Randomly jumpy mighty mouse (bt) pointer and trackpad too (once only)

Gents,
I have recently noted that, sometimes (randomly and rarely for the time being), the pointer of my bluetooth MM (Mighty Mouse) moves farther than what I was expecting it to move. This happened probably in concomitance with the opening of some application, as Iphoto. In other words, it appeared to me that the pointer accelerated more than what I demanded it to move with the displacement of the mouse. It was not really a jump but almost one, like a transitory, but contained, loss of pointer control.
I believe that a similar event occurred also once with the trackpad pointer when I went to the bottom of the screen to make dock appear in concomitance with a skype call launch....the pointer seemed to move fast to the right although I am quite sure it was not my finger to command this motion on the pad.
I have tried (with respect to MM) to delete and recreate the bluetooth .plist but it did not prevent from having this occurrence (note also that the batteries are OK).
I have read in some other forum that this might be due to OSX pointer acceleration (not perfect) management, but I would like to be comforted by any similar feedback / experience of yours.
Thanks
Cheers

I had a similar problem. I would move my mouse across the screen but randomly it would "catch" or "get stuck" very briefly throughout its movement. Like something was holding it back. I tried replacing mousepads, deleting the Bluetooh connection and re-pairing, deleting preference files...nothing. I even tried buying two new mice but they all had the same problem.
I headed to an Apple Store and a Genius reproduced the problem. He had not heard of this before but it was clearly reproducible in front of his eyes. And sure enough, my Mighty Mouse was working fine on other Macs. So they set up repair job to replace my Bluetooth chipset (which is integrated into the display so they had to replace the display). A day later I picked it up and it works perfectly!
I suggest going to an Apple Store and getting your Bluetooth chip replaced!

  • Difference between Apple Mighty Mouse MB112LL/A and MB112LL/B?

What's the difference between the wired Apple Mighty Mouse MB112LL/A and MB112LL/B?

I did a search for "MB112LL/A" on the Apple support website:
As you can see, it comes up in several pages giving information about the Mac Mini and MacBook, where it's given as the part number for the Apple Mouse in the "Options" section, under "Configure-To-Order." A search for MB112LL/B turns up no results of this sort.
Furthermore, the Apple Online Store sells the /B part but not the /A part. So it seems logical to assume that the /A is offered only as a CTO part, and the /B is a standalone part.
Like I said, I'm not sure that the difference is the configure-to-order status. It's just an educated guess.

  • When I use the selection tool to move vector points and bend edges, I only see the change in wire frame.

When I use the selection tool to move vector points and bend edges, I only see the change in wire frame.  Once I commit by letting go of the mouse button, the object does change.  It just previews with a wire frame. I would like to see the preview change on the solid object.  Is there a setting somewhere?
I sure hope I am explaining this for people to understand .
    Thanks

    Hi Ed,
What do you mean by wire frame??And are you using selection or sub-selection tool since you have mentioned about vector point I doubt if it is sub-selection tool.Could you please attach a video demonstrating the issue where we see the mismatch in the preview and the output, so that we can understand the problem better and try to resolve it.
    Thanks,

  • Windows 7 and Wireless Mighty Mouse, Wireless Keyboard and sound problem

    Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my iMac 24" white ( OS X Leopard 10.5 ). Surprisingly, it installed without any problems. The only problems I have now are the Wireless Mighty Mouse and the Wireless Keyboard ( alu ).
After I installed Windows I inserted the Leopard Instal DVD and installed Boot Camp. I got a message right away saying that: "This program has known compatibility issues...". I clicked Run program and continued. Soon I got the same warning, but this time not for Boot Camp, but Intel Chipset Device Software. I clicked Run program yet again and it continued installing. Then I got a different warning: "Service KeyAgent' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I clicked Ignore and installation continued. I got another "Service Mac HAL' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." warning, clicked Ignore again and after that it finished soon and I restarted the computer.
When I came back into Windows there was no Apple folder anywhere or any sign that I have just installed Boot Camp ( should there be? )
I installed Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP ( because Vista x64 version wouldn't start ) and basically I got the same warnings I did when I installed Boot Camp from the Leopard DVD ( described above ). I also tried to instal Boot Camp Update 2.2 for Windows, but it didn't start. I also downloaded Bluetooth Update 1.0, but all I got was a message saying: "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed.".
    There is also no sound.
This is basically it, I really hope some of you who run Windows 7 with wireless keyboards and mice can help me, because I desperately need this to work ( I use a Windows only program for school ).
PS. I have a 2007 iMac 24" white and while it is not on the we're-not-supporting-that list for the infamous Windows 7 Boot Camp update, all other iMacs from its generation are. Any ideas?

Found a solution for the "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" message. Here is the link: http://www.techulous.com/hardware/how-to-apple-boot-camp-64-bit-for-windows-7-on -unsupported-macs.html
Everything works ( for ) now. Yay!

  • Mighty Mouse, Programmable Buttons, and Universal Access

I give up. I asked the folks at the Apple Store if I could program the Mighty Mouse such that one of the "primary" buttons could perform a "double-click" and the other "primary" button perform a "single-click" (i.e., so I don't have to push my finger down twice to both select and open an item). I was told the MM was "fully programmable" but if I can't make the thing do that, I wouldn't call that "fully" programmable. Not good for those of us with severe hand and arm problems and any hand surgeon, PT, OT, and ergonomist will tell you that this is a big deal - all the clicking and finger pushing.
Maybe I'm not seeing something or some way to do this, please advise. I have a Kensington old wired mouse recommended by many ergonomists and PTherapists for this reason but thought that with the advent of Apple's new MMouse, Apple would have thought of this and allowed for such programmability in this new mouse. Too bad... I'll likely have to return it unless one of you can tell me how to program one of those buttons to do the 'double-clicking' for me for the price of 1 click.

Can it be programmed, though, such that one click on an item will both select and open it? Please let me know. It seems impossible to get answers to this question from mouse manufacturers. I have now waited almost a week for Kensington to answer me even after calling and talking to a supposed "technician".

  • (Mighty) Mouse with Windows7 and BootCamp

    Hi,
I am trying to get my Mighty Mouse running on Windows7 using Bootcamp. I have read several threads but it still does not work!
What is more problematic: I am using my old USB mouse from my Quicksilver mac (a "Pro Mouse" - transparent look), and even here I cannot manage to get the right click enabled properly...
When I click on the "Add Bluetooth device" button in the system settings, the mighty mouse is found, but the installation is not finished and I am not able to right click on it (because of the problems with the existing USB mouse), in order to change some settings of it ... if that would be possible..
    Any ideas?
    PS:
iMac (2007), Snow Leopard, BootCamp says version 4.0 (from Windows System Control)

Found some hint in the web that fixed my issue:
    http://maclord.ozarweb.com/mevzu/resolved-apple-magic-mouse-problem-on-windows/
It seems as if I really had to remove the mouse in MacOS from the bluetooth device list.

  • AVRCP Buetooth issues with Mighty Mouse interference (?) and SONY CMT-HX5BT

    Hello:
Just got a SONY Bluetooth enabled mini stereo system (CMT-HX5BT). Knowing my iMac with OS X 10.4 doesn't support AVRCP Bluetooth (another issue entirely!) I downloaded the Softstick Audio Gateway for Mac. This will allow me to play my iTunes music on the SONY stereo. However, when the Mighty Mouse is switched on, the playback is exceptionally fragmented and almost non-existent except very short bursts. When the MM is switched off everything works wonderfully.
I am hoping that whomever is responsible for BT in general did think that BT Mice would be used at the same time as stereos/headphones. Hopefully this is an issue with something other than BT in general such as Softstick, the MM, or OS X. Any ideas?
Does anyone think upgrading to Leopard, and using the operating system's built -in AVRCP support be better than a third party application? Although I haven't found conclusive proof that OS X 10.5 actually has AVRCP support either. Does this mean Logitech will be getting my business as I switch back to a regular radio frequency cordless mouse?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for your answer, no problem... it's OK
why don't you try with OS X 10.5... I guess the A2DP is built in Leopard (natively)
Today I saw the CMT-HX5BT at the local shop, they obviously have no clue about its functionality with a Mac, but that mini hifi looks great and it's not even that expensive...
maybe I should buy it anyway...

  • Mighty Mouse Scrolls Vertically in one position (down) only

I've been using my wireless mighty mouse for about 1 year and it worked fine. recently, I lost the ability to scroll vertically down.
Has anyone had that problem and/or has any idea on how to fix it.
I would certainly appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

    Neil,
Thank you very much. Because the dirt was not visible and I thought I had kept my equipment clean, I never expected that dirt would have been my problem. However, it was.
Thanks again, I really appreciate this.

  • Mighty Mouse/ OS Tiger and Apple Studio Display

Not really sure that this topic should go here or in the studio area, but here goes. A few months back I updated my G5 to apple OS X 10.4.x. Up until that point, I had a USB mightly mouse plugged into my 17" apple studio display and could restart my system with no issues.
After updating to 10.4.x, when I boot my system, the USB mightly mouse acts only as a USB mouse and is very sensitive to movement. When I move the mouse a small amount, the point zips across the entire screen.
Once the system is up - if I unplug the mouse from the display and replug it in, then it works correctly and is not sensitive - that is, it acts like it should with the settings I have setup for "speed" in the control panel.
I have searched high and low for others with the same issue and have come up empty. Anyone with any ideas?
    Thanks
    Brian

To clarify, upon restarting, the system sees the mouse as a two button USB mouse. Once the system is up, when I unplug the mouse and plug it bak in, the keyboard/mouse control panel, switches to reflect that this is a USB mightly mouse with all the various options.
This same behavior occurs when I use the USB port on the front of the G5's case.
Currently under the System Information ( apple in the upper left corner of the screen ), the system lists the mouse as an Apple Opticl Mouse, version 1.08
    Thanks

  • Activing Mighty Mouse "Zoom using" and "Scrolling options" prefs

    According to:
    http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/software.html
there should be "Zoom using scroll ball... " and "Scrolling options" popups in Mouse preferences, but I only see:
I'm running 10.4.7 and ran the Mouse software installer. How do I get these additional options to appear?
    PowerBook G4/1.67 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   7200rpm 100 GB HD, 2 GB RAM

The 10.4.8 update adds the scroll-wheel zooming
    feature for all mice.
Really? It hadn't done so on my Mac. I ran the usual privileges, etc., routines beforehand. I can't even recall it being mentioned in the release notes or their detailed specs. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304200
Anway, 10.4.8 didn't affect a change to the keyboard/mouse pref on my PPC so I used Pacifist to get at the additional MM features.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard and Mighty Mouse disconnecting

I've been having a problem with my keyboard and mouse (both connected by bluetooth) disconnecting while I'm using them or disconnecting in the middle of the night and my computer wakes up to tell me about it. The latter doesn't seem that bad, but my computer is next to my bed and it's really bright when you're about to fall asleep. I know there have been previous posts about this that I've found, but they've all been archived with no solutions. I've tried deleting the pairing information and reconnecting, but from time to time, my mighty mouse will disconnect and will not reconnect. I usually have to power down completely, turn off the mouse, walk away for a little while, and then when I restart my iMac, it will tell me there's no mouse connected and will finally reconnect to it.
If anyone has anything they can tell me about how to fix this problem, or at least tell me how to disable the computer from waking up when the keyboard/mouse is lost, I'd appreciate it.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
"disconnecting in the middle of the night and my computer wakes up to tell me about it."
Open System Preferences/Bluetooth. In the Bluetooth pane click Advanced. Deselect "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer"
As for disconnecting. Have you replaced the batteries lately? System Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse/Bluetooth. If you are down to one green bar, change the batteries.

  • Mighty Mouse problem with duo core intel mac mini & 26" LCD/TV display

I have an Olevia 26" LCD/TV display connected to my Intel Duo core mac mini and I have been using a Mighty Mouse with it from the start but all of a sudden the mouse pointer will not come out of the upper right corner. It moves out a little and then pops back into the corner.
I connected the Mighty Mouse to my g4 PowerBook and it tracks and scrolls fine. I've also cleaned it and tried it on a solid, dark service while connected to the mac mini and those things don't help either.
Any suggestions anyone. I've been using the Mighty Mouse for months and I love especially the ability to scroll horizonitally as I use Final Cut Pro and that features is GREAT in the timeline window.
I can't seem to find anything here in the discussions specifcally with this issue so any guidance would be appreciated!

    hi there--
if all is fine on the install disk, run disk repair http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672. if not, i would reset the open firmware. do this by holding apple-option-o-f on keyboard while you start up and you get a screen that says "welcome to open firmware". type in following commands, without quotations-- "reset-nvram" (hit return) and "reset-all" (hit return). second command restarts the computer. good luck.[:)]

  • Mighty Mouse/Mice "Freezes" On Windows 7 w/ iMac... Solutions?

    Hi.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a Mac OSX 10.7 using Bootcamp 3.0.
I'm using an iMac 21.5" Late 2009 model.
There seems to be some connectivity issues with Mighty Mouse's Bluetooth and Windows 7.
As I tend to move the mouse, it begins to "glitch up" and freeze... this happens randomly
at any given moment for a couple of seconds.Sort of a jerkiness motion. Before it would make
    a "BEEP" sound.
I've already taken some measures to solving this issue.
    1. Through services.msc, I set "connectivity" to Automatic
    2. Through the Bluetooth settings on system tray, it does NOT alert for connectivity.
Despite these resolution attempts it still doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone have a solution to make the Mighty Mice work properly?
    Thanks for your help.

There is a Boot Camp forum, because your issue only seems to be with in Win 7 I'd recommend reposting there.
