Ranking of optional cameras and microphones

Hi,
Has anyone seen or done a ranking of optional cameras and
microphones for Adobe Connect Pro? It would be great to get an
overview of best and most economic products. Right now I am
testing:
- QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac, from Logitech - And I have not
succeeded yet in getting it to show up in the camera configuration.
- ClearChat Pro USB - And I think there is a humming noise
which I have not heard before using other headsets and also my
Mac's buil-in microphone.
All hints are more than welcome!

I just tried to setup a meeting using my sony camcorder
instead of the logitech webcam. it seems to me that the camera is
recognized by laptop and adobe connect. But I don't get the
pictures. I'm using the firewire cable.
Questions:
- what could be wrong
- do I need additional software
- can I use USB instead of firewire?

I'd say 9.4 mb is correct. Email attachments always put on a lot of weight, so 12 mb as an attachment is probably right too.
Why don't you use a free service like Filemail? It's very easy to use, and you dont't have to sign up to use it.

Flash Player security Pop up when using camera and microphone.

The security pop-up was first introduced with FP7. If you want to bypass it I can name two ways off the top of my head:
1. Regardless of ActionScript version (2.0/3.0) in the Flash authoring enviroment, in the Publish Settings dialogue box, the Flash tab, near the bottom choose Access Network Only from Local Playback Security.
2. Publish your movie as a projector. Both of these techniques will allow to "play" your swf file locally.

The trouble began in Google Hangouts on Air. When I'm in conference room I read that my mic doesn't work. I checked settings, chose "default" one time and my microphone name another time. Both variants don't help. On the right end of an address bar I read this message: "this page has been blocked from accessing your camera and microphone". I clicked it, chose "Allow", after reloading the problem returns. Then I went to Chrome exceptions and allowed my mic on the site.
In Chrome exceptions menu I read this: "Adobe Flash Player camera and microphone exceptions are different". Though I chose "Allow" in Chrome I can't do it Fllash Player. I did all the instructions which are given to solve audio problems, but it didn’t help. I also wanted to allow excess for my mic on “Website Privacy Settings Panel”, but I can’t find https://plus.google.com in the list to allow (attach a screenshot). I’m out of ideas what else to do. Please, help!

No Audio on built in camera and microphone

please help iMove has no audio every time i try to use the built in camera and microphone to record straight in.... there is NO AUDIO !!

(0) Unless you are trying to use an old external (Firewire) iSight, there is no need to post in the iSight forum. Unlike external iSights, MacBook Pro built-in cameras don't have integrated mics. MBP's mic is a separate device from its inbuilt camera.
(1) Use iTunes, Safari, or QuickTime, etc. to verify audio OUTPUT is working on playback outside iMovie. If not, check your speaker volume and mute settings. If you use external speakers or headphones, check their connection, settings, and power switches.
(2) Record a short audio test using a non-iMovie app like Photo Booth or QuickTime X to see if it works. If iMovie is your only trouble, and if the following suggestions do not resolve your issue, you may need to reset iMovie preferences or even reinstall the iMovie app.

     • Verify you are using the correct "Record From:" audio input source.

IdeaPad Y650: Cannot use Camera and Microphone on Windows 7

When I bought this laptop, these two works fine in windows vista. But after I reinstall the machine with windows 7, the internal camera and microphone are no longer recognized by the system. I tried to install the drivers from lenovo website, but there is only windows vista / xp driver. I tried windows vista driver for camera and microphone but still not work.
How should I make my camera+microphone work on windows 7?

My camera and mic work fine. When I installed Win7 I did not do a clean install. I just upgraded from the Vista 64 installation that came preinstalled. I've been pleasantly suprised to find that everything works beautifully. Actually better than it did in Vista. Maybe try restoring your Vista installation (if possible, I haven't tried the onekey restore feature) and then install Win7 as an upgrade.
This is just a suggestion - I have not tested this!

Cameras and microphones in set top boxes

Is Verizon currently deploying set top boxes with built in microphones and cameras for future use? If so does anyone know what model set top boxes are so equipped? If the hardware is not in the current devices when does Verizon plan to roll out the new hardware containing the cameras and microphones?

Current Verizon STBs do not have cameras or microphones. Even if future ones did, it's doubtful they would work. Verizon can't get the basic function of their software right anyway, so I'm not concerned.

Can we capture the video and audio using cam and microphone in Edge Animate?

I got a new requirement from the client to create a HTML5 based functionality through which one can capture the video and audio using his web-cam/camcorder and microphone. I have researched on internet and found that there is api available (not reliable) http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/getusermedia/intro/ . I am not a coder by profession and use Edge animate to create HTML 5 based animations and stuff like that. Another problem which i have found that the api only works well with Chrome and Opera and not with Mozilla, IE..
Can anybody help me out in this, please...

Hi, Vikas-
After a brief bit of research, you're definitely hitting upon the limitation of the browsers. Not all of the browsers have implemented this part of the HTML5 standard, so you're going to either have to use Flash or be limited to these specific browsers.

Capture iPhone camera and microphone using QuickTIme in a web based app.

Hi all.
Can I capture video from iPhone's camera and audio from the mic. using QuickTime in a web based app. ? Of course on the iPhone 3G and 3GS. I need this because I want to let users to use the iPhone for a web based video chat. So theoretically my point is to use QuickTime to capture an a/v signal from a Mac camera/mic. or iPhone camera/mic., to encode that a/v signal (QuickTime knows to encode to H.264/AAC right?) and to send the encoded stream to a server. Is this scenario a realistic one? Can it be implemented ? (I don't have any experience in programming with iPhone and Mac...)
Btw. do you know any emulators for iPhone that runs on Windows 7?

After update to iOS 7, front camera and microphone in Camera Apps stopped working on my iPhone 4S

Hello, I have a problem with my iPhone 4S. I am no longer under warranty.. I am pretty sure this happened after iOS 7 update, both of the problems, so I think this is software issue. First I noticed that after switching to front camera, app freezes. And after some time, I found out that when I capture video, there´s just some constatnt noise in background, however microphone works fine in calls, skype or just when i record sound.
I tried restart, delete settings and stuff like that. Is there anything I cant try to do? Thanks and I hope some future update will fix this..

One last try might be connecting in DFU mode, explained in this thread by Wjosten, and set it up as new device after that.
If this fails as well, you'll have to visit an Apple Store next to your place to get it checked or contact Apple support to get it serviced.

Make Flash Plug-In for Firefox Remember Privacy Settings for Camera and Mic Access on Local File

My company is using Flash Player to develop some kiosk-style applications to run on a standalone computer (no network connection). This computer will contain web pages containing Flash content. They will be opened from the local HD with Firefox with the Adobe Flash plug-in (v11.7.700.224). One of the applications accesses the microphone hooked up to the computer. When this application is started, it always asks for permission for "local" to access the microphone and camera. In previous versions of our system, we could click "Remember" if we did it once and that would make it so it wouldn't ask for permissions again (in this case, the Remember option isn't available, and the site settings don't even offer the Privace tab). However, in the previous case, we were running IE with a previous ActiveX Flash version (unfortunately, this approach is no longer available as we have had to switch to Windows 8 and that changes the game with IE and Flash entirely).
At this point, we have tried to use the Global Settings for "Camera and Microphone Settings by Site..." to enter "Local" as an always allowed site. This does not seem to have any effect. We also tried entering the root directory of the applications in "Trusted Location Settings", but that also seemed to have no effect.
I'm not sure what has fundamentally changed here. I think there might be some differences in the Plug-In version (compared to ActiveX), but I'm not sure what they might be or how to do the same thing as before.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We learned that the Privacy tab (in Settings) can be found under the Flash plug-in for Firefox, but only if Firefox is running under an administrator.
Unfortunately, we haven't had much luck with the mms.cfg file. The following was used in the mms.cfg file (placed in both the %WINDIR%\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash and %WINDIR%\System32\Macromed\Flash” directories):
AVHardwareDisable = 0
AVHardwareEnabledDomain = local
AVHardwareEnabledDomain = 127.0.0.1
AVHardwareEnabledDomain = localhost
AutoUpdateDisable = 1
The AVHardwareEnabledDomain settings seem to be getting ignored regardless of whether the user is a standard user or an administrator. I also checked to make sure it wasn't just a local problem by going to a website that uses a microphone (http://www.testden.com/accent-reduction/systemcheck.htm). Adding the requested domain to the list (AVHardwareEnabledDomain = train.act360.com) still didn't bypass the allow/deny dialog box.
We know that the mms.cfg file is being read because setting "AVHardwareDisable = 1" will result in no prompt and that section being greyed out in Global Settings. I saw a post that suggested this setting was required to even make the AVHardwareEnabledDomain work, but it seems to block the local entirely and still brings up the dialog query on the internet site.

Disable Camera (and prove it is disabled)?

I need to be able to disable the Web Cam in my early 2011 MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.4) and be able to prove that it has been disabled.
Due to security rules (at work) I can't take any device into some areas without disabling any cameras (and microphones), I also need to be able to provide suitable proof that any camera has been disabled (saying it's off because the indicator light is off isn't good enough); at the moment this is done with sticky tape (yuk!); is there a better (less sticky!) solution?

It sounds like your hard drive either has a software problem that Disk Utility cannot fix or that the HD has failed (mechanically).
Your Mac may have booted either to your recovery partition or to internet recovery in an attempt to repair the drive- I can't tell from your post.
I'll assume that it was the recovery partition.
Try to boot into internet recovery (hold down option command R at restart), and see if you can repair your HD with Disk Utility. You should also repair permissions while you're there.
If that doesn't work, try to boot into single user mode (restart, hold down ⌘S until you see a black screen with white text) and repair your hard drive. Here's a reference with directions: Repair Your Hard Disk in Single User Mode | Everything Macintosh
If that doesn't work you have a few options:
If your mac originally came with installation disks, you can try to boot from the installation disk and then see if you can repair the HD.
There is a small chance that Techtool Pro 7 will be able to repair your HD if Disk Utility can't.
If none of that works then your HD has probably failed and will need to be replaced, which is not too difficult to do yourself if you can use a screwdriver.
