Ranking query Required ( as not in oracle built in rank functions )

Hai I have facing some kind of problem with Ranking using sql, i want different ranking as not in oracle built in functions ,
Please help me
for Example, i am showing the sample data what i required Exactly
if any student obtains the same marks rank should be bottom rank of the students who got same rank which should cummulate top students rank
Ranking Procedure - 1

Why are you excluding Oracle built in functions? The results of "Ranking Procedure 2" would appear to just be the result of
SELECT sno, student, marks, RANK() OVER (ORDER BY marks DESC) rnk
  FROM your_tablei.e.
  1  with x as (
2  select 1 sno, 13 student, 50 marks from dual
  3  union all
  4  select 2, 21, 50 from dual
  5  union all
  6  select 3, 12, 49 from dual
  7  )
8  select sno, student, marks, rank() over (order by marks desc) rnk
  9*   from x
SCOTT @ jcave102 Local> /
       SNO    STUDENT      MARKS        RNK
         1         13         50          1
         2         21         50          1
3         12         49          3I would probably write a custom analytic function to get the results of your first ranking procedure. Though I imagine you could get the same results in pure SQL, a well-named custom aggregate function would seem to be easier to understand (though the pure SQL solution may well be somewhat more efficient).

  • Service Bus 12c Class not found 'oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.ExtFunc'

    Hi,
Did anyone came across this issue with Class not being found for XSLT Function used in transformer on 12c OSB.
I'm using oraext:sequence-next-val and have configured as below:
    namespace-uri:http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.ExtFunc
    namespace-prefix: oraext
Not sure why at runtime I'm getting below error, as the same was working fine in 11g OSB Domain.
XML-22045: (Error) Extension function error: Class not found 'oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.ExtFunc'

Have you restarted servers after putting jar in $Domain_Home/lib directory? Also try after explicitly adding this jar in classpath by editing server startup script (startManagedWeblogic.cmd or .sh) or in domain env setting script (setDonainEnv.cmd or .sh) and restarting the servers.

  • Oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.Xpath20 missing

    Hello
I have made a XSL for a ESB service in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3 and when trying to debug the xsl, I get this error
Deadlock detection is not supported by the debuggee virtual machine.
oracle.xml.xpath.XPathException: Extension function error: Class not found 'oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.Xpath20'
    I use the xp20:format-dateTime and xp20:current-date functions.
If I right-click and choose Test, the xsl works fine also invoking the ESB, the xsl transformation is fine.
    How can I fix this?

    Thanks Guy,
    Sorry for late reply ....
I try all what I can imagine , but it seems no use , anyway I found a post :
    http://blogs.oracle.com/reynolds/2007/07/whats_the_time_mr_bpel.html
see Ramkumar Menon 's comment on it .it seems that BPEL complier has limitation ... (even in 11g , it hasn't changed )
    I give up

I am getting below error when trying to generate xml. Browsing on google did not help me. I would appreciate if someone can provide the solution.

Then it is probably not the case that you are affected by the issue described in Metalink document 185857.1, but if I were you I would check it anyway, since it might be the problem.

    Hi,
This problem happened on Windows platforms after upgrading the RDBMS used to access the gateway from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 patch 22.
The solution is to install and apply Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 Patch 29 (Windows Bundle Patch 29) or later to the RDBMS that is running the query and connecting to the Gateway.
This is detailed in the following note available on My Oracle Support -
Query Using DG4MSQL Returns Error After Upgrade of RDBMS From 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 (Doc ID 1078940.1)

  • [Blog] If you are not scaling Oracle WebLogic like this, then you're doing it wrong

If you are not scaling Oracle Middleware like this, then you’re doing it wrong
We have all built an Oracle Middleware box from scratch once. But, if you ever build an Oracle Middleware box from scratch twice, you’re doing it wrong! (click to tweet). Okay, maybe that is a little extreme. Surely there are some business requirements that justify building multiple Middleware deployments from scratch, but you should certainly do everything in your power to avoid it. Here’s how you should be implementing Oracle Middleware with today’s tools. (If you don’t feel like reading, jump to the end to see how Blue Medora makes your life a whole lot easier).
Oracle Middleware is designed from the ground up to be both vertically and horizontally scalable. Unfortunately, most implementations of Oracle Middleware do not effectively leverage these capabilities and many admins focus only on scaling vertically. To maximize your Oracle Middleware investment, you must have an appropriate strategy to horizontally scale within your private/public crowd.

I'm not entirely sure that you are right or wrong on the phone recording issue.  As soon as I hear the Verizon message state that "This call may be monitored or recorded for quality and training purposes" I flip my recorder on.  I always tell Verizon that our call is either being recorded likewise or that it might be monitored by other ears.  I do this at the get go so that names are recorded and I hear their response.  A lot of the times the reps, some who work in a call center and some who work from home, some surrounded by screamin younguns and barking dogs and cats fighting....they will flat out refuse and say that THEY don't record the calls, that someone at Verizon does, and if you want to get a copy of the recording that there is a number to call, "I'll get that number for you, one moment........::click.::"  Some say, "Don't tell em you're recording since they told you the call is already."  The recordings says "MAY" which isn't a guarantee that it is.  Best to be upfront since, if the rep[ knows their stuff, they might not mind as much and there's nothing like trying to use in-admissible evidence.

  • Reg: Complex query requirement-

    Hi Experts,
I am having a query requirement which seems to be kind-of complex. Below I try to provide the pseudo-code:
    -->>-- CASE (1)
    IF EXISTS (
    select new_amt
    from table_stp stp
    where stp.chng_dt = (
      select MAX(a.chng_dt)
      from table_stp stp
      where
       stp.chng_dt <= due_dt
       and stp.new_amt IS NOT NULL
    -->>-- CASE (2)
    ELSE IF EXISTS(
    select old_amt
    from table_stp stp
    where stp.chng_dt = (
      select MIN(a.chng_dt)
      from table_stp stp
      where
       stp.chng_dt <= due_dt
       and stp.old_amt IS NOT NULL
    ELSE 0
    Some sample scenario -
    LNO CHNG_DT  NEW_AMT OLD_AMT
    1 12-01-2013 100  null
    1 13-01-2013 200  666
    1 14-01-2013 null 777
    2 17-01-2013 null 555
    2 18-01-2013 null 888
    2 19-01-2013 null 999
    Output should be:
    1     13-01-2013     200      666 -->>-- case 1
    2     17-01-2013     null     555 -->>-- case 2
Please let me know if you need any other clarification.
Could you please help me with this?
    Help much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ranit
    (on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0)

    Hi Frank,
I guessed that my initial post will need some additional inputs. Let me try to describe my requirement more clearly:
    Sample data --
    with table_stp(LNO,CHNG_DT,NEW_AMT,OLD_AMT,col1,col2,col3,col4) as(
select 1, TO_DATE('12-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), 100, NULL, 11,12,13,14 from dual UNION ALL
        select 1, TO_DATE('13-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), 200, 666, 21,22,23,24 from dual UNION ALL
select 1, TO_DATE('14-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), NULL, 777, 31,32,33,34 from dual UNION ALL
select 2, TO_DATE('17-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), NULL, 555, 41,42,43,44 from dual UNION ALL
select 2, TO_DATE('18-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), NULL, 888, 51,52,53,54 from dual UNION ALL
        select 2, TO_DATE('19-01-2013','dd-mm-yyyy'), NULL, 999, 61,62,63,64 from dual
    select *
    from table_stp;
    My expected output --
    1     13-01-2013     200      666     21     22     23     24 -->>-- case 1
    2     17-01-2013     null     555     41     42     43     44 -->>-- case 2
    Logic --
    (1) First, we need to check if Case - 1 satisfies or not.
(1.1) If Yes, do some task.
(1.2) If Not, check if Case - 2 satisfies or not.
(1.2.1) If Yes, do some task.
         (1.2.2) If Not, set value = 0
    Case - 1)
First, all records with "NEW_AMT" as null are eliminated and we need to fetch the value "NEW_AMT" with maximum "CHNG_DT".
So, first output record is scenario Case - 1.
    Case - 2)
If all values for a LNO is null for column "NEW_AMT", we need to look into column "OLD_AMT" for the value with minimum "CHNG_DT"
Second output record lies here, because - all record values for column "NEW_AMT" is null, we need to consider column "OLD_AMT" for values,
Still, if all values in OLD_AMT is null, set = 0
Hope this gives a better understanding, else please let me know.

  • HELP! Can not install Oracle 8.1.5 w/ RedHat 6.1!

I can not get Oracle 8.1.5 to install onto Linux RedHat 6.1. The
Oracle installation script generates several errors. I have
tried several attempts, using different options, but they all
    generate errors.
Please help. The Oracle Installation scripts appear to be very
buggy... or perhaps they are incompatible with the standard
RedHat 6.1 release. Either way, it is very frustrating.
I have documented one of my (failed) installation attempts below.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
I am installing Oracle onto a Dell Latitude CPi PC w/ 128MB RAM,
a 366MHz Pentium II, and RedHat 6.1 (using the standard Linux
2.2.12-2 kernel). RedHat was installed using the standard "Gnome
    Workstation" configuration.
    The Oralce CD is labeled:
    "Oralce 8i Enterprise Edition
    Release 8.1.5
    for Linux
    (c) Oracle Corporation 1999"
I got this CD about one week ago at Oracle OpenWorld '99 in Los
Angeles... it should be their "latest & greatest" version so far.
    1. Pre-Installation and ./runInstall
I created an "oracle" Unix account w/ groups "oinstall" (the
primary group) and "dba" (a secondary group).
I created directories /u01 through /u04, belonging to oracle.
I setup .cshrc and sourced it, containing:
    umask 022
    setenv DISPLAY `hostname`:0
    xhost +
    setenv ORACLE_BASE /u01/app/oracle
    setenv ORACLE_HOME ${ORACLE_BASE}/product/8.1.5
    setenv ORACLE_SID cprtest
    setenv PATH ${ORACLE_HOME}/bin:${PATH}
    setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH ${ORACLE_HOME}/lib
    setenv NLS_LANG US7ASCII
    I downloaded jre116_v5 and installed to /usr/local/jre.
Finally, I executed (from the "oracle" Unix account):
    cd /mnt/cdrom
    ./runInstall
Problem: I got the error (from ./runInstall):
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre.
    Please wait...
    Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
    : Bad address
Workaround: Executed the following commands instead:
    cd /mnt/cdrom/install/linux
    ./runIns.sh
    3. runIns.sh and root.sh
I selected the following options (from ./runIns.sh):
    Source: /mnt/cdrom/stage/products.jar
    Destination: /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5
    Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.5.0.0
    Typical (585MB)
Installable Components: Oralce Intelligent Agent 8.1.5.0.0
    Global Database Name: cprtest.parkrussell.com
    SID: cprtest
    Directory for Database Files: /u02
Then (when instructed by ./runIns.sh), I attempted to execute
    (from the
    "root" Unix account):
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5
    ./root.sh
    Problem: I got the error:
    "bash: ./root.sh: Permission denied"
The execute bit was not set.
    Workaround: I executed:
    chmod a+x root.sh
    ./root.sh
    5. Configuration Tools
The Oracle Installer (./runIns.sh) attempted to execute:
    A. Net8 Configuration Agent
    B. Oracle Database Configuration Agent
Problem: The "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" failed with
    the following error message:
"One or more tools have failed. It is recommended but not
required that these tools succeed for this installation.
You can now select these tools, read its details to examine
why they have failed, fix those problems, and retry them.
Or, you can click "Next" to continue."
When I selected the "Oracle Database Configuration Agent" for
more info, I got the following additional details (as the cause
    of the error):
"A required command line argument is missing."
    The log file
    "/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions.log" recorded:
"Command which is being spawned is /usr/local/jre/bin/jre
    -Duser.dir=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/assistants/dbca/jlib

Invalid Exit Code. The following result code will be used for
    configuration tool: 1
Configuration tool Oracle Database Configuration Assistant
    failed"
Workaround: There is obviously nothing I can do to fix this
problem. It appears to be an internal bug in ./runIns.sh.
Therefore, I selected "Next" and executed "dbassist" directly.
    6. dbassist
    I executed:
    dbassist
Problem: I got the following error:
    "JNLS Execution:oracle.ntpg.jnls.JNLSException
Unable to find any National Character Sets. Please
    check your Oracle installation."
Workaround: Press "OK" and ignore the error.
    7. dbassist (cont.)
    I selected the following options:
    Create database
    Typical
Copy existing database files from the CD
    Global Database Name: cprtest.parkrussell.com
    SID: cprtest
Problem: I got the following error:
"CD-ROM drive not detected on this system.
    Database not created."
(Note: I've been running the installation scripts from the
CDROM drive this entire time. "df" shows the CDROM drive
mounted on /mnt/cdrom. "ls /mnt/cdrom" works too.)
Workaround: Abort (which generated the additional error: "Unable
to create database. DBCA-00003: No CD-ROM drive detected.") and
run dbassist again, this time using different parameters.
    8. dbassist, again
I executed "dbassist" again and selected the following options:
    Create database
    Typical
    Create new database files
    Hybrid
    Concurrently connected users: 5
Options: Oralce interMedia, Oralce JServer, and iM demos
    Global Database Name: cprtest2.parkrussell.com
    SID: cprtest2
    Create database now
Problem: I got the following error:
    "ORA-01012: not logged on"
    Workaround: Try, try again.
    9. dbassist, one last time
Executed "dbassist" once more and selected the following options:
    Create database
    Typical
    Create new database files
    Hybrid
    Concurrently connected users: 5
Options: Oralce interMedia, Oralce JServer, and interMedia
    demos
    Global Database Name: cprtest3.parkrussell.com
    SID: cprtest3
    Output creation script
Then, I executed (from the "oracle" Unix account):
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/install
    setenv ORACLE_SID cprtest3
    ./sqlcprtest3.sh
Problem: I got the following output:
"Oracle Server Manager Release 3.1.5.0.0 - Production
    (c) Copyright 1997, Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

    ORA-01012: not logged on
    SVRMGR> Disconnected."
    Workaround: Beats me.
    10. sqlplus
I attempted to execute sqlplus, but got the following error
    message:
    "/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin/sqlplus: Permission denied."
The execute bit was not set.
    Workaround: I executed:
    chmod a+x /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin/sqlplus
    sqlplus
I gave up for now... there were just too many things wrong with
this installation, starting with the very first command I was
    supposed to execute (./runInstaller).
I can't fathom why Oracle's installation script has so many bugs.
Am I just doing something terribly wrong?
    Please help.

I'm using enlightenment version 0.15.5-41, which is more recent
than the 0.15.5-37 version (containing the Oracle installer
patch) that you recommended. Unfortunately, it fails when using
    this version.
I also tried installing Oracle using twm, with enlightenment
    disabled. This didn't help either.
Furthermore, the errors that I'm encountering in the OUI are
not just toward the end of the installation. They happen from
the very beginning, right after I enter "./runInstall", and
continue every step of the way.

  • Using Notes and Oracle Client in the same application on Linux crashes

This thread is copied from a thread of the same name under Database - General, since I cannot get any replies there.
Could someone from Oracle PLEASE comment on this.
Our application on Linux loads the Notes client libraries and then the Oracle client libraries. The application will crashes when connectimg to an Oracle server. This is because the T_* symbols in libnnz11.so get fixed up into libnotes.so rather than locally into libnnz11.so where the functions are defined.

We have circumvented the problem for the time being by making sure that we load the Oracle libraries before Notes, but we cannot go with that as a long term solution.
In my opinion the Oracle library is wrongly linked since all the T_* functions are defined in libnnz11.so. When we load Oracle first, the loader debug trace shows the correct fixups. When we load Notes first, the loader trace shows the incorrect fixups. We are using dlopen(libor9i.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Oracle and dlopen(libnotes.so, RTLD_LOCAL) for Notes. libor9i.so has a dependency on libclntsh.so.10.1.
An opinion would really be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John Unsworth

    Thanks again.
We don't have an Oracle support contract because we do not use Oracle ourselves. We supply an application that synchronises data between multiple data servers and server types, of which Oracle is one and Notes is another, as well as LDAP servers and many other types.
Producing a full resolved binary is therefore not an option since the types of data server are configured when the apploication is installed, and then the client software for each server is loaded as required.
The end user of the application supplies the client libraries and has a support contract for the servers, in particular Oracle and Notes in this case. So the other option is for the end user to raise a ticket using his support contract, but he is reluctant to do that since he considers that this is our problem as we supply the application that is having the problem. So we are in a dead water area. We do not want to take out a support contract just to get what is an Oracle product problem resolved. I imagine that this problem is something that has not been encountered before, because our use of the client library in conjunction with other client libraries is probably unusual.
So that is why I am hoping, without any success so far, that someone from Oracle will pick this up.

  • CM14 BI Publisher - modifying an existing Data Model, the Graphic View in Query Builder does not display

I am trying to edit the default forms/reports that come with CM14, trying to edit the data model, data set, (to get to the old Infomaker style graphic view) , the Query model does not display (error the list of tables is too long..) Oracle tell me the limit is 60,  there are not 60 tables referenced in any CM report.
Does this Query builder view work at all on any report?
(bigger question, we are moving from CM12, should we move to CM13 which works with infomaker?)
    Thanks,
    Paul L

    Kurt, thanks for your replies.
    A couple of notes/clarifications.
    1.     You are correct that BI works better in Firefox--I have observed issues with the BI display when using IE.  I would recommend using Firefox too.
    2.     You are correct about the way to get to the Query Builder to see a graphical view of data tables.  There are basically two issues with this that I mentioned, but will re-iterate:
    a.  If you have an EXISTING query in the data set, then click the "Query Builder" button, this will remove the existing query that's there, it will NOT display the existing query in the query builder.  Query Builder works only to create a NEW query from scratch.
    b.  Query builder is limited to selecting 60 fields max in your query.  If you are creating a large report with many tables, you may find that 60 fields is not enough.  For that you will have to work in the SQL edit screen rather than using the query builder.
I would impress on anyone developing CM14 reports that they become familiar with the database schema and relationships to avoid problems when developing your BI reports.  You should be able to find the tables and joins documentation in the knowledgebase.

Most likely, the OCI libraries could not be loaded.
Before continuing down this path, is there any reason
why you want to use an OCI based Driver as opposed to the
all Java Oracle thin driver ?There is indeed a valid reason for my choice.
I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
    VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
    etc..).
By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
simply doesn't seem to load the software.
    Help...

  • SSMS 2012: Import XML File to SQL Table - 'value' is not a recognized built-in function name!!??

    <author>Erik T. Ray</author>
    <year>2003</year>
    <price>39.95</price>
    </book>
    </bookstore>
In my Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Management Studio, I executed the following SQL Query code:
--XQuery w3schools example using books1.xml in C:\Temp folder
    ---SQL Query W3books Title
    ---9 March 2015
    USE XML_XQUERY
    GO
    CREATE TABLE W3Books(
    BookID INt Primary Key,
    Title VARCHAR(30));
    INSERT INTO W3Books (BookID, Title)
    SELECT x.book.query('BookID'), value('.', 'INT'),
    x.book.query('title'), value('.', 'VARCHAR(30)')
    FROM (
    SELECT CAST(x AS XML)
    FROM OPENROWSET(
    BULK 'C:\Temp\books1.xml',
    SINGLE_BLOB) AS T(x)
    ) AS T(x)
    CROSS APPLY x.nodes('W3Books/book') AS x(book);
    SELECT BookID, Title
    FROM W3Books;
I got the following error messages:
    Msg 195, Level 15, State 10, Line 7
'value' is not a recognized built-in function name.
    Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 16
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AS'.
I don't know why I got the error of 'value' is not a recognized built-in function name. Please kindly help and tell me what is wrong in my code and how to correct the error.
    Thanks, Scott Chang
    P. S.
    (1) I mimicked the xml file and SQL Qeury code of Import XML File to SQL Table in
http://pratchev.blogspot.com/2008/11/import-xml-file-to-sql-table.html. The xml file and the code of this sample worked in my SSMS 2012 program.
    (2) I am learning the "CAST" and "CROSS APPLY" in the Create Instances of XML Data of Microsoft MSDN - it is very abstract to me.

Hi Stan210, Thanks for your nice response.
I corrected my xml file as you pointed out.
I made some changes in some code statements of my SQLQueryW3BookTitle.sql as you instructed:
--XQuery w3schools example using books1.xml in C:\Temp folder
    ---SQL Query W3books Title
    ---10 March 2015
    USE XML_XQUERY
    GO
    CREATE TABLE W3Books(
    BookID INt Primary Key,
    Title VARCHAR(30));
    INSERT INTO W3Books (BookID, Title)
    SELECT x.book.value('/BookID[1]', 'INT'),
    x.book.value('/title[1]', 'VARCHAR(30)')
    FROM (
    SELECT CAST(x AS XML)
    FROM OPENROWSET(
    BULK 'C:\Temp\books1.xml',SINGLE_BLOB) AS T(x)
    ) AS T(x)
    CROSS APPLY x.nodes('bookstore/book') AS x(book);
    SELECT BookID, Title
    FROM W3Books;
I executed my revised sql and I got the following Message and Results:
    Msg 515, Level 16, State 2, Line 6
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'BookID', table 'XML_XQUERY.dbo.W3Books'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.
    The statement has been terminated.
    (0 row(s) affected)
    Results:
    BookID    Title
I don't know why I just got the names of columns in Results and the "Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'BookID', table 'XML_XQUERY.dbo.W3Books'; column does not allow nulls, insert fails." in Messages.  Please kindly help, advise me
how to correct the errors and respond again.
    Many Thanks again,
    Scott Chang
