Raster image export, coming from CorelDraw background

I have a logo. And would like to export it in a specific size raster image. In corel, at export time, I would have specified the pixel dimensions for my final image and everything would be set. In Illustrator I am still lost. Should I modify the artboard, each time I need a different size? Or how to I export a logo in a fixed size raster image?

Depends on what formats you need. Save for web has a resize option, but naturally only will save JPG, PNG and GIF. For everything else indeed the DPI of the document, the size of the artwork and possibly the artboard dimensions matter most. This could possibly be facilitated with some recorded actions. The simpler answer might be to import/ copy&paste your artwork as a smart object in Photoshop and export your multiple size versions from there by resizing the SO or the iamge in its entirety...

Exporting Graphics from CorelDraw to Flash

Hi,
I'm having issues exporting from CorelDraw (v 12) to Flash
(v8.0).
I searched the forum but only found posts suggesting things
I've already tried {
swf}
eps/ai}.
What's happening is that any file type I've tried to export
from CorelDRAW appears to corrupt in some way when imported into
Flash. This is the
original
image in Corel. If this is saved as an .swf, then imported to
flash, it appears
like
this (note various missing lines). If the graphic is copied and
pasted directly from Corel into flash, different errors appear,
this
is a zoom of the uppermost corner - note the non-meeting lines,
and lack of bolding/dashing on the lines where it previously
existed. Saving as either EPS or AI and importing causes different
errors again, usually in terms of really badly vivid colours.
I know that with CorelDRAW v9 a plug-in existed which helped
export as an swf which imported OK into flash. Does a similar
plug-in exist for Corel 12, or has anyone got any other
suggestions?

Corel is a terrible program - I think thats where your
problem is. Make sure you're working (in Corel) in RGB, as that
could cause color difference. As per the lines not meeting up,
thats just zany. eps/ai/swf all keep the vector-ness alive, but if
thats not working, and you absolutely must work in Corel (they do
sponsor tennis tournaments, after-all, thats nice of them), I would
try a bitmapped solution. (png/jpg/gif) It'll up your filesize and
negate the vector positives, but at least it will look like you
want it to.

I am very new to the photoshop world and am trying to remove an image from its background ( as a stand-alone) and save it. Is there a way to do this in Photoshop CS6? I have looked at tutorials but only found how to remove the image but not how to save the image as a stand alone with no background.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Erika,
Are you trying to save a portion of an image with a transparent background? It may help to post a screenshot of the image that you're working with as well as your layers panel.

Deleting a background and saving an image with a transparent background
1. Here I am working with an image of a santa hat that I've cut out from a white background. I have two layers, the cut-out santa hat and the original file. I'm going to delete the background layer so that I have just one layer - the cut-out santa hat:
2. You'll see that a checkerboard pattern has appeared behind the santa hat. This means that the background is transparent.
3. You can then go to File > Save As... and select PNG, Photoshop PSD, or TIFF from the Format dropdown menu. These file formats will save the cut-out portion of your image on its own, while preserving the transparent background.

Assuming you did this with a Fill Layer, double-click the thumbnail in the Layers panel to bring up the Gradient Fill dialog, see to it that the [ ] Align with layer checkbox is set, and (while the Gradient Fill dialog is still up) try dragging the gradient to where you want it on the main display. Then [ OK ] out of the Gradient Fill dialog.

Image coming from an xml source and on which we can't click...

Is it possible in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 (or in coming version of the software) to disable the click event on ImageField ?
I read that it is not possible yet but there is may be another solution to proceed to have an image coming from an xml source and on which we can't click.

Yes , you can disable image field by setting acces value to readOnly.
Example:
imageField1.access = "readOnly";
It works for Adobe Reader 9

Is this an effective process for developing CSS based layouts? Are there any proven tricks to improve the quality of the resulting structure?

It's a starting point, but it does not exempt you from understanding
XHTML and CSS. Currently there are some limitations to what the script
will export: it ignores additional states, javascript behaviors and
won't export more than 1 page at a time. Keep in mind this is just the
"first kick" and we'll no doubt see this feature embellished.
I recommend that you download and read about the updated CSS and
Images export script, modified by Matt Stow. You can find the new
script and his article here:

Still image export is not exporting interlaced images from interlaced video

I'm doing some quality tests and the video i have is 60i and i'd like to export stills from the 60i, but when i run it through quicktime conversion>export still image the resulting file has been deinterlaced. i've tried multiple formats and multiple frames, and it's always deinterlaced.
to restate, the video is interlaced and i want stills that reflect exactly how the video is and fcp is deinterlacing the still exports.

I usually export stills using the export queue, and I too have noticed that FCP6 now seems to de-interlace and resize the stills to square pixel dimensions automatically. I can't find any way to control or deactivate this option - anyone know?

How to remove banding from exported images (png, tiff) from illustrator layout with gradient

is there any way to remove or reduce banding that I am getting in a layout I've done that contains a gradient? I am exporting raster images (png or tiff) and there is a noticeable stepping of tonalities, rather than a smooth shift

In an 8bit format like PNG you only have 1024 unique levels...
1024 is 10 bits. 8 bits is 256.
But PNG is an RGB 8-bit per channel format. That yields 256^3 (i.e.; 24-bit or 16.7 million) potential "levels" (colors).

What are the specific color values involved?
What is the final use?
What will be the distance across the gradient in its final use?
You have to consider whether the banding is actually in the raster image, or if it is merely an artifact of where/how the image is being viewed.
Banding is not a simple matter of image color depth. Banding is a device-dependent phenomena. The banding you see on your monitor is not the same banding that will be seen on your grayscale laser printer; is not the same banding that will be seen on your CMYK inkjet printer; is not the same banding that will be seen on press. Banding in print is generally more a function of levels of gray (per separation) of the imaging device, and can vary depending on the halftone ruling (assuming conventional AM screening).
Depending on the answers to the questions above, you may very well be fretting over nothing.

Noise/grainy problems with images exported into photoshop cc from lightroom after photoshop & lightroom updates

I can't figure it out. After updating photoshop from the c6 version to the newer cc, and after also an update to lightroom through my creative cloud app, all photos exported now from lightroom into photoshop are extremely noisy and poor quality. I have adjusting settings I thought to back where I had them, but the images still don't look right. Can you help me? Slammed with photos to edit for paid gigs! Panicking. These are raw files.

My interpretation of what the OP’s situation, that they are adjusting noise-reduction and sharpening to their liking in LR, the using Edit In PS (not Exporting despite using that word) into PS and what they see in PS is much nosier than what they saw in LR and are wondering why things look different between LR and PS.
My guess as to the problem is that they’re adjusting LR-Detail settings (Sharpness and NR) using Fit zoom instead of 1:1 zoom and then viewing the image in PS, perhaps at 1:1 zoom or even at Fit-to-Window zoom in PS, and that LR’s resampling and PS’s resampling of the image for fitting to the screen are a bit different and PS’s looks rougher.
Unless the OP is comparing LR and PS at 1:1 or 100% zoom, differences are to be expected.

Problem with exported jpegs from CS5 PSDs with transparent backgrounds

I've detected an issue where when exporting jpegs from a CS5 PSD layered file with a transparent background, the jpegs don't have a pure white background (255, 255, 255). They seem to range from 250, 250, 250 to 253, 253, 253.
LR3 with same export settings does not show this behavior--it's pure white: 255, 255, 255.

I hear very soft audio (advertising) in the background - how can I get rid of it? Cannot tel where it is coming from.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Exracting a transparent image from black background

Hey all! A little bit confused on a project. I have an image that is semi-transparent. I am able to take the black out of the background around it, but am unsure about how to remove the acutal background from behind the image. I need to superimpose this image onto another-hence the background change. Any tips or ideas? I have the newest version of PS. Please help!

I saw Corey Barker do a demo where he extracted an image from the background, then cleaned up the edge with a process that allowed him to de-fringe it. I can't remember how he did it. And I can't find it. Help!

I saw Corey Barker do a demo a few weeks ago where he extracted an image from the background, then used a technique I was not familiar with to clean it up. You selected the area, then did something that involved going either to edit or select, then there was a dialog box that allowed you to dial it in, depending on the color background you were removing. I can't find this anywhere. Can't remember. It's driving me crazy! If someone can help me find this, I would be very glad and grateful. Thanks! Laura

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.
