Range extension works but not for wireless. I can't figure it out.

I have a problem I have not seen elsewhere: I have dsl hooked up to an Airport Extreme, which works great in our house. However, we have a studio / office that is about 100 feet away. I have no problem extending the range (wirelessly) with an Airport Express so that my husband can get the internet on his computer, which is a desktop and attached by an ethernet cable to the Express. The problem is that THERE IS NO WIRELESS signal available in the studio. I have tried adding another Extreme to a different socket and even moved the Express with no luck. Am I weakening the signal by somehow channeling it all into the desktop? I just don't get it. I would love to be able to use the intenet capabilities that are on the 50" HD tv in there, as well as use my laptop / wireless capabilities on my cellphone, but nada. Not to mention that I have one expensive Extreme sitting unused (and out of the returnable time window.)
I would certainly appreciate any ideas - But please make them simple because I don't always understand technological lingo. Thanks!

I am assuming that the SNR reading of 27 was taken at the location of the Express with the Express powered-off so that we are only reading the signal quality of the Extreme ... correct?
If so, in general the Extreme has a "better" antenna design over the Express. I would second your suggestion to using a second Extreme to extend the first to see if this improves the Wi-Fi situation at the office location. Another option is to move the Express a bit closer to the Extreme.

Network ... almost working but not for all adresses[RESOLVED]

I have a very weird matter since a few weeks. (can't figure out if it's due tu an update or what).
I'm currently writing from my arch laptop : so you may say my network works fine.
Exept, it only works with some sites.
I mean : I cannot access http://www.archlinux.fr/ for exampe, or many other, whereas other work juste fine.
(by "access" I mean : use a browser to see the page.)
This happens :
- on Wifi
- on linked network
- with chromium or firefox
On the other hand : ping and traceroute works fine for these otherwise unreachable adresses.
Weirder still : if I reboot on another OS, everything works flawlessly.
Another PC linked to the same broadband router will show no problem either.
Accessing the "cache" version of sites from g**gle page shows results.
I tried reboot, network restart ... now I dont' know what to try.
Here's my hardware : Laptop is Lenovo Y510

Hmm, seems I solved it by tweeking with the broadband router.
(I fed it with a backup DNS, and reactivated DoS firewall)
Does neither explain why another PC worked well alongside this one,
nor why another OS gave other results.
Maybe just a broadband router inconsistency, anyway, l'll consider this fixed for now.

I have a report from WhatisHang which (in theory) tells my why my firefox constantly hangs up. But I need someone who can help figure this out.

I hope this section will work, i couldnt find a place for Hang ups, and this problem doesnt usually cause a full crash, which is why it was hard to figure it out.
I finally used the program WhatisHang to try to get an idea of what is causing the seemingly random hanging, but have been unable to find anyone who can help me with it.
I have posted the Troubleshooting Information, though i dont think it would be of much help.
I have the report available but dont know where i can post it.

I must admit I seem possibly to be suffering from hangs also, although as I am often not in a hurry when using firefox on this machine it has little impact. I am using a legacy computer and tend to blame this on the computer or maybe background tasks such as from security software or indexing.

Have you tried to rule out
* background tasks are the problem, (at least monitor what else is running using Task Manager or sysinternals process explorer)
* [[is my firefox problem a result of malware|malware]]. ( consider full system scans with multiple tools/software)
* any other interacting programs or plugins (some may not be listed in firefox, you may need to check / uninstall from the OS {Windows Control Panel})
**it may also be an idea to check hangs still occur when WhatIsHangs is not in use.
* have you tried logging the cc & gc times in the error console, (if for instance you see times in 1000s of milliseconds appearing you may have then identified one reason for firefox being unresponsive, even if the cause is not yet identified. - a symptom the memshrink firefox developers will no doubt be eager to investigate)
* if you can get hangs in safe mode, on at least the Aurora channel releases I suggest you immediately go ahead and file a bug yourself. (I will try to find time if not today then next weekend to look more closely at my own system to see if it is showing hangs in firefox use)
** ideally try with all default preferences
** As you have changed preferences, I suggest you include as a attachment in the bug your list of user modified preferences (use ''about:support'' or Troubleshooting Information option)
** State what security software is in use, it could be an important factor. (I imagine the majority of users have security software, or if not have security vulnerabilities and potentially an undetected malware problem)
I will try to find and download a copy of WhatIsHang, see if it works on my system and what results it then shows.
I realise I have not said anything terribly helpful I solving your problem, but I suspect you are not alone in having hangs, if you are able to spare the time to investigate and report I am sure it will help others.
Firefox has had a few problems recently that would have been solved sooner if they were investigated when first reported, but unfortunatly an advantage of firefox is how easy it is to customise, but the downside is differentiating between a firefox fault and customisation problems.

Looking for help on how to get a better signal when receiving and placing calls. Phone got a little wet and is having hard time placing calls and receiving call. Calls are breaking up most of the time but some times I have 4 bars and phone calls goes through just fine. Noticed phone is having troubling connecting to towers. Get a call but caller can not hear me when I have only one bar showing on phone. Phone does hit 4 bars sometime and phone call is clear. Any suggestion., new phone still learning how to use. Should I try to reset to factory settings??? Have read lot of negative comments on the web about doing this. Trying all options before going to the Apple store.

I ended up getting a new phone, straight through Apple. I called their technical support and went through all he basics again and they decided to replace it. Was a pretty quick process - after defaulting and resetting the whole phone (about 2 hours), I called them back to inform that there was no change, so they set up the order.
I had to give my CC# so they could hold a charge on it (in case I didn't send my old phone bach, which they sent me a pre-posted package to send it in anyway). Had a brand new iPhone 4S in my hands in 4 days, which was pretty decent. I had uploaded everything previously to iCloud, so setting up the new phone was a snap.
Only thing I really didn't like was they charged me almost 30 bucks for shipping or processing, or something. Not so sure that should have been my responsibility after spending so much on a brand new product, only to have to have it warrantied after, like, a month.

Button on video track via subtitles work but not for audio via story

I have a video track with two different audio (two versions of music). I have created two buttons within a subtitle to have them directly on the video
if i make a link to the menu, the button work correctly. But in fact i make a link to two different stories, each with the different audio track
this way it does not work ..
any idea ?

You could use scripts.
Create 2 scripts each with the function "Set System Stream"
and select the "audio streams" which you want to use.
Then add as Startscript to the corresponding story.

In the Options box, no matter what I set my Home Page to (Current Pages, Blank Page, Default) I am unable to change my homepage settings; they absolutely will not change and I can't figure it out.

Up to about a month ago, I never had any problems setting my Home Page to Using Current Pages. Then, all of a sudden, I am unable to make any changes to my Home Page no matter what I change the settings to. I work for the US Forest Service and I don't know if some program was loaded that prohibits any changes from being made. Any help would be most appreciated.

The router I have is the Linksys E1000. I bought it and hooked it up yesterday and works great for my desktop but not for my daughters laptop. Her laptop has wireless automatic internet recognitions which allows her to pick up surrounding internet networks. We cannot figure out how to make this work. Please help!

Are you able to see your router's network name on your laptop? If yes, then follow the below mentioned settings.
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

All this sounds like you are confused about the general nature of MIDI Continuous Controllers (MIDI CC). The MIDI specification allows for 128 different CC's: CC0 to CC127. Mainstage works with MIDI CC's generally in a number of ways:
Some standard ones are automatically passed through to all MIDI/Instrument channels unless you specifically block them. Others are not passed through unless you specifically map them to something.

Yes.
It sounds to me like you have an issue where you have several hardware controls on your Keyboard set up to transmit the same MIDI CC. This is probably not a good idea, and it would be much better if you assigned them to transmit different CC messages (CC1 for Modulation and probably CC11 for the Expression (though you may want to set the pedal to some other number instead.
Once you are transmitting different CC messages, you will be able to Assign and Map much more flexibly:
for example, you could one to control the overall output volume at Concert Level in MS, whilst the other controls the volume of a specific channel within a Patch.
Your issue of layered patches is one of "Scaling": one Screen Control (assigned to an incoming MIDI CC message) needs to alter the ranges of different channel strips to different amounts. You can set this up by using multiple mappings for one Control, each set to work over a particular range (for example a goes from -20 to 0 whilst b goes from -30 to -20 etc.).

Airplay works for one user but not for another on the same machine

I have the problem where airplay works for one user but not for another and both users are on the same machine. For the user where it does not work, everything appears normal, it's just that there is no sound being transmitted. I have tried restarting the Airport express, restarting iTunes, repairing disk permissions. Any ideas about what can be done to resolve this?
