Randomly changing Display Profiles during user switch

I keep my MBP Display Profile set to "Color LCD" (which is the default, I think -- System Preferences>Displays>Color>"Color LCD")
Sometimes, and it seems intermittent and random, when I do a fast user switch from my wife's profile (also set on "Color LCD") to mine, right after the rotation animation finishes, the setting randomly changes to "Generic RGB Profile" and all the colors skew blue. Very annoying.
Any idea what's causing this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chip

Hmmm... Well, that seems to be a decent description of the symptoms, although what's happening on my screen is a lot more dramatic than what they describe in the article. Also, I don't believe I'm using a custom color profile.
I'll try the DMProxy trick and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

  • MIGO Posting Date - Authorisation to Change/Display for Certain User ID

    Dear all
    There is this business requirement
    1. Warehouse users should not change the Posting Date of the GR refer PO. It is to avoid user from delaying their work to enter into SAP system the next day although they have received the goods today. As such, we should change the field status of POSTING DATE into Display mode.
    2. However, if the warehouse user has forgotten to enter on the GR Date, they have to go to their Warehouse manager to ask him to enter for them, since the field status: Posting Date is set to display.
    Question:
I know how to set the field status of Posting Date to display, but will this field status will be applied as "display" for all the user id? If so, then how can I control only the Warehouse Manager can have the Change Mode for Posting Date?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi all
I found out this can be done by assigning manager and store keeper to different Tcode with different field status:
Warehouse Manager - MIGO_GR, field status of Posting Date: Required
Store Keeper - MIGO, field status of Posting DAte: Display Only
    This will solve the problem!

  • SCVMM 2012R2 - change port profiles and logical Switches

    Dear all,
we are runnings a few clusters with Hyper-V 2012R2, managed by SCVMM 2012R2.
I have configurad a Logical switch "Cluster-Default" with the necessary Logical networks, Port Pofiles etc., everything works fine.
Now I have to make an additional network available to some of our VMs that is currently not configured in the Switch and the Uplink Port profile.
Can I add Logical and VM Networks to a port profile that is "in use"?
If Yes, how will these changes be applied to the hosts that are using the switches?
(I have searched through technet and have found a lot about creating switches and profiles, but not about changing them)
If No - how can I proceed?
    best regards
    Markus

Yes, Network Sites can be added to Uplink Port Profiles that are in use.  The VM Networks for the associated Logical Networks will then be available for use by vNics connected to the Logical Switch using the updated Uplink Port Profile.

  • Changing the display profile for multiple users at once.

Is it possible to change the display profile for multiple users at once? We would like ot be able ot add tabs and channels globally, but right now we can anly do it for once user at a time. Also, is it possible to have certain generic display profiles that all users use? like an admin profile and a tech support profile and a normal suer profile? Any help is appreciated...

Yes this possible using the dpadmin batch command.
Please check the dpadmin documentation for the batch command.
For generic display profile what you can do is create users and assign the user particular roles. The display you would be creating would be for the roles. The users belonging to that role would inherit that display profile.

  • User switch messes up Display Profiles

I have a problem that's cropped up since I upgraded to Tiger.
When I first startup or restart, when I open the Displays preferences I can go to the Color tab and select any of the Display Profiles I've created for either of my two monitors (Apple 17" 1705 CRT and ViewSonic VE150 LCD), or press the Calibrate button and the calibration application comes up. When I switch over to my other user account, I can do the same.
But, once I switch back to user account #1, both screens get noticeably washed out, and when I select the Display prefs and go to Color it's defaulted to "Generic RGB Profile" for both monitors. I'm not able to select any of the other profiles in either window, and when I press Calibrate I get the error message "Can not calibrate the display - the factory profile for the display could not be found". User account #2 behaves the same way from that point, also. The only way I can restore functionality is to restart, at which point the Display color prefs work properly again, but only until I switch user accounts back and forth...then it "breaks" again.
I've repaired permissions several times, run disk repairs, every maintenance thing I could think of but nothing fixes this problem. How can I get this straightened out?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I came here looking for an answer to this exact problem (it was driving me nuts)... I only use fast user switching when I have visitors, and this is the first time I've needed the feature since upgrading to Tiger.
Fortunately, I think I have found the solution after messing around for a bit (it worked for me anyway). I simply gave access to all of the system preferences (which it didn't have before) to my extra account. After doing that, when I switch back to primary account, the displays stay the way they should. I also found that this problem was affecting the sound on my computer as well. Everything seems to work fine now though.
Hope that works for others as well...

  • Display profiles changing randomly

I have noticed in Snow Leopard, after creating a calibrated display profile, that I have to keep re-applying the profile several times throughout the day, usually after the screen saver activates. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know a fix so that I don't have to go to system preferences every 30 minutes or so to apply the profile?
    Thanks!!

    K T,
I tried what you suggested, re-applied my desktop settings and I still get the same problem. After coming back to my system with the screen saver on, one of the monitors has changed, is very bright, and washed out and requires me to re-apply the calibrated settings.
If it helps, my system has dual monitors, with 2 Nvidia 120 video cards and is using the DVI connections with Sceptre X24 monitors.
    Thank you

    Hi Experts,
I use MEREQ001 to add new fields on the customer tab.
I check during the process the fields and set to required and input a.s.o.
    f.e.
    If sy-tcode eq ME52N or ME51N.
            IF screen-name EQ 'CI_EBANDB-ZZ_ABTL'.
              screen-input = 1.
              screen-required = 1.
            ENDIF.
    Works fine except one issue.
The user starts tc me53n and click on the pencil to switch from display in change mode.
The problem now is that sy-tcode is still ME53N and I don´t if there is a field which know that I´m now in change mode.
Try to find something in SYST but I´m not sure.
These two field are changing the value during the process.

what field should I use? Or is there a field I can use instead?

  • Fast User Switching through Profile Manager

We recently started using OS X Server to manage our Mac computers, currently only 2 but further expansion is expected.  I only have one of the Macs set up on the server for testing purposes.  We are primarily an Active Directory network and I have implemented Open Directory through OS X Server and bound that to the primary Windows domain controller.
So far, things have gone quite smoothly with the integration except for implementing fast user switching on the single client machine tied to the OS X Server box.  I have gone through Profile Manager and under the Login Window settings for the laptop, enabled fast user switching.  However, it still does not work on the client machine after the changes were pushed out.
The user does not get her user name listed in the upper right and we have found no other method of using fast user switching.  She specifically wants to display the login window when she's not at her desk (and this is required for security reasons).  As it is, she has to completely log out of her machine every time she leaves her desk which is, inconvenient, to say the least.
I have searched through the discussions here and every mention I've found that seems to reference this issue also references using network home directories, which we are not doing.  I have the home directory set to continue to reside on the local machine so the AFP/NFS issue shouldn't apply.
Prior to implementing OS X Server, the only thing we were unable to do was limit external drive use and writable media on the Macs since they don't recognize those GPOs from the domain controller.  Updates were easily handled through a third party appliance that we already use for all our other devices and computers on the network.  At this point, if fast user switching is unavailable, it would be less work and less inconvenient for me to simply limit the external media use locally and allow the Mac to be locked by removing the influence of OS X Server.
If anyone knows how to enable it though, this would be my preference since the Software Update is *easier* through OS X Server.

I found the problem.  The device group that the laptop in question was assigned to also has an option for fast user switching that was not enabled.  I enabled it there and the problem was resolved.

  • Memory Leak in Preview.app when switching Display Profiles

I found a weird memory leak in Max OS X Preview.app, which manifests itself when Display profiles (color calbration) is change. I wonder if anyone else can reproduce my experience.
    1. Open up "System Preferences" -> "Displays", switch to the "Color" tab. You'll need at least 2 available profiles in the list. (If you only have 1, you can create another using "Calibrate..." button to launch Display Calibration Assistant.
    2. Open an image file in Preview.app.  The larger, the better. Zoom in full size to maximize the effect of the bug. I repro'ed easily with this image: http://www.donporter.net/NewSchool/Color/Examples/Printer%20Test%20file.jpg
    3. Open up "Activity Monitor.app", and click on Preview to highlight it, so you can watch its memory usage.
    4. Switch back to "Diplays" Preference Pane. Using the arrow keys, toggle up and down between two different Display profiles.
4a. At the same time, watch Preview's "Real Mem" in Activity Monitor, as well as the total "Active" memory.
    5. Each time you switch profiles,  Preview consumes more Active/Real memory, about 25MB per switch in my case. This continues until all physical memory is consumed, and then (I presume) starts swapping virtual memory to disk.
    6. Bring Preview to  foreground, and all the profile-induced memory usage is freed.
    Weird, wild stuff.

Could it be possible that this is just the OS holding the memory for the app until another process requires it?  Do you find that the memory increase eventually causes the app to become unstable?
It might be best to open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com.  When adding the bug, please include any source code, project or installer that will help us reproduce the issue internally.  If you'd like to keep your code private, feel free to email it directly to [email protected]  Once entered, please post back with the URL so that others effected can add their comments and votes.

  • Sharing custom display profiles between multiple users

    Hello,
I'm brand new to Mountain Lion and I can't figure out how to share a custom display profile between multiple users on the same MBP. I'm a photographer and I have two users set up on my laptop - one personal and one for shooting. I'm using a Color Munki to calibrate my external monitor and the software creates a profile.
Previously, I could go into my library, copy the profile and drag it into the colorsync folder for my other user, then switch to my other user and find that profile in system preferences/displays.
I have no idea how to do this in Mountain Lion.

Let me simplify this by refering to User A and User B to represent the two separate users I've created on my MBP.
I've done some more digging and here's what I've found: In the Color Sync utility for User A my custom profile is in a user folder, represented by the name I gave the file when the profile was created. That's no problem
When I switch to the User B, there are two profiles in the Color Sync Utility named "Display". The "Display" file was created at the same time my custom profile was created, however, the file names don't match and I don't know why there are two of them.
I'm fairly certain that "Display" profile is the custom profile I want to use, but there's a problem coming down the road: what's going to happen when I profile my monitor again in 3 weeks.

  • TS3104 Keyboard viewer appears during Fast User Switching in Mac OS X 10.7

Apple Article TS3104 addresses Keyboard Viewer appearing during Fast User Switching in Mac OS X 10.6. I am running OS X 10.7, Lion, and have the same problem: when logging into a different account, Keyboard Viewer appears several seconds after the Password dialog box appears. However, the solution posted for 10.6 does not work: clicking Hide Keyboard Viewer during Fast User Switching dismisses the password dialog box and then does close the Keyboard Viewer, but the problem recurs the next time an attempt is made to switch users. Any ideas?

As of this evening, the Keyboard viewer problem is no longer appearing. Earlier today I installed updates for AirPort Utility to version 6.3, Safari to version 6.0.5 and iTunes to version 11.0.4: is there some connection? There have been no other recent system changes or software updates.

    Hi  VlH,
According to your description, the issue can be caused by the Profile or Profile Values table.
You can check the event log and ULS log to see detail error message.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

    Hi Noemi
You can use the enchancement PPCO0007 (exit when the production order is saved).
Use the function module EXIT_SAPLCOZV_001 (User Exit for Checking or Changing Header Fields During Order Save) to update the field priority starting the information in the material-customer info record.

  • Change message in display message to user dynamically?

I want to have the Display Message to User vi pop up and notify the user that the computer will reboot in x number of seconds, where x is constantly decreasing. Is this possible? I have tried sticking it in a for loop and the message won't change without clicking on the button. Also, when the time does reach zero, how can I have it destroy that pop up box?

you can't use Display Message unless you convert it to a normal VI and do a lot of modification. It simple though, to create your own pop-up that does what you want. Look at the subVI in the attached file. It uses the Elaspsed Time function to create the time left and the window appearance properties to show and then close itself. There are also some shipping examples on creating your own dialog box or pop-ups.
