Randomly vibrating iPhone 4

Why does my phone randomly vibrate every few hours?
I'm not receiving a text, email, or any kind of notification, and it doesn't matter if my phone is plugged in to anything or not. It will just vibrate once, like if I had just recieved a notification but nothing new pops up. This will happen at basically any time of day and I have no idea why. It keeps making me think I have mail, but nothing actually happened. When I acutally do get mail/text/notification, it buzzes just like normal.

No. The vibrations happen at very random times (like 5:39 in the evening), and my phone only vibrates once whereas what reminders I do have set play a tune as well as vibrate. And they don't happen every day at the same time either.

  • Why is my iPhone 5S randomly vibrating?

Since getting my new iPhone 5S a few days ago, it has been continually randomly playing a Ding tone like I was getting an incoming e-mail message. I checked all of my apps and their sounds, and the general sounds, and it appeared that the only app that played a Ding tone is my Mail app for my iCloud.com account. I then changed that Ding tone to be None and now it randomly vibrates rather than playing the Ding tone, so I am pretty sure it is related to the Mail app. I have checked several times when I heard that tone to be sure I had not gotten a new e-mail message and that was not the case.
Is there somewhere I have not looked that would be causing this behavior?

    Jonathan,
Does this only happen while you a plugged in? If so look at your battery icon, you will probably notice that it is grey. If you wiggle the chord you will see that it goes to green and the lightening bolt appears.  When the lightening bolt appears the tone it vibration happens.  The reason it happens randomly when you don't wiggle it is because it's getting that connection on its own.
My iPhone 5s just started doing this today.  While the phone is unplugged from the USB cable. Attempt a reset on your phone by holding down the power button on the top and the home button on the front together for about 3-5 seconds, the phone should automatically power cycle.  In addition attempt to charge with a different chord.  If you have a case on your phone that has the flap to cover the charging port when it is unplugged, rove the case to make sure that flap isn't pressing on the charger.  Those are the steps that I am following right now. My battery icon is still grey do I continue to search for the next steps.  If I find more I will post it here.  I hope some of that helps.

  • Iphone 5 randomly vibrates with no notifications in iOS 7.1

My iPhone 5 randomly vibrates with no notifications and no sound ever since the 7.1 update. Has this happened to anyone else?

This happens to me too. Normally when it is off, a few minutes after it turns off it randomly vibrates. I have an iPhone 5 32GB Black.

  • 3G iPhone randomly vibrating

WHY does my 3G iPhone randomly vibrate when its clear there is no new text message, email, alert, etc? I've heard this might have something to do with switching or recognizing another network but can't find any discussions confirming it. If it is a network-related notification, can it be turned off? If Apple couldn't even tell us what its for then we obviously don't need the vibrate to alert (or annoy) us.
And no, the vibrate switch is not mistakenly getting turned on and off. This happens even when its not being held and just sitting on the table untouched. It also happens whether the phone is charging or not plugged in at all.

Try to set it up as new device without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data.

  • 3GS iphone randomly vibrates?

I've had a 3GS  iphone for about a year and a half and just last month it has started to randomly vibrate. Whenever I switch it to silent mode I will set my phone down and the bell symbol will continue to pop up as if I'm switching it on and off of silent mode. Every time the symbol pops up it vibrates. Sometimes it will do it five or six times in a row when it's just laying on a table. Does anyone know how I can make it stop? I haven't had any problems with my phone until this.

Sounds like you might have a bad mute switch. It has probably worn out. Might have to go ahead and update or try to get an out of warranty replacement for the phone.

  • IPhone 6 randomly vibrating with no notifications or emails

So my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 randomly vibrates about 10 times a day. The random vibrations have been increasing in the past couple weeks.
I've tried everything I could find online to make it stop doing this. I've checked notification settings and sound (vibrate) setting and made sure NONE of my email accounts are permitted to send vibration notifications.
There are no notifications, and it's not related to text messages or emails. It even vibrate when my mail inbox is empty
    Has anyone else encountered this?
How do I stop these terribly annoying and unnecessary vibrates?

    Hi ..
    Try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • IPhone 3 G randomly vibrating

I am having problems with my IPhone randomly vibrating every few seconds. On the screen you see the sound on and sound off indicator switching back and forth with each random vibration. After the phone is reset, it will stop this for a while but will begin vibrating intermittently again. Any suggestions?

Try a restore to see if it fixes it if not i'd be making an appointment to go see an Apple genius maybe the actually switch is a bit faulty (bad connection?) you could even try wriggling it a little to see if the indicator pops up on the screen without actually properly selecting the option. A few people seem to have problems with this switch breaking off entirely so there is a bit of history with problems with the switch, still i think a genius and your warranty would be your best bet

  • Iphone 5 Random Vibrations

I got my new Iphone 5 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed ever since I started using it that it randomly vibrates for no reason at all.  It’s the same short vibration you get when you receive a new sms. I have checked every time it happens and theres no new sms, no new calls, no new emails and I have notifications turned off for everything apart from Phone, Messages, Reminders & Calendar. I have tried turning it off and on again, and Ive tried letting it drain down to 0% and recharge but its still happening, and over the last couple of days its happening more frequently.

  • Phone Randomly Vibrating and Turning Off

Please help me figure out my phone, I love my phone but it has been giving some annoying problems.
    1) It has been vibrating on its own non-stop... it has happened a few times, where it just randomly vibrates for a long time, and it doesn't turn off until I hold down on the on/off button, once it turns off, then I would have to turn my phone back on. Please let me know what I can do to make it stop.
    2) It would randomly turn off on its own and start back on. It isn't convenient when I am trying to text or am surfing the net. Please also let me know what I can do to prevent this from happening again.
    3) Sometimes my phone will say "scanning media files" and then when it is done, some of the icons wouldn't have their pictures anymore, it would have a picture of a SD card with the android guy. Please let me know what is going.
Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Yeebee29, thank you for your inquiry and welcome to the community!
    1. I have not seen this vibrating issue reported for this phone before. Do you have any different icons on the screen when this happens. Next time it happens, go to your Running programs (Settings, Applications, Running Services) to verify which applications are running in the background. If this started after installing any new applications, try uninstalling those & reading reviews to see if anyone may be having these issues.
    2. This can also be caused by a number of things. How often is this happening? Did this start after installing any new applications? Does the phone seem to get hot before it powers off? If the phone is rebooting often, try booting into safe mode for awhile to see if it is still occurring. Safe mode disables third party applications from running, but you are able to use all aspects of the phone while in safe mode. This will help determine if an application may be causing this.
    3. Try removing and re-inserting your SD card. You can also go to Settings>SD & Phone Storage to Unmount then mount again.
If you are still having these issues after completing the above troubleshooting steps, the last step I recommend is a factory reset.

  • Is any one loosing gsm signal at a random paste iphone 4s ios 5.0.1 ???

Is any one loosing gsm signal at a random paste iphone 4s ios 5.0.1 ???

So i unsynced with iCloud altogether. Seemed to be the cure. Then the notes started replicating again. Three notes turned into 157! I viewed all accounts separately, and it appears to only be doing this with new notes i create that sync with Gmail. i vaguely remember Gmail note backups being supported in older versions of Itunes. so far, new notes i am creating outside of gmail sync are remaining singular. Anyone else experience note related issues like this?

  • IPhone 5 randomly vibrates in pulses

I only notice this when I am in bed but every 3 sec- 6min my iphone will vibrate in a quick succession of 1-4 buzzes it will then stop and then 3 sec- 6 min later it will do it again.

I think I figured it out, my power cable has 3 others cords plugged in and sometimes when it buzzes the battery icon changes from charging to blank and it only happens when it's charging. So I think it's because I don't have enought volts to run all 3 cables and it switches on and off.

  • "iTunes Password" box keeps opening up at random on iPhone.

*For the past five days* my friend who is running *iPhone OS 3.0* on his *iPhone 3G* has had the 'iTunes Password' request box *popping up frequently and always at random*. *He has not prompted the box by opening up the App Store or iTunes*. He has tried turning on and off to no avail. It is not a jailbroken phone. Any help here will be gratefully received, the box popping up all the time is getting a bit tiresome.

Well here's another user with the same problems. There is no fix to this bug. This is all caused by file sharing issues which I've heard on good authority Apple are desperately trying to sort out. Sad however they haven't posted this out to the general public which would negate the needless hours spent by faithful users of the product in wasted time. Come on Apple - you can do better than this afterall this is your main source of income now.

  • Random Restarts iPhone 4

Please Help my iPhone 4 keeps randomly restarting and crashing. i have restored it as a new phone and it still happens. How can i fix this?

I may have had and continue to have the same issue. My iphone 4 was several months old and it began exhibiting similar symptoms around the weekend of Jan 22nd. Several times an hour it would restart on its own and more frequently it would restart within seconds of the home button being pressed to awake the phone. At first I suspected it was my Textfree app since I would press home immediately after receiving a text notification. This was disproved after a full wipe of the system at my local Apple Store and a limited reinstall of trusted applications didn't solve the problem. I did not fully restore because that would have just reinstalled all the apps and settings from before the wipe.
Apple replaced my Iphone 4 under warranty yesterday and transferred my SIM card. Since then I've yet to sync my phone to my computer or even my IHome alarm clock. I have also not installed any apps. What I have done is surfed the web, set up my email accounts, and reconnect to two wifi networks. In the last 3 hours my brand new Iphone 4 has yet to crash from the home button but has restarted itself 5 times.
Could this be a coincidence of bad hardware? Is there something coming over from the web/email/wifi network? Could my sim card be causing this?

  • Constantly vibrating iPhone

My iPhone 3G vibrates even though I've turned all sounds and vibration off.  It contiues to vibrate for long periods of time but eventually stops.  I just upgraded my OS to 5.0.1 but this did not help.  How do I stop my iPhone from constantly vibrating?

That is the most current version for my phone and just loaded it last week.  However, the version did not make a difference for my vibration problem.
