft technology!
    When MS applications work, they work great, but when they go wrong they go **bleep** up in a big way.
    Ive had a Skype account for years, granted I may have not signed in for almost a year, but I dont think its the first time Ive had a long time away from Skype and Ive always been able to sign back into my account.
    So... I know my username but forgotten password / hit forgot pwd link / entered account email / received code in email / copy and pasted code into code textbox / hit submit or send whatever it is!
    Result: Skype cannot find an associated account, or words to that effect!
    I have tried the same process but by sending forgotten pwd code to my mobile in an SMS, the same thing happens! Cannot find my account...
    So I fear I have lost all my contacts and any credit I may have had left!!!
    So I assumed my account must be gone! I create a new account using my old username... Result: An account already exists with the username supplied. I very much doubt there is another account with my username as it is too unique, a made up word with meaning only to me. If there is another account with this username it would be a first!
    More likely however is that my original account still exists, but is failing on an epic scale to allow me to regain access by taking me through the usual automated channels! Or Skype / MS have done some kind of server migration and balls'd it up along the way, which has create some db relational cokc up or something!
    So.. next I created a whole new account after reluctantly accepting defeat, and pulling my hair out over the bloody stupid impossible task of trying to get some support from these in house MS developed androids who must be working under the control of the evil Mr BG.
    After I successfully created a new account, guess what.... cant sign in with that account, duno who you are. Why not get support or hit the forgotten pwd... grrrrrr! Are you taking the biscuit!?
    Another thing; getting support.... going to the support page and hitting the Support request Page link redirects to the create account page. If thats not **bleep**e customer support I dont know what is!!!!
    It looks like just a simple link error, more like a way of getting out of doing any work!!!
    Third time lucky, new account has allowed me to eventually sign in here and blow off a bit of steam... but still havn't got my original account back!
    If anyone gives a hoot, and is able to look into this pain in the arse error, I would be very grateful and try and not slag you off to every person who tries to talk to me about Skype or MS.
    FYI: This isnt a byass thinig, because I dont like Apple either with all its locked down culture, so you do have your good points MS.

    it's simple, really
    in order to get skype support, you have to be logged in using A skype account. if you can't sign in to your "normal" skype account - create another one, I assume it is best to use a separate email account as the primary mail for this.
    once that is done, you can sign in and contact skype support and ask questions about your problematic skype account.
    you will, of course need to know some facts about the "problematic" account, in order to proove that it is your Account. I doubt you would be happy if Joe Random managed to take over your skype account by just contacting skype support

    whichever app store you are connecting to, hyou need a credit card with an address in that country. Also, itunes gift cards must be in local currency too.

  • Bogus email accounts added in Mail Application

    I just noticed that one of our client machines has an email account added to it that was not added by the user or IT admin. The account is grayed out and cannot be deleted in the preferences. In fact, everytime I try to delete it creates a duplicate. I appears to be sending some kind of emails out through this client and consuming a lot of memory. It appears that there maybe a virus or the client may have been hacked? Is anyone else having this experience or have any suggestions as to how to remove this account for good?

  • Account hacked, money taken, skype customer servic...

     In December, my account was hacked, the username, verification details and password were all changed, over £100 was taken from my bank account. After contacting skype they kept requesting me to complete a link verfication page. I have since opened a new account using my username which proves that my account details were chaned. Skype have refused to refund me the money and are completely clueless as to assisting me with the problem. I reported that my account had been hacked and told them to close it, they refused to close the account because they could not verify who I was. As a result the money was taken.. My advice, do not use this, they have poor security and will do nothing to assist you in the event of a online fraud.

    afaik, what the support will be asking are the details originally registered, or entered prior to the hacking incident.  Logically, they will not ask users to verify the details that the 'hacker' entered after they gained access to the user's account.

  • Locked account unable to unlink Skype and Microsof...

    My original skype account is locked and I can no longer access it.  Skype support can't seem to verify my identity even tough I've filled out the form multiple times.   I can verify my microsoft account all I want since I have recovery code, and authorization app on my windows phone. This leaves me with unable to unlink my skype account from my microsoft account and not able to access any messenger features on my microsoft account.  Skype Support has not provided any support and I can find no way of unlinking the accounts.  Who do I contact and where do I go from here?  I refuse to delete and create a new microsoft account since I have had the same account since almost the beginning of Hotmail.

    @mkaruppasamy: You currently have two different Skype accounts, the first - your "old" Skype account - uses a Skype name for signing in. The new one you (obviously accidentally) created based on your Microsoft account. You need to:
    1) Delete your Microsoft account sign in based Skype account by following the "Unlink" process: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12211/how-do-i-unlink-my-skype-account-from-my-microsoft-or-faceb...
    2) Correctly recover the password for your old Skype account. Please follow the Skype account password recovery again: https://login.skype.com/recovery

    I have Spamassassin running on my server and regularly resend spam messages to a spam account to teach the program. I now want to remove those messages from my sent mailbox. Is this possible using a Rule?

    It might be possible to use a rule but why not create an intelligent mailbox containing the criteria "sent to spam-address". Then you can select all the messages and delete them.

    Is that a method to force a skype account to become closed?   To delete one's own email account associated with the skype account?  The skype account would have no email account any longer.

    WTH?  How do I stop this garbage before it really gets started?  Obviously I'm not opening it, but man! How irritating!  Like I don't already get enough Spam in my email.

  • Random account added to my list of accounts

    Hey, when I logged on this morning, I noticed an account that wasn't mine.
    ([e-mail removed for privacy and security]) was added to my list of accounts I'm managing.  I don't know why this is here and I was wondering if any of you did.  If you guys can help, that would be good.  Its not much of a problem, more like an annoyance to have it there. 
    It wont let me post a screenshot of it, since apparently "gyazo is not permitted in this community"

    Hey Casper,
    There's some sort of conflict with a content holder you have placed within the page.  When you remove it the url restores back to normal. 
    I would look into this script in the "add this" content holder which most likely is affecting the output of the url.

  • TS3899 I have deleted my mail account & added it again, but when I open my mail there is only a blank screen, also my safari will not open it just goes straight to my main screen.

    I can't seem to get my mail screen when I open it on my iPhone, the screen is blank now but earlier today i was unable to use the screen to select anything... Also I'm unable to open Safari, would anyone know what I need to do, I've deleted the account and added it again but nothing.... Thanks

    The first step in user troubleshooting is to power the phone off/on. The next step is a reset, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release, ignoring the slide to power off screen if it appears. If none of this helps, the next step is a restore, first from a backup and if no help, then as a new device. A reset does not affect data, however a restore will remove data from the phone. Make sure everything is backed up. Sounds like the email is not the only issue you have with the phone.

  • Skype Account contact list and skype name changed

    Hi!
    I have been actively using my skype account again lately and one time last week when I signed in, I just cannot. My username and password are correct. And so what I did was to reset my password. I was able to reset my password through my email and when I signed in to Skype, I found out that my skype account was "hacked", I think. My skype name, profile photo and contact list changed into somebody else's account.
    I just want to ask what has happened to my account? Why did that happened? The username and contact list that appears to my account, I think, was leggit and not an act  of hacking. Could it be possibly that our accounts switched?

    Your report reads to me like your account was compromised (hacked).  If you still have control of it, sign on to the account dashboard and change your account's registered e-mail address to something else, and then change the password. 
    Also, as a proactive measure, ensure your computer's software and patches are updated, and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the most recent virus signature files available.
    If you have lost access to your account, you may need to create a new account to use so you can contact Skype Customer Service in order to recover the first account.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.

  • Skype Account Credit stolen by Skype...

    Hi, seems like my first posting disappeared... I thought Skype was a respectable and trustworthy company... but Skype seems to disrespect personal ownership of other individuals by just taking their "property" (credits) without giving any kind of notice... Any proper, honest company would give at least 3 Notices, starting at least a month in advance in case their users are on holiday.  I did a video call to another skype user yesterday, so I am actively using skype, but have not recieved any Notice that Skype were about to take my credits... ok, I have not called any cell-phones or landlines in the last year, but I had an auto-recharge set up, however every 5 years the credit card expires, and I recieved a new one with a new expiry date, so the auto-recharge failed, but then I should get a notice telling me this, so that I can take action and not just quietly steal my credits, giving one the impression that Skype is actively trying to steal money from their users, hoping they will recharge so that Skype has a new chance next year to steal their users money again.  I think it is not morally correkt from skype to just take the credits from long time users and say the account is inactive without giving them the chance to do anything about it... It is only a small amount for me, but it is a matter of principle. I will not recharge my account before I get my credits back, and if I don`t get the credits back, then I will switch to another provider and advice everybody I know to switch as well.

    Skype has no interest in stealing people's credit.  You ought to have received e-mails from Skype indicating your credit balance was about to slip into inactive status, together with instruction on how to restore credit to active status.  Please do check that your account's registered e-mail address is up-to-date.
