  • Can I use the iOS remote app to rate iTunes songs on my Mac

I have the Apple iOS remote app on my iPad I was wondering if I could use this to rate songs as I'm listening to them instead of having to walk to my Mac and and change the rating in iTunes

An Apple TV has an interface that requires navigation, the alternative was offered to counter the need for your TV (if one was using home sharing they would also need a computer up and running). If the content is being streamed using airplay then you can change the content using your IOS device remotely.
If that does not work for you, can provide feedback to Apple if you wish.

  • Can't change sample rate for digital input on Mac Pro

    Hello all,
on my Mac Pro with 10.4.10 I can't change the sample rate for the digital input. Whenever I choose 48000 or 96000 Hz it returns to 44100 Hz after a few seconds. Feeding a 24 bit/96000 Hz signal from an external ADC into the optical input doesn't help. No input signal is available for digital recording software such as Sound Studio or Cubase. After changing the sample rate in audio midi configuration to 96000 Hz the sound can be heard for a few seconds but when the setup returns to 44100 automatically the signal is, of course, lost.
I've deleted all relevant preferences and restarted with resetting paramter RAM. Still the same. With external hardware such as M-Audio Firewire equipment setting the sample rates works properly.
Thanks to all for helpful clues.

    Hi,
when E&M signaling is configured on digital interface like the VWIC is, 2 or 4 wires operation is not applicable because there are no wires at all, and reported only for compatibility with the analog E&M card.
Consequently, you cannot configure that and it will not make any difference to effect of the connection.
Please rate post if it helps!

  • Audio rate problem? or tired MAC?

Hi everyone, I do hope that someone can help me..
in this (for me) important moment..!
I have an Final Cut project, which includes different versions (language,
length, with logos etc )of one movie.
Now I am finishing the English subtitled version and I
haven't yet backed up the finished movie in a tape.
But my Mac, which has continued doing editing for 1 year and half,
recently acts strange; the immage and the sound becomes unsyclonized.
Yes, it is not a new problem, but 4 times out of 5 the cassettes
don't come out perfectly, which seems to me too much.
The MAc also show the problem with Final Cut HD: the immage doesn't show
up in a conectted video camera, so I can't make a cassette at all.
    The problem 1:
I have stupidly built the project
inside the computer not in external HD, so I can't reinstall
    the operation.
(The free space now is 90Gb. Doesn't seem too small..)
    The problem2:
Only now I have found that one of the long video clips that
I used for all the versions have a strange audio rate: 48.001 Khz.(Pricisly
it also shows 48000.8Hz in browser.)
When I see this clip in the Viewer it makes PI PI PI sounds,
but since I had finished editings before in Imovie, I didn't notice them.
Moreover, until now other versions from which I made cassettes didn't show
any strange problems even though the audio rate was also slightly different.
    My question is:
    1
In general, when you find a clip like this (with strange audio rate )
is it necessary to replace it with a new video clip? What is the cause??
Could it cause problems when I will make a DVD with
DVD studio Pro, exporting Quicktime mov. file into it?
    2
To refresh my computer.. (it seems an only solution.. isn't it?)
will it be risky if I bring my Mac to a technical support to have it
reinstall, saving all date of Final cut project? Could it damage the project??
Could it be helpful makink a quicktime DV pal file to save the timeline,
so that I can reimport it in Final in the case of damaged project?
If someone has a good solution..I will appreciate it very much.
    Thank you!
    Minobu

Hi Al, thank you for the post,
    RAM is "1.5GB DDR2 SDRam".
The footage was originally captured into imovie; secondly
it was exported into a cassette. (The project was purely Imovie one
before I started subtitling it with various color and sound correction.)
    And then I imported it into a Final. But the process was all complicated;
I had mixed several cassettes to compose one timeline..because
some cassettes from Imovie timeline had dropframes.
I wouldn't be able to refix it anymore..
Now I am trying to export the timeline into Quicktime DV-PAL file,
at least to be able to try making a DVD in DVD studio pro,
and to save the finished movie in someway.
(Isn't Quicktime DV-PAL file re-importable into Finalcut project? Or is ther
any other format that can be helpful for me? )
    Grazie,
    MInobu

  • FMLE + shure x2u on mac

    Hi everyone,
Here is an help for those who had the same problem : FMLE mac doesn't recognize the shure x2u, although mac os recognise it properly.
The solution is to create an aggregate device (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1215) which includes the shure x2u, and the aggregate is then recognised by fmle...

  • MAC-Miss Rate on ACE module

What exactly does the MAC-Miss rate mean on the ACE? And if we are running out of resources for it, should I worry?
We have only implemented 1 production policy on the ACE module so far and we are already running out of resources for the mac-miss rate. All other resources look good.
Is this OK? Or is something wrong here?
Attached is the resource usage counters.
    Thanks,
    Ben

When the ACE receives traffic for which it does not have an arp entry for either the source or destination, this is called a mac-miss and the fastpath agent needs to ask the slowpath agent to perform an arp request.
    This communication is rate-limited.
With no mac entry for a src or dst, we drop the packet.
So, you should increase the resource.
    Or review your design.
It's best to have the clients coming through a gateway (ie: the MSFC) instead of directly accessing the ACE.
This way only 1 mac entry is needed - the gateway.
You'll see a counter like this
    switch/Admin# sho np 1 me-stats "-socm -v" | i mac
Drop [mac lookup fail]: 4 0

  • Mac mini server - Can't access Internet

Hello. Using a Mac mini server as the media server for my house. Not really using any of the Snow Leopard Server services though. Wanted the larger hard drive and didn't need an optical drive so this was perfect for me. At any rate, recently noticed that the Mac mini can't access the Internet. It talks to the other Macs and Apple TVs in the house fine but it can't load a web page. I looked at the preferences and everything and can't see anything wrong. Plus, all my other computers get on the web fine. Any ideas? Is there a specific setting I should check? Thanks in advance.

Can you describe your LAN and how it connects to the internet, as well as how the device that acts as your router is configured to interact with the computers on your LAN and how the individual computers are configured to connect to the routing device?

  • Jerkyness observed when live video encoded on FMLE

    Hi All,
I am trying to encode live stream using FMLE 3.2 on mac mini.
Input is of 1.5mbps with 640x480. It is coming throgh canopus and firewire to mac mini.
I have set my bitrates to
    1. 800kbps H264 main @3.1 resolution 640x480

My FMS parameters are,  FMS URL:rtmp://localhost/live  , streamname : livestream%i
The live video encodes fine when i have only 1 stream encoding. But jerkyness observed when i have 3 bitrates enabled on encoder. What could be the issue?
I thought i can use FMLE to adaptive streaming.
I will be using 3 different streams for pc and mobile. Please let me know if i have any issues on the encoder side
    Any pointers would be useful.
    Thanks.

    For VP6 MBR:

  • Mac Book Pro 1.83 Ghx running slow after clean OS installation

    Hi,
Have a problem here, My MBP seems to be running very slow, tried running the repair by booting from the OS disc and its says OK.
Thinking the problem could be with the OS I formatted the system and reinstalled the OS, the issue still persists, also I noticed one more thing, If I try to copy something from the external HDD to Mac it copies at the rate of 4Kbps however from Mac to External HDD is around 20 Mbps.
I suspect it to be the HDD problem.
Can anyone tell me if there is any diagnostic software available for HDD or how can I figure out whats the problem. My Mac is Out of warranty.
    Configuration: OS X 10.6 Snow
    RAM: 1GB
    Processor: Intel 1.83 Ghz
HDD Space: 80 GB 70 GB available space.

There are hard drive apps like Drive Genius and DiskWarrior, but it would be more cost effective just replacing the drive. You really could use more RAM too.

  • Taking I Mac G5 to India

Will my I Mac G5 work in India with just a change in the plug or is a transformer necessary? Will a transformer harm the G5 or void my warranty?

    Hi Nancy,
It depends which model you have. See KB article #75099:
    - Apple Power Supplies: Changing voltage settings
If your iMac G5 is a first generation that originally came with Panther, bought in the USA or Japan, you'll have to use a transformer. 200 Watts is a minimum.
If your iMac G5 is a second generation that originally came with Tiger, your power supply is most probably an International Auto-Switching one.
    Important warning:
The only way to make sure IMO, is to look at the specs that are written in very small letters, close to the place where the round power cord is.
You should read this range: 100V-240V and 50Hz-60Hz.
    About the warranty:
No, it would not void warranty. A transformer is a main power supply just like the local electricity company is (or the State company in some places). If it fails to provide clean power at the right rates, this is not you Mac's fault, nor it is your TV's, washing machine, etc.
    BUT:
Your warranty is valid only in the country of purchase. It won't be valid in India, except if you buy your desktop computer in India.
    Duane:
You are the one who wrote this excellent tip:
    - User Tip: Which iMac G5 do I have?
and this Note: "(Aug 2004) USA and Japan models do not have an autoswitching 100 to 240 volt power supply and MUST ONLY be used on 100-120V systems."
    Good luck!

  • FMLE not seeing input video

I'm using a Blackmagic HD Decklink Extreme 3D+ but can't get FMLE (3.2 for Mac) to see the video feed which is going into the card.
Other software, such as Final Cut Pro, is seeing the video, so it isn't a hardware problem.
    Any thoughts?

Please share profile settings and session logs. Also please check whether you selected correct settings in FMLE (dimension and fps) similar to input device settings.

  • FMLE and Canon Legria HV40

    HI
Has anyone had issues with FMLE 3.1 for mac and distorting pixels, I can't get the pixels correct.
    Anyone?

I have the Panasonic HDC SD10 and a Black Magic Intensity Pro capture card using. I stream HDMI in 1080i to Blog tv, Justin.tv, Bambuser and Livestream with this cam and card. On Live stream you can use their Procaster instead of FMLE works just as good and seem to be easier on your cpu.

  • Blackmagic hyperdeck studio pro bad video with FMLE

I'm using a Blackmagic Hyperdeck Studio Pro over thunderbolt to get video into my iMac.  Using the Ustream interface, the incoming video looks perfect.  But using Adobe FMLE, it looks pretty terrible.  Jerky motion, all sorts of graininess and noise.  Any ideas?  I've tried just about every FMLE setting I can try.
Also, sort of OT to the above issue...anyone know of a way to run 2 instances of FMLE on the same Mac?

There is no way on a Mac laptop to run two instances of FMLE and make it work with a single video input source.  Its not the software, as much as it is a hardware sharing resource conflict.
You could build a PC and install a single Viewcast Osprey Video Card that has SimulStream software enabled (700e).  Or simply install two identical cards in a PC box.  We do this in my commercial webcast oprations here in Silicon Valley.  Takes a Core i7 box to run 2 or even 3 instance of FMLE with HD inputs.  Dual core anything can barely run standard def encodes safely.
