Randomly start playback with first song

I have an iPod Touch 5th generation running iOS 6.1.3. I listen to music and audiobooks using iTunes using ear buds, or the lightning USB cable in my car. Every 5 to 10 times I plug it into my car USB, regardless of what I had been just listening to, it will start playing the alphabetically first song on the iPod. If I do not do anything, it will keep working through the songs in alphabetical order.
Why? This is very irritating when I'm listening to an audiobook.
It has been doing this through at least the previous 2-3 iOS updates.

Here it is:

I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod pluggedinto the MMI.  I mostly  listen to audio books, not a lot ofmusic.  The books are 4-6 hours long, vs 4-6minutes with a song.  Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book.  How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off?  I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning.  Thank you if anyone has any experience with this.  My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.

I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community.  Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I pause the song, and it resumes it on its own again. I'm not joking. So, I end up quiting out of itunes; but, it starts right back up again on its own. After quiting out of the app a few times, it eventually stops reopening; however, about an hour later (or less) it opens again. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP? I'm just about to delete itunes, because I've had enough of this crap. I hope someone can help. I've restarted the laptop, and it seemed like that fixed it, then itunes started up doing the same thing again an hour later. ituneshelper is unchecked; bluetooth is off; i only have speakers and a mouse plugged in (also charger).

Read this Apple Discussion Thread and possible solutions. The audio jack has been the main culprit, also certain sync and automation settings including connected remotes.

  • Re-start to the first song

Sometimes, my iPod video shuts down and starts playing the first song on Playlist (when it's playing or turned off). I think it's as the result of updating to 1.1 version, but I'm not sure.

Hi there Sing Me A Song,
You may have changed the Up Next list in iTunes. Take a look at the article below for more information on the Up Next lists and how to edit it.

  • `netctl` "randomly" started failing with ethernet interface.

I use netctl with the netctl-ifpluged service to start put up the ethernet. It stopped working, so I turned off `ifpluged` and tried manually starting the netctl profile. Doesn't work.
I get this output from `s systemctl status [email protected]`
    ● [email protected] - Networking for netctl profile wired
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]; static; vendor preset: disabled)

Jan 18 00:46:45 folio systemd[1]: [email protected] failed.
I don't have a clue what it means, except that my stuff failed. netctl does work with with my wireless interface, and dhcpcd works on the ethernet interface. It's just the combination of ethernet and netctl
here is a copy of my "wired" profile:
    Description='A basic dhcp ethernet connection'
    Interface=eno1
    Connection=ethernet
    IP=dhcp
On a presumably unrelated note, udev "randomly" changed the name of my *wireless* interface on a kernel upgrade a few days before this problem first occurred. The ethernet interface seems to have the same name. Probably not related, but I don't know the deep magic, and I thought that was also weird and network-related, so I figured I'd mention it.

    Try running this first:
    # ip l set <ethernet interface name> down
And then start the profile again.

Have you tried just using dhcpcd.service to bring the ethernet connection up?
This works for me -- genuine "plug & play"

  • Getting started again with recording songs

I have written several songs and I want to record, mix & edit them on my computer; I may also want to add video to some of the songs. I don't want to buy something like cakewalk if I can use an Adobe product that will work with PP CS4.
I already have PPCS4 that I have used to make a guitar set-up and adjusting tutiriol HD DVD that I am selling on Ebay. It comes with a tool kit and the video turned out great. Being somewhat familiar with Adobe products........,
my first, of what may be many question is: Can I use PP CS4 like a multi-track? Or do I need another application software, like Soundbooth or.........?
I will ty to keep my questions single bases, so I don't get confused with a lot of stuff all at once. LOL
    Thanks
    Jim

My advice is don't try to use Premiere Pro for recording audio. It has multiple audio tracks, but those are for editing, not recording. Soundbooth CS4 and CS5 do multi-tracks pretty well and the software is easy to use. But for heavy-duty editing with a lot of effects, racks and so forth, then use Adobe Audition. Soundbooth is mostly for light-duty editing and for editing the sound tracks of videos. Audition is a much more professional-quality tool and will interface with your instruments and other electronics. Just make sure to buy version 3.0 and not an older version on eBay (unless you're doing it just to qualify for an upgrade). Versions 1 and 2 have serious issues and might not even run on your machine.

  • Windows randomly starts up with red x on network

    Hi!
I work at a college and we have a Mac lab that we have dual booted. When they boot to the windows side we will randomly get a red X over the network Icon and no wired internet. Then you reboot the computer and it seems fine for several reboots but then another computer will have the issue. Again on reboot it is fine. I tried updating boot camp drivers through apple software updates but no luck. The machine is an IMac.

Definitely not a good situation to be in, as you never know who will call and complain of loosing connectivity.  Have you opened a ticket with TAC?
Unfortunately we don't get a lot of comments/questions on the SG series here.

  • My album i purchased a few months ago is not playing all the songs anymore. It will start off with one song playing and then sometimes not even half way it jumps to another song. I havent been on Itunes in awhile to mess with anything on that.

The album is Maroon 5 new cd. If anyone had problems with that. It is the only album that is not working right.

Is the Wi-Fi button greyed out?  Try this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Also, make a backup to iTunes of the device.  Then restore it as a new device.  If you still have wi-fi greyed out, then contact Apple again, and explain that you believe you have a hardware issue.  They may still ask for a $19 deposit, but if it is actually hardware related, then you won't be charged the $19.  Only if it is software related do you get charged that $19.

  • Zen Stone Plus Speaker. Browse music without starting the first song in the next fold

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure what I want is possible.
I've had this player for about a?week now and I believe I could browse to the folders while listening to a song. For some reason when I do that now the player?start playing the first song of every folder when I browse through it.
I'm starting to doubt if I remember it right that it was possible to browse through while listening to a song before?
I tried playing with the setting and even did the recovery tool thing to put the player back at the setting it came with. But it didn't work.
Anyone know if this is posible, and how?
    Thanks.

Tag support: the ability to select music by album/artist/track instead of folders
Display always on option - i know its to help save battery life but sometimes it would be helpful if the display stayed on
Display artist and song name, inst4ead of just the song name/file name
Alarm clock function: my Zen stone plus has a speaker, and a clock function. My Zen Xtra has a clock and an alarm clock function but no speaker other than headphones (if any are plugged in) for the alarm to sond through, the same is true with my visio:M? the Zen Stone plusw/speaker has a clock but no alarm, and if anything it would make a fantastic little alarm clock with a 'sound' to music or wsound to beep? function.

  • Weird problem with choosing song to play

Whenever I choose a song by going to Music -> Artists -> <the artist I want> -> Album -> and then a particular song, it always starts playing the FIRST song on the album, not the song I picked. Same thing happens if I try to play a song by going to Music -> Album -> and then song... whatever song I pick, the Nano will play the first song on the album instead. It's not the end of the world, but how annoying! I have "Restored" my Nano in an attempt to fix this, and at first the problem went away. Just today, though, it began doing it again. My Nano sees very little exposure to the elements or anything one would consider "harsh" use; basically goes from my night stand to work with me at the office and then back again. Anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks in advance,

Anyone got any ideas for this problem?

  • ITunes starts automatically and plays songs

The last couple of months I have noticed whenever I first start up my iMac; within a few minutes iTunes will launch and start playing the first song in my library. If I quit iTunes, it will restart again in a few seconds. I have also noticed when this is happening that the built in microphone does not work properly with Skype. If I restart my computer; it seems to fix the problem but does anyone know how to stop it from happening in the first place? Thanks for your help.

I agree with/have same problem as vinfromacton.
I know it's Flash causing the problem:iTunes had been functioning normally until this morning when I downloaded Flashto allow me to listen to archived radio programs on the internet.
Once I downloaded Flash, iTunes startedopening and playing automatically ~ every 2-3 minutes. Annoying as it playsover audio I am listening to &/or recording.
Only fix I've found is to turn iTunesvolume down to zero: does not stop iTunes from opening - it continues to do so- but I don't hear the iTunes audio.
I'm also going to try dr alexander'ssuggestion: Open a blank Playlist > leave iTunes focus there>quit iTunes.
It reopens but at least it'ssilenced....
Haven't tried it but I would imagine uninstallingFlash (need to download the uninstaller from the Adobe website) would solve theproblem. This however would lead me back to my original problem: no Flash >cannot listen to audio archived on the internet and other internet audio...
I'm also going to call Apple: I haveAppleCare. Will re-post after talking to them.

  • Ipod music - same first song keeps repeating?

When I play music in either albums, or under artists, playlists, it starts on the first song and then keeps repeating that same song all the time without progressing to the other music.   I have looking under settings (Ipod) and cant find anything to get past this??

Start playing a song - any song.
Tap on the album cover art area to bring up the scrubber for the song.
To the left of the scrubber is the repeat icon/selection and to the right of the scrubber is the shuffle icon/selection.
If enabled, the color of the icon/selection will be blue.
Select the icon until the color of the icon turns white which means it is off.

Are you connecting it to the computer to charge? If so, you can't. It will go to the "do not disconnect" screen and so lose it's place.
However, if it's connected via a wall charger, it should resume from where it left off after it's charged.
    At least, that's my experience.
