Rapid charger pins

Ocassionally, the pin(s) in the rapid charger dont appear fully extended therefore not charging the playbook...They are too recessed to grab with a tweezer and I have shot compressed air in there to help it pop out as well as pumping it with a toothpick to hopefully loosen it...any suggestions???

  • Any value in the Rapid Charger? and other charge related questions

Ok, I think I have calmed down. I will keep my playbook.  But some issues still continue to burn me.   The lastest, the time to recharge off the provided wall-charger.
    - So does anyone here have the Rapid charger? Does it really work faster than the wall-charger?
    - WIll the playbook charge off a PC USB connection?
    - Will the Playbook charge off a standard 9700 or 9800 charger?
    thanks

The provided wall charger works pretty fast for me, I was actually surprised how quick.
    - WIll the playbook charge off a PC USB connection?
Yes, slowly. Much slower than the provided charger.
    - Will the Playbook charge off a standard 9700 or 9800 charger?
Ditto. Yes, slowly. Much slower than the provided charger.

  • Cheap way to rapidly charge your PlayBook.

I want to share some findings with you in case this helps someone else in future. I tried to charge my PlayBook with the HP TouchPad USB plug (barrel type) and it works perfectly fine (Green lightning bolt icon appears - no errors). So if you want a cheap way to charge your PlayBook, buy one of these.
    http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Adapte...rackberry00-20 ($8.99 with cable)
    http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Adapte...rackberry00-20 ($4.99 without cable)
Here are the specs of both charger types:
BlackBerry Rapid Charger (the one with fold out prongs and ships with the device):
    Input: 100-240V - 300mA 50-60Hz
    Output: 5V - 1.8A
    http://ca.shopblackberry.com/Product/BlackBerry-Premium-Charger/ACC-39343-301
    HP TouchPad Barrel Charger:
    Input:100-240V - 0.4A 50-60Hz
    Output: 5.3V - 2A
The benefit of using the TouchPad charger is that the cable comes off so you can use a normal charging micro USB cable bought from Monoprice.com for $1.73 and you can get a lot longer cord (in this case 15 feet). http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
You could spend $38.99 on a genuine BB replacement or $6.72 (devices bought seperately - not including shipping charges though) for one that has a 15 foot cord, is multi-use and comes apart...

I'd recommend for anyone to get the magnetic rapid charger and leave the more fragile USB port to data transfer.
    http://www.amazon.com/Blackberry-Rapid-Travel-Charger-Playbook/dp/B004XBZ728
$25USD, and sometimes as low as $20 according to the seller.

  • Ipad is sometimes "not charging" and sometimes charging ..i have to pull out and put tje charging pin many times til i see the icon that it is charging..i have an original ipad charger..and it always takes time for it to charge succesfully

I need ur help..i have to unplug and plug the charging pin to my ipad many times until i cam see the icon on the upper right that ia alrdy charging..i often see 'not charging' message many times before it will charge succesfully..need ur help guys.thanka

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pins as the earlier versions?

Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pin positons as the earlier versions as I want to use it in my Audi where my 5th gen Nano will play but not charge as the pin configuration for charging changed from that of the earlier models.

If your 5th gen nano doesn't change, then a new iPod Classic will not either.
The "change" was that older iPods used firewire to charge the iPod. But that's 12volts (the same voltage as a car's battery). Then along came charging by USB, which is 5volts. So car manufacturers who were on the ball, introduced electronics to drop the 12v car battery voltage to 5v and put that 5v on the appropriate USB pins. (I would hope, that by now, every car manufacturer has sorted this out, but of course that doesn't help anyone with an older model car.)
The incredibly obvious - to anyone with technical knowledge - was that one day, Apple would stop the 12v charging method on newer models of iPod. But somehow, a lot of manufacturers of devices that charge iPods failed to see this. (It really was incredibly obvious, believe me!)
It wasn't just car manufacturers who were caught out by this, so were Docking Station devices. I know of one make, where the manufacturer recalled the ones still in shops so that they could re-work them to charge using the 5v USB pins.
In my car, made around 2006, I had an external device fitted so that I could plug my iPod into the car stereo through the Dock Connector. But hey, guess what? That device will charge my iPod Classic, but not my iPod Touch.
A long-ish answer, but hopefully it not only answers the question, but tells you why too.

  • USB v Firewire Charging Pin

I have read that the reason the iPhone 3G does not charge anymore on 'older' third party devices (i.e. car docks/ BOSE sounddock) is because the firewire charging pin is no longer used on the iPhone 3G. Now, does anyone know of an adapter that can be purchased that effectively 'swaps' the firewire to USB charging pin? This way, although not perfect, once can simply interpose this adapter between the iPhone 3G and the third party device to at least enable charging!

It appears that someone finally created a converter to allow older firewire-type devices to charge newer iPods/iPhones...

  • IPhone 6 rapid charging feature?

    Hi,
In an online article I found this:
"The iPhone 6 has a similar rapid charging feature, according to reports. Like the Note 4, that feature only works when you use compatible cords. Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't ship with a compatible cord. If you want rapid charging you need to purchase a new cord, use the one that came with an iPad or plug your cord directly into a newer Mac that supports the feature."
    It was from this article:
    http://www.cio.com/article/2842882/android-smartphone/6-things-galaxy-note-4-doe s-that-iphone-6-cant.html
Does the cord make a difference?
Using the AC charger for an ipad seems to charge our iphones faster than the iphone charger does (10 watts vs 5 watts, if I'm not mistaken), but is there a cord that helps speed up the process?
    Thanks

An iPhone doesn't charge any faster with an iPad adapter. The phone's built in charging circuit determines the charging rate, not the adapter or the cord. It WILL charge faster with an adapter than it will using most computers because computers USB ports typically can supply only 0.5 amps, while the Apple adapter can supply 1 amp. An exception is late model Macs, which can supply 1 amp at the USB ports. The rest of that article is pure hokum.

  • Rapid Charging Stand

I'm looking to buy the Rapid Charging Stand and I have noticed that there is 2 different model number:
    ACC-39340-103 and ACC-39340-303
What is the difference between the 2 models?

Rapid Charging Stand has been working well for me, once in a while some dust get on it and needs to be cleaned to charge. I clean it once a month now with lint free cloth.

  • Droid RAZR maxx HD XT926 rapid charge

So on the last firmware update there was a feature added that lets the phone tapid charge when the power is off. But I'm not understanding how that works cuz regaurdless of if my phone is plugged into my computer;s usb port or plugged into a wall outlet when I turn it off it turns right back on, it wont stay off. So how am I suppose to use the rapid charge if the phone wont stay off. And like I said it doesn't matter if its plugged into a wall charger or usb port the phone turns right back on. I've tried turning it off then plugging it in as soon as I plug it in it turns on, and I've also plugged it in turned on and then shut it off but it still turns its self right back on. So how am I suppose to use rapid charge if the phone wont stay off?

As Rc indicated some USB's can have issues I have't seen any troubles in the one's that I currently own but I have more than one that I can use Plus I have the old Traditional OEM charger's that Motorola currently sell's but's not included in the box with the phone) The one you see below is one that I have and is usually found with an accessory..
If the phone is not passed the 14 day return,  box it up with it's papers and return it to the store and have a Rep check it out with another charger if it works ok and you want to keep it Go a head)  But if you'd rather exchange for another one see if the Rep will let you do it.  Good Luck on your Decision.. b33

  • Charger pin on MacBook broken; possible to fix?

The rearmost gold pin on the laptop, the one nearest the hinge for the screen, broke off and was magnetized to the surrounding area.  I removed the pin, and while the power adaptor will power the laptop, it isn't charging it.
It's a six year old computer at this point.  If a fix is possible and relatively inexpensive, it would help not to have to find the money to buy a new laptop.  Is it possible?

    Hello,
Yes it can be replaced, the part you require is called the DC Inboard.
Prices may very depending on where you buy and if you require someone to fit one for you.
