Randomly shuts off in the middle of songs.

My brand new nano randomly pauses and shuts off in the middle of songs...help!

Same thing happened to mine. Im trying to figure out if its under warranty but i dont remember the date i bought it on. i think its the headphone jack. This seems to be real common. Its supposed to pause when unplugged but mine doesnt. then when the screen goes to sleep it will pause. Real strange. Poor design. I hate the unplug pause feature for this reason. Mine will play if I keep my finger on the screen or keep it plugged into the charger.

  • Ipod nano shuts off in the middle of songs

Received a 6th generation ipod nano for Christmas, and it frequently stops playing in the middle of songs and shuts down. Anyone have any ideas? Battery power is not the issue as it has happened with the battery at nearly full charge, and also with it at less than half charge. I can usually turn it back on again, but sometimes it is more difficult. Headphones are fully plugged in so that is not the issue. Is the device defective?

If you are positive the headphones are plugged ALL the way in, meaning the white part of the headphones are flush with the Nano, also check to make sure the headphone jack is clean and clear of debris.
Otherwise, bring it in for service as it may be a hardware malfunction with the headphone jack.

I see that your notebook is not detecting the hard drive. Start by doing a Hard Reset to see if it detects the hard drive. You can try accessing your BIOS to see if it still sees the hard drive there. How long have you had the notebook for?

  • IPod shuts down in the middle of songs

I am on my second iPod touch due to this problem and I'm getting very frustrated.
I can either be on the internet, listening to a song, or scrolling through albums and the iPod will freeze for a second and go back to the main screen. This has been starting to happen a lot lately. For instance, on my half hour drive home from work it shut off 5 times in the middle of songs when I am not even touching it.
The battery is charged and I have the latest software on it.
    Please help me...

+1. This happens occasionally for me. Been going on for a while both on iPhone 3G and 4.

  • I have a 64gb ipad mini that's been updated to iOS 7.0.4. Lately it's been randomely shutting down in the middle of a screen.

I have a 64gb ipad mini that's been updated to iOS 7.0.4. Lately it's been shutting down in the middle of almost any app and the screen goes black and then the apple logo appears as if I've done a hard reset. I've tried both soft and hard resets but with no results. Sometimes thes happens several times in a row. Does anyone have any ideas? I did read discussions and close running apps to make sure there is enough memory. In the past this sort of happened (rarely) and it just left an app and went to the home screen, but this is a total shutdown.

I think you have covered most of everything that you could possibly do at this point other than restoring the iPad iOS software. That's what I would try now. If that doesn't fix it, make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask a genius to evaluate the problem for you.

  • Blackberry Pearl 8100 randomly shuts off and the status LED flashes red

My pearl was reciently unlocked and changed from AT&T service to t-mobile. after this switch the pearl started having fits of rage where it will turn off randomly, weather any keys have been hit or even if it is idle. the device LED then flashes red, sometimes once, other times it will flash once every 4 seconds for hours. then it will randomly turn back on either to the exact screen it had been on before it powered off or it will reboot completley and start the normal start-up procedure and varify security checks just as if the battery were removed. i tried removing the batery and leaving the phone disassymbled for a few nights but in the morning the plague is back and unrelenting. sometimes all i have to do it pick the device up and it will shut off. other times i will be plugging away with it for 20 or so minutes on the internet and then it will die suddenly. it also cuts out in the middle of phone calls. if anyone can help, please let me know.
    blackberry 8100 v4.2.1.96

Is it a new phone? If it's less then a month old see if you can return it, otherwise you can try reloading the OS.
So if you're willing to try that, do the following.
First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.6 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Next you can use the Backup and Restore feature present in the software to make a backup of all the data on your phone.
Next download and install the handheld software from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found here:

  • IPHONE RANDOMLY SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OPERATION

My iphone has taken to shutting down and displaying the Apple logo- can be in the middle of a call, or typing a text, or opening an e-mail. It will go to sleep for a minute(with the logo illuminated), maybe two then the home screen appears again, and the phone will then work faultlessly for an hour, maybe more, then it has another headfit and will crash several times inside an hour. I am running the most up to date version. Rebooting using the home button and off button simultaneously, has no effect. I have restored using itunes, several times- it still does it. I have deleted all the bought apps- to see if one of those was the cause. No better. Just running original apps supplied, still continues to have amind of its own, shutting down on a whim.
AM I ALONE IN EXPERIENCINMG THIS?

This is almost certainly a software issue. You should perform a restore on your computer. If this does not work you should make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store. However, I believe a restore should do the trick. Plug the phone in to your computer. Open up iTunes. Sync the phone. Then, from the summary page for the phone in iTunes hit the Restore button and let it do its thing. When it is done it will ask if you want to restore from the back up of your phone. Just say yes and all your information will be synced back over. Welcome to the Forums.

  • Can't re-download any purchased apps//app store constantly shuts off in the middle of searches.

After iOS 6 update--cant redownload any previously purchased apps from app store. App store constantly shuts off when in the middle of searches.

It happens to me almost every time but if you hold the power/sleep button and the home button for about 10 seconds to do a hard reset it usually works for me. I have an iPod touch 4G with ios6.

  • Phone dies and shuts off in the middle of call?

I have a Blackberry 8300 curve, had it now for almost 2 years. Recently with no incident (didn't drop, get wet etc.) my phone just shuts off without warning when I am talking. The battery life looks completely charged (it is always yellow now) but the phone just shuts off. I am hoping it is just a battery issue but Att jerk said I need a new phone of course. Love my phone and just want to make it work with minimal money spent. Do you think I just need a new battery? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forums fellas
This could be a battery issue, but I can't say for sure. Try to drain the battery to 15% percent and recharge to 100% again...sometimes the battery counter needs to reset so that it can accurately predict the charge left.
3rd party apps and themes can also cause issues. Did this behaviour start to occur after installing something new?
Also check your "file free" in Options>Status. Try to keep this number above 15000000 Bytes because low memory can cause issues as well.
A media card can also be the cause this. Either of you installed a new one recently? Try running without it to see if it is the cause or not.
Remember to do a battery pull every few days:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.
Post back with your results/findings and we can take it from there!

  • My new 8830 shuts off in the middle of the day sometimes

Hi I just got a new 8830 and find that on three occasions now I have had it strapped to my belt and noted that there was little activity. No calls, no emails. I pull it out of the holster to find it completely shut off and nothing starts it up again unless I take the battery out and re insert it? Should I return this unit now and replace it or am I missing something?

Try this and see if it solves the problem...
Go to Settings>Auto On/Off> Make sure they are both Disabled.
This feature turned the phone off and on at a certain time, this could be the reason why this is happening to you.

  • IPod keeps shutting off on the middle of movies

I have an iPod touch and everytime I get to certain part of by videos the iPod flickers and then completely shuts off. Its not the video files because they work fine on my iPod video. Any ideas why this is happening?

same problem, i tried to re sync them and it only changed the point at which the video stoped at. then i make an appiontment at the apple store "genius bar" and they told me that the problem was the way i was downloading the videos and that something might have gone wrong with the sync. then he gave me a new one and it had the new apps on it =) but then i synced the videos to my new ipod then happened again >:o so DONT bother going to the apple store to trade it in for a new one it will only happen again. i heard if you sync the videos with windows XP it will work fine!

  • I just loaded a few more songs and now it shuts off in the middle of the new songs on

Tried deleteing and reloading but it still does it only on those new ones. I had downloaded software updates prior to loading these new songs. What do I need to do to correct this? And how do you reload firmware which I am reading a lot about?

  • My IMac shuts off in the middle of an application.  How can I prevent this?

Frequently, when I am using my IMAC, the machine suddenly shuts down and then restarts. It is very frustrating and I have lost unsaved work on many occasions. Has anyone else run into the same problem and if so, how do I prevent it from happening in the future?

You are going to have to provide more information...
The only time I ever encountered this was when I went to do a service call on someone with a loose connection on the plug right in the back of his iMac. Not every time but often when he wiggled the screen to adjust it he moved the power bar and / or power cable just enough to momentarily break contact.
We plugged everything in securely and the problem never recurred...
If yours is shutting down & restarting because of a power circuit fault there must be a problem with it that should be looked at.
