Rasterize vectors within Acrobat

I don't know much about third-party software for Acrobat. I am looking for a way to quickly select individual vector elements within a PDF and then rasterize those items so they have a transparent background. Similar to how Illustrator allows one to do this. Ultimately I want to select certain unsupported blend objects (non-native art objects) and rasterize those elements. Because of our archaic workflow, this rasterization step will solve certain RIP issues. But I don't want to resort to rasterizing the entire PDF or rely on opening the PDF (or affected art) in Illustrator.
Does anyone know of a plugin or other possible solution?
Thanks,
Jeff

If you're talking about postscript 3 specific objects such as smooth
shades then ... no. It is possible to convert the whole page by applying
a transparency watermark and then using the flattener or using say
Pitstop to convert just text to outlines.
Enfocus Neo might be able to convert but at $5,000 it's probably best to
upgrade your RIP and be done with it ;-)

  • How do I reduce the bit depth of images to 1-bit within Acrobat 9?

I am hoping a simple solution exists within Acrobat 9 for reducing the bit-depth of images to 1-bit.
I know of two methods that both seem more like workarounds. One, edit the image using Photoshop. Two, without Photoshop, export the page as a 1-bit PNG and recreate the page in Acrobat. It seems like one of the preflight fixups should be able to get it done with the right settings. But, it's a labyrinth of unfamiliarity.

There's no predefined 1-bit conversion in Preflight because it doesn't make sense. Preflight will not dither bitmaps, so most images will become black squares. Extreme color conversion is only intended for text/vector objects.
If you want to try it anyway, you can create a custom Fixup if you have a  1-bit ICC profile.
    Preflight > Single Fixups
Options menu > Create new Preflight Fixup
Name it something like "Convert all to 1-bit BW"
Search for "Convert colors" in the type of fixup box and add it
Destination tab > Destination > your ICC profile for 1-bit black
Uncheck "use destination from Output Intent"
Keep everything else as default, though I'd suggest using "Embed as output intent for PDF/X" if you're making PDF/X documents
Conversion Settings tab > All Objects + Any Color (except spot) + Convert to destination + Use rendering intent
Press the + key to duplicate this step, and change the second copy to "Spot Color(s)"
Press + again and change the third copy to "Registration color"
Save the fixup and run it.
In case you don't have a 1-bit  ICC profile installed, I've attached one.

  • Create PDF from a Word document within Acrobat

    Hi!
I am having trouble to create a PDF from a Word document within Acrobat itself, and not by using PDF Maker in Word. When I try to create a PDF using Acrobat, it gives me the choice to choose any Office format file, but Word format doesn't appear. I can convert from an Excel document or a PowerPoint document, but not from a Word document, even if Word 2010 is installed and works perferctly. Why?
I know I can make a PDF in Word itself by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or by using PDF Maker, but I want to resolve the issue in Acrobat that prevents me to select a Word document in the Create PDF dialog window. You can see the dialog box in the screenshot attached.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Acrobat X version 10.1.8 on Windows 7 Home Premium and I have Office 2010 installed (with Word 2010).

Thanks for your reply. PDF Maker works in all of my Office applications. However, in Acrobat, the file formats available for me to create PDF from figure all the Office file formats except the one for Word. This is not normal. At my school, Acrobat X and Office 2007 are installed, and I can use there both PDF Maker in Word and creating PDF from Word document within Acrobat.
So I think maybe there's a key in my Windows registry that is not set correctly? or something like that. I repaired the installation of Office 2010, and I did so for Acrobat X too, but it doesn't help. Any idea of how I can resolve that?

  • Adobe Send within Acrobat XI Std - Integration with Outlook 2013

I recently upgraded a user from Office 2007 to Office 2013.  The install for Office 2013 was a fresh install (not a true upgrade).  Prior to the upgrade, the user was able to use the Adobe Send feature within Acrobat XI Standard (11.0.10) to send documents to multiple recipients without the need to type everyone's email address in.  After the upgrade, the feature to use Adobe Send within Acrobat XI seems to have vanished, forcing the user the log in via the browser, but this requires typing out the email address for each recipient.  As one can guess, it's a very tedious process, especially given how it worked like a charm for her prior to the upgrade.
Is there a feature or add-on that needs to be applied for Outlook 2013 and Acrobat XI to be integrated?

I don't know why Send is not working from Acrobat, but since you're using Outlook 2013, you might try our Outlook plugin -- https://www.acrobat.com/en_us/landing/adobesend-outlook-plugin.html

  • URL works within Acrobat Standard and and not within Acrobat Reader...

    Hello.
I faced a really strange thing today.  I created a report PDF through Xcelsius.  In this PDF, I have a Flash button which, when clicked, would link to an Excel (.xls) file within our LAN.  The link works within Acrobat Standard 8.0 but not within Acrobat Reader 9.0.  I have examined the preferences on both and they are identical (as far as I can see).
    Details:
    Software used:  Xcelsius 2008 SP1
                           Acrobat Standard 8.0.0
    Link address:   G:\Management\[sub-directory]\[sub-sub-directory]\[filename].xls
Any help at all will be welcomed and appreciated.
    Thank you!

I am trying to open the .xls in Excel through a web browser.   There is no scripting to the link, simply a file:\\ address that would pull up the spreadsheet (with macros) in IE 7 and above.
Addendum:  I uninstalled my Acrobat Reader 9.0 and installed Reader 8.2 and the link worked!  Strange.  I do, however, need it to work in 9.0 as there is a mix of Acrobat Reader versions within the hospital.

  • How to make use of the index in my manual within Acrobat

I've created an index in my FrameMaker book and would like it to be of use when it's converted to PDF.
An index is most useful if it's provided in hard copy. How can I make it useful in Acrobat?
Do I do something within Frame or Acrobat or both?
Also, when I convert my document to PDF with bookmarks, a bookmark does not appear for my index.
    I have Acrobat 9 Pro.
    Thank you!

In the book file, right-click the index file and select Set up Standard Index. In the subsequent dialog box, select Create Hypertext Links. Click Set. Update the book.
When you print the book, click PDF Setup. In the Links tab, select Create Named Destinations for All Elements and Paragraphs.
To make the Index appear in the bookmarks, check that its paragraph format style is included in the Include paragraphs list in the PDF setup dialog box.
    Hope this helps,
    Van

  • Export PDF Rasterize Vectors but retain text

I'm running ID3 on 10.5.7 I have a file which is over 100pp and is very vector graphic heavy. My PDF's are coming out at 7.4MB on the smallest file size setting. I know I can raster the whole page but this makes alos makes the file size to big. What I want to do is have a half way setting and rasterize the vectors only and retain the text.
Is this possible? Can someone explain to me how to achieve this without going back and saving out all images from Illustrator as JPEG's and replaceing them in InDesign?

There was another thread about this just yesterday. http://forums.adobe.com/message/2090197#2090197
There was a comment in this link http://indesignsecrets.com/creating-smaller-pdfs-from-a-vector-dense-book.php that seemed to indicate you could rasterize the vector graphics, but not the text, by adjusting the balance in the flattener.

  • Cannot find a Vector within a Vector

Yo. Another noob askin about elements within a Vector.
I'm working on a OOP project in BlueJ. First time doing so, so my code is still kinda procedural (with many listeners in the same document, etc etc)
I'm creating a simulation of a 7-a-side football game. I have stored the players of each team into a vector (e.g Vector 'Chelsea' would contain 7 player objects).
I've only created three teams for simplicity, and stored these three Vectors into another Vector called 'teams'.
(the whole purpose of storing them in vectors btw, is so I don't have to pass many different player objects as arguments -
i can just send the vector, and extract them within the Listener classes)
I'm now in the new class (Start_game) and i've passed the vector to the class.
    When I use the statement:
                     if (teams.contains(Arsenal))
                                  +some code+
}I get the error message: cannot find variable 'Arsenal', when I try to compile the program.
Here's the code for the first class:

  • Set comp to always continuously rasterize vector files.

Hey, just reaching out to see if anyone knows a setting or secret way of making a composition always apply continuous rasterization to any vector (Illustrator) layer that is dropping into the composition?
I checked under the comp settings and under the Illustrator interperate footage settings and couldnt find anything.
    Thanks in advance.

As Todd said, it doesn't exist and on a more general level it would make zero sense to have such a switch considering how it also affects render order of other elements, collapses transforms and passes through belnding modes of nested items and a ton of otehr things. It may work for what you have in mind, but otehrwise would be very much a nightmare to deal with.

  • How do you save a pdf to Adobe Document Cloud from within Acrobat Pro DC?

I have a full Creative Cloud account so I now have the updated Acrobat Pro DC for both my pc and my iPhone.
On my iPhone, when I opened a pdf I was given the option to save the file to Document Cloud. But on the PC, how do I open this file or others on Document Cloud, and how do I save a file to Document Cloud?
    Thanks,
    Rob

These are the screens that I am presented with when trying to save or open a file in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I am logged in with my account and have mobile sharing activated on my iOS app.
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Problems printing from within Acrobat 7.0 Professional

I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise SP2 that´s running Terminal Server. Acrobat 7 professional and several network attached printers installed. Now to my problem: Users seem to be able to print from all applications except Acrobat. They get the errormessage: "Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer". It doesn´t seem to matter if I give the user administrator rights or if I change the default printer, I have tried several.
Anybody with an idea how I can solve this problem?

I recommend you post in the Acrobat forum. This forum is for issues
with setting up and performing enterprise installations, not how the
    installed software runs.

  • After Update from 9.1.3 - 9.2.0 on OSX4.11 No way to Print PDF's within Acrobat 9.

As I blindly do, I updated 9.1.3 to Acrobat 9.2.0 (now I know why the updater didn't work). I no long am able to Print a PDF from Acrobat.
I can do so with Apple Preview.
When I go to print I receive this error:
Any solution other than do a complete remove and reinstall of Acrobat up to Acrobat 9.1.3.?

Have you tried re-installing the driver and if that fails resetting the printer subsystem? That pictwpstops error is ringing a bell, but I just cannot remember for exactly what. Some sites on the net indicated that it is a font issue. You might try clearing your font cache.
Yes I have reinstalled Driver. and I have reset The printer system. Just wen through fonts the other day with fontbook to verify that fonts were okay.  But did tell it to resolve conflicts.
Just ran AppleJack (I have OSX.4.11) and it cleaned all the fonts Caches unless it doesn't touch acrobat font caches. I let it run through all steps.  Tried after doing this I'll go back and try something and report Back.

  • Print to PDF from within Acrobat Pro X

I keep reading threads here and there about users having the same issues that I'm having with Acrobat Pro X... I used to be able to print a portion of a PDF file to create another PDF... I see a lot of answers like SAVE AS and EXTRACTing pages... While this may work in some situations, I haven't found an easy way to achieve the results that I was getting from the "Print to PDF" option.
I work with files that have many pages of large CAD drawings... I am constantly finding the need to send PDF's of portions of the detailed drawings... It used to be as easy as zooming to the detail in question, select Print>Adobe PDF>Current Viewthen I could quickly mark up the detail and email it...
I've tried SAVE AS and EXTRACT, but I then have to DELETE the unwanted pages, then CROP the detail and save... this gets rather tedious when involved with multiple drawings, pages and details... There's got to be a better way...
    Thanks
    Drew

    1. Correction - the deployed machines are running 10.1.7 (not 10.1.17)
    2. The majority of our machines are running 32bit, I have not tested the 64bit installations to see if they exhibit the same problems.
    3. I didn't expect that printing to an open pdf would be possible. The point was that in attempting to do so, no error message is generated and the pdf printer / IE hang. Closing the open pdf does not release them. Anyway, I suspect this is a separate issue and af far less importance to me.
I've had to be away from the office most of today so have not done much more testing. I'll update as soon as I have.

  • Is it possible to create an "interactive table" within acrobat?

I am trying to create and shorten an existing large document, and one option that would be very helpful is to have a drop down table selection.  To elaborate:
have a selection button that would allow user to select a specific option, then this option would bring up or allow a selectable table - the tables would be multi-entry tables which users of the document can enter in data within the table fields - can this be done?
One other option could be the selection button does not have to "pull" up the specific table or be directly linked, but as long as the users can make a selection in one field, then select a specific table...this would work.  So to simplify this, can multiple tables be inserted into a drop down menu?

thanks again - I really think that layout will really work and I can make the initial top level drop down specific to the equipment and the tables or text fields below that will really work.
now what would be the best avenue to add additional entry fields into each?  can I just do a "select object" and copy / paste this below the existing?
here is example of the tables:
    EQUIPMENT VERSION 1 TEST 1
    PARAMETER
    VALUE
    BASE PRESSURE
    START PRESSURE
    END PRESSURE
    SYSTEM VOLUME
    ACCEPTANCE THRESHOLD
    EQUIPMENT VERSION 2 TEST 3
    TIME
    PRESSURE

    PRESSURE
    COMMENT
    0
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
The remaininig cells will allow user to enter in basic data taken from tests they are performing on the equipment, but the tables (created here in the discussion) will look very similar to these two tables....and they will slighly vary with some of the cell assignments between one type of equipment to the next ) which again I want to create a "drop down" selection at the header of the page that will select the specific equipment.
and thanks again for the helpful info  -
