Randomly opens front row

I'll be doing things like typing in adium of surfing around online when all of a sudden (on my no apple remote g5) front row will kill what ever music is playing in itunes and the front row screen will come on. i can't figure out what is causing front row to open unexpectedly.
any ideas?

No ATI Remote thingy. I am using SizzlingKeys which remaps some of the function keys so I can control iTunes... but this shouldn't be a problem.
I have deactivated the default shortcut for FrontRow (Cmd-ESC) of course.

Is there a way to open Front Row without the remote?

I wonder, is there some keyboard shortcut that will open front row?
I ask because a while ago I was about to force-quit an application(cmdoptesc), and then I cancelled(esc) that and toggled to another application's window(cmd+tab), etc., all of this using only the keyboard. But because of the application that wasn't working right, things got slow, and after waiting a couple of seconds for the other window to appear... Fron Row just appeared in front of me!!!
I don't know if it was some keyboard shortcut that i accidentally pressed, or just a bug. Does enyone know?

Opening Front Row Using Applescript

I have created a sleep timer for Front Row but I would like if Front Row would open when I run the sleep timer. I have tried the normal activate command as well as open and launch but none of these open front row.
Can anyone show me some code that will open Front Row automatically?

I was wondering if it was possibly to use the keyboard shortcut to activate front row. the command escape keys pressed together open front row. I dont know how to do that using applescript though.

Open Front Row at startup

I am going to be using my Mac Mini as an Apple TV of sorts. I out OS 10.4 on it so that it would run faster and I am a little rusty on my OS 10.4 skills. OS my question is there a way to have front row open automatically when the computer boots.

When I press the menu button on the remote or I press Command Escape it comes up so I know it is installed. Now it is not in the Applications folder, or in the core services folder. Also a search through spotlight turns up nothing.

To open Front Row, why do you have to hit the menu button twice?

I notice that when I first restart my computer and want to access front row via the apple remote, I have to hit the menu button twice to activate it. Does anybody know why this is?

Not sure, but I don't think FrontRow is set to run when you start the computer. When you click the menu button it'll start up the program - this will take a little time.
Just a though, but maybe you're not giving it long enough after the first button click to start up and enter FrontRow? Since I rarely reboot my Mac (just put it to sleep) I haven't experienced your problem.

Front Row Randomly Starts Up

Hey everyone,
I own a white MacBook and I am using the latest version of OS X. There is a problem with Front Row. The issue is that it randomly starts up without me clicking it or launching it. It's not even on my dock. So I find myself pressing the Escape key a lot now. I don't know why it happens. I never really use Front Row, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this and help me out? I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

If you don't need to use Front Row, you might use the Security System Preferences to disable the IR receiver. Perhaps some device in your environment is triggering the IR receiver and opening Front Row?

Apple control - Front Row takes a long time to open through the Menu Butto?

I am using a ManMini as a HTPC. Front Row is being used as my Media Choice. When I click the Menu Button Front Row may not open or it may take a very longtime to activate.

If you use the Accounts System Preferences to create a brand new user, log out and log in as the new user, how long does it take the new user to open Front Row with the remote? If it's just as slow, you have a system-wide issue. If Front Row opens quickly for the new user, then your original user may have a movie, song or picture that's taking a long time for your Front Row to access. Let us know what you find out from this troubleshooting step.

Front Row tiger problem [only works when iTunes already open]

Ok this has never happened before and don't know why its started to happen;
When I open up front row and go to movies,playlists or artists etc and click select, the little circling buffer symbol comes up and stays there. Nothing happens so I just have to force quit out of it.
But, if I already have iTunes open, and then open up front row, and can select and play anything from within front row.
Before I was always able to open front row without itunes already being open.
Then only thing that I thought could be contributing was that a few days ago I installed you control: tunes which is an iTunes controller that stays in the menu bar.
But even if i have this running or not, the problem with front row still persists.
I've repaired any permissions I had but still no luck.
Any suggestions??

I apologise but there IS a new .plist file in ~/user/library/preferences. Still no fix though.
I'm assuming its the first link I need because the second one is for leopard.
When I try and install the .pkg I get an alert that says:
'This software update requires a Macintosh with a built in IR receiver running Mac OS X 10.4.5'. I am running 10.4.11 and my apple remote is working just fine???
I had Remote Buddy installed, thinkng that that may be causing the problem, but after uninstalling that, the problem still persists.

Why does front row keep on pausing playback?

I'm using my LCD tv as an extended display and as the main desktop. I freshly reinstalled SL and updated it to 10.6.5. Front row keeps on pausing the playback randomly. Note that its not stuttering. As soon as I hit Play on my apple remote, it resumes playback.
any guesses?

Why does front row launch, Why does front row launch

Why my new Apple TV, I noticed that occasionally iTunes will start playing a random song while I am watching a video on AppleTV that is being streamed from my mac. I also noticed that Front row will launch. How do I get my mac to just stay idle and let the apple tv do all the work? This is inconvenient especially if I am trying to do work at the same time. I might add that I am using 10,6,8 and the newest apple tv available

Play photo album in front row

Hi,
I am having trouble getting my photo albums to play via front row. I have numerous albums but when i go into them in front row, it just shows up random photos from the album and roll they came from, with none of the album pages showing. The photo roll and the name of the albums is the same ie: roll called sweden, album called sweden, would that be causing a problem, ie: iphoto unsure of which photos to show? They play fine in iphoto, with all of the album pages showing, but not in front row.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting a little frusterated!!

Yes, Front Row handles DVDs fine. If Front Row is already open, a new section called DVDs appears after the Mac reads and mounts the disc. If you insert the DVD and let it be read and mounted first the new DVD section will be there when you open Front Row.

Front Row movie trailers internet connection

Hello,
I have search everywhere and I haven't found a solution to my problem.
When I open Front Row to watch movie trailers online, it tells me I'm not connected to the internet. But, I am connected to the internet !
In many discussions (and it also seems to be Apple's answer) I read that the problem seems to be solve by plugging an ethernet cable even if you're using a wireless connection (airport).
The thing is, I'm not using a wireless connection. My modem is plug in my computer with an ethernet cable.
Can someone has experienced this and has solve it ?

i just opened my new macPro last night (Version 10.6.1). the first thing i did was use an ethernet cable to move my apps from my macbookPro (Version 10.5.8).
after a while of playing around with the new macpro i discovered that when i went into front row for movie trailers, it would not connect to the internet, or says im not connected (which i am). normally i dont think i would give a hoot about something so silly but is a brand new out of the box $6,000 system and its nice to know that it works like it should.
im connecting to the internet using airport wireless thru a buffalo router and cable modem.
Anyway, i randomly tried hooking up the ethernet wire from my macPro to my macbookPro and went into front row. it worked!! ????? so whats up? does anybody have some thoughts or ideas about this? i just spent over an hour on the phone with a mac tec, trying various maneuvers and nothing has been resolved.

Why do I have Japanese iTunes in my Front Row?

In Front Row, when I got to Music, it has two iTunes items at the top of the list. But they are in Japenese... what gives? Best I can tell, they are album samples of random Japanese music.

actually guys if you log into the guest account and open front row things should be correct. if that is the case, then copy the plist from the guest account and put it in your account and all is fixed. I have verified on 3 macbooks that had this problem.
