RAS Server Issue - Uninstall/Install RAS

Hi,
I've posted a RAS Server issue several weeks ago and still, I haven't gotten my answer.
With this, is it safe/possible to uninstall and install RAS Server? is it safe?
Thanks,
Ken

  • Issue when installing SQL Server Express 2012 - "The requested control is not valid for this service" + "Could not find the database engine startup handle"

    Good morning,
    I'm experiencing the following issue when installing Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 (with tools, SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe) on the laptop of my company;
Installation goes plain until around the end of the progress bar, it stops on the setup of
    SqlEngineDBStartConfigAction_install_configrc_Cpu32
    giving 7-8 times, even pressing "Cancel", the message "The requested control is not valid for this service";
After this, I receive one last message ""Could not find the database engine startup handle", then installation ends with failures, in particular the Database Engine and the Server Replication failed to be installed.
    I've put in my SkyDrive the error log I received after the install;
I'm at full disposal if you need further information,
    thank you in advance
    Best regards
    Francesco

Well, i just ran into this issue and the problem was lack of admin rights. It was my company's laptop so got the setup initiated by my company's IT team with admin rights. However, the upon completion of setup, i go the same error messages as stated above:
    SqlEngineDBStartConfigAction_install_configrc_Cpu32
    giving 7-8 times, even pressing "Cancel", the message "The requested control is not valid for this service";
After this, I receive one last message ""Could not find the database engine startup handle", then installation ends with failures, in particular the Database Engine and the Server Replication failed to be installed.
Also, if you open SQL Server Configuration, the status of the service is "Change Pending" and you would not be able to set the startup login type to Local Service/System/Network.
Then, I just got my account added as Local Admin and then tried to start the service and was able to.
However, I am not sure whether same was the case for you.
Please mark the answer as helpful if i have answered your query. Thanks and Regards, Kartar Rana

  • Facing Issue while Installing SOA server for setting up BPM11g working environment

    Hi All,
I have been able to install Database and Weblogic Server but I am facing issue in installing SOA server.
I am trying to install it for running BPM 11g application.
I saw the same problem has already been answered but available solutions are not resolving my problem.
Error Message:Provide the JDK/JRE location while launching the installer.Invoke the setup.exe with -jreLoc<JDK/JRE location absolute path>parameter(s).
I tried both way for initializing the installation. i.e directly through setup.exe and by command prompt but in both the cases I am getting same error.
It is not asking for Java path in command prompt also.
a)In my system java 7 is installed.
b)I have used Oracle Database 11g instead of XE
    Can this be the reason?
    I checked Program Files:
    jre7 and jdk1.7.0_45 are there.
I also have set JAVA_HOME in environment variable as C:\Program Files\java\jre7
    path :C:\Program Files\java\jdk1.7.0_45\bin
Please help me in fixing this as I am stuck in this installation from last few days.
    Thanks!

    Hi Binay,
You might want to consider instead installing it using JDK 1.6.
Here's where you can check the Fusion Middleware configurations:  http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11gr1certmatrix.xls
It's buried in there, but bottom line is that Oracle BPM 11g (PS6) 11.1.1.7 needs JDK 1.6 (for Windows it is either JDK 1.6.0_35 or JRockit 6 Update 37 R28.2.5+) and I'd suggest you use JRockit.

  • Issues while install Application server

    Hi all,
I am trying to install application server for the first time. while installing I am getting the error in the REGISTER with Internet directory screen,
It has two fields to enter
    1. HOST : I assume machine name in which the S/w is getting installed
    2. PORT : Please tell me the port number which I have to enter here?
Ther version I am trying to intall is,
    APPLICATION SERVER 10g (10.1.2.0.2)
    One more doubt,
Is Oracle map viewer is available with APPLICATION SERVER 10g (10.1.2.0.2)??
    Please help
    -Thanks & Cheers
    Antony

The Application Server can be installed one of three ways
    1) J2EE and WebCache
    2) Portal and Wireless
    3) BI and Forms
Option 1) J2EE and WebCache is just that, only the Oracle Container for Java (OC4J) J2EE server and a WebCache/WebServer
Option 2) includes option 1 plus adds Oracle's Portal product with an optional Wireless enviorment (for displaying on things like phones, pda's, etc).
Option 3) includes option 1 & 2 plus adds Discoverer (BI) and Oracle Forms
Options 2 and 3 require an Infrastructure server be installed prior to the Application Server install. This is the Oracle Internet Directory server (OID). This can be installed on the same machine, but I recommend a seperate host if this is going to be a production box. Same host installs will work fine for learning/classroom.
The OID server is installed from the same install as Application Server. It was one of the options early in the install. All of the documentation ships with the install media (both download & CD/DVD) Look in your install & find the doc directory. Launch the doc.htm in a web browser. The Install Guide goes through all of this in detail.

  • SQL Server 2008 + 2008r2 install

    Hello,
I have SQL Server 2005 express installed on my Windows 2008 server
I installed SQL Server 2008 express on my machine.
I didn't add the tools - so I donwloaded and installed the tools afterwards.
I accidentally downloaded and installed the SQL express 2008  R2 tools. I realised my mistake so tried to uninstall 2008 R2 (which also seems to have installed 2008 r2 server as well - even though it was just the tools download)
2008 r2 failed to uninstall. So, I tried to uninstall 2008 as well and start from scratch. But the install fails to 2008 as well. The binary files are still there and both still appear in the add/remove programs list.
    Should I just re-install 2008 with tools?
Will there be any conflicts if 2008 r2 is still "hanging around"
    Thanks
    Ronnie

As Olaf mentioned, you can run multiple versions of SQL Server on the same machine without any issues. The SSMS client tools support down-level connections and will "light up" functionality based on the version you connect to. Ex: If you have 2008
R2 SSMS and connect to an instance of SQL Server 2000 versus an instance of SQL Server 2008 R2, you will see a much different set of functionality.  As a general rule, I typically stick to always running the client tools from the highest version of the
database engine that I have on that particular machine.

  • Verity Search Server Issues

Anyone else have this issue when trying to use cfsearch
    against a
collection? If so, was there a fix? We installed the search
    server when we
installed CF8 as a package install.
Message Unable to connect to the ColdFusion Search service.
Detail On Windows, you may need to start the ColdFusion
    Search Server from
    the services control panel.
On Unix, you may need to run the search startup script in the
    ColdFusion bin
    directory.
Error: java.io.IOException: unable to obtain from connection
    pool: cannot
make connection to server at: k2://localhost:9951
I restarted the search server about 10 times and even tried
    the uninstall
and install bat files. Nothing seems to work. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried just re-installing the CF8
Search server, but it still didn't work so I uninstalled it and
then reinstalled it. After that I was able to create the new
collections and finally, re-index the new collections. All seems
well for now. I have four more systems to recreate the collections
for and then re-index all of them.
This whole thing begs the questions:
    1. How long is this installation going to survive?
    2. Is this an indication of a very fragile product?
    3. Are you and I the only ones having problems?
    4. Are you and I the only ones using CF8 Verity?
    5. Is Adobe aware of any problems with CF8 Verity?
    6. Is there something wrong with my code that has worked
    successfully with CF4, CF5 & CF6 now that I'm using CF8?
I’m sure there are other questions that should be asked
but I’m too tired and hungry to think about them right now.
    Thanks again for your insight.

  • Temporary Server Issue

    Hi,
I just installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 on my newly installed Windows 7 Ultimate computer. When I try to sign in a message pops up saying "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues." I have read other forums and this seems
to be an ongoing issue. I have looked at the Procmon and everything seems to be working. Is there anyway I can fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Please verify whether you have installed the following updates: (KB2768349,
    KB2767861, andKB2760624
    Uninstalling these updates may help.
Then, to run an online repair, follow these steps:
    1.Open Control Panel.
    2.Click Programs and Features.
    3.Click Microsoft Office 2013.
4.Click Change, click Online Repair, and then click Repair.
If that doesn’t work, we recommend you to pen up IE.  Choose "Internet Options".  Select the "Advanced" tab.
At the bottom it says, "reset internet explorer settings" . click "Reset".
Check the "Delete personal settings".  Click "Reset"
    Restart your computer.

  • I can't uninstall/install FireFox due to a pop-up that says: Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox..."

This problem arose when I attempted to upgrade my existing FireFox browser to the new FireFox 7. I clicked through the auto-update, but didn't think that anything changed, as the browser didn't look like the image in the feature explanation image I was viewing. I then tried to download Firefox 7, and when I tried to instal it, this process began.
I can't uninstall/install FireFox due to a pop-up that says: Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox..." When restarted and attempted again, the same pop up appears and I am stuck in an infinite loop.
I cannot locate the Mozilla file within my program files to try and delete cantankerous upgrade components, which seems to resolve this issue for many people. See: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/796566
I also tried completely deleting Firefox, which didn't work either-- I ended up doing a system restore, only to be met with the same infinite loop.
Now, when I click on the Mozilla icon, nothing happens. No window opens, no error message, nothing.
Why can't I find the Mozilla folder in my Programs File but can see it in Control Panel "Add or Remove Programs" (though I can't uninstal due to infinite loop)?

It is probably because you are not properly closing Firefox. Restarting your system would make sure that Firefox had terminated, but you do not have to do that.
To properly close Firefox on Windows systems, use
:File > Exit or "Firefox:" button > Exit
When you get the message "Firefox is already running" it is too late, and you must force termination of Firefox through the Windows Task Manager before restarting Firefox. Windows 7 has a keyboard shortcut to save you a step "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" then on "Processes" tab, select "firefox.exe" and use the "End Process" button. More thorough would be to right-click on the "firefox.exec" and choose "End Process Tree".
You would find firefox.exe in a Mozilla folder in your program files, but y0u would not want to delete it there, you would need to use the Control Panel which you have already identified and do it from there -- but generally you would not need to do that, and there is nothing in what you have posted to indicate that you should. But if you did do that, then don't let the install start Firefox for you as you would want to use you existing desktop icon or method of starting Firefox, and should decline having Firefox install start Firefox for you. When the install starts then invoke Firefox in your normal manner. This should eliminate problems of creating a new profile rather than using your old profile.

  • Problematic issues in installing backup domain controller on Virtual Machine

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
I have a physical domain controller - windows Server 2012 R2 Standard installed
in my domain environment and this is a first root domain controller.
I have also Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 installed and joined in that domain.
Now I want to install an additional (Backup) domain controller as a virtual
machine hosted on Hyper-V Server. So while promoting VM as a DC all actions and
steps go well but the problem arise when I press the install button at the end
of the promotion - installation gets stuck in the process of writing some
configuration files on first DC and also in the process of replication. Unfortunately
VM does not promote as a DC and it goes to restart.
The error event log with - NETLOGON source is logged on the virtual machine as
    well.
Do you have some suggestions with this issue, or experience how to resolve this..
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    GMG
    <o:p></o:p>

Now I want to install an additional (Backup) domain controller
There is no backup DC. All DCs are RW except RODCs.
I would recommend first checking the health status of the existing DC using
dcdiag command. Also, please check the IP settings in use: Please make sure that the existing DC has its primary IP address in use and that public DNS servers are set as forwarders and not in IP settings of the DC. For the new DC, please make sure
that it points to the existing DC as primary DNS server and once promoted you can see the recommendations here to update the configuration: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18513.active-directory-replication-issues-basic-troubleshooting-steps-single-ad-domain-in-a-single-ad-forest.aspx
Please also disable temporary all security software in use on the DCs and make sure that needed ports for AD replication and authentication are not blocked or filtered between the DCs.
