Random Web pages strike again!!!

Being relatively new to Mac, I have searched a lot of discussions around my problem but still cant seem to rid my system of annoying web pages popping up when I click on a link in various web pages. Even clicking discussion links in Apple support brings them up.
I have tried resetting safari, Mac scan, DNS updater, DNS changer removal tool, ClamXav with no success. I still keep getting annoying popup web pages, some are ads while some offer free games while another is a music blog website.
I am scratching my head here, can someone please help.

some are ads while some offer free games while another is a music blog website.
That particular combination sounds familiar.
Check for the presence of a Community Toolbar plugin on your system. There's some advice on locating and removing that in the following topic:

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Random web pages frequently don't load in OS X lion

Hi can anyone help on this problem:
Bought a new macbook a month ago  and frequently web pages won't load.  The same problem persist whether I use Safari, Chrome or Firefox. Reloading the page doesn't fix the problem, nor does clearing cache etc.  Sometimes, but not always exiting the browser solves the issue, or if I try later the same page will work. Frustratingly the issue occurs seemingly randomly and on random sites, i.e a webpage that was working earlier will no longer work or within a given website suddenly a next page will fail to load.
The error that comes up is the browser can't find the site or resolve the dns server (?).  I've tried several fixes from related posts on this forum but none seem to work. This is super frustrating and not in line with all my previous mac experiences which were always flawless..
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks!
PS  Running Lion v 10.7.2, connected to Wifi (no problems), same issue arises at home and office

Why I can't play the stream in Lion?
You might need to install either http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player/wmcompo nents or http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923 or both.
Note: Both are Lion compatible. The QuickTime 7.6.6 install adds a QuickTime 7 Player in your utilities folder which can cope with older formats like MMS and WMV.

  • Random web pages popping up...

I will go and type in google or something else in my Yahoo home page. Then I click on google when it pops up. Some other web page(s) keep popping up!! What is going on here? I would like to know how to reset this or prevent it from happening. I ran a MacScan Spyware and it came up clean.
    Any other suggestions?
    Regards.

Did you download something just before this started happening, such as a file claiming to be a video codec that QuickTime needed? If so, then you probably have a Trojan Horse. To check for and remove it if you have it, you need to download and run DNSChanger Removal Tool.
If you have it, this will remove it and then you must restart your Mac for it to complete the job. You should also change your DNS Servers after rebooting your Mac, in system Preferences > Network > Configure > TCP/IP to these two:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
click Apply Now and quit System Preferences, then restart Safari and test it out to see if you're still being redirected.

  • Firefox crashes when I navigate pages on grooveshark, try to open the add-on manager, and when I visit any number of random web pages. What is wrong with it?

Firefox never crashes immediately on startup or when I close the windows, but it crashes usually soon afterwards. It always crashes shortly after I open the add-on manager, so I can't even see which plugins I have that might be causing problems.

  • Web pages and/or images not loading

This problem started a few weeks ago once every few days or so, then got more and ore frequent where now it is happening multiple times each day.
I am using Safari 6.1 on an iMac running OS 10.7.5
Random web pages (some way more than others) will not load when I go to them. Sometimes, the text of the pages will load, but no images. Sometimes the URL progress bar will go across about an inch and the screen will go to blank white (this is most often) and it will just sit there. If I leave it alone, usually the web page will finally load about 4-10 minutes later on its own.
I have talked with my ISP and we have tried the following fixes, with no positive results:
When the problem happens, I try pinging the website {using Network utilities) and it always pings just fine.
When the problem happens, I run Traceroute (using Network utilities) and email him a screen shot of the results.
I have changed my DNS numbers to OpenDNS, per his comments.
I have removed the router and plugged in direct.
I have replaced all my Cat5 cables with new Cat6 cables.
While the problem is happening, he can ping me just fine from his end.
When the problem happens, I open Firefox and go to the same site, and have the same blank results in Firefox.
When the problem happens, I can open a new Safari window and go to other sites just fine.
This morning, I had the same issues, so I left it to clear on its own. I then went to Outlook to check my email and I had two emails where the images would not load at all, just like the web pages. So I left it alone for over 20 minutes and still no loading. Then I quit Outlook, re-opened it and the images came in just fine. During that 20 minutes, the web pages loaded in Safari in the background.
I found and read a discussion about this issue  (  https://discussions.apple.com/message/22125235#22125235  ) and per that conversation, I created a GUEST user account, closed out of my account and logged in as a GUEST. I then used Safari to browse the web ans while it was faster, eventually after about 30 minutes, I found a page that would not load (one of my usual suspect pages). I then sat back and let it go and after 5 minutes, the page loaded just fine.
    HELP!!!!!
    John

    Interesting side note . . .
After writing this (above), I clicked on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page and the screen went blank white and it sat there for more than five minutes, when it finally went through. SO, i had my problem occur while submitting my question about the problem!
    Awesome!

  • How do I lock my default language to English for all web pages?

I have discovered that my language keeps reverting back to French for my web pages. Not for the sites per se, but for anything that I manually enter into a field or form. And since I have my work and home computers set to sync, it keeps reverting back on both systems. It's not necessarily noticeable until I type a word that isn't in the French dictionary, and then everything gets the red underline to indicate the misspelling. I change it *every single day,* but it doesn't stick. Any suggestions?
For the record... the language does not go to French on my Yahoo Mail, but it does on Facebook and random web pages. I initially thought it was a Facebook problem, but when I tried Chrome, MSIE, and Opera (yes, Opera), there was no French issue, I narrowed it down to Firefox. Sorry.

You appear to have installed an additional French dictionary that shows as four French dictionaries in the right-click context menu under languages.
This has nothing to do with installed languages in "Tools > Options > Content > Languages" that are language choices send to the server via the HTTP request headers.
If you do not want to use those dictionaries then you can uninstall (or disable) the extension that added them.

  • Web pages don't load until I start Safari also

Random web pages don't load - I wait - and then as soon as I start Safari to load that web page, the web page then loads immediately on Firefox.
    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == Months ago

That did it, Oxy. Thank you so much for the fast reply! Just a quick question if you return to this thread: Is that a new feature or something I didn't notice before that mistakenly got selected?
I'll browse through the options to see if there is anything else new.

  • In the previous version i was able to close my mozilla and to open it again, the web pages which i was working with remained however i've tried many ways to have this advantage again but it is not working what can i do ???

in the previous Mozilla version i used to leave some web sites opened and when i start working again my Mozilla showed the web pages i was working with in that occasion, i have looked in the options menu but there is no way, perhaps it was an add-on and now it is removed??? i would like to have this advantage again in my Mozilla could it be possible?? thx!

Your webpages/tabs are still there. When you start firefox again, there is a "Restore Previous Session" icon below. If you click that, it will open up all your tabs again.
Or you could see this article for better understanding-

  • Hi Thanks for 4.0. It runs much faster on my Mac, however, it no longer works to zoom in all of my web pages. I use to be able to use my finger pad to increase the size of all of all pages. Thanks again.

PS Are you working on a version for the iPad and iPhone with Add Blocker? That would be great!

  • I can right click to copy a web page link, but it will not let me rick click again to paste the link to the body of text

I use firefox as my web browser. My start page is www.msn.com where I can access hotmail. Once I have logged into hotmail and click on (Create) new mail I have this problem. If I go to a web page link, ie; www.msn.com, I can highlite the address and then right click to copy. When I go to the body of the email I'm working with, and right click again to paste I DO NOT GET A SCREEN THAT HAS PASTE ON IT. I tried this again by logging into Internet Explorer signed into my hot mail account and tried it again. It works in IE with hotmail. So I feel this problem has been encountered with a firefox update, because I did not have the problem in the past.

    Hi,
You may have to make sure that '''Disable or replace context menus''' is enabled (tick) in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Content''' > '''Advanced''' (on the right end of '''Enable Javascript'''). • Safari 6.0.1 won't load web pages randomly, and says website unavailable/no connection. But, all my other devices do have a great connection. Is there a fix for this problem?

I recently bought OS X mountain Lion, and safari 6.0.1 was running great for a short period of time when it stopped loading the web pages. It will randomly do this now and then. I try resetting safari to no avial, and when I do a system reset it provides a temporary fix. It's very annoying problem. I know it is not a connection problem because all my other devices get internet connection. Safari will say no connection/web site is unavailable. The OS I have is OS X ML 10.8.2. Any suggestions?

  • Am using Windows XP professional with FFox 4 beta. Every time I try to print a web page as a pdf I get random letters & digits displayed, is anyone else having this problem, is there a solution to rectify this problem?

This problem only occurred with Ffox 4 beta printing web pages as PDF files on previous versions of Ffox has never been a problem...
The web pages appear to lose formatting when displayed or "printed" as a PDF file, randomly placed letters and digits appear all over the page.

Caused by a Bug in 4.0b12. Fixed for the 4.0RC version due to be released this week.
    File > Print Preview <br />
Try printing from the Print Preview window, using the Print button there.
