  • N95 modem connection problem

Hi everybody, I was wondering if there's anybody that can help me with my problem with my N95....I tried to use my N95 as a modem and connected it to my laptop to acces the internet via USB Cable, installed the latest PC Suite ver. 6.86.
The installation and everything else were fine, I'm with T-Mobile USA and I have T-Zone package...launched PC Suite and hit "Connect to the Internet" button, at first it didn't connect successfully but after I changed the settings manually it successfully connected (I used wap.voicestream.com for the access point and leaving everything else blank) BUT when I tried to open Internet Explorer I get this error message:
    HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
    $MESSAGE$
    RequestURI=/
Don't know what it means and how to fix it, I even created a new connection manually and it connected successfully but everytime I tried to open Internet explorer or goto any website I get that error...I'm using Windows XP SP2....I really need to get this to work as I'll be needing internet access while on the road...thanks in advance!

    Hi,
the autogenerated modem has the setting
    at+cgdcont=,,"internet"
the string you mentioned seems to be wrong, probably the "ip" must be before the "internet"... changing the string does not give any changes in the behaviour - still 234 bytes received...
but then I changed the "internet" to "internet.t-d1.de" (because I am a customer of T-Mobile in Germany) -> and everything works fine!!!

  • Time Capsule second Modem connection problem.

I bought my new 2TB Time Capsule, and when I set it up for the first time at my office it worked as it was designed to. But Later I got my time capsule to my home and I am trying to connect it to my home Modem and wifi, The amber light is flashing and I am not able to connect to my Time capsule. I have no idea what to do.
Is there any one Who have a solution for this problem, when connecting to the second modem my Time capsule is not working.
I need help to solve this problem, I want to use the Time capsule at home as well as at office.

This will be next to impossible.. the TC will need a full factory reset to work in your home setup.. It simply remembers too much of the office setup to work in the home. The TC is not made to be transported.. it is a network router.
If you want to use it purely as a backup.. then I recommend you use an apple router like airport extreme at both your work and home location.. then you can use the TC as a simple plug in device.. bridged with no other functionality. It is very expensive though for this job.. an external USB drive plugged into your computer will be faster, cheaper and more reliable.

  • Huawei E160 O2 modem connection problems

I have struggled for months with the connectivity on O2 pay as you go with an E160 Huawei modem using O2's mobile partner software. This morning I appear to have solved the problem.
Don't use the rubbish O2 software. Go to system prefs then network. Select the modem then enter the following:
    Telephone number: *99#
    Account name: o2bb
    Password: password
    Goto advanced.
    Select vendor - generic
    Model: GPRS (GSM/3G)
    APN: m-bb.o2.co.uk
Click apply then ok and then connect, and it should work fine.

Great howto dude. Please pass this along to other Mac users around your parts and maybe let O2 know this work around for 10.6..

  • AOL v92 Modem Connection Problem

Just got my mother a 15" Titianium 500Mhz (remember the 500? great machine even today) for use at home, typing work stuff and doodling on the internet. Problem is, went to connect to aol (I know, ugh) and it wouldn't connect. It kept coming back with strange errors: modem doesn't support v92, and unable to configure modem. Both of the errors were generated by the aol app.
The computer is running an up-to-date version of 10.4.5.
    Any thoughts on:
    1) technical issue
    2) dial-up alternatives to aol.
She lives, as mothers are want, in a place without digital cable, and the local dsl rates are ruinous.
    Thanks in advance

    William,
The configuration works for me on my iMac G3.
If you have any questions, please ask them before preceeding.
Delete only the files listed, no more.
Sign off and Quit the AOL application.
    Navigate to:
HD > USERS > YOUR HOME > LIBRARY > PREFERENCES
    If present, move to Trash:
    com.apple.internetpref.plist (a file)
    com.apple.internetconnect.plist (a file)
    com.apple.internetconfig.plist (a file)
HD > USERS > SHARED > AMERICA ONLINE
    If present, move to Trash:
    Access Numbers (a file)
    Disconnect Log (a file)
    Session Diagnostics (a file)
HD > USERS > SHARED > AMERICA ONLINE > DATA
    Move to Trash:
    Home (file w/Globe icon)
Don't empty the Trash just yet.
Before you change the settings below, you might want to make notes, or take screen shots of your present configurations.
Then, open System Preferences > Network
In each of these panels, after you have made your selections or changes, be sure to click on the "Apply Now" button in the lower right corner, if it's available.
    Location: Select "Automatic"
    Show: Select "Internal Modem"
On the PPP screen, click "PPP Options". CHECK ONLY THESE options:
    "Send PPP echo packets"
    "Use TCP header compression"
    Click OK
On the TCP/IP screen, Configure using IPv4: Select "Using PPP"
On the Modem screen, Select your modem from the list. I'm using an iMac (Summer 2001), and I have "Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90)" selected.
Check "Enable error correction and compression in modem"
"Wait for dial tone before dialing"
    "Dialing": Tone
    "Sound": On
"Show modem status in menubar" (This isn't really necessary, but it's handy.)
    Also select your Country.
    Then, still in "Network" preferences,
    Location: "Automatic"
    Show: "Network Port Configurations"
Make sure "Internal Modem" is checked and at the top of the list.
Click "Apply Now" at the bottom of the screen.
    Quit System Preferences.
Before you sign on, you will have to reset your "Access Numbers" & "Location".
    Load the AOL application.
On the Sign-On screen, Click "Setup".
Next screen, select: "Create a Location with Setup Assistant.
    Click OK.
Next screen, select: "Add numbers from the list of access phone numbers".
    Click OK.
Enter your Area Code, and click Next.
Click on an appropriate number to highlight, and then click "Add".
On the next screen, do not select either of the two "Dial" options.
    Click OK.
Add at least 2 numbers in the same manner, and then click "Done".
That will take you back to your Sign-On screen.
On the Sign-On screen, Click "Setup" again.
Select "Add or change a modem or other connection".
    Click "Next".
Click "Yes", on the resulting screen.
You should then be able to Sign On to AOL.
If everything is hunky dory, you can empty the Trash.
    Good Luck!

  • Wireless USB Modem connection problem on MacBook Pro

I am running os x 10.8.2 on my macbook pro and am trying to connect to the internet using an alltel Wireless USB Modem (manual found here: http://pcdphones-client.s3.amazonaws.com/files/709/Alltel_English_Manual.pdf) through verizon. The USB modem works on all my PC's at home and I recently switched to a mac.
I got the software installed when I plugged the USB modem in, but i cannot get it to connect to the internet. When I open the alltel program, I cannot click the connect button and it says "no wireless WWAN device connected" and "no wireless networks defined. To define a network, click on Networks in the Preferences". I've been in the networks tab, but don't really understand how to get it to connect.

When you contacted aaltel what did they have to say?

  • South African iBurst UTID desktop modem connectivity problems

    Dear Forum,
I am posting here out of sheer desperation, I have googled the web and read and tried everything with no success. I live in South Africa and have an Internet connection that works through a wireless UTID desktop modem from an ISP called iBurst. If I connect the modem directly to my PowerMac by means of an ethernet cable everything works perfectly (one connects via PPoE and sets the MTU to 1352).If I put the modem behind the Airport Extreme (which is one of the latest and has been updated to firmware 7.1) the airport extreme is able to connect to the internet via PPoE and certain protocols seem to work from the PowerMac (which is connected to the base station by wireless network) such as traceroute for example. However HTTP does not work. Even if I configure the airport cards MTU on my PowerMac to be 1352 (which is recommended by the ISP) it does not work. I have tried everything I can think of without success.
I have been thinking of connecting my PowerMac to the modem and then sharing the internet connection and then connecting the PowerMac to airport extreme and sharing the internet connection that way ? Will it work ? Please does anyone have any suggestions of how I can hack the MTU of the airport extreme base station or any other suggestions about how to get the internet connection to work properly when behind the extreme base station.
    Thanks in advance
    Vincent

Well I have managed to get something working although it makes use of another Mac. I did the following. I set an old PowerMac up to connect to the iBurst modem through USB, I then shared the Internet connection on the virtual iBurst ethernet port using the built in ethernet port on the PowerMac. I then configured the Airport Extreme to share the Internet connection wirelessly from it's ethernet port. This works, since my other macs can wirelessly connect to the Internet now.Unfortunately it means you have to have the old PowerMac up to use the Internet anywhere else. It's not too much of a pain for me, since the old PowerMac I am using was meant to be a server anyway.
I sure would like a less painful and more elegant solution that only involved the iBurst modem and the Airport Extreme.

    Hi Karsten,
Thank you for the reply !!! & best wishes for the new year 2014.

(NDIS and RAS(Modem) connection types are the 2 modes currently supporetd by the datacard.). Is there any case the users are experiencing from the similar problem? and what they have done to solve the issues? And thank you for the workaroung, i have checked the shrew-soft with win7 and it was working fine but not on win8, i will check shrew-soft on win8 very soon. Also we can move to the anyconnect solution but just want to know if this can solve our problem or not? whether there will be any issues with anyconnect solution for win 8 or not? can you please confim.

  • Network connection problems, please help!

I have had an iPod Touch (4th generation) for over a year now and it worked fine. Today, something went wrong with my network connection. One moment it says that I'm connected to a network, and a few seconds later it says I'm not connected... Then a few seconds later it's connected again. I have full wifi bars, and it does it throughout my whole house. The wifi symbol keeps going on and off. I tried turning my Verizon Westell Model 6100G Modem off and back on because this normally fixes my wifi connection problems. This didn't work. Then I tried turning my iPod off and back on. This didn't work. I tried turning the wifi off and back on. This didn't work. I tried forgetting my network and signing back in. This didn't work. I also tried resetting the network, and this didn't work either. I'm not having any connection problems with my laptop, it's working fine. It's only my iPod. I'm still able to use the wifi, but for a split second, it will not work. I'm not sure what else to do. It's very annoying! I'm going to see if it does this at other peoples houses with their wifi. Can any one tell me what's wrong and how I should fix it? My only theory is a broken antenna...Please help! Thanks!

I have two things you could try.
    1. Plug your iPod into the host computer that which the network is based around because sometimes the network has trouble identifying a device if it has been a while since you plugged it into the computer.
    2. Find some way to get your network information (IP address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS numbers) from another device on the network (e.g. laptop). Then go to Settings > Wi-FI and find your router and tap the blue arrow to the right of the name and tap the tab that says "Static" and enter this information accordingly. Then exit back to the network names menu and re-enter your passcode for your network (assuming you have a passcode)

  • HP Deskjet 460 wireless printer connection problem

I just replaced my Airport Extreme (pre-n) with a Time Capsule. My HP Deskjet 460 WiFi printer no longer connects through wireless. However, configuring the Time Capsule wireless mode to "802.11g/b only" (i.e. no 802.11n) resolves the connection problem.
Any suggestion on how to get the printer to connect with 802.11n enabled?
    Thanks in advance,
    - gael

I also have an HP 460wbt and have similarly replaced my old airport base station with the TC. Without any wireless security the printer connected fine - but couldn't get connection using WPA or WEP. I've tried every combination I can - but have gone back to reconnecting the airport base station alongside the TC with bridging to the ADSL netgear modem I use. This seems a bit like overkill but I just can't get the WPA on the printer to work with the WPA personal options of the TC. Have you any ideas on this one?

  • 10.4.5 connection problems

I recently upgraded to 10.4.5. When I used 10.3.9 my wireless connection was fast and dependable. Since my upgrade my connection and download speeds are a tenth of what they were using 10.3.9. Looking through these posts I see lots of people are experiencing connectivity problems with 10.4.5. I am almost ready to back up, reformat and go back to 10.3.9. Maybe somebody has some suggestions. My setup is as follows:
    1) Cable modem connected to a Linksys Wireless G Access Point.
    2) Third party (Buffalo) Wireless G card in the G4 (worked great with 10.3.9).
    3) Unencrypted wireless network (my house is far enough from the neighbors that security isn't really a concern).
    4) 2 windows computers connected via ethernet cables to the access point.
    5) 1 windows computer with a wireless G USB adapter.
    6) Wireless bridge connecting game consoles.
    Thanks,
    Rick

I have upgraded my network to 10.4.5 and have not experieced any issues with my ibook and my collegues powerbook which connect wirelessly.
I have a cable modem connected to a linksys wifi router without any issues.
However I am not using 3rd party wireless cards. It would sound like the airport driver that ran your card worked better for you under 10.3.9. Rather than revert your OS back to 10.3.9 have you considered using the older airport driver?
There are 2 airport kernel extensions on my 10.4.5 system
    /System/Library/AppleAirport.kext
    /System/Library/AppleAirport2.kext
You could use a utility such as pacifist to extract the airport.kexts from your panther disk and replace them in your current OS.
This hack may or may not work, I have not tried it myself. I dont endorse hacking systems other than my own or provide a guarantee it will work it is just an idea. So be sure to make a backup of your original extensions.

  • How do I share a 3G USB modem connected to my Macbook Pro with my Airport Express?

Hi. I have a 3g USB modem connected to my macbook pro, and I want to try share the signal with my Airport Express (latest model).
Now before everybody screams that it can't be done, I was searching the forums and found a discussion in which someone describes how to do it from 2008, unfortunately it is archived and I couldn't ask the author directly, and the description doesn't go into much detail.
In the thread, the author describes turning internet sharing on to share the USB modem, creating a network on the macbook, then renaming the Airport Express network name the same as the macbook, and setting the AX to Join a Network.
Problem being there is no description of whether the macbook connected to the AX via ethernet or wifi, what settings were changed on the AX eg bridge mode.
Is this possible in theory, and has anybody had any success sharing a 3g USB modem via a macbook pro to an AX? I know there are other options like getting 3g ethernet modems, unfortunately not an option in this case - new house, waiting for DSL to be installed, 2-3 month wait.
    Thanks

Well, you cannot use the 3G USB modem plugged directly into the Express. However, you can configure your MacBook Pro to do 'Internet sharing' (SysPrefs>Sharing) over the Ethernet port, and then connect your Express into the Ethernet port. Alternatively, you could always get your MacBook to 'create a wireless network'.

You could always look for open WiFi networks to *cough*borrow*cough* .

  • New retina MacBook Pro - WiFi connectivity problems

    Dear all,
I've recently purchased the new Haswell 13" retina MBP, and I'm having exactly the same WiFi connectivity problems the 2013 Airs had. I have a solid connection for a short time, and at irregular intervals it just drops out. All of my other devices are still connected and have no problems. I've tried with two different routers/modems, but the problem persists.
Is this a known problem - with hopefully a software fix in the forseeable future, or do I need to return the MacBook?
Many thanks in advance for your help,
    Nic

I haven't got a Retina, but I do have the same wifi problem. And if you've looked at these forums, you'll see it's been going on for years and no one seems to have a handle on what the issue is. All I can say is if I were in your place I'd take it back and exchange it. You have the chance now, so take it.
