Ratings Affect Navigation in Develop and Library

Every time I make any "gestures" regarding ratings, be they assigning stars to a file or  flagging, navigation is affected.
Say I rate an image at four stars. Lightroom advances the veiw to the next file in the filmstrip.
This navigation issue occurs in both library and develop modules.
How might I remedy this situation?
Thank you.

Turn it off.

  • Different view to develop and library module

    Hello everyone, I have a big problem during my workflow, or when working images from the development at the end of the work as the images are like me and very sharp. But when I see in the library module are not sharp and the blacks are very mordibi. Below I post the link to see for yourself.
    MODULE DEVELOPMENT:
    MODULE LIBRARY:
    The problem is that when I export my image is identical to the form LIBRARY and not that beautiful clear form DEVELOPMENT. So I find myself not export images with crisp blacks and dishes.
    I already tried to delete the cache, but does not change anything, and I use 1:1 previews, you have no idea how to fix my problem?

    Ah, now I see the rightside of that screenshot, with, as you say, sharpening 150 and NR 0. That's a combo it would never even occur to me to use, not in a hundred years...
    Anyway, I tried this with an ISO 1250 shot, but couldn't see any differences anywhere. But maybe you need to go higher.
    I've learned to never take anything for granted when reviewing LR forum posts. An ISO 1250 shot is probably too low with most DSLR cameras to see this issue. On my 5D MKII I could really only see the "lightening" between Develop and Library views with ISO 6400 raw images. It may also show up at lower ISO settings with images that are heavily underexposed (i.e. LR Exposure +1 and greater), and with smaller sensor cameras (1.6 crop, P&S).
    Gianlu24, keep in mind that Adobe increased the Sharpening amount from '100' in LR3 to '150' in LR4 when using a high 'Masking' setting. For most normal images and Masking settings you should use a Sharpening amount below '100.' There are two basic types–Capture and Output sharpening, each adjusted using separate controls. In addition you can apply both Global and Local Capture Sharpening in LR. These three articles by Laura Shoe may be helpful:

  • Tonal change between develop and library module

    After having applied some changes in the develop module when I switch back to the library module I am experiencing a sever foreground tonal change? I can add that the foreground in this particular photo had a grad filter applied. The tone shifts from a cool blue to a purple? Shooting with a nikon d5100 with ADL turned off as per other similar problems brought up in this forum. Which by the way I still experience but have learned to live with is that after import of RAW picture looks good for about a second then exposure changes.

    Are you using a calibrated/profiled monitor?  In Develop module, LR displays in ProPhoto colour space, in Library module it's Adobe RGB.  If the monitor doesn't have a proper profile there could be differences in view between Develop and Library.  However I would have thought LR would default to assuming monitors behave like sRGB if there's no profile (or no colour space info in the profile).

    The usual cause for that is that Adobe can't read Nikon proprietary metadata such as Picture control settings.  If you shoot with the Nikon Picture Control setting (Standard, Portrait or whatever) at default settings, and if you use the corresponding profile in Lightroom's "Camera Calibration" panel (Camera Standard, Camera Portrait etc) then the appearance should be very close to the out-of-camera jpeg preview appearance.

    On your iPhone ..
    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then tap Settings > General > Date & Time
    Switch:  Set Automatically ON
    No data is lost due to a reset.

  • 5d Mark II Images not same in Develop and Library Module

    Hello,
    I am having trouble with the Raw fies that have been adjusted in the Develop Module loosing all of their luster and pop when switching back to Library and exporting. In other words, my adjustments are generally flattened out and colors muted when going from Develop to Library. I see that the Camera Calibration shows only ONE profile option: Matrix. However, the same single option for my 7D is also Matrix but the Raw files appear to hold my adjustments after being made in the Develop module.
    I am using LR 2.7 and Camera Raw 5.7.
    Please advise what needs to be done to get my images looking how I want them too and holding the adjustments.
    thanks
    todd bigelow

    Sorry, but also noticed that this appears to occur only on the images with higher contrast, beautiful light that is vibrant and saturated. On other images that don't have the same intense, late afternoon colors, the adjustments seem to hold fine.
    Meant to say "losing" in original post, not "loosing".......
    thanks again for any recommendations

  • Option to allow filmstrip to work the same in both develop and library mode

    First of all, let me say that one of the greatest features that LR2 brings to the table it the keyboard shortcuts for adjusting things in develop mode. That is the single improvement that has really made a HUGE difference in editing images the way I work.
    I'm so happy to be able to get almost everything on the keyboard, that I wanted to point this out.
    When in library mode, I can select a series of images in a row using shift + an arrow key. When I'm done adjusting the images, I can press the right arrow key, and I've now effectively deselected all the previous images, and gone on to the next one. This is intuitive and makes sense to me.
    But in Develop mode, pressing the right arrow key swings me back around to the first image on the left.
    Perhaps for the way some people works, this makes a lot of sense. For me, there's no reason that I would need to do this.
    Of course I can deselect all photos (apple-D), but then to get back on track, I have to go to the mouse to select the next image. I would like the option of having the filmstrip act the same way in both modes.
    Another solution would be to continue to allow the "Select only active photo" shortcut that is available in Library mode, but for some reason is not available in Develop mode.
    Yes, this is a small change, but I feel like things are getting so close to perfect that I wanted to chime in with something that in the end I think will really help to speed up people who have to work through and adjust a large number of images.

    Hi,
    If the songs were purchased from itunes, I suggest that you delete the tracks from your itunes library and move to trash (providing you live in a country that permits redownloading). See http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283.

  • I DELETED SOME OF LIGHTROOM MODULES, ALL BUT DEVELOP AND LIBRARY

    Several versions ago, possibly 3.6, I deleted several of the lightroom modules, all but LIBRARY and DEVELOP.
    Now I need them all. I have installed 4.4 but the modules have not returned to the top of the LR window.
    I cannot remember where I might have stored them on my HD or what their names are, and believe I have reinstalled my system since then anyway.
    Is there anyway I can change my preferences, or something, and then reinstall LR so as to get the entire list of modules, such as SLIDESHOW,ETC.
    Of course I have my catalog backed up but perhaps this can be done simply.
    At the time I had a purpose but now I want the capabilities of the entire program.
    thanks,
    Vince

    John,
    Thank you so much. I was making too big a deal of it. I assume, now, after your answer, that the modules were indeed installed with the update and that I needed only to follow your instructions.
    I feared all kinds of unhappy problems.
    I AM ALMOST HAPPY!
    thanks again,

  • Develop module & library module aren't matching

    When I am editing, my photos look how I want them to in the develop module, but when I switch over to the library they look different. Some photos it doesn't apply the clarity, highlights, noise reduction, or sharpening. I haven't had this problem up until a month or two ago. It used to be the same between the two modules and I no problems editing. Now it's a pain to edit because I have to switch to the Library to see what the image is really looking like, go back to develop to try and change it, but cant end up getting it to look how I want. Images look the same zoomed in, but not in normal view. I am on Windows, Lightroom 3.6. I have tried reupdating the software, downloading an older version. also updated my video driver, and nothing helped. trying to avoid reinstalling all of lightroom because I do not want to lose any previewly modified images.
    first one is the view from develop. you can tell its a lot more noisey.
    second picture is from the library. it's a lot more smooth.
    so basically my images aren't being shown correctly. I have looked through a lot of discussions on here and no one seems to have an answer...please help me! editing should be fun, not frustrating.

    Thanks for the response. This appears to be more the issue with image that is exported is using the algorithm for the library module as opposed to the changes made using the develop module. The histograms are different when switching between the two modules (Library/Develop) for the same image.
    Camera: D7100
    Image Type: RAW
    ISO: 3200
    Bingo! You're using an ISO 3200 image with fairly high sharpening settings, which is going to increase noise in the image. If you view the image at 1:1 in the Develop module the noise should very visible. The Develop module and Library module 1:1 previews should both show the noise and look very close to each other. The reason why less than 1:1 Zoom previews (i.e. Fit, Fill, 1:4) and histograms look different is explained in my reply #29 under this heading MORE THAN YOU PROBABLY NEED TO KNOW (For Techno Geeks & Nerds Only). The Export module uses the same Bicubic algorithm as the Library module, which is why the Library module's preview is more accurate than the Develop module. Virtually all image editors (not just LR) use the same Bicubic resizing algorithms and will produce the same discrepancy when compared to LR's Develop module preview.
    Fortunately there is a very easy solution to this issue. Unfortunately many people prefer to complain, say it is a LR "bug," and don't listen further to suggestions on "fixing" the issue. If you fall into the latter camp don't bother reading further! Sorry if this sounds crass and cynical, but I can only provide advice. Whether you believe me and try it is your decision! It works for me using five different camera models with both raw and JPEG image files.
    High ISO and/or High Sharpening Preview Discrepancy Fix
    1) Set Develop module to 1:1 Zoom View.
    2) a. Adjust Sharpening panel settings for desired look.
        b. With noisy images it's best to keep the Detail setting no higher than 35.
        c. Try using the Masking slider to reduce noise in even toned areas.
    3) Increase Detail panel Color setting until the color noise is barely visible.
    4) If there is still some residual color noise try increasing the Color detail setting to ~80.
    4) Increase the Detail panel Luminance setting until noise is barely visible or gone.
    5) If the image has lost significant sharpness try increasing the Luminance Detail setting to ~80.
    6) If necessary go back to steps # 2-5 and make small adjustments to the Sharpening and NR settings.
    Now compare the Develop and Library previews at Fit view or better yet at 1:8, 1:4, or 1:3. They should look very close to each other with the Develop preview very slightly sharper. Full-size and reduced size Exports should look very close to what you see in the Develop module. When Resizing images don't forget to add Export Output Sharpening. When images are Resized the Output Sharpening setting has more influence on image sharpness than the LR Develop Sharpening settings. For most images the Screen Standard setting should produce crisp images. If you want more try the High setting. I generally find the Screen Low setting produces the most natural look. YMMV dependent on lens performance, camera shake, focus issues, or simply poor lighting (cloudy, foggy, etc.).

  • Metadata Navigation and Library Column Filter Bug

    To whom it may concern,
    When document library metadata navigation is enabled and a user clicks an item in the metadata navigation part, the library updates to reflect the selected filter. Subsequent filtering actions performed on columns in the library do not filter the list
    further. For visuals refer to the thread below.
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/ab5c7d15-14e7-470a-8120-71d049a104d3/list-metadata-navigation-and-columns-filters-not-working?forum=sharepointgeneral
    My reason for re-posting this is 2 fold.
    1. The answer to the thread above is not an answer, it is a work around.
    2. Presenting the option for a user to continue filtering a view, but having that option do nothing is a bug. The option should be hidden, or it should perform the expect action.
    Please either inform me of an expected timeframe for resolution, or point me to an exacting set of steps to take in order to escalate this issue to someone who will take action to fix it.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that column filtering cannot work after filtering on the managed navigation in SharePoint.
    I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, and I got the same results as you got.
    We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.
    Again, thank you for your report which will definitely make SharePoint a better products. There might be some time delay.
    Appreciate your time and patience.

  • Can't get title and time/date from appearing over photo in Develop or Library

    I must have done this when I was trying to do some other keyboard shortcut and got the wrong one - and now I can't figure out how to get rid of it. But a few weeks ago, I did something and now the file name, date/time and image size appear in white text over the top-left of any photo I have in the Develop or Library screens:
    So you can see "_MG_0955.CR2" and the other details in the clouds there. Does anyone know how to get rid of that? I can't find anything in any of the menus. I'm on Lightroom 4.3 for Mac OSX Mountain Lion.
    Thanks!

    Ltter I on you keyboard cycles through the info of the Loupe View (same in Develop Module).
    You set what you want to see by pressing Cmd. + J - and select the parameters for Info 1 and Info2.
    Letter I cycles thus: Info 1 - Info 2 - No overlay.

    Apple is more likely to see your comments if you send feedback via:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
    You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404).  Alternatively:
    Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
    Quit iTunes.
    Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
    Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
    Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
        Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
        After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
    After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:

    Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441424 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).  A  variant of this is at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20448184

  • Color changes between library/develop and web module

    Hi there,
    when changing between modules library/develop and web the color of the pictures changes. That means, pictures become darker and the red/orange colors become more intensive. Back to the library, everything is o.k. Webgaleries also change, but not normal exports.
    Until yesterday everything worked wonderful, but then I updated from 3.0 to 3.3 and now there´s no more WISYWYG for the webgaleries!
    Somedbody out ther who can help?
    Thank´s,  Tom

    First up, Develop is the most current preview. Library previews depend on the preview settings and if they've been zoomed into recently. Web exports sRGB Jpegs and I believe the webcache files that are generated for preview are also. If you're using a Flash Gallery, then there is no colour management happening.
    Is your monitor calibrated?

  • Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library?  The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.

    Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library?  The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.

    That's probably a broken display profile. The conversion from Library's Adobe RGB is different than the conversion from Develop's linear ProPhoto, so if there's a problem with the display profile it can show up this way.
    Recalibrate, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB. If your monitor is a wide gamut model use Adobe RGB.
    Assuming Windows, change it in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices, and relaunch Lightroom so that it can pick up the new profile at startup:

  • The Navigator in "Develop" mode in Lightroom 5 doesn't show current photo

    In Library mode, the Navigator does what I'm used to from previous versions of Lightroom -- it shows a preview of the currently selected photo.  However, when I go into "Develop" mode, the Navigator chooses another photo from the collection I'm working on (always the same one, it seems) and shows that one.  This is frustrating, because I like to use the Navigator in Develop mode to see previews of an edit I'm working on.  It's also just nonsensical that it shows a different photo.
    Is this a setting I need to set somewhere, or a bug?
    Thanks!

    Business Add-Ins
    Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
    As with customer exits (SMOD/CMOD [Page 40]), two different views are available:
    • In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
    • In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
    In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-system infrastructure (SAP and customers), but instead allow for multiple levels of software development (by SAP, partners, and customers, and as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure.
    SAP guarantees the upward compatibility of all Business Add-In interfaces. Release upgrades do not affect enhancement calls from within the standard software nor do they affect the validity of call interfaces. You do not have to register Business Add-Ins in SSCR.
    The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time.
    In addition, Business Add-Ins can be defined according to filter values. This allows you to control add-in implementation and make it dependent on specific criteria (on a specific Country value, for example). All ABAP sources, screens, GUIs, and table interfaces created using this enhancement technique are defined in a manner that allows customers to include their own enhancements in the standard.
    A single Business Add-In contains all of the interfaces necessary to implement a specific task. In Release 4.6A, program and menu enhancements can be made with Business Add-Ins. The actual program code is enhanced using ABAP Objects. In order to better understand the programming techniques behind the Business Add-In enhancement concept, SAP recommends reading the section on ABAP Objects

    BAPI
    what is BAPI?
    BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
    A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
    You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
    A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
    BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
    The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
    Reading instances of SAP business objects
    GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
    The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
    GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
    The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
    The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
    The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
    Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
    The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

    Example Code
    U need to give the step_nr, item_nr, cond_count and cond_type so the correct conditon will be updated. If no condition exists for the given parameters, a new condition will be created.
    U can find these parameters for a particular condition type in table KONV.

    Bdc to Bapi
    The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
    eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
    eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
    Only specify fields that should be changed
    Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
    Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
    Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
    The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
    Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
    You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
    You must always enter key fields for changes.
    You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
    The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
    For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.
    Bapi to VB(Visual Basic)
    Long back I had used the following flow structure to acheive the same.
    Report -> SM59 RFC destination -> COM4ABAP -> VB.exe
    my report uses the rfc destination to create a COM session with com4abap. com4abap calls the vb.exe and manages the flow of data between sap and vb exe.
    You need to have com4abap.exe
    If com4abap is installed you will find it in sapgui installatin directory , C:\Program Files\SAPpc\sapgui\RFCSDK\com4abap.
    else refer OSS note 419822 for installation of com4abap
    after making the settings in com4abap to point to the vb program and setting up rfc destination in sm59 to point to com4abap session , you can use the following function modules to call the vb code.
    for setting up com4abap and rfc destination please refer to the documentation for com4abap.
    Invoke NEW DCOM session
    call function 'BEGIN_COM_SESSION'
    exporting
    service_dest = service_dest "(this will be a RFC destination created in SM59)
    importing
    worker_dest = worker_dest
    exceptions
    connect_to_dcom_service_failed = 1
    connect_to_dcom_worker_failed = 2
    others = 3.
    call function 'create_com_instance' destination worker_dest
    exporting
    clsid = g_c_clsid
    typelib = g_c_typelib
    importing
    instid = g_f_oid
    exceptions
    communication_failure = 1 message g_f_msg
    system_failure = 2 message g_f_msg
    invalid_instance_id = 3
    others = 4.
    call function 'com_invoke' destination worker_dest
    exporting
    %instid = g_f_oid
    %method = 'UpdatePDF'
    sntemp = g_v_const_filent
    snsysid = sy-sysid
    snflag = 'N'
    tables
    rssaptable = g_t_pdfdetail1
    %return = g_t_pdfdetail1 "t_test
    exceptions
    communication_failure = 1 message g_f_msg
    system_failure = 2 message g_f_msg
    invalid_instance_id = 3
    others = 4.
    then close the com session , using
    FM delete_com_instance
    FM END_COM_SESSION
