Randomly jumping pages

I'm trying to study from a huge 600 page document, and can't figure out why Pages every now and then decides to jump ahead like 45 pages. It seems to jump to the end of the section each time. It's getting annoying because in a document that big, it takes a few minutes to find my spot again. Any ideas?

Yes, it is a table with a billion rows and just a couple of columns... organized like flashcards with a question in one column and the answer in the next, then another row with another question, etc.. I did try splitting it into a bunch of smaller documents but for whatever reason, the formatting gets messed up each time because it was created in landscape layout in Word, so when I try splitting for whatever reason it kept putting it into portrait layout and cutting off a bunch of text from one of the columns. I tried a couple times but got frustrated because as slow as it scrolls on a document that big, it takes forever to select a chunk of text to copy it to a new document. Also it tends to make Pages crash cutting and pasting that much. Or is there an easier way to do this?

  • Web pages randomly jump back

Web pages randomly jump back a page or two for no reason. It sometimes happens when I'm not touching the trackpad or the magic mouse. I am using a MacBook Pro O SX Version 10.7.4. It happens with Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome.

I'm having that problem with Firefox, but as I'm on the beta release, I thought that it was just a bug in Firefox. I seldom use Safari and never use Chrome, so I don't know if it's just an occasional problem with the OS or with my MacBook Pro.

  • Wired mouse randomly jumps to corner

For months if not over a year now I've had an Apple mouse (model no A1152, EMC No 2058) which randomly jumps to a corner. It's nothing to do with the pad graphic as I bought a new one thinking this. The cursor will stay in the corner forever unless I lift the mouse from the pad and when it's placed back down it release. It's seriously annoying. I've swapped to the one my wife uses on her Mac BookPro (model no 5769 EMC No 1967) and the same thing happens. She is using my mouse and hasn't noticed it happening on the MBP!
To eliminate any further causes, I've also added a new drive to my MP and installed 10.6.8 (was on 10.5.8 on other drive) so effectively I'm working on a new machine!
Does anyone have any suggestions for the cause?
    Thanks

  • When watching youtube the video randomly jumps to the start of the video even if the cursor is not on the video.

When watching youtube the video randomly jumps to the start of the video even if the cursor is not on the video. This happens randomly and does not seem to be a problem with the videos as they run fine. what is going on?

Several times every day YouTube shuts down some of their servers to update stuff. Be patient if YouTube is slow, stuck or mangled. Transmissions from YouTube to your computer are done in multiple tiny packets of data and flash at a time. That's why sometimes you may get any of these scenarios: bits and pieces of text/thumbnails in weird places; sluggish loading/buffering; the spinning circle going on forever; or the player being blank. This problem could fix itself within a few hours or by the next day.
If your YouTube continues to behave slow, stuck or strange, it's very possible that your directories of "temporary internet files" and RAM (sometimes known as "cache") are close to the maximum and just cannot take anymore, the end result being any of the above scenarios or videos that: A) come to a complete freeze; B) start/stop/start/stop in a choppy way; or C) never even make it onto your screen.
"Temporary internet files" are tiny bits of webpages that get permanently put on your hard-drive. They will remain forever on your computer, gradually plugging it up like hair stuck in a sink drain, until you finally get rid of them once and for all. Thus, exit out of YouTube, then clear your "cache" of all its "temporary internet files", "cookies" and "history". It is best if you shutdown and reboot afterwards. You'll be amazed at how "fresh" and "new" your YouTube will be.

  • , and jump pages. Is there a way to access the keyboard.. to clean?d

Help! it has taken me 1/2 hour to write this. The keys on the right hand side of my computer, will cause the cursor to ,
jump backwards, delete whole lines of text, and wreck havoc with anything I attempt to do. Jump pages, etc. Just moving the cursor via trackpad will open of close webpages, and send e-mails to those not intended.  Maybe, something is gumming up the keyboard. Is there a way to remove cover and clean?
Or is it a heat up problem. I can't keep buying a new computer every five years. Have had Macs since 94'. But, wallet thinner, must go to PC if can't fix this one. I have 5 others upstairs that can't find anyone that can fix.

    Hello,
It could be  stuck key. (or keys)
You can try cleaning the keys, here is how you can do that.
    http://mij.oltrelinux.com/ibook/cleaning_keyboard/
Pop the caps off and clean around them.
If that doesn't work then you may require a new keyboard.
Here is how to remove and replace an iBook keyboard.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Replacing+iBook+G4+12-Inch+800+MHz-1.2+GHz+Keyboard/ 155/1
Should it require a new keyboard, they can be replaced very cheaply.
Remember to get the right one for your iBook (i.e 14" or 12" models differ)

  • Retina Macbook Pro randomly jumps to logon screen without warning

My Retina Macbook Pro randomly jumps to the logon screen while I am using it. When I log back in some programs have stopped running and any unsaved work has gone. It has happened while I am not typing or touching the keyboard or mouse as well.

I have the exact same problem with my Retina MBP. At first I thought it was occurring when I CMD+Tab-ed between apps but I've had it jump to the login screen without even toughing the computer. Very frustrating. Upon login I have to wait for apps to reload and I lose unsaved changes. Anyone have any advice?

  • Using C4795 printer for 4X6 photo printing. Prints not registered, can start randomly on page, skip

C4795, printing 4X6 photos with new iMAC and iPhoto software.  Downloaded latest drivers.  Printing starts randomly on page,
sometimes skipping half a page, sometimes just a sliver.  Prints are OK with my other 8150 printer, but not 4795.  Any ideas?
    Thanks, John

    Hi John.
Perhaps it's a printer configuration problem (maybe the paper size is set to a different value than what's in the printer), but you may want to try printing with HP Photo Creations as a test. The program is a free download from www.hp.com/go/hppc, and can load photos from your iPhoto library.
Here's a quick tutorial on printing 4x6 photos with HP Photo Creations:

  • Adobe Reader: Jumping pages

    Hi,
As there does not exist a newspaper app for BlackBerry OS10 for my daily newspaper I have to download the newspaper as PDF-file, the size is between 10 and 90MB. The preinstalled Adobe Reader would be great, but when scrolling within the document and zooming into the PDF file resp. the text, the Adobe Reader often jumps to another page, e.g. from page 5 to page 20. This is not a good user experience!
With my older BlackBerry devices I never had such an issue!
Is BlackBerry aware of this "Jumping-pages-problem" and is there a software solution on the way to solve it?

Can you please do the following in Reader:
    Click Edit, Preferences.
    Choose Documents.
Check the box marked, Restore last view settings when reopening documents.
    This should do the trick.

  • I photo takes pictures of random web pages, about 55,000.

i photo takes pictures of random web pages, about 55,000.  how can i stop this?

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Curser randomly jumping, hightlighting, deleting, self-scrolling...BARELY got this typed...

(It took me over an hour and many attempts to type/re-type this as the curser “took control”, kept deleting, etc…) My Pavilion dv5 curser is randomly jumping, highlighting, deleting, self-scrolling.
This problem subsides for periods of time as unexpectedly as it re-appears. I have ruled out “accidently touching touchpad” or “adjusting sensitivity” I use only a mouse and never the touchpad (which has always been unpredictable despite sensitivity adjustments)
…I posted something about this last year as well. I have very good security and have never had any other hacking issues, only this curser thing. What a waste of a morning! This is so frustrating!!!

Sanchertx has gives good solution, I just want you to try touchpad management tool, you can freely disable/enable any function of the touchpad.
    google "Synaptics touchpad tool"

  • My trackpad on my laptop is freezing, jumping pages? HELP! I bought a wireless trackpad,

My trackpad to my laptop is freaking out. Freezing, Jumping pages. I won't touch it & it still freaks. We bought a wireless trackpad & it still flips. I don't know what's wrong. Please help.

  • Random jump to previous page

My daughter, who uses two separate Macs, reports:
"Occasionally if I'm browsing in Firefox or in the Finder it will suddenly jump to the previous page without me knowingly doing anything."
    She later added:
"It just flips back to the previous page when I'm browsing (often in the middle of reading or writing something on a web page). I'm usually holding the mouse, but not pressing anything - which is why it is so strange. Different websites, but it also happens in the Finder too - just flips back to the previous folder. Only started happening since last updates of the OS."
Has anybody else had this? Is it a known bug?

Thanks for your help. Sorry to take so long - communication delays - she is in Washington and I am in the UK.
She says that her work Mac has a Magic Mouse and your answer helped resolve the problem on that one but she still has the issue with her trackpad on her home Mac. This is what she said:
"My work computer mouse seems to be more sensitive to swiping left to right since I turned off the scrolling up and down (was driving me mad in Powerpoint) and even the tiniest motion will now set it off and send me back a page. There isn't any way to change this as far as I can tell. I'm still confused on my home computer as the same motion on a trackpad requires 3 fingers and I can't get it to do it how ever much I purposefully try, but yet sometimes it does it spontaneously when I'm not trying."

  • Mouse randomly jumping while using most tools in Photoshop CS4 and CS5.

    Hi,
I have recently been using my photoshop cs5 when all of a sudden the mouse has began to jump and move randomly when I am using some of the tools. For example, when I use the eraser tool it will not always, but frequently erase something in a random position on the page, and this is becoming a pain as I can be editing something zoomed right in and zoom out to find random areas of my drawing gone which can be very frustrating, but this problem is not restricted to the eraser tool, when I transform shapes with the transform tool occassional it will stretch the shape 4000pixels wide when I only go to increase it by 5, or when i try to move it, it just disappears and I find it outside of the drawing canvas.
This is really causing alot of issues for me, so how can I resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Ben.

Ok I am going to toss some thing out, they may sound silly or redundant but these are things we simply do not know that could cause issues.
What type of mouse pad do you have?
Highly reflective or worn smooth mouse pads or using desktop surfaces rather then a mouse pad can cause light distortion and cause jumppy behavior uneven survaces or highly reflective survfaces are bad too. the same can be said about overly light absorbent surfaces. as they can spread the light. Like if you are like me and have a wide arm cloth chair, you still need a mouse pad on the arm of the chair or your mouse pointer will jump as it travels accross the uneven surface.
Do you have any other usb devices installed?
Are you plugged into a USB hub and not the computer directly?
Is it possable its your keyboard thats causing the issue. Unplug the KB then see if the mouse still jumps.
let me know if any of this helpped.
